Satellite A60 recovery CD (Incorrect computer?)

I am reloading the operating system on the computer of a friend and I'm confused by the error message. The boot starts normally, go to the CD (pressing C) and seems to start normally (the display shows "Starting Windows Millennium Emergency Boot of" However when it comes to an XP machine).

He then referred to a dialog box indicating "wrong machine! This software is designed for personal computers from Toshiba. The only difference from wiping out the previous load was a new CD player like the old, one is deceased.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Gary

    Hello

I set the boot sequence to boot from the cd, but the message reads: no bootable disk.

I tried to open it with ghost, but looking for a password.

    Toshiba Satellite A60.

    Hello

First you will not be able to extract the ghost image file because it s set as you could see.

I put t know why you can't boot from the recovery CD Toshiba. But reasons could be:
-The CD is defective (zero, not more readable)
    -You used a bad CD
-The CD/DVD drive can not handle this CD because of the lens of the laser drive old and faulty.

Then you should check first if you can start on other Microsoft Windows CD to see if the CD/DVD drive is ok.
If it is ok, then there is a problem with your CD!

  • Satellite A60 - recovery and install xp problem

I have a laptop A60 which is slightly more than 1 year.

A couple of days, about 2 minutes after the start, the screen flashed with a new window (I was unable to see the content, it's appeared and disappeared so fast), then the laptop turned off.

I rebooted, could not boot into winxp I received the error message (please report this problem as a load dll required) missing file. The missing files were all of the system folder.

I then tried the recovery dvd. Everything looked fine, however, he kept failing at windows startup.

Whenever I start the machine now, I get the toshiba logo, which now has lines of Red pixels in the columns towards the bottom of the screen. The same effect occurs when I try to recover using the recovery dvd.

After trying this for some time, I tried to install my own copy of XP home. The laptop starts, attempts to load the files needed for the installation of winxp, gets to the core of the dll and stops with an error 4 impossible to continue.

The recovery cd and winxp cd are in good working condition - validated it on other machines.

Once, the winxp set up did go to the options page so I chose the repair console. I was able to run fixmbr and fixboot. It worked, then I could use the recovery dvd and successfully recovered it. About 2 minutes later, once he had everything installed, I got a blue screen of death and had to re-boot - to see that I was back to the initial situation.

I then used fdisk to set up new partitions. ]

Now, if I try the recovery cd, the laptop starts to load the ghost file and then the screen turns white after a while - the same thing with trying to install a new copy of xp.
I still get the red on the screen pixels when I try the recovery cd and when I start the machine and get the toshiba logo. However, when I try to install xp from my drive, the red lines, points, appear not at all.

My feeling is that I had a master seed virus and need a new hard drive.

Can someone please advise me on this... What do you think that is the problem? If you think it's a virus master seed aswell, can you please tell me what you know how I can fix this or I have to buy a new hard drive. What a RAM problem or a problem with the hard drive controller?

For now, I am going through several thoughts, but keep coming back to the boot virus master = new hard drive!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Paul,.

In this case, my inclination is to suspect the RAM modules. This is based on the assumption that the screen initial 'splash' is not on the hard disk but is stored in the CMOS chip. The fact that your get the Red pixels when it appears would indicate a problem until the hard drive is still accessible.

If you have restored your system using the recovery CD then the Master Boot Record will also have been restored (and is not infected).

Of course, it is perfectly possible that your hard drive may also have problems that would explain the symptoms that you experience when you try to restore you system, but want to try simply to clean the dust from your CPU radiator (with a vacuum cleaner hose) before you try to restore again.

The restore process causes a lot of heat to be generated, and you may well find that it is having a negative effect on your laptop.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A60-218 - where to download the recovery disk?

I have a Toshiba Satellite S60. It's a work computer and it's actually not mine but as I work with and I want it to be faster.

Someone on the formatted past with an installation of Windows XP from F@kE and all the drivers disc was lost. Not only the wireless card but also a sound card and graphics.
After much research I found the audio driver. The main problem is that is not a genuine copy of windows, and it is very slow because of Troy, etc..

I think that the best way to fix it is to recover to factory settings (all the CDs are lost). Only I couldn't find in the website of the S60 satellite. Will there be a recovery iso image for download?

Can someone help me? I'm really desperate...

    Hello

First of all the S60 satellite does not for me and I think you mean Satellite A60.

