  We are all here are users of Toshiba laptops and as you probably don t know this is a user forum. :) so maybe not really ;) experts

  To be honest it s I do not know that this reader of CD/DVD problem.
  Like you probably n t know every CD/DVD drive doesn t takes care of all the s possible CD or DVD from different manufacturers.
  Some CD and DVD is more compatible and some of CD or DVD s are not entirely compatible.

  However, the point is that you need a new CD/DVD drive.
  I checked the manual A200 (can be downloaded from the Toshiba page) and there is a list with some compatible players.
  Check the page for the user 6 and 7

  You can also call the ASP in your country. The guy knows what CD/DVD players are compatible with your laptop!

  I changed mu dvd-driver UJ - 831 (mathusita) S for TS-L532A.
  So, I didn t know dvd-drivers can be CSEL (slave) and no CSEL (master). Then, can not boot from the dvd

  do type C, no work!
  type F12, then select CD/DVD without work!

  How to boot from dvd-driver using TS-L532a as CSEL (toshiba and other doesn´t have supported this drive. Isn´t there is a firmware this driver! )

  PS. I use the latest bios in my toshiba a80-131

  I think to buy another optical driver: UJ-850 (mathisita). But I have to buy CESEL or no CESEL?

  It is a classic problem with optical drives for laptop. It is caused by the fact that the optical drives can be designated as 'Master', 'Slaves' or Csel (Cable Select), but unlike their PC equivalents more large portable optical drives have this setting in the firmware of the player and it is generally not possible to change it by using jumpers or switches.

  If you search these forums you will find messages describing how to connect some of the pins on the optical drive to change the setting, but it assumes you know what setting you need.

  The other possibility is to Google for the firmware updates or "hacks" that can allow you to do the same thing, well if you do not have your laptop to recognize the drive this can be quite difficult.

  Unfortunately most of the suppliers do not advertise the real setting of the optical drive, you may need to check with the builders as to what it is currently set to.

  Hi Tom,

  As you will understand, the CD tray use a mechanical lock to hold it firm when you use. The latch is locked to prevent opening while the disc actually rotates the drawer.

  If you have problems closing the drawer, then it will probably indicate wear or damage the physical locking mechanism. Access to the lock will be the degree of disassembly and it will be very difficult to opbtain the components of the lock, so I think that the best option would be to replace the disk.

  If your device is still covered by a warranty it should be done by authorized service center.

  If your warranty has expired, then you can consider replacing the drive yourself. Several suppliers are located on the internet.

  I have a Satellite P200-1EE and tried to play DVDs on Toshiba HD DVD player but everytime I try it comes up with an error message saying "an error has occurred in the audio output settings. Please check audio driver is set up correctly. »

  I tried the update audio drivers but it tells me that I have already installed the drivers the best.

  What is Vista?

  If yes then another question; have you installed SP1?

  Please also see the European driver of Toshiba page and choose your model of laptop.
  There is a DVD HD v4.32.00 patch reader.
  The other version 4.51.07 HD DVD player is a full version and if the patch won't work, then you must install the full version.

  He's certainly the same question as in your case and the solution was a DVD player patches installation or installation of new full HD DVD player.

  Notes; the Vista should be also updated!

  You created the recovery DVDs?
  It will be interesting to know if the DVD writing is possible.

• Satellite L30-134 PSL33E: CD/DVD player can't read data CD

  I bought my laptop (Satellite L30-134 PSL33E) 4 months ago and I had no problem with the optical drive of my Satellite. But yesterday, I discovered that my drive is no longer can read data CDs.

  I created a CD with the Toshiba ToDisc utility which contained MP3s. The CD works fine on another computer but when I try to play them on this computer Windows laptop tells me that the CD is blank and asks me if I want to save data.

  It doesn't have this problem with the DVD, I can read and write perfectly. My optical drive is a CARPET * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S. Windows says I have the latest driver for it (5.1.2535.0) but it says it's from 2001 (?) in the properties under the selected hardware.

  I think that this message because you are trying to install the update for the DVD Toshiba playback software only. This update requires the full version of the DVD from Toshiba drive.
