Satellite A660 - 11 M stuck in a loop when installing recovery

Hi all.

I am now under a procedure of recovery for A660 - 11M. I used a bought at Toshiba Recovery CD.
Everything was going well until the recovery is stuck in the loop of ' * now System Performance Rating *'.

I found a similar case, where a person has solved problem of forced reboot. I did, too, but when he turned, the loop began.

I wonder if there is anyway to stop this notation. It does not seem very important ultimately.

Thank you.

Hello

You must re-run the HARD drive recovery.
This means you must turn on the device
-Press F8
-then choose fix my computer
-Then choose HARD drive recovery and
-Retrieve the State of the box.

  • Satellite A660 - Why do I need to stop when I want to restart?

First of all, let me say I am Portuguese and my English is not perfect.

So, I recently bought a _Satellite A660-1CJ_ and I was very happy with her in the early days. While some problems began to occur. However, with the help other posts in this forum, most of the problems have disappeared: all of them, with the exception of 2. I will mention one now and the other later (after I know a little more about what actually happens).
    So, here's my problem:
When I _shutdown_ my PC and then run it, everything goes as usual and start windows.
However, if I try to _restart_ my PC (in the menu of windows - instead to turn off and then turn on) it gets stuck with "Innovation leader TOSHIBA" or something like that. Nothing happens. I have to press the power button and it turbs quicky offshore once again, then I start and is normally boots.

If anyone knows how to fix this please help me.
    Thank you...

    Hello

I can t he understand. I also have Satellite A660 before me for 2 months and everything works perfectly, no problems at all. I must say it s one of the best phones I have ever had.

When stop you the laptop, how long it takes until it start to himself?

Have you disabled correctly this problem s BIOS wake LAN in the BIOS?
Also, try to reset the BIOS to default settings.

If you have connected an external equipment, you must remove them. I can imagine that an external device causes the start if you need to delete all.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - 11 M - Random freezing after the installation of recovery

    Hello

I recently bought an A660 - 11 m, which I was happy for a few months and then it started to crash/freeze randomly in windows. I'd do something and then it just would freeze indefinitely, requiring a second 5 press the power button to turn it off manually. The fan and hard drives would continue to work if he did something, or they wouldn't be if I was not doing something at the time (this has happened four times). After that it's the only thing to do would be to reinstall the entire operating system by using the manufacturers recovery disk. The computer will then work fine for a few days or a few weeks (never more than 2 weeks) and it would be demanding full gel reinstall again. I had reinstall my programs every time but I stopped on the last 2 times and it made no difference.

After that the computer crashed it would then refuse to boot into windows. It would be still stuck just at the moment where the sign of windows appears. I would like to know that he had crashed as the 4 colored dots appear. The computer would simply wants at this point, continually getting stuck there after the reboot of several manual. Once and only once it booted into windows on its own, but it took almost 30 minutes and the computer is very slow and unresponsive. The computer will sometimes start in safe mode, but it varies. I tried Startup Repair tool and all stages of system restore, but none of these work.

I got to use Acronis true image10 and creating an image of the system which can then replace the whole computer in all 25mins. This saves me time, rather than wait 2 hours or whatever it is to reinstall the toshiba, but becomes quite ridiculous to have to keep re install every two weeks.

I also tried to buy a stand-alone copy of windows 7 (while recording an image of the partition of toshiba in the case where I need) I think it might be due to all toshiba programs and other bits and pieces that are installed on the computer - it makes much faster startup, but the computer still crashes the same after awhile.

I am sure its some ware conflicts or driver pretty hard, but I don't know what.

    Any help please!

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

I m also do not know what exactly is the problem and I believe that no one here can say that just because it s just a user to user forum.

Fact is that if you have already tried restore factory Toshiba recovery disc multiple times, it s not a software or driver issue because it s an image pre-tested by Toshiba.

I guess it must be a hardware malfunction and therefore, you should contact a service provider for help. Guys can check your laptop and if it of under warranty, the repair is free.

You can find a list of aspic here:

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite A660 - 18 BIOS update & fails (re-visited) HARD drive recovery

Referring to an old thread from my friends...