Well, as you said the best way to fix this is a Toshiba Recovery disk because it contains a picture of the factory settings. This means that the operating system (Windows) with all drivers and Toshiba tools installed. Thus, you will save time compared to a disc of Microsoft.

The recovery disc can t be downloaded, but you can ask an authorized service provider. Maybe they can order a new one for you.

    Yolande

Dear Yolande, it will not work on this path. What you need, it's true record and not parts that you can later put together.

You can install own OS using the Microsoft installation disc. All the necessary drivers, you can find and download from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Hello

It sounds like the right speaker is broken.
Did you check if the headphones work correctly?
Please check. If the headphones work properly, so I guess that the speaker has a failure. In this case, you must contact the service for a replacement.

By the way: Please check the Speaker Volume option in the sound and Audio devices.

  • Satellite A60: Need a recovery CD

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite A60-682 (PSA60E), and two weeks ago the HD crashed.
Unfortunately I lost the recovery CD and I can't rebuild the OS (Windows XP Home Edition) and drivers.
I asked the authorized Toshiba Service partner, but they told me that the recovery for my Satellite A60 CD is no longer available.
    There are only 2 solution:
    (a) buy a new CD of Windows XP with Microsoft license and install the drivers (download from the Toshiba site)
    (b) a copy of the recovery CD for Satellite A60 of another user who has this model of laptop.

Could someone help me? Could someone send me a copy of the recovery CD?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I agree with Irian. The Toshiba should always have the recovery CD.
    Visit this link:

You will find all service partners.

  • Satellite A60-742 how a recovery facility

    Hello
I am about to sell my old laptop with Windows XP installed and ensured that all personal files and passwords are removed before as I do.

I think that the best solution is to reinstall XP completely, but I don't remember if she got with a recovery cd or if she has a hidden partition.
So I wonder what I'm doing to make a full recovery from the XP that came with the laptop without CD?

    Thank you

Satellite A60 came with a recovery CD, and this image is not stored anywhere on the laptop or the hidden partition.
So the only way to reinstall Windows with all the drivers and tools for Toshiba is to use the recovery CD.
You can order such a CD on Toshiba:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

You can also do is to install Windows XP with a Microsoft installation disc, but then you must download and install all the drivers. It takes much more time.

Only portable computers that are shipped with Windows Vista can be recovered with the HARD drive because there are also stored image above.

  • Canoe install audio driver on my old Satellite A60

    Hi all

I have an old laptop Satellite A60, and he had a problem so I formatted and reinstall windows, but I didn't have the original CD of windows came with this laptop so I used another CD that was provided by toshiba (I have another mobile satellite (I don't remember the exact model)). Everything worked fine, most of the toshiba utilities was already installed, but the graphics and audio cards drivers, missing (normal). I went to the toshiba website and download the audio drivers, installed, and when I clicked to restart the computer, after 2-3 seconds, I get a blue screen of death with the error STOP: 0x000008E and a TVS.sys file

So I opened the computer and the driver was still missing. A few times, the driver is there and windows will not open and I have to go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. It's really annoying. I have tried other older versions of realtek AC97 drivers but does not work either. I tried like versions of the original that I downloaded from the official website of toshiba and 3 drivers, nothing works... The graphics card has functioned well tho... but having no sound is annoying...

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Different models of laptops have different hardware platforms and each recovery image is created for some portable model. Maybe this other model has different chipset, GPU, WLAN card, sound card, and so on.
So I m really not ask you got BSOD at the beginning. There must be a conflict (registry entries) driver.

What you can try is to install again and remove almost all the drivers installed and try to install the right drivers for the Toshiba download page in the hope that everything will be OK.
I m not 100% sure, but tvs.sys probably owned audio filter.

    Annemiek

    Hello

Have you installed the operating system from the Toshiba Recovery CD?
If Yes, then all Toshiba drivers and utilities must be installed now and work.

I think you mean Toshiba controls.
On my laptop, this application of controls of Toshiba was placed in the control panel. So I think that you will also find it in the Control Panel on your laptop.

There you can check if certain programs have been assigned to the keys.
You know IE internet button the Windows media player for the audio button and so on

  • Constant rebooting with blue screen - Satellite A60 332

I have a Satellite A60-332 for topic a little more than two years now, recently, I noticed two major problems which I did not have time to run to the top:

    1. sometimes the laptop restarts just by itself for no reason. When I'm working, a blue screen with white text pops up for half a second and restart the system. Rarely another question occurs after that it will not restart but will be beep like crazy.

