Satellite C50-B-19V - RTC battery low

Hi all

I ask your help.

I have 15-inch Toshiba Satellite C50-B-19V laptop.
It is 2 years old.

I get RTC battery low message the laptop turned OFF for awhile (without adapter).
When I turn it on, I have to re - set the Date and time in the BIOS.

So I fully recharge via an adapter, and every time I put it to sleep the clock stops just when I put on standby.
So if I put for example standby at 10:00 on March 2, 2016, and I turn it on at 12:00 on March 2, 2016, the clock says 10:00 and March 2, 2016 (the date is not lost).

Laptop works well when on battery (without adapter).
I have WIN 8 is installed.

RTC battery low message is displayed after the laptop is off (no adapter) for a while... (a few days).

Above mentioned laptop is NOT a pile of separate clock when back cover is removed (no battery is visible on the motherboard)...

What to do in this case?

Waiting for your response.
Thank you very much!
Ivan

I would say that the RTC is low and that maybe it's the other side of the motherboard. Find and download the manual for your machine. All PCs have batteries for the CCF and to keep some of the BIOS settings. If it is not under an agreement of service of any kind, take it to a technician, you trust and let check. Otherwise repair by the company with which you have permission. The battery will be there somewhere. They can be painted, I saw that with some motherboards desktop.

  • Satellite A40-S161: RTC battery low

    Hi guys,.

I need urgent help. I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite A40-S161, which gives me the following error whenever I restart the machine "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent."

I took the laptop to my local dealers who replaced the CMOS battery and advised me to leave the machine 'fees' for 6 hours [what I did], and the problem persists. Is there advice that I could follow to remedy the situation?

    Hello

AFAIK in user? manuals it s nice instruction how to deal with it. If I am memory while the unit must be turned on, connected to the power supply current minimum 8 hours.

    Please check!

  • RTC battery low - where is battery CMOS? C50 - B - 14 D

I also get a message at startup and strangely in Windows, low battery RTC. The laptop will simply shut down.

I suppose there is a fault or battery CMOS is actually dead. I removed the bottom to expose the jury and watched various tear downs, but still cannot locate the battery. I removed the main Board and the CMOS battery isn't here. Is there one on these units?

It is a fairly new laptop and otherwise in good condition.

    Any help appreciated.

Some models do not have an RTC battery, they rely on the main battery to keep the time.

  • Satellite A45 - S121 RTC battery low or unstable CMOS

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 that I got from a friend who has left the country...
I keep going back to the same message over and over again and cannot activate it because it keeps doing again and again.

The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart... I looked on the net, and someone said to recharge, the main battery for 8 hrs, will do... NOT.

Another said to rest with charger for 15 h and have the laptop on at the same time... NO help there.
Another was told to change the battery Cmos... Did this... NO help.

I tried F12 thing... the computer is located in the startup Toshiba logo, and as soon as I press another key, it goes back to this message... I can't do the BIOS, and I can't run it from a CD, until I have this message.

    HELP PLEASE.

    Hanks a lot.

    > The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart

Usually this or similar message appears if the battery CMOS/RTC would be empty.
In this case, you should be able to solve this problem of the RTC battery.
    How to recharge?
The laptop must be turned on and connected to the power supply for approximately 24 hours.

But I see you've also already replaced the RTC battery and this message still appears.
In addition it seems that you are not able to access the BIOS to change the date/time settings.
Well, this would mean that there is a serious problem on the motherboard

I think that only a laptop computer technician would be able to help you.

  • Satellite C50-A-19 t - battery of 'bad' health

I only got my Satellite C50-A-19 t 4 months and today I received a notice saying that my battery is now the health "poor." Is it possible to fix this problem and can I do this?

I'm still a free warranty of 1 year comes with the laptop.

    Hello

In General, the battery is part of the laptop and covered by the standard warranty of s for laptop.
In case the battery is faulty, you can contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba to repair/replace the defective part. This should be done free of charge if its guarantee covers the case.

But before you contact the ASP in your country, try to calibrate the battery.
To calibrate the battery, you must load and unload the battery until it s completely empty. This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the line.

If it helps, fine, if not-> to get in touch with service agents.

    Greetings mate.

  • Satellite C50 - A - 1 7 - battery stopped charging

My C50 is a battery problem. A few weeks, it stopped charging. He began to load (as seen on the windows startup icon) slowly to 61% then zipped to 100%. But since then, the computer does not work on battery power. The charging light does not illuminate (, but has then before). Because all intends and purposes, it seems that there is no battery present, except that the software (windows and toshiba help stuff) insists it is a fully charged battery.

