Satellite A660: Upgrade of the possible keyboard backlight?

Hi guys,.

I was thinking to replace my computer laptop keboard (satellite A660-18) with a keyboard backlight. Do you think it will be posible?
I found on the internet for about £30-40, and it declares compatible with the Satellite A660.

Thank you.

Hello

You should check this thread:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=233069

You will find great shots of keyboard backlight and some information
You should check if the motherboard supports an additional connector called JBLG and is located on the right side of the connector of the main keyboard.
If it is available, then you can update the device with a supported keyboard backlight.

Hope I could help a little

    Hello

I have this model of laptop, but AFAIK this light in the BIOS option is for function buttons. With this option, you can enable/disable illumination for these buttons.
In my opinion it has nothing to do with the keyboard.
Mobile phones with keyboard backlit have BIOS option for keyboard only and you don't have it so I think that it is not supported by the BIOS and upgrade is not possible.

  • Satellite A660 - lines on the screen

    Hi all

Recently, I noticed that when I turn on my laptop there is a band of what looks like a line of black spots. In addition, I've got lines everywhere which makes it almost impossible to see!

Now there is no way in hell I dropped it nor have I nothing left on the laptop at all, and when I checked, it was not visible cracks on the screen. With respect to maintenance, I use it a hell of a lot in college but I usually carry it in a laptop bag which has a compartment for him, I turn it on whenever I use it not and I certainly go a drop or leave anything on what could cause it to crack.

That's happened through hell? Could he cracked internally? And if so, how the basis that occur with or without any force? Unless it might have been a trauma that I didn't know, but saw that it happened about 45 minutes after the last, I turned off and turned on AND that it is in the same place I left it that was on my desktop, I would say that's a far-fetched possibility.

I bought this 29 September last year so I'm still covered by the warranty. I checked online that I have an "international limited warranty. -What is the standard warranty? I also checked if the screen is covered by the warranty and it says in him "NOT COVERED" who:

"Damage caused by accident, intentional or accidental misuse, abuse, neglect or improper maintenance, use under abnormal
conditions, including fracture or damage to the LCD (screen), treatment of cases, cables, adapters, keyboard keys, lids, caps
    and latches. »

Because she is probably 'accident', this means that what is not covered? Here's the bollocks. There must be a way that this could be covered by the warranty? I'm not in any kind of position to spend another big buck to get this repaired thing...

I bought this from Harvey Norman, Australia, which is a well known retailer for these kinds of products.

Any help is very useful and I look forward to your responses.

    Kind regards

    Charles.

    Toshiba Satellite A660.

    Hello

Are you sure that this problem is related to the internal screen? Theoretically, it could be the graphics card itself and you can check this by connecting an external monitor. If you can see the same lines on it it s graphic card itself, otherwise the screen inside.

But I think that in both cases, you need professional help of an authorized service provider. Guys can check your laptop, the new order parts and replace them for you. Also, they can you give an exact answer if this is under warranty or not. Here in the forum we can only speculate on that and he s only forum user.

So get in touch with an ASP in your country. I'm sure that the problem could be solved as soon as possible with the guys. :)

  • Satellite A660-149 - update the display driver

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A660-149 with a Nvida GT330M and Windows 7 64-bit driver.
TEMPRO gives me updates to download 260,51 drivers from the toshiba site but it says model 3d only. Who doesn't have my portable 3d capabilities. When I go to the NVIDIA site, it says download the 260 drivers. I've also heard you need to install drivers of manufacturing is it true?

The other problem is that I get an error display sometimes say "display driver stopped responding and recovered." The im driver uses is the 189.58.

. Been using this version of the driver since I have my laptop on a few months ago.

    Thank you

    Bio Hi,

As far as I know, that you can install the new display driver from Toshiba Web site 260 because 3D means the 3D on external monitor support and as far as I know it of possible with GT330 M graphics card.

Just check the other threads here in the forum, everything you need to know is already written:

  • Satellite A660 - sensitivity of the button Delete

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A660 a week ago. Everything is fine, except for one thing so far: the delete button must be perfectly struck in the middle of work. What I mean is that if you press the button Delete, even very slightly off center (laterally), it does nothing. All the other buttons I have tested work perfectly - even if you touch or the other side.
In view of the frequency of use of the button Delete in the edition, you can imagine how frustrating it is!

How can I get it repaired or replaced?

    Thank you very much.

    Gary Bartlett

    Hey Buddy,

It's not easy to say something about this, but from my own experience, I can say every key on the keyboard has the same sensitivity, I don t notice any difference between the buttons.

So in your case I contact an authorized service provider and ask the guys on this problem. They can tell you if it of normal or not and if not they can replace the keyboard. It would be free if your laptop is under warranty. :)

As you say, you can change the keyboard input language.
If you put WE change to the English of the United States. In this case, you could type the right keys.

  • Is Satellite A660-156 supports the IEEE 802.11n standard?

In my laptop Satellite A660-156 in Windows 7 shows Device Manager that you have installed the card WiFi Broadcom 802.11n, but your site Internet officially supports only wi - fi b/g standard?
This laptop model really does support 802.11n?

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite A660-156 was equipped with the chip BROADCOM BCM94313-HMC WLan.

I have goggled a bit and found information different s; some chips support only 802.11 B and G and some chips seem to support the standard 802.11 N as well.

I think you can check this option in the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab.

There, you should check if 802.11 N is available too.