    2. I've had this problem since I bought my laptop; Sometimes the laptop won't play audio. What happens is after turning on the system; If the audio does not work: all the 'switches' in the volume control window will be present (wave, cd player, to the, telephone line, etc.). But sometimes when the audio does not work it just shows three switches, not more.

I've had these two problems for a while now, and I've reformatted my computer at least 5 times since I bought it, these problems never go away.

I also had another question; my hard drive is the 30 GB supplied with Toshiba. I tried to upgrade, but heard that most laptops, including Toshiba, have a hidden partition on the hard disk called a tatoo, that is when some of the system files are stored so that when you run the recovery discs, they function properly. Can anyone confirm this because, of course, is not a pull & pop work to install a new hard drive, because I won't be able to copy this tatoo.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

    Hello

1.) BSOD appears mainly due to the failure of the serious software or hardware failure. The laptop could also automatically stopped due to overheating. In this case, you should check your fans and clean if possible with the vacuum cleaner. But be careful. If it won't work not then test the operating system with the new installation of the OS. Perhaps a 3rd party software is a bad influence.
In addition, check if the device uses the latest version of the BIOS. If this is not the case, the update.

2.) don t know why this happens but maybe due to overheating mentioned.
However, you could try reinstalling the audio driver.

3.) sometimes laptops come with the Qosmio player or express media player. These players are installed on the hidden partition. I don t think that there could be another reason for hidden partitions.

  • Satellite A60 - BSOD when you surf with Wireless PCMCIA card

Hello, I used to browse the internet with a cardbus wireless WL-54-CB (ADVANCE) on my Satellite A60 - 120 running windows xp sp2.

Well, I was working until I decided to clean my computer, which has been slowed by viruses. I use Ad-aware and Kaspersky and update patches on wndowsupdate. Now, the PC is clean but I have problems with the PCMICA card, when I run IE I surfed for a minute and windows crashes BSOD!
    It displays:
    STOP 0X00000001 (0 X 0, 00000002 00000001, 0XFE570000, 0X819587DE)

    Any ideas to fix it?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that this BSOD is related to the issue of software.
I mean that the missing QFE or the update could be responsible for this BSOD.

I assume that you installed your OS manually.
What about the Toshiba Recovery CD? It would be very interesting to know if the same happens with the OS from the recovery CD.

As I remember on the recovery CD a few patches are preinstalled, which fixes a few bugs. Eventually, one or more fails on your operating system.

  • Satellite A60 do not mount the drive UJDA760

My Satellite A60 CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive has stopped working properly. He is more able to read DVD - ROM, a serious problem because the recovery disc is a DVD-ROM.

I recently bought a replacement drive, the same model as the old disk number. But when I installed it, the computer does not recognize the drive. The drive has power and running disks. The computer does not know it is there.

Someone has an idea of what can be done to encourage the player from the computer? I updated the BIOS to the latest version, but that did not help.

    I appreciate any suggestions.
    Phil premium

    Hi Phil premium,

The old drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS?

I'm not sure but some readers have a rider on the back where the connector is. There you can switch between Master, Slave and Cable Select. Please put the jumper on Master and if it s does not, try the slave mode.

In the worst cases, the new drive is defective and you must return it to the store and ask for a replacement.

  • Can not turn on the Satellite A60

    Hello
I got the Satellite A60 for a long time. The battery is almost dead so I decided to use the AC power adapter to power the computer. When I try to turn it on it Star and stops in a few seconds. He looks dead, even if dc indicator is green and the battery light is orange. I tried to make it work without the battery, but it does the same thing. Sometimes with a lot of patience it lights, but I really don't know what I did different.
Can someone please tell me what is this problem and how to solve?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I think that the battery LED appears orange because the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery charges.
So, I can't give you a good answer why the laptop cannot start correctly, but one thing is very interesting.
No passes for laptop, the start screen of Toshiba which appears at the beginning?

If it is so perhaps there is a hardware failure and the laptop must be verified by ordinary service partner or a technician with experience more as a user like you and me.

But if the laptop can correctly pass the Toshiba start screen so in my view the files on the HARD drive are corrupt or the HARD disk contains bad sectors.

In this case, the only way to solve such a problem is the new reinstallation of the operating system.
I think you should try to boot from the recovery CD Toshiba.
