Satellite A660 - Broadcom internal wireless adapter does not work

Hi all

My first post to this forum - I have a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite A660 - only had for about 4 weeks and it turns out be a disaster for me...

Firstly - I spend weeks getting everything on and configured as I want - then the hard drive begins to die...

I just returned it service center Toshiba and NOW wifi has stopped working...
Internal broadcom wireless adapter doesn't work - but according to windows and built-in Diagnostics it works...

HOWEVER - when I try to use wireless with the built-in adapter may not detect all wireless networks...

I then plug in my adapter netgear usb wireless backup and I can pick up and connect both of my wireless home networks...
I am moving abroad in a few weeks and need to know that my laptop will work/be reliable and not have any problems-if anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

John.

Before starting the scan for available wireless networks you have activated WLAN card correctly?

I recently had some problems with my laptop.
A couple of weeks, I put in a disc of OpenSuse.
It's not stable anything, but locked me out of my original Vista operating system.

I reinstallled Vista Home Basic, but there are a few problems.
Mainly, my wireless adapter does not work.

When I flip the button to turn it on nothing happens and it is not recognized in Windows.
I installed Atheros Driver, but still nothing happens, light is not yet.

    Any advice?

    Hello

First check the device-> network adapters area manager
You see the WLan card? Or the unknown device appears?

If there is an unknown device, then the WLan driver has not been installed correctly or you tried to install a driver badly these two options are possible.

Remember that your wireless network card? Maybe it was a Realtek WLan card?

If it's a Realtek WLan card, try the WLan driver from the Realtek website and look for 802.11 g (RTL8187B) chip or you will simply check the page of the European driver Toshiba too the Realtek WLan driver also appeared on the Toshiba page

I install win7 in my fujitsu siemens AMILO Li 1718 model system, all the drivers are installed but I have problem with my wireless, wireless is not see the amything all available wireless driver is installed courrently can someone help me solve this problem

    Hi Amy,

It seems that your wireless adapter does not work.

There is no Windows 7 drivers for your model. You can check this link for simple information.

    http://support.TS.Fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=689AC3EC-583D-4B7F-8D1A-CED2F9D7EED8&info=FTS

I suggest you to visit the above link and download Vista drivers for your wireless card. Install them in compatibility mode.

Refer to this link: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows.

If the problem persists, I suggest you contact Fujitsu support:

  • WUSB600N wireless adapter does not work if hooked up to Windows startup

I have the adapter WUSB600N wireless, and I use it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I use the latest available driver, 3.0.10.0. When Windows first starts, the adapter does not work properly and is unable to connect to any network, regardless of how long wait. If I unplug it and plug it back after that Windows is already running, I don't have this problem. This does not work when the "reboot" of the machine; only when turning the power off and then on again.

Do you have an error message when attempting to connect to the wireless network?

Try to uninstall and reinstall the wireless card and see if that helps you.

  • HP dv6-6c10us: HP dv6-6c10us Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter does not work after windows 10 installed

I have a laptop HP dv6-6c10us with a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter.  It worked fine on Win 7.  When I upgraded to win 10, it has stopped working.  The driver has not been updated since 06/02/13.

Until the driver is updated by Broadcom or HP, this computer is now a desktop computer.

Any suggestions on how to get the adapter wireless on Windows 10?

I recommend you to go back and do a system restore to a point before started to install the automatic updates, and where worked the wireless.

Then download this tool that stops updates to install automatically.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3073930

Hide all of them and then install one by one until you find the one that is to destroy the wireless connection.

When you have found the culprit just hide it again and it will not be installed.

You can create a system restore point each time you install an update.

Tedious, but you should get where you want to be.

  • RALink RT5390 wireless adapter does not work

My g6 pavilion laptop wifi adapter was not properly work recently. my internet router and networking are works well as it should, but whenever I restart my laptop, repeat me that there is no link and no other wifi networks when there are clearly other networks because of my neighbors.

I tried a system restore to solve the problem, but it has no effect and my norton affects the restoration of the system to disable the antivirus.

I'm stuck on ideas to solve this problem and I don't know much about networking and internet stuff, so I'm pretty powerless here

Here is a link to my features of laptops if necessary:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03136241

These ralink adapters are simple ol ' sh * t. I don't know if it will be a complete solution for you, but I was pulling with my network card for months and this has proved to be the most effective for my computer. I have a HP Envy luck to be equipped with a Ralink RT3290, Windows 8.

    so...

Out of the box, my computer was working fine and it connected to the network OK. As soon as I moved further away from the router, I known constant dropouts, and the connection always folds between the low signal strength, to completely disconnect the router, where I had to re - connect manually there. This question really frustrating. I use my computer on the top level of my house, and the router is in the basement. If I was getting sick of this fast. Update driver after update driver, no luck. After trying everything under the Sun, I decided I would bite the bullet and I tried something a little bit Orthodox...

I just uninstalled the driver for my computer. Yes, really. When a component on your computer a driver is stripped, Windows software has a few drivers that will install by default for your material so that it can remain functional on your computer. So, once remove the driver ralink on my computer, windows installed sound driver by default for my network card and... Voila! My connection problems are virtually non-existent at this point. The material is not always the best, but at least I can surf the net in my room without my connection affected by constant stalling.

Now, other that the light on the button stuck wireless with an orange glow and list my NIC as #10 Device Manager, I always use this driver with minimum questions. Occasionally, he'll forget the connection once I wake the laptop from sleep, but this issue has been much worse with the ralink drivers than without.

If you are aware of the risk (what is low, to be realistic, this can always be undone and you can always reinstall drivers ralink so that deosn proved to be an effective solution), I will explain in detail how I managed to do.

