Satellite A65: No port I.Link - can I use an i-Link PCMCIA card

I have laptop Toshiba A65. This laptop did not come with i-Link port. Now I want to connect the video device to this laptop, and for that I need i-Link port.
Can I now purchase the i-Link card and configure it with my existing Toshiba A65?

Hello

You check user manual for port PCMCIA specifications appearing on the laptop.
To my knowledge the laptop supports the cardbus 32-bit/PC-Card 16 - bit interface and only the PCMCIA Type II are compatible.

I have goggled autour and found a lot of external PCMCIA cards that supports firewire and is compatible i-Link.

  • Video capture with a satellite Pro M70: which ports and drives can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Satellite Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture video from my panasonic camcorder that has digital strips. What are the ports that I can use and what cables do I need? I'm desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put on DVD and mail it to my mom. The panasonic website has ignored me! Any advice anyone?

Well, as far as I know this unit has only one S-video output port. In this case, you can connect the laptop to the TV and look at the photo of laptop to TV but it of not possible to receive all the signals of TV or any other device on your laptop.
To receive the signals, you need a composite or a s-video port.

However, if the camcorder has a firewire if port you can send digital files through the firewire connection. But this should only work with digital files that are saved on the camcorder.

  • Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.

The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.

I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.

Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.

Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?

    Thank you very much

Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?

I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.

Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.

  • Satellite A210-1 has 0 - I can't use FN and touchpad

    Hi all!

    I have laptop A210-1AO.
    I installed Windows 7 (32) on it!
Now, I can not use VPA and the touchpad.

As a first step, I have install VPA(different versions) nothing happens. FN does not work! On the desktop nothing!

When I try to install the driver for the touchpad y mistak! ("Cannot run DPInst.EXE on your operating system')

    What can I do? THX!

    Hello

    > When I try to install the driver for the touchpad y mistak! ("Cannot run DPInst.EXE on your operating system')

I searched this DPInst.EXE error and it seems that you are using a 64 bit on 32-bit systems driver.

First of all, you should check the VAP (value added package) and the utility of Support Flash Cards of other portable devices such as Satellite L500 series for example.
I installed VAP and utility Support Flash Card that have been put to the most recent series of notebook and FN keys work.

I also installed driver touchpad of other series like touchpad driver is not specific to a model of laptop.

  • Satellite A200-1ZB: what CPU max can I use?

    Hello..

    I have Toshiba Satellite A200-1ZB model with processor Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2370 @ 1.73.
I was wondering, what processor max speed is supported by this model? Anyone know? (without overheating of course ;)

    Specs. (HWiNFO32)
    Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2370 @ 1.73, FSB:533 MHz, L2: 1 MB
    CPU platform: Socket P Μpga478 (Micro-FC-PGA) / mBGA479 (Micro-BGA)
    Motherboard Chipset: Intel GM965 (Crestline-GM) + ICH8M
    Support FSB frequency: 800 MHz
    Memory: 2 x 1024 Samsung 667 MHz (PC5300)

Upgrading CPU is always risky, and in my opinion, no one can tell if the laptop would have functions properly after these updates.
    Another problem may occur.
First the BIOS of laptop computers could not handle the new processor or there may be a compatibility problem should be know that a CPU creates stronger more heat dissipation that could lead to overheating or unstable work.
Last but note would less affect these updates and void your warranty!

But if you want to know what CPU can be used and then check the properties of the chipset on the Intel page and you should find the information on compatible CPU s

  • Satellite M30 - what compatible HARD drive can I use?

    Hello

My Satellite M30 hard drive crashed (after 3 years of intensive use). I would like to replace it, but I don't know which drive is suitable (SATA, ATA 6... etc). The original for this computer hard disk is the MK6021GAP.

Can someone hep me on this subject? By the way, is - it complicated to replace the hard drive on this computer?

    Thank you

Use the advanced search of this forum and you will get several results with different threads on the same topic.
The replacement is not difficult. At the bottom f the unit, you will find a HARD drive Bay. Armand, remove the cover and cut the shape of the disk of the controller. But be careful.

  • Satellite 5200-802 - what HARD drive can I use?

    Hello

I have a 5200-802 Satellite with a 80 GB HDD (IDE) and I would build in more.

I would like to know what is the largest room, which will be accepted by this laptop. Is it 100 GB or 120 GB, 160 GB or 250 GB or 400GO or?
    Who manufactures?

    Everyone knows?

    Thanks in advance
    Jürgen

What do you think is the biggest HARD drive you can use?
I think that this question can be easily answered: it s a HARD drive to 120 GB because the laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits in the IDE. If you want to know more about this please consult this website: http://www.48bitlba.com

If you need a 120 GB 2.5 HARD drive and you can buy each production. I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - no restore CD - can I use the key to Toshiba?

    Hi all

I bought quite old friend Satellite Pro A100 laptop and lost windows XP Pro CD,
    I have the product key.

Can I get Windows xp pro eng cd somewhere and install it on my laptop with my cd key?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

The serial key you found at the bottom of the device belongs to the Windows OS preinstalled Toshiba and touches it s an OEM that will NOT work with the other disks in Windows XP.

This means that if you want to install Windows XP on this notebook then you buy the Toshiba recovery disc again the ASP in your country or you will take an original Microsoft Win XP disc and will use this disk and the key that belongs to this Win XP OS.

    You have these two options.

  • Re: Satellite L300-1 has 3 - How can I use AHCI?

    Hello everyone,

Recently, I have a laptop Toshiba L300-1 has 3 and I have a problem with the * AHCI in the BIOS when I install or use Win xp (sp2), the laptop cannot start and continue, I think because can not detect the HARD drive in * AHCI mode but doesn't have a problem with * COMPATIBILITY mode.
Maybe some of you can help me with their knowledge.
    1, which is * AHCI? *
2nd, which one is the best?
3rd, how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello!

If you are looking for the AHCI mode, you must reinstall Windows with drivers SATA (Intel Storage Manager). AHCI mode is faster than the compatible mode.

After the installation of Windows in compatibility mode, you can enable AHCI mode. Therefore, you must reinstall Windows.

If you want the AHCI mode, look at the Toshiba site for the Intel Storage Manager. This package contains the SATA drivers you need.

  • Can I use min - PCI Wi - Fi card on Satellite L20-183?

    Hello

I bought the laptop Satellite L20-183 six months ago. Since then, I've been using external PCMCIA Wi - Fi card. I'm a little tired to take care on a piece of plastic that comes out of the laptop. I read that it is possible to add a miniPCI WiFi card.

Should my computer a special model? Does anyone know where I could buy it or order? In addition, I would like to know if my phone is equipped with a Wi - Fi antenna connection?

    Hi Jakub

Unfortunately I have some bad news for you. Satellite L20 has no Wi - Fi antenna and it is not extensible with a mini-PCI card. :(

  • How can I use iPhoto importing photos from card reader?

Aloha all, I really prefer to use iPhoto, or opening when importing photos from card, but Photos opens whenever I put in my camera card. In the preferences of the Photo, the choice to select what app to use when importing is gray. How can I make iPhoto, or even simply to capture Image open rather than Photos? I put iPhoto preferences to do this, but it seems pictures somehow overrides it. Tips, tips out there? Mahalo

Try to set the default application to open the General preferences in iPhoto window:

Do you know that iPhoto is no longer supported by Apple print shops so that all projects must be created and controls through Photos?  Just a heads-up.

If the above does not work, you can kill all apps to open when a camera is connected with the following command in the Terminal application, posted by JadedEye:

Re: Prevent DEFINITELY the Photos to open automatically

    in response to leonie

OK, it worked for me on El Cap

    Open a terminal window

Type the following in the terminal and press enter

defaults write currentHost - com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug - bool YES

(followed by the return key or enter - ed)

    The exit of the terminal.

Photos will run if you run, but it will not autolaunch on each connection to a camera or the card or reformatted the card.

If you want to return Photos auto-launch almost everything, use the same command change YES no

This correction has set my workflow back to normal without Photos of gd lance all the time.

You must then manually run the application that you want to use with the memory card or camera.

  • COM/LPT ports on Satellite A10 lost and can't use the modem

My Satellite A10 lost ports, and I can't use my modem.
    What can I do?

    Hello

I think you should remove the modem from Device Manager. Restart the machine and the operating system should recognize the modem again. Then you can reinstall the modem driver.
All this should be done automatically and you need t to add all ports.
The properties must be enabled if you have administrator rights.

    Thanks and good luck
