Satellite A60: Not possible to install hotkeys & power saver - code: 0x7E

I have a Satellite a60 laptop
I installed windows xp home sp2.
I downloaded the drivers from the toshiba site and I met problems with three of the programs.
one is the 'Hotkey utility"which does not work and the only (when run in the CMD window)"program too big to fit in memory"message and does nothing.

the second is with the hotkeys "display" utility which after installed said that "driver is not found.

the third it 'energy savings' which, when installed alone gives an error: "a fatal error has occurred. "This program will be terminated code: 0x7E.

What should I do to solve these problems? Help, please
Thank you
Ohad

Hello

Why do you not use the Toshiba Recovery CD?
On this CD, all of the programs, tools, and drivers of Toshiba are preinstalled and should work without any problems. The installation is very easy.

  • Satellite A60 - treatment control of speed under Power Saver

    Hello!

After I had removed the WinXP preinstalled and installed a normal Windows XP - SP1, I can't control my processor speed more. This option became simply not available in the energy saving program.
Also, change the processing speed in the BIOS for 'always low' has no effect on it. It seems that Windows simply ignores this setting.

I tried different third party programs to control the speed, but it did not help.

    Any idea?

    Hi lop
It's very strange. I really don't understand how this can happen. The recovery CD with Windows XP Home SP1 edition home. It must be the same. Have you installed the right tool electric saver for this unit (TOSHIBA Power Saver V7.03.02.I)? The order of installation is also very important and you can find the file txt on CD Utility & Tools.
Try reinstalling the energy savings. Can you please tell me why you want to put down? Power of sawing?

  • Not possible to eliminate the Power Saver Utility of the OS

There are energy saving TOSHIBA began to act up. So I decided I want to reinstall. I downloaded the utility and power of the toshiba download page saver driver. I tried to uninstall the TOSHIBA Power Saver by using Add/Remove Programs, but I get an error:

Error 1316: A network error has occurred trying to read the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\TOSHIBA Power Saver.msi

I went to see if this file still exists, and it does not work.
Currently, the utility is only half uninstalled, I can't use, but its still in my Add/Remove Programs list.
Could someone tell me what I need to do to properly uninstall the utility?

    Thank you
    AZ

    Hello

First of all, if you want to install energy-saving if the driver must be installed in the first step, then the standby electricity utility.

If you cannot remove the standby electricity utility form OS so I guess that there is something wrong in the registry or / and some files are missing to begin the removal process.
In this case, there are not many possibilities.
You can manually remove it form the HARD drive and then remove the power saver entries in the registry.
You can use the regedit command to start recording.
Here, you can use the search option for research inputs to power saver.

But I can't justify it will help again to install energy-saving.

The order is very important and necessary if you want to install the Toshiba applications on your operating system.
I also discovered that the laptop uses Power saver power saver utility and driver.
I think you need to first install the driver and utility.

But everything should be described in the installation instructions

  • Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

    BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

    * My questions are: *.

Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?
What I need to preformat the hard drive, Toshiba-Hardware will recognize the hard drive?

It would be great to get help on this issue, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

    André

    Hello Andrew

This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

The strange thing for me is that judgment. The blue screen tells me that there may be some serious hardware problem, the HARD drive controller might be. It's really not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem.

  • Satellite C855D - not possible to enable virtualization in the BIOS

I just bought a portable Satellite C855D with a processor AMD A8 - 4500M. The processor supports AMD - V, but it is disabled in the bios. It seems that Toshiba has removed this option from bios InsydeH20 Setup and it is not possible to activate this feature.

There is no work around for this problem? I bought this laptop for my studies and it will be returned if it is not possible to run 64-bit virtualization.

I doubt that you will be able to allow this future if it is not taken in charge by the BIOS

However, you can always try to update the BIOS, where an update would be available

    Hello

First of all, you knew that this laptop was designed for the U.S. market and all the drivers, tools or any other Toshiba utility should be used on the Toshiba site we.
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_home.jsp

Please make sure that you have already installed Toshiba ACPI common Modules before as you continue to any other Toshiba Software installation.

  • TC 7.3.1 not possible to install on endpoints

    Hello

We ran into Bug CSCur63326 presentation question on / off with TC and MCU codec.

According to the Bug, the problem came in TC7.2.1 and must be fixed in TC 7.3.1 which is downloadable since Tuesday.

So, I downloaded the SW for a variety of endpoints that we have.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to upgrade to this version, any version prior to, or what type.

Once the SW is downloaded and the installation starts, it does not directly after:

'Check the signature on the firmware image' begins. According to the "installimage.log" of the codec it says failure of the verification of signatures! »

When I tried the same thing with my EX90, connected on the public internet behind a DSL router, verifying signature takes forever, but the update is successful.

Someone at - it an idea?

    Best regards, hans

Hi, check again you get the download software appropriate for your codecs. Even if they all run TC software, there are different flavors, so be sure that corresponds to the ID software (such as s52000).

  • How can I install Toshiba Power Saver on my newly installed Vista?

So I have a PC laptop Toshiba A100 and I just upgraded the operating system factory (XP), Windows Vista default. Anyone know if it is possible to adjust the brightness of the screen in Vista without Toshiba Power Saver? Or y at - there a way to download Power Saver from Toshiba for Vista? Thanks for any help!

    Hello

In Vista, there is no Toshiba Power Saver as under WXP and now many parameters have been taken on Vista power settings. With other words Toshiba Power Saver is not like in the version of Windows XP Home edition. The Toshiba Power Saver is now part of the package of added value.

When this package is installed you can set the screen brightness as before using FN + F6, F7 key combination.

    Hello

where you´ve have downloaded the powersaver? Maybe you downloaded a bad for your machine. It s absolutely important to download EXACTLY this software that fits your type of machine.
When you download stuff on toshiba Web sites you will have to keep an eye on the version on your machine (for example the Satellite A100 - 552-> download software of type '552' of the Satellite A100 series).

Sometimes, this solves a lot of mistakes and clarify some not very nice situations.
Please, more details on your problem. :)