    (1) open Device Manager (right click the lower left corner in windows 8 and a shortcut appears in the drop-down below)

    (2) find network adapters and display its contents

    (3) make a right click on your wireless network adapter (should be something similar to "Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n... ") and click on"Uninstall"in the menu drop-down

    (4) a popup should appear and you should be given the possibility to uninstall or cancel it. Make sure you check "suppression software driver for this device" until you go forward, or Windows re - install the ralink driver.

-Search for new hardware if your network card is not detected after you have uninstalled it. Your card should appear as "802.11n Wireless LAN card"

-If you have an installer driver ralink that is newer or equal to the driver that is already installed, you can run the Setup program to remove any driver software remains which is usually overlooked by the device during the uninstallation Manager there from your computer

-As an option, you can check potential driver leftover files C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. It is important to search for remains that Device Manager / ralink Installer may have missed because it can potentially conflict with the replacement of windows WLAN driver. pilots should have a short name for your adapter (e.g. rt3298.sys); they shouldn't be hard to find. Be careful as well; IT IS WISE TO ALWAYS SAVE no matter WHAT DRIVER SOFTWARE, YOU CAN REMOVE in CASE YOU MAKE a MISTAKE.

    (5) re - enter your information network and you should be good to go!

I hope that it is of no help to you. People who know nothing about what they will tell you to install the latest driver and yatta yatta yatta this way, because it does not work I had to take the liberty to try to find a solution for these adapters cursed myself. I hope this helps a bit your question!

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M - brightness adjustment does not work after hibernate

Sometimes, I find that you use F6, F7 to control brightness does not work. This only seems to happen after a fresh reboot, but after being out of hibernation.

I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and using the latest NVidia driver (obtained from toshiba yesterday Web site): 8.16.11.8988

A way to solve this problem?

    Hello

From my own experience, I can say that all the FN buttons work perfectly after hibernation, standby, restart, etc.. No problem at all!

I put t know what is the problem, but in your case would be to reinstall the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards. Two tools to control the FN key functions and can be downloaded from the official page of Toshiba.

But before you reinstall it, remove older versions first. Then install VAP, restart and finally Flash Cards Support utility.

  • Satellite L300-17N (PSLBCE) - wireless card does not work

    Hello

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L300 (PSLBCE) that came without any operating system and the dirvers. I installed WXP PRO SP2 above and downloaded all the drivers from the Toshiba site. Everything has been installed ok and functional except for the WLAN card. The wireless network card, it is a Realtek RTL8187B but it is not recognized by my laptop: if I Check Device Manager it does not appear (it does appear that "Network controller" with yellow mark). Then I went to Realtek website and download new drivers from there and installed again... also with these dirvers WLAN card still not recognized.

No idea this coud be the problem? I don't know that I have downloaded the correct dirvers from Toshiba Web site as well as the Realtek site... but none of them helped. The chipset drivers have also been installed and also the last BIOS version (my BIOS version is newer than the one on the site of toshiba with the drivers for this model)
May this be a conflict with the other dirvers or WXP PRO SP2?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy

Satellite L300-17N does not support Realtek RTL8187B but Intel 11 a/b/g (13ch) - Golan Wlan card.

I recommend to visit the portal of Toshiba Europe WLan and recommend to download and install the driver Intel WLan from here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/?page=downloads

Here, you can try the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945/4965/5100/5300 driver package!

    I would appreciate your comments

    Hello

    I agree with resident.
The Wlan switch on the side of the laptop has all the drivers and it works independently of the installed software!

The FN + F8 key combination that allows the WLan should work on if install you value added package.

You should also check if the WLan card is set on IT in Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card.

    See you soon

  • D Link Wireless Adapter does not work with Windows 7

I looked in the Windows Compatibility Center and it says my D-Link WUA-2340 wireless adapter is compatible with Windows 7. Our newest computer can see my wireless network, but does not connect. Worked fine with Vista. Then it is compatible or not? I downloaded the latest drivers from the D-Link's Web site, this version is one year old. Support D-link told me that it is not compatible with Win 7. They say that it is not. MS says it's. It does not connect. Anyone know what is happening? I do not have to buy a new adapter.

    Hi Mike,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

D Link WUA-2340 is compatible with Windows 7, but you will need to download the software of your product from the link below. Select the appropriate Version of the operating system before you download.

I even called Toshiba and they offered me almost nothing, but a headache and I'm still not even if they have a driver hidden somewhere.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M: the display does not work with nVidia drivers

    Hello world.

    First of all:

I use the default pre installed SB (w7-64) and nothing more is installed on it, except the toshiba software.

The problem is that, while I use the default driver installed that everything works well, if I update the nvidia drivers, I can't change the brightness more.

It cannot be changed by fn + f6/f7
cannot change it in windows through "brightness".
no change in the power management profile.

(I can put different brightness levels, but nothing is happening!) (I hope you understand what I mean)

the only way to do it is using nvidia Control Panel.

even if use windows utility to update windows drivers download the same drivers and there is the problem.

the only way to fix it is to reinstall the default driver.

but I don't want to use the prehistoric driver!

How can I do to fix this? is this a known issue?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

Since the nVidia page nVidia drivers are not pre-tested and not certified by Toshiba, it s not recommended to use these drivers.
You must use graphics drivers of Toshiba because the drivers are modified and created for the use of the laptop. These drivers support own device of thermal protection that protects the graphics chip.

I think that the issue has nothing to do with the Toshiba FN button software because brightness can be affected, even using Windows 7 power management

I recommend to go back to the original drivers Toshiba!