I tried earlier to update the BIOS of v1.80 for v1.90 (whether by the automatic update tool Service Station and the direct download of the update of the BIOS).

Whenever the update of the BIOS ran, he abandoned arguing that the battery was low (it was not), alternating current was not on (it is) and the existing BIOS version was superior to the new version (it wasn't).

The real problem seems to be that the version of the BIOS (as shown in "Toshiba HWSetup") is:

    + The BIOS version = V234567890. 00/00/00000000000 +.
    + Version EC = 1.80 +.

However, in the Diagnostic PC Toshiba tool the BIOS version on the page of basic information is correctly reported as 1.80

At the point where I couldn't be worth blat my disc with the original image and try again. I was hoping that Toshiba would set the BIOS update to fix the problem. Didn't happen.

They released v2.00 BIOS in June 2011 and would not always up to date. So I backed up my data and tried to blat of the machine to factory State. What a nightmare...

The recovery image doesn't work well at all!

The first bit works (the original partition creation and image copy), but after the startup of Windows and the script factory Toshiba intervenes, all sorts of problems begin.

First of all, the thing stuck several times in a process of "assessment of system performance. This happens in several phases of reboots because the drivers are installed. Then there's a bunch of bug script error messages and DMI analyze the errors you will need to click on ' close and do not report the crash "type dialog. What makes it more difficult is that the Toshiba factory configuration script sets up a blank page trying to see you on what the bureau is to be avoided. Even if you try to pass in the Manager of tasks to complete the process deadlocked, it gives you a few seconds grace before forcing the Office to lock and hide behind the white screen again. If you're quick and good time, you can stop the evaluation of performance at a standstill (I think it's just the thing to the Windows Experience score). Same thing to reject the other boxes of error...

Finally, I arrived at the end of the script and the machine was built with all of the original software.

The program HWSetup still reports the version of BIOS of nonsense and the PC Diagnostic tool always reports it correctly.

The Service Station program now does not even start. It crashes with a message + "request the Toshiba Service Station could not initialize. Try to restart or reinstall the application. » +. I downloaded the last being on the website and installed... To be hosted later with the same message.

Program update direct BIOS for v2.00 made his usual thing you ask that the current BIOS version is greater than 200 and abandonment.

I even read in a FAQ that some recovery routines do not work correctly with more than 4 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). So I did all of this once again with only 4 GB installed and the script was just as broken for 4 GB 8 GB.

I ran PC complete diagnosis for machine test suite and it turned up nothing.

A little confused now... Maybe time to log a failure while I have a few more months of warranty left. But the machine actually works, just can't update the BIOS. Would be my luck if a problem arose just after the warranty has expired, and they said 'just update the BIOS...

In front of me, I 3 laptop years. Over the past three years, Toshiba has offered 3 BIOS updates. I don t care about it and still use the original version that I got with my laptop. I want to say, why change anything and start this risky If update everything works fine and it does.

Several times I have read here that people write about the problems of updating the BIOS and damaged BIOS. This risk does not apply to me just having the latest version.

Anyway, if you want to have all past orders on your laptop, it is without a doubt your legitimate right. In General, the BIOS updates are tested before Toshiba offers for download so I really put t understand why you have this kind of problems. The problem with the installation of recovery is also strange.

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought A660 and I helped him create recovery DVDs, and we also tested the recovery procedure everything including the three options:
    Back to out-of-box state
Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    Get a custom size partition

Everything worked perfectly so I m really confused about everything you write.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with this. When I could have your laptop in front of me to see exactly what is happening, it will be much easier to understand all of this.
I updated the BIOS on different laptops, and I got lucky because every time that everything was fine.

Your laptop is guaranteed valid so I recommend you contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for assistance.
What do you think about this?

  • Satellite A200 28H: F6 floppy will not work when installing XP

    Hello

I am trying to install Windows XP pro on my new laptop (Satellite A200 28 H), and since it needs driver SATA, I downloaded the driver suitable for my laptop (Satellite A200 28 H), put it on a floppy disk for use with a USB floppy drive (which works fine), press "F6" when appropriate and everything... But it simply doesn't. I had training as a technician for a few years, so even thouh that is no longer my work and I might be a little rusty, I think I still know at least a little what I do... Well, apparently I'm more image than I thought!

