Satellite A660/0MR - upgrade after RAM, Windows would not start

I have expressed in this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=228520#228520
But having a slightly different model (A660/0MR). Same question.

Improved from 4 GB to 8 GB. He would not accept any 4 GB sticks at all (I tried 4 different 4 GB sticks in all - all of the correct sticks) and operation in other machines. BIOS would recognise them, the BIOS is the latest version (1.80), but windows would not start.

Any suggestions?

Hi Farreg,

What new RAM modules you tried exactly?
Is it pretested module RAM Toshiba from an authorized service provider?

  • Satellite C850D-10W - upgrade screen, black Win10, bios not start

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba two years C850D-10W, which came with Win7 Premium. After several months of flashing notice suggesting to upgrade to Win10, I decided to give it a go. I was stupid enough to not not to check if my phone would support these updates, and I have not discovered too late that it would not be on the official website.

This subject happened is that during the installation process, to halfway through (maybe 43%) I got a message saying that the system should reboot several times. The problem is, it never exceeded the stadium to restart, and the system is now in a loop by which underscore fixed unblinking appears in the upper left corner and stays there for about five seconds. Then the system restarts and underscore appears again, and so on for ever, no logo Toshiba, no chance to select Safe Mode, nothing. I can enter the BIOS menu and I tried to boot the system from the backup DVD I did when I bought the computer so I could go back to Windows 7 but it does not work, the system just does not recognize. The HARD drive is fine, I got out and opened it on another computer as if it were an external hard drive and all the files are still there, but I can't do anything else.

Any help would be much apprectiated, thanks a lot

  • Satellite A660 - Win 8.1 power settings option not available

    Hello

    I upgraded my Toshiba (A660) to 8.1 64 x. (clean install)

All if works well except idle protected function, which seem to have disappeared of power options.
In my view, that a driver is required. (I have installed a single Toshiba driver)

They don't seem to have VAP more.

Can someone tell me what is the driver I need to install for this problem?

    Thank you.

    > All works well except idle protected function, which seem to have disappeared of power options.
What exactly is the function of inactive variation? Display backlight control?

Toshiba not stand in my knowledge of Windows on the Satellite A660 8.1 and therefore you would not find drivers Windows 8.1 for this series.

If you want to install the utilities and tools Toshiba Windows 8.1, you will need to seek such software in your own hand. But I'm not quite sure if software published for other portable Toshiba would be compatible with the A660 m model.

However, the fact is that there is no such thing as the package of added value to win 8.1.
This was the case with Vista or Win 7, but it is not available for Windows 8.1.
The VAP has been replaced by the system of Toshiba driver.

  • Satellite M50: Windows did not start because of a corrupted system file

    Hi all.

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite M50. When you turn on the laptop, a message appears: "Windows did not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system»

I am aware of my product recovery CD-Rom and have inserted - however, I don't want to reformat my HARD drive as I have files I back (foolishly) not upward.

Is there another method to repair the corrupted file without having to wipe all files on the HARD drive? (I don't have an XP CD - the operating system is loaded OEM when the laptop was purchased)

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

Hmm, using the repair console could be a good way to copy or replace the damaged or missing files on the HARD drive.
BUT you need to start the console of Windows XP CD of original Startup Repair.
Without this CD, you will not be able to repair the operating system. The Toshiba Recovery CD contains only image files and does not start the repair console.

Now the question is; How to back up data.
You can remove the HARD drive and connect it to the PC second via the external USB HARD disk controller.
Then you should be able to copy important files on the second computer.
After backup files you can start the installation from the recovery CD.

    Good luck

    Hello
I got a satellite m30x-155, I'm doing a restore of windows, the problem is the dvd drive would not start, I tried the instructions start cd\dvd first ac bluged, one got any idea what should I do?

    Hello

You must press F12 on startup in the start menu. Select CD/DVD and then Notepad will start on DVD player.

If it still does not respond, your recovery disc may be defective.

If you run the Toshiba recovery application, you will lose all your data.  As indicated in the warning, this application will restore the computer back to wherever it was when it was first delivered by the factory.

Without other complementary diagnostic information, it is difficult to determine what is happening.  Pressing the key (do not hold) of F8 beginning immediately after that the sequence of power should bring you to the Advanced Boot Options menu.  Try again then press repeatedly the key rather than pressing on and now.

The recovery CD Toshiba, you have probably does not allow a "repair installation".  Contact Toshiba to see if they will provide you with a suitable CD.

Given the fact that you can get a useful place when you start with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, my guess is that the computer is OK but that the hard drive has failed - or maybe more likely - the startup information is damaged so that it does not start.  If you have access to a computer equipped with a burner, download and create a bootable Windows CD.

There are a number of available bootable CD which include various recovery and diagnostic tools.  You'll have to do some research to find out how to use the tools.

    Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows
    Ultimate Boot CD
    Hiren BootCD

If you feel overwhelmed by the tools and I just want back the data, and then use the Toshiba Recovery DVD, make you a Knoppix CD and use this key to your data, preferably on a network connection.

If all this sounds like too much for you - and there is no shame in admitting that--take the laptop for a good local computer repair shop (not a type BigBoxStoreUSA or rather GeekSquad) and ask them to check it out and make sure to recover your data before anything else.

  • Friend upgrade XP to windows 7. not authentic Windows message receipt. Buy Windows 7 and downloaded to "fix the problem".

Friend upgrade XP to windows 7. not authentic Windows message receipt.  Buy Windows 7 and downloaded to "fix the problem". Computer crashed, but I got a new drive. Should I try install

    Hello

So the Windows 7 machine is fine, but its also empty! That we can help you. The XP machine is another matter. If you want to upgrade these machines to Windows 7, and the minimum hardware requirement is met, you can buy discs of software of Windows 7 operating system for each machine (1 motherboard = 1 license for purchased software).

In addition, I highly recommend you reformat two machines for them to XP RID completely, not to mention viruses / malware. If you plan to update the two XP machines with own versions of XP, that's fine, but this isn't the forum for this, the Windows XP forum would be the place, go here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp?tab=QnA .

Thus, the machine to Windows 7. To take no chances. Allows to run several scans on the new machine. You said "didn't work any more", I suppose you can't start Windows, ways to correct? If so, the answer is a program you burn on a CD called BootMed; Download 64-bit here: http://download.cnet.com/BootMed-64Bit/3000-2094_4-75450831.html and the 32-bit version from here: http://download.cnet.com/BootMed/3000-2094_4-75448200.html (only use the Direct download link).

Once downloaded, burn it to a CD, load this CD in Windows 7 computer and ensure that the CD drive is the first boot device, restart the computer. This will load a modified version of Ubuntu on your system, which includes antivirus and anti-malware programs. Run and remove anything they find. When they have finished their trial scans restarting the computer without the CD installed. What happens now?

Post your results here and let me know how you fare.

    Kind regards

My U300 Vista Home run came in a boot loop: Windows can not start correctly and makes me want to use repair system, which failed and just makes me want to stop the computer again.

I've tried without success, but failure mode it no more. I have a product recovery CD, but the system does not start from him. When I studied at the start, I saw that the BIOS does not detect the optical drive.

    Hi nonprofit.

You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Maybe it will be reconigze the CD/DVD drive again.

Otherwise I think that it of necessary to replace the defective drive. Then, you would be able to use the Toshiba recovery disc again. This will restore factory in a few minutes.

  • Satellite C660D froze and won't start - Windows could not start

OK, enough of the more dense person you will ever likely to meet when it comes to things like that. but will try my best to explain.

There are a few days that my laptop has frozen on me on me having to turn it off and start it again by the power button. When I started again the message below appears.

    > My question is, is - this easy to fix & if not where is the best place to consider to get fixed. Said I was pretty dense

I think its easy to correct, but you'd need a Toshiba recovery disc.
Have you created one in the past?

If not, try to start the HARD drive recovery: turn on the device, press F8. Now choose fix my computer.
Now new window should open, and here you must select Toshiba HDD recovery option. This would create the laptop back to factory settings.

In case this isn't possible, you will need to boot from a recovery disk to reinstall the system.

  • Windows could not start on Satellite L510

    HI :)

I'm not very tech savvy, I've only had my laptop a month. And yesterday, when I turned it back on I got this message...

Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem: Insert your windows installation disc, and then restart your computer
If you do not have the disk, contact your manufacturer computer or system administration.

    file: \boot\bcd
    status: 0x000000f
Info: an error occurred trying to read the boot configuration

I have been all over these forums and the internet looking for a solution, but no luck. It's the weekend, so I can not communicate with the service line.
I would appreciate a process step by step what it is, that I need to download or reset. I do not have the windows installation disc, because it did not come with my laptop.

I really appreciate your help in advance ;)

    Hello

Well, the error message says everything to me. Insert the Windows disk * or * contact manufacturing (Toshiba). ;)

By the way: it would be interesting to know if you can boot into safe mode. Check it!
If so, you may start the HARD drive recovery. Therefore, select Repair my computer in the Advanced Start menu and follow the instructions on the screen.

Yes, with the laptop didn't come a disc, but you can create one!
Please read the operating manual always first.

Now it s too late to create such a floppy, but you can order directly into a new Toshiba:

Oh and by the way - I would like my rear USB mouse - I said "I hate this tablet.
Battery has been for about 2 hours now without any problems

What computer Satellite phone do you have?

Have you tested without USB mouse? Maybe this is causing the problem.

And have you tried a BIOS update? You can find it on the Toshiba site:
