Satellite A60 - BACK memory checker detected problem

Hello

I have a problem using the recovery DVD, as posted above. Microsoft site Web told me I maybe lack of hardware (Ram) the error I get is unable to load the required DLLS for kernel.

I ran the auditor of memory microsoft back and all the time, the results are expected: ffffff real: 7fffff

I bought a new ram and installed the ram installed ok, but I still have the same problem.

Now, I've read that this model has 256 MB of internal ram, which is hard.

I think it should be this hard ram that has become corrupted somehow.
Is that what this really hard hard ram?
I can't locate it on the motherboard.

This means, if the ram is corrupt and hard that I have to buy a new motherboard?

Any help and advice would be welcomed - especially all that means I don't have to buy a new motherboard!

Also, if anyone knows the model number of the motherboard, I would appreciate this too.

Thank you in advance,

Paul.

Hi Paul

According to the manuals of the unit the internal memory is not expandable and as far as I know not removable. I m not 100% sure if this module is defective.
In my opinion, you should contact Toshiba. He can do a diagnostic test and it can give you a good answer on the blackout. Maybe you do not need to replace the motherboard.

Good luck

I have a Satellite A60-199 and you want to increase the RAM to 512 MB.

    Mike hills

The brochure says that you can install a 1 GB module in the memory slot. There is only one slot, you can install memory.

So if there are 256MB onboard, you can increase the total 1.25 GB memory

  • Satellite A60-217 memory upgrade

Hi, I have a Satellite A60-217 (Intel Pentium IV HT 532, 3.06 GHz), and I want to upgrade the memory by adding a 512 MB of currently installed memory (256 MB with 64 MB shared memory for video card).

I tried to install a S3 + PC2700 DDR SODIMM 512 MB module, but the system does not boot to the top: it emits a long whistle blow and then stops automatically. If I remove the module, the system starts properly.

The manual indicates the speed of the memory supported is only PC2100. Is this true? The module is maybe defective?

    Thank you

    Hello Stefano

Of course, the added module is not compatible and makes trouble. I found the info, this compatible module PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51).

Google a bit and you will find lots of information on the module with the PA3312U - 1 M 51 part number.

  • Satellite M40-276 - memory not detected in the Bios upgrade

    Hi people!

    New kid on the block!

I have a client with a toshiba Satellite m40-276. I've updated his memory to give it a little more to play with...

Went into the bios to see if everything was OK but no projected additional memory. I removed the new and old memory and put in the new 1 GB module and restart the computer.
The bios has not yet changed the size of the old memory?

Went to windows and of course that the memory has been detected it normally?
I added the other memory module and went into the bios again, but no change it?

Windows, however, recognized that the two modules?

His computer is the same bios to factory and has never been updated.

My questions are... why the bios doesn't recognize the upgrade memory? It will help in upgrading the bios?

Enjoy all the suggestions I can get on this issue.

    Thank you

    bookie56

Generally, if you upgrade RAM using tested compatible modules, that should be recognized correctly.
We do not know what modules you use, and I guess that there is a compatibility issue.

RAM on Satellite M40 276 can scale up to 2 GB of RAM and compatible modules are:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Satellite A60 - recovery and install xp problem

I have a laptop A60 which is slightly more than 1 year.

A couple of days, about 2 minutes after the start, the screen flashed with a new window (I was unable to see the content, it's appeared and disappeared so fast), then the laptop turned off.

I rebooted, could not boot into winxp I received the error message (please report this problem as a load dll required) missing file. The missing files were all of the system folder.

I then tried the recovery dvd. Everything looked fine, however, he kept failing at windows startup.

Whenever I start the machine now, I get the toshiba logo, which now has lines of Red pixels in the columns towards the bottom of the screen. The same effect occurs when I try to recover using the recovery dvd.

After trying this for some time, I tried to install my own copy of XP home. The laptop starts, attempts to load the files needed for the installation of winxp, gets to the core of the dll and stops with an error 4 impossible to continue.

The recovery cd and winxp cd are in good working condition - validated it on other machines.

Once, the winxp set up did go to the options page so I chose the repair console. I was able to run fixmbr and fixboot. It worked, then I could use the recovery dvd and successfully recovered it. About 2 minutes later, once he had everything installed, I got a blue screen of death and had to re-boot - to see that I was back to the initial situation.

I then used fdisk to set up new partitions. ]

Now, if I try the recovery cd, the laptop starts to load the ghost file and then the screen turns white after a while - the same thing with trying to install a new copy of xp.
I still get the red on the screen pixels when I try the recovery cd and when I start the machine and get the toshiba logo. However, when I try to install xp from my drive, the red lines, points, appear not at all.

My feeling is that I had a master seed virus and need a new hard drive.

Can someone please advise me on this... What do you think that is the problem? If you think it's a virus master seed aswell, can you please tell me what you know how I can fix this or I have to buy a new hard drive. What a RAM problem or a problem with the hard drive controller?

For now, I am going through several thoughts, but keep coming back to the boot virus master = new hard drive!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Paul,.