I've tried several things, and this is what I get:

    * If I don't use all the disks, Windows XP will not find the hard drive. Which was intended, no problems here, don't except for the fact that it is completely useless for me :)

    * If I force the driver on the floppy disk, despite Windows tells me that is already a driver that can be used, then within 10 seconds I get a BSOD with the stop message 0x7B (found or inaccessible boot device).

    * If I use the floppy drive, but do not force the driver and listen instead of Windows ("oh, you already have a driver? ("OK, then, use and too bad that diskette"), I can actually finish the installation process. Windows will copy all the necessary files on the disk, it will even restart correctly after that and moved on. But when the installation is complete, the computer will restart, I'll see the loading for a second screen, and then, BSOD stop 0x7B again.

I'm sure I downloaded the driver for my computer. In fact, I also tried a couple of bad drivers too, just to be safe (IE I use Intel Matrix for ICH8M, but I also tried the ICH7M to be sure), I tried with drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site, on the site of Intel and whatnot-other-website-for-newbies-or-powerusers, and I still have the same behavior as described above.

I tried partitioning / formatting during installation, and I also tried leaving the file system intact. If I do the latter, the only difference is that I have offered 2 possible OS to boot from, the two being Windows XP and both failed miserably.

It's probably worth mentioning that, if I use the recovery DVDs and start over and clean with Vista, I have no problem whatsoever, except for the loaded gazillion process during startup, the RAM already used half and applications useless hundred I don't give a darn on... And the fact that some applications that I need work just can not be installed on Vista.

If anyone has any idea how to solve this problem, I would be very grateful!

    Hello

The procedure, including the SATA drivers in Win XP using the external USB floppy drive is very easy.
First you need to download the Storage Manager and having to put on the diskette.

During the installation of Win XP you must press F6 for inclusion since the external floppy drive and follow the new instructions on the screen.

    _Note; _
Very important is that your XP CD Win would contains SP2!
Without SP2 a BSOD can appears and could break up of installation!

Don t format or don t create all partitions after the installation of the SATA driver. It can erase the installed and included from HARD disk SATA driver.

Last but not least some readers of external floppy drive are not supported. I read that some users had some problems with an external FDD drives they tested another drive and it worked finally

Check the recommendations may indicate that it might be useful

    Good bye

  • Satellite L650-S5096 - error when installing recovery

My brother ordered me this laptop online from Best Buy for my Christmas present in Dec.2010. After I opened and he started upward, I did then the system backup disc as it was told to do. I showed that I needed to 4 discs for back to the top after the fourth disc, he said that it was over. OK, so now I know that I've saved it in addition to the recovery partition also.

So, last month, I wanted to do a restore of the system on this laptop. So I pulled out the 4 disks and put in the first and he did his thing and then asked for the 2nd and so on. Then after the fourth was done he said to put in the next disc, but I don't have a fifth backup drive. He had me only use 4 when I got it to save.

And then abandoned on the problem of disk and restarted and I got to the recovery partition. So after that I started the process by clicking ok for all the warnings about everything will be deleated I arrived at the first installation process, then after five minutes, he went to the next process where it says "Copy files" and after 30 seconds or so, a box appears asking to insert the next disc.

So I called Toshiba and talked about using technology, and they told me to unplug everything on the laptop and then turn it over and remove the battery for a minute. And then reconnect the power cord and then put the battery in and turn on the computer.
So after she started upward he went to the BIG WARNING page on everything will be lost and deleated so I cliked next and next through the next coupld of no, then it poped an error message that says (error: F3-F200-0002).

After repeating the process a few times the same thing continues to be. So when I talked to Jasmine on 11/06/2011 from technical support, she told me I can call Monday 13 and ask for the case manager and that she would approve that they send me a recovery disk free presence that is the disk does not copy at the moment where I followed it there Backup Wizard and he recovery partition is messed up. So I called the case manager today, and Doug told me that I have to pay to get the recovery disk.

In my view, it's very bad customer service and I will never buy another thing from Toshiba again. And I will make all my colleagues and friends know that I went thru with this laptop...

    Hello

I always was pleased the service in my country.
However, I think you had some bad luck with the recovery procedure
In my case, I was able to create the successfully recovery disk and everything was ok I ve also recovered the laptop once using the recovery of HARD drive and it worked too

However, new recovery disc can be ordered here: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
It s not expensive: 30 Euros

  • Satellite A660-158 want covers do not

Since I bought the laptop (17.09.2010) I'm not using the recovery option. But once I want to use them he does not leave. Not on F8, not on F12, not on F11, not on 0 (zero). The utility called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator tell me it's something wrong with the hard disk drivers, but I do not install the disk drivers, they are original.

Anyway I have install the clean Windows 7 from the MSDN DVD and use my number series, all is well here, but the ECO button want does not. All buttons works fine but not touch ECO. It will beep, but is not and the Eco utility (program and all the drivers installed). Finally, with the score HDDRECOVERY all right - it is the first partition on the disk and hidden.

Why I can't start the recovery? I am now pressed a lot a lot of buttons one by one, but recovery not starting not not... :(

    > Why I can't start the recovery?
    Your answer is:
    >.. .i install Windows 7 clean from the MSDN DVD and use my serial number
When you install own OS the created recovery options Toshiba and bootloader is rewritten, so there is no way to start the HARD drive recovery process because the option fix my computer in advanced startup option will be missing.

In the history I n t understand the first part. When you get the new Satellite A660 you will have factory settings. When you start for the first time you will be able to create using recovery disk pre-installed Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. Have you created this disk?
By default, recovery image is saved on a small partition of HARD drive. It is not visible in windows Explorer, but in the disk management options and if you change something here, this Toshiba tool will be not have full access to this small partition.

  • Satellite C660 - 115 Win7 update stuck in the loop. SOLVED!

I have a Satellite C660-115 which is stuck in a loop "of despair".
I am a COMPUTER engineer support and a customer brought this laptop of mine, who was stuck in a loop of repair Win7 (64-bit prem) that simply says Win7 could not be repaired.

I backed up the profiles of subscribers using Hiren boot CD (done chkdsk as well - everything is OK), and then did a factory restore.
No problem at all with the restoration.

Started doing the updates for Win7; SP1 seems to install OK without errors.
The system then picked up 37 Win7 updates automatically and asked to reset.
Upon reboot, Win7 entered "drvload.exe" and started an auto repair.
It took time and the system started OK, but without any sign of SP1, looks so much like system restore to an earlier point?

I though this update to process 3 times now and each time after that a lot of auto update, the same sequence occurs.

How to exit this loop? What is causing this problem, which I have never seen before?

No software has been installed, other than that of the recovery process.
I even uninstalled McAfee, just in case this could be a problem - no change.

Ah, just took another look. It is stated in Win7 system registers that the restoration was caused by a corrupted file C:\ci.dll. Google to find it was a sign by a rootkit virus in the HARD Master Boot Record disk (the file ci.dll itself is NOT damaged). Found a fix tool

    http://support.Kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?QID=208280684

It identified the rootkit and removed.
    Seems to be OK now!

Hope this post could help others.
Of course, the factory restore does not erase the HDD MBR rootkit...

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Satellite A660 HDD failure

    Hi all
I've had the laptop for someone to look at.
The laptop model is TOSHIBA SATELLITE A660, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
This is not my laptop, I can't tell if the person has been using some software dengerous like spyware or any other, but I suppose that it is very likely.

+ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? +
There is a problem with the HARD disk, a message all the time, SMART 'failure predicted on hard drive '. PC is running, but slow, and not always to start Windows. Has more no guarantee on the computer, the store where it was purchased no longer exists. I don't have a recovery CD and Windows is stored in the recovery partition.
The owner of the PC complained of strange noises from PC for a while, but I didn't hear myself.

    + WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR? +
I searched the forums for an answer, but I have not found.
I tried to look at the HARD drive, it is stable, not loose and seems fixed correctly.
First thing I tried was the disk check, but it wasn't even to start. When I restarted the PC once I gave a chkdsk command, there was a black screen with info, it will start the process in 10,9,8... 1 sec, he stuck to 1 sec and never begun the process. After some time I left he thinks, PC off by itself (AC adapter / CC was pulged in all time).
I tried to find the computer, I brought to the factory settings, but it did not help. The problem is always present and laptop is terribly slow. BTW, I had to try twice, once there was an error: error F3-FFCC-0006, I discovered, that the error appears when the AC adapter / CC was missing, but it is pluged in all the time.
I brought the BIOS to its factory settings, which is probably not relevant.

    + WHAT I WANT TO KNOW? +
Is there a possible way to repair the HARD drive?
OK, I agree that I probably need to buy a new HARD drive, there is only one thing I would like to know. How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD? I do purchuase CD from Microsoft? Purchuased of TOSHIBA recovery CD solve my problem?

    Thanks for any help.
I will appreciate it asap, cause this laptop is required by the owner of that an option to send the laptop to the service and wait weeks for some 'help' is not an option.

    > Is there a way to repair the HARD drive?

No, what you can do is to repair / fix the bad sectors on the HARD drive, but if there is a physical problem, it will not help

    > How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD?

The key belongs to the image of Toshiba that I n t think that it will work to activate the system installed using MS Win 7 disc
However, you can download Windows 7 image of page Microsoft (google for it)
Then you can burn the image to disk using Nero or other burning application supporting iso burning and could use this disc to install Windows 7

Otherwise, you can order the Toshiba recover drive here:

I have problem with my Toshiba Satellite A660. Sometimes when I play it freezes and I can't even move the pointer that all freeze them then I have to stop with force.
Once it freezes during a restore and that what do me worried about would be a secondary problem (amount of money).
I tried to take it to one that he calls himself a Toshiba service company and they told me that the problem is solved, but he didn't.

So I hope that everything would be help me I m in a bad situation here.

    Hello

I understand your situation but to be honest, I put t know how to help you.
I put t know what that solved the service and what they did with your laptop, but what you can do is to install the OS by using the recovery image (on DVD or HARD drive) and to monitor closely what will happen in the future.

While gaming, don't forget your laptop is placed on the desk and the cooling fans should not be stuck with a few Pater, books or anything else. before you start the game go portable high performance power plan and check that cooling in this plan of the power method is set to the maximum level.

  • Satellite A660 - will not start initialize drive HARD failure

    Hello
first of all thank you for your time.

    Model: Satellite A660 (PSAW3A-07U00R)

The problem started yesterday, the computer has been going slowly as a closed application, so I held the off button until the pc is turned off. When I restarded the laptop, it went to a screen saying: start windows normally or repair Windows (recommended)

When started normally it hangs just a blank screen, repair Windows recommends a system restore to a previous point that did not work. As it crashes again. I tried pressing F8 and boot in safe mode, but even once it just hangs. Then, after having repeatedly tried safe mode and another system restore the computer then hangs when I press F8. After that, the computer passes in front of the Toshiba logo with F2 and F12 options screen (which still works) and then it rises the initialization has failed then shuts off and comes with start-up bootfailed failed with a few numbers and letters, then it goes to a small box entitled menu starting with 4 options. These are some

If I press ESC, it passes through the loop of bootfailed and ends at the same screen, if I press on enter "HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX" then he quickly returned to the screen and at the bottom it says [HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX] failed.

I do not understand why it has gotten worse over time. Can anyone think why it occurred and more importantly, how can I get my pc working again? Note: held 0 then start does nothing for me atm

    Best regards, Matthew

    Hello Matthew,.

To be honest, I agree with Akuma and it could be related to a dysfunction of HDD the error you described, but ensure 100% there s no software problem, you should try the Toshiba Recovery disk Windows installation. Something may be confused until the Windows installation and recovery of files on the HARD drive, so it cannot be started. Recovery disc will resolve this problem by formatting the HARD drive and restoring the settings box.

If it still doesn t it work s hardware malfunction but an authorized service provider can solve these problems under warranty for free. So just contact the guy and ask for help. ;)

If you have other questions or already solved the problem, please let us know!
