Satellite C - wireless switching power

Well, after two weeks of trying to find out how to get on my new Toshiba wireless I actually diiscovered how.

I did everything I could and even followed the instructions via Config tree, and also what a few posters were posted on these forums and also went to the LOA forum help all that apparently to no result, then WALLAH, I was lucky to find the key to security so I punch that in and here I am. No yellow ethernet cord in.

Only now I don't know how to turn off if I occasionally use the ethernet cord. When the battery is low. I know that we have to press the fn + f8 keys but does not seem to work.

Also, I have no orange light display little or any rear light illuminated.

It is not as easy as my other laptop which is now my rescue (the battery is dead) by which you simply press the button and wirless lights (lights orange.)

In any case, I hope that somehow my post here to help others because I know that some have had exactly the same kind of difficulties and going in circles.

Hey,.

> I know we have to press the fn + f8 keys but does not seem to work.
What about other FN keys? Have you noticed if they work properly? If not, the problem is related to flash cards, they appear if you press the FN keys. They must work to enable the wireless network adapter. Flash cards are controlled by value added and Flash Cards Support utility package. These two tools, which you can download here:

Also, make sure that the most recent driver WLAN to WLAN Portal is installed:

I installed XP on my L300 - 110 (PSLB0E), cause I don't like Vista. I installed all the drivers, and everything is quiet OK. But one thing little annoying me - wireless, switch, it does not work. So I can turn on Wi - Fi only by pressing Start-> connections and so on.

I need help! Who can tell me, what driver or software do I need to install? Thnx a lot!

    Hello

Do you mean the hardware switch on the side of the fron of the laptop?
Normally this switch still works because he founded material s and must always be defined on IT if you want to use the WLAN and OFF to disable WLAN.

Have you tested the switch on OS preinstalled Toshiba? Maybe it's a hardware problem

Make sure that the latest drivers are installed!

  • ConfigFree on Satellite A80: wireless switch is OFF, when its actually

I've seen several comments on this problem, none of them is resolved.
I'm running an A80. Until I updated the driver wireless and Configfree, Configfree has worked well.
Now, however, no matter what I do, any driver, I installed, or what version of Configfree, now they all insist that the wireless to cut when it is indeed running.
Everything except the Radar works very well. Even now, I am connected to the wireless network.
However - by selecting the Configfree Radar showed the error message
"Wireless is disabled. Please activate the wireless communication switch.

It drives me crazy. I spent three days on this problem. I guess that's not really necessary, because it is only a display - but I want it to work! :-)
I am a very experienced user, but this one is difficult. because I suspect its software based really.
I can't believe that in the world, with many people to see this problem, that Toshiba does not found the difinitive this problem cause and posted a fix.

    In summary.
With original features such as pronounced - it worked and displayed near the wireless stations.

After the upgrade to the latest drivers wireless and Configfree - Configfree actually works but WILL NOT operate the Radar, because he insists on the fact that the wireless switch is DISABLED, when in fact it is powered.

I tried everything, including the FN + F8 - which also seems to be unresponsive. But it could be another problem, I hope. Not interested in this, because the wireless is still on.

If anyone has a solution that works, I'd love to hear about it.
    Thank you

    Hello, Robert

In my opinion ConfigFree is one of the best utilities offered by Toshiba. This utility is pre-installed, I think, on all models of laptops Windows XP Home edition, and I can't imagine that there is a bug.

All of the tools and utilities that you can find in recovery image is suitable for each model of laptop, tested and I really can't imagine that such bug may be there. It is very interesting that you wrote on update. Sorry but I checked the original version and the version offered on the Toshiba download page, and they are absolutely identical (ConfigFree V5.00.45).

I use two Toshiba laptops, both with WXP and I use the CofigFree version that is included in the recovery image. It works perfectly and I see no reason for update (if this update exists, but I don't believe that).

So it will be interesting to know what version of ConfigFree you use and where you have founded an update. Please be so kind and give us more information about this update.

Maybe a few links to other multiple posts may also be useful.

  • Satellite A205: Wireless switch does not and found networks

    Hello

First of all, you should check if the wireless network adapter is recognized in Device Manager and if WLan driver has been installed correctly.
In the Manager of devices-> network cards, you should see the wireless network card.

If it comes to a case then the wireless network card is installed OK.
If this isn't the case, then you must install a Wlan driver. For this Toshiba page check us because Sam a205 is U.S. laptop series.

After that, you must enable the wireless network adapter. There is a Wlan switch on the side of the laptop (frontside?). Allow it! WLAN LED should be on.
You will need to use FN + F8 to switch to the Wlan.

After that, you need to configure the WLan settings. Must be the good name of WiFi (SSID), the right encryption and the encryption password.

PS: I recommend reading some threads here on the forum too!

It worked on Windows Vista. I installed all the up-to-date drivers for the network card wireless, including atheros, configfree, chipset drivers, but no effect.

Please can someone tell me the possibole solution?

    Salahaddin

    Hello

    I agree with resident.
The Wlan switch on the side of the laptop has all the drivers and it works independently of the installed software!