In this case, my inclination is to suspect the RAM modules. This is based on the assumption that the screen initial 'splash' is not on the hard disk but is stored in the CMOS chip. The fact that your get the Red pixels when it appears would indicate a problem until the hard drive is still accessible.

If you have restored your system using the recovery CD then the Master Boot Record will also have been restored (and is not infected).

Of course, it is perfectly possible that your hard drive may also have problems that would explain the symptoms that you experience when you try to restore you system, but want to try simply to clean the dust from your CPU radiator (with a vacuum cleaner hose) before you try to restore again.

The restore process causes a lot of heat to be generated, and you may well find that it is having a negative effect on your laptop.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite L775D S7332 no battery detected problem

    * Hi there *.

I would like to ask my help address the issue of how that detect the battery of the laptop. 20 days for newly purchased laptop 2 days ago and came up with this error is that it does not recognize the battery. and if not it would put us in the usual place.

    Hello

Keep the AC adapter plugged into the laptop for a longer period of time.
In some cases, the battery supports a mode of initial charge.
In this case, the battery starts to charge after a certain time.

But in the worst case if the battery would not always be detected, try to report it to a Toshiba service partner in your country. It might be possible that your battery is defective.

  • Satellite A60 - USB 2.0 TVBox does not work

I connect a model USB TVbox PV-TV414U made by Prolink Pixelview for my Satellite A60, I install all the drivers and all the updates for this computer and when I run the program to watch TV from the computer with a BugCode_Usb_Error message blue screen crash? I try to connect the Tvbox in a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card in Satellite A60 and the TVbox works but only the sound, the image appears. I tried in an another Toshiba Satellite A60 and the problem is the same. I tried in many other computer from other brands and everything works fine. The problem is that with the Satellite A60. What is the problem with USB in Satellite A60.
System operating _ windows XP SP

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say why it happens. The error message sound like something wrong with the USB connection.
You can try to disable the power on the USB ports in the properties of USB. Maybe it helps.
You can also try to connect this TV box via the external USB powered hub.

But in my opinion, you should communicate with the production of this card. Maybe the support guys would know why this is happening. Also check if there are updates for this card.

  • Satellite A60 - white screen Freeze on Boot up

    Hello

My laptop Satellite A60-106 has developed a problem starting up upward. It just hangs on a white to the startup screen until I see all the graphics. It seems that it can access the CD/DVD drive, but any attempt to start with a recovery disk fails in the same white screen and it freezes. I tried the advice from manufacturers that power with the F12 key and another suggestion on the
CD hold down the C key while powering brings the same result.

Nothing other than the white screen. I tried F8 to see if I can get into safe mode but it will not exceed the original deaf of readers and then silence. I can't imagine a way to get it to allow me to pass. I'm sure you can however? I'd be happy to format and reload but if I can't access the drive so how can I do this?

I wanted to increase the RAM, but all the suggestions in the book of the hand do not relate to the layout of my laptop. The small Access window on the bottom of the laptop will not provide sufficient access to the RAM? Poking around the RAM could have induced this white screen lock?

    Thank you
    Charlie

    Hello, Charlie

To be honest you have serious problem and I really don't believe that you can solve alone. It is not easy to say with certainty why white screen occurs at startup to the top. In my opinion there are several reasons responsible for this.
    -Display (electronic LCD screen, cable)
-as far as I know white screen occurs if FL dimmer makes background light but there is no signal display can be defects on the motherboard and there is no video signal

The best thing you can do is to contact the authorized service provider. They check your laptop. They have special tools and there is no problem to know why this happen.

  • Canoe install audio driver on my old Satellite A60

    Hi all

I have an old laptop Satellite A60, and he had a problem so I formatted and reinstall windows, but I didn't have the original CD of windows came with this laptop so I used another CD that was provided by toshiba (I have another mobile satellite (I don't remember the exact model)). Everything worked fine, most of the toshiba utilities was already installed, but the graphics and audio cards drivers, missing (normal). I went to the toshiba website and download the audio drivers, installed, and when I clicked to restart the computer, after 2-3 seconds, I get a blue screen of death with the error STOP: 0x000008E and a TVS.sys file

So I opened the computer and the driver was still missing. A few times, the driver is there and windows will not open and I have to go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. It's really annoying. I have tried other older versions of realtek AC97 drivers but does not work either. I tried like versions of the original that I downloaded from the official website of toshiba and 3 drivers, nothing works... The graphics card has functioned well tho... but having no sound is annoying...

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Different models of laptops have different hardware platforms and each recovery image is created for some portable model. Maybe this other model has different chipset, GPU, WLAN card, sound card, and so on.
So I m really not ask you got BSOD at the beginning. There must be a conflict (registry entries) driver.

What you can try is to install again and remove almost all the drivers installed and try to install the right drivers for the Toshiba download page in the hope that everything will be OK.
I m not 100% sure, but tvs.sys probably owned audio filter.

  • TOSHIBA Power Saver on Satellite A60

    Hello

The Power Saver software on the CD has a 16-bit installation program that is not working under Win XP, have you tried the site Web of Toshiba (UK, Europe and USA), no luck - same 16-bit installation program.
    Any help please!

This isn't a failure with the Powersaver but with Windows XP. In the article, it says that you must use a XP cd but rather than this, you can use the I386 folder under drive c.

  • Satellite A60: charging problem

    Hey,.
I have a toshiba satellite A60 laptop. My laptop has 2 years. After that I used my laptop in battery mode, it fell because the battery was empty. When I plugged it on the net, the battery led flashed amber for less than a second and went back. The battery and the batteryled came out.

Windows detects the battery however. The laptop still continues to operate on the battery for a few minutes. I already had this problem about a year ago, and after a few months the battery began to charge again.

Someone at - it a simular problem and how do you solve?

Thanks (sorry for the bad English)

    Hello

Maybe the battery cannot load properly because he has a malfunction.
Generally, the battery performance decreases the extent of time.
I read that you can charge and discharge the battery about 500 times and then the performance breaks down.
You can try to remove the battery for a few times. After this time try to load it.
I also recommend check if this problem also occurs with a new battery.

But it is also possible that there is something wrong with the electronic power supply.
This could have a negative influence on the loading process.
I also read that the BIOS update have solved some problems of charging the battery.
But if charging the battery worked for 2 years, so I guess that the BIOS is ok.

However, check with a new battery.

  • Satellite A60 - memory increased

My Satellite A60 has 256 MB of memory and is vey slow these days. I removed several applications, but he healed partially the problem. I also defragment the hard drive. Could I need more memory?

Counsel would be appreciated - how get it and install it?

    Hi Charles,

Increasing your RAM will be an improvement, but only with applications that are particularly intensive memory. It is heavy graphics using games and utilities such as photo manipulation, video editing etc.

It is much more likely that your system is hampered by the excessive task that runs after your first commissioning. Check in your task for the background process manager how you running and how much resources they actually are using. For a typical installation of XP, I would expect that there is between 45-50 running processes.

Unless you have already done so I would recommend running a spyware (ADAWARE SE and SPYBOT S & D) utility that can be freely downloaded from the Internet, to see what presents itself.

I see that you have already defragmented your drive hard, which is great, but I highly recommend running the disk cleanup utility as well to get rid of all unnecessary clutter.

With regard to the RAM, I believe that the maximum that you can expand to 1280 Mb is, and I would recommend that you use Toshiba or RAM Kingston modules like these are tested to work with your laptop. I also used the modules of ORCA in my own laptop wuite successfully. Really, the choice is yours.

Information on the replacement of the RAM modules are usually contained in the manual of your users and should also provide details of the procedure to follow.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - HARD drive not detected by BIOS

    Hi all!
I received a Pro (PSA65E) Satellite A60 for free... because it has a bug! But I want to fix it and use it.
Problem is that the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS. Strange enough, it is possible to format during the initial phase of an installation of the OS from scratch (I tried with Win XP and Win 2000), but facilities do not proceed any further because it won't start HD. If I try to install a time shild, he can't find some data already present in the HD and gives warnongs... which means that it is also possible to write to the disk.
The BIOS screen shows: no drive.
CD-ROM drive is OK, shown as secondary.
I also look in the forums to nothing does not.
    Actions taken so far:
    * flashed the BIOS, now at version 1.90
    * Replaced the original HD (Toshiba, 40 GB) known to be good, by another more small (Toshiba, 30 GB)
    * Tried to remove the drive CD and checked BIOS recognizes, it has been removed and recognized it even when delivered. The same manoeuvre with the HD does not change the BIOS screen: he says still 'no drive '.
    * Tried with the BACK of Partition Magic version: it says "no disk found. Same thing with the backup came with the PC disks.
Tried other stuff found in Fora them: remove all the power sorce, let the PC for a few minutes... open and checked for visible problems in the area of the disc HARD and so on.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Re: Satellite A60 - overheating problem

    Hello

I have some difficulties to adjust temperature and fan on my Satellite A60.
The operating system is Debian and the fan operates at temperatures of 60-65 degrees Celsius (without any process started after the login).
I had installed utilities like toshutils, fancontrol, lm-sensors... but basically I have not found a solution for this:

    toshiba_acpi #modprobe
    Error: No such device

    Toshiba #modprobe
    Error: No such device

Now, I ask you advice, please.
If there are no alternative solutions, recompiling the kernel 2.6.24 (or other) is a solution to this problem? If the answer is 'Yes', how to prepare the package source?

Now the system works, but not very well at that latitude this question isn't a good prelude to my summer job.

    Best regards

    HM,

already checked the debian/gentoo/ubuntu forums? Or maybe freshmeat.net where toshutils all appear in their projects?

Unfortunately I can't tell you why the modprobe won´t work but don't you compiled the kernel option ACPI from toshiba? It must be something that controls the trough of explicitly from functions ACPI kernel using the userlevel tools.

By the way: have you read newspapers after trying the modprobe of the listed modules you´ve? Please make the modprobe more 'verbose', there may be something usable...