The FN + F8 key combination that allows the WLan should work on if install you value added package.

You should also check if the WLan card is set on IT in Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card.

    See you soon

As far as I know, you can use a PCMCIA wireless card. This kind of wireless card has a built-in antenna. You can google a bit for the right card.

  • satellite P10 wireless

    Hello

Can you please tell me if Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter is listed under network adapters in the Device Manager?

If Yes, it is very important, this card is activated and enabled with wireless switch that must be placed on the left side of your laptop. After that, please check network connections in the control panel. Should there have listed the wireless network connection. Click with the right mouse button and choose View available wireless networks. You can use the advanced option to choose the preferred network and there is possibility to configure with the option properties.

  • Satellite P10: Wireless Radio refuses to turn on

I got a wireless Broadcom BCM4306 (mini-PCI) adapter and put it in my laptop. The specifications of the laptop are:

Toshiba Satellite P10, 768 MB of RAM (256 upgrade) & 2.66 GHz P4 (HT disabled).

The wireless adapter works on another laptop, but not on this one as the guard software complain that the radio is turned off. In the Windows wireless network configuration, it is enabled, but the software doesn't seem to see it. The wireless switch is turned on, but the wireless light is not on i assuming that it lights up when a wireless adapter is present and active. By pressing Fn + F8 does nothing more, no logo appears on the screen for this function or makes no noise.

I have no idea what is the problem, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I read in the forums that covering the 11 pin and PIN 13 of the mini-pci card can make your card can be used. However, it seems that there is no way, for now, to make the change in hardware to work.
You can do a search in this forum, or if you can go on TechSpot.com forum and do a search for "Toshiba Wifi network" in "storage and networking", you will find the message in question. As for me, I got a Toshiba (g) MiniPCI card in my Tecra 9100. It works, but the hardware switch does not work. (The led is off, regardless of the position of the switch hardware, but the card works and there is absolutely no problem to connect. If you discover something, thanks for posting.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite L500 - wireless connection is very slow

    Hey all,.

I have problems with my toshiba satellite L500 wireless very slow. I restored the computer back to factory settings, reset the router and do not know what to do. The only way that I am able to achieve and increase speed of internet is by connecting the laptop to the router.

There are 3 other laptops in the House which is the same model, this laptop runs very fast. My router is a Thomson TG782T.

    Thank you

    Hello

First, I would try to update the WLAN driver. Download the latest version on the Toshiba site and then delete the old version. Reboot the laptop and use CCleaner to clean the system. Restart again and now you can install the latest WLAN driver.

I put t know what operating system you have, but on Vista and Windows 7, you must disable the WLAN energy saving function. You can do this in Windows power management if you change power management.

I had a similar problem and after removing the energy saving function, it worked fast and normal as on other laptops. :)

  • Satellite L300D - Wireless has stopped working.

    Hello

I use the laptop connected to internet wireless very well for some time now, both at home (via a router) and at the University, but until recently, when I switched the laptop on and he ceased to connect to the internet.

The icon in the taskbar indicates that it is connected to a network, but at the local level and does not connect to the internet, the wireless switch shows that it is on and if the button is the fn + f8.

I contacted the technical support to the router, as I had initially some worries with it a fair all the time, but they seem to think that this is a problem that the laptop itself because it connects to the internet very well if the cable is connected to him directly, but when it was via the wireless, the router was not find the device at all.

I was wondering if someone could give me a helping hand to sort out the situation.
    Thanks in advance.

    > The icon in the taskbar indicates that it is connected to a network, but only locally and does not connect to internet

In this case the refresh IP address could help.
If you want to note the same problem in the future and then start the console (using the CMD command), and then type the command: * ipconfig / renew *.

    Usually, this helps.
In my case, it always helps!

    Hello

You see a BIOS or Toshiba splash screen?
Nothing is visible on the screen?

If this isn't the case, I guess that your laptop developed a serious hardware problem and I think that the parts must be checked by an ASP in your country.
Theoretically, it could be related to memory, processor or motherboard
So first the RAM modules must be verified, and if the RAM modules are ok, then, the technician should follow with processor and motherboard.

  • Tecra S1: Rf Ubuntu wireless switch does not work

    Hi all

I recently bought an Intel mini-PCI wifi card for my Tecra S1 under Ubuntu. It is detected without any problem, Intel provides even native drivers for Linux. However, the hardware to activate wireless switch does NOT work. According to iwconfig, the radio is off. I use the ipw2200 driver which can detect the hardware and the software rf_kill. I can enable and disable software killing RF, but kill him material stays on.

I suspect that the radio feature is disabled in the BIOS but I don't have Windows running on the laptop over to change the setting. Is it possible to access BIOS options under linux? Toshutils are not supported by the tecra because she seems to have a Phoenix BIOS.

    I hope you can help!

    Edwin...

    Hello

Tecra S1 supports BIOS Toshiba you can access BIOS by pressing ESC at the beginning of the startup.
In any case I think you won't find anything in the BIOS.

If you are not able to use the switch of material on the side of the laptop then the Wlan card is not compatible or the hardware switch is malfunctioning. I would say that the card is not supported.