Now, it's probably a defective battery or connector, but to avoid going to the shop unnecessarily, I would check if there is an update of the bios available. Since it is a relatively new, maybe not, but the toshiba site is not the clearest. Anyway I couldn't find any update of the bios on the pages for Satellite C50 - A - 1 7.
My bios is currently 1.20 with EC version 1.00

    TNX

To be honest I don't think that the BIOS update can be the solution for this. Anyway, you can check what version of BIOS is available on the download page for BIOS - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp

I'm afraid, you must contact the nearest Toshiba service Mr. they have special tools and can check the operation of the equipment.

  • Satellite C50-A-19 t - very low display

Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19 t Windows 8 and recently the display is almost non-existent.
When I start the machine, I see about the Toshiba Logo and that's it – even, it is difficult to see.

    What I tried:
    (1) external Monitor - external monitor works fine (connected via VGA).
    (2) I have tried the Fn/F4 key to chang what display, tried a few settings and still nothing on the laptop screen
    (3) I have obviously checked the brightness, it's almost max.
    (4) I removed the battery and power, left computer laptop for a while, then tried to turn on the back with the battery still out - nothing else.
    (5) I googled like crazy and tried to remove the battery & power, press and hold the power button / stop for 60 + seconds, made 5 - 10 times in all, still nothing when I power on
    (6) I replaced the screen with another similar toshiba that I know works - it's exactly the same thing.

Is there anything else that I'm missing here?

The laptop works like a dream when connected to an external monitor... and I have removed and reloaded all drivers display, reset the CMOS, etc..

I am confused now and it is one of the children with homework, so my ears get sore!

    PLS HELP!

    > 1) external Monitor - external monitor works fine (connected via VGA)

It is most important information that you have provided in your message.
In case the external monitor is OK, the GPU/motherboard should also be OK.

From my point of few display panel (backlight) is defective.
The backlight of the display is not working properly.

You said that you have replaced the screen well, compatible display board?

  • Satellite L350D - 11O PSLE8E - RTC battery seems to be empty

    Hello

    my laptop:

    Satellite L350D-11O
    model-nr: PSLE8E-01J003GR

    The * bios-battery * seems * empty * (partwise clock stops working)

    -What battery do I need?
    - Can I replace it myself?

    Thanks for the help!

    Kind regards

    Christian Knuf

    Hello

You cannot replace the battery yourself as the disassembly of the laptop is very delicate.
This could damage other parts while trying to disassemble the laptop.

First of all, you know that you can charge the battery of the CCF (BIOS).
To do this you need to connect the laptop to the power adapter and need to run Notepad for over 24 hours.

After that the RTC battery needs to be recharged again.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200-1If - BIOS (RTC) battery this time need

Someone at - it a the bios battery (RTC) spare parts for this motherboard. I just talked to Toshiba - who told me to talk to "Topaz", who told

"It is part of the motherboard, and we cannot get hold of the components to the motherboard. A new motherboard will cost £160. This is the best we can do '

The battery would cost no more than £3.
    Anyone got a please?

    Hello

Maybe it s enough if the RTC battery is charged?
You can charge the battery in the machine for several hours.

  • On Satellite C55-A-19(r) battery low level

I bought my laptop to 31/12/2013 and yesterday Toshiba Pc Health showed me that the State of the battery is low (red)

I m using several hours a day and I find it very weird...

Can someone help me with this?

    Hello

How long the laptop runs on battery power?
How long the battery does not load?

The point is that your laptop is new and battery needs to be calibrated before it would have reached the performance.
To calibrate the battery you must load and unload completely. This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the line.

If this does not help, contact the ASP from Toshiba for the new battery.

  • Satellite C855 - low RTC battery

Bought a brand new Satellite C855 7 months, now get a RTC battery low warning, every time I start, have to reset the date and time. The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

    > The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

This means that the main battery is empty and is probably damaged.
Empty main battery would affect the RTC battery too. So I think that you need to replace the main battery first and then the RTC battery for a longer period of time while the mobile computer is turned on.

The laptop seems to be covered by the warranty (if its 7 months) so the battery must be replaced in warranty conditions.

  • Satellite A40-211: RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent

    Hello

I bought a functioning Satellite A40 - 211 of one of my friends, who had a defective model A60 from where I took the fast hard drive, the memoryupgrade and the internal wifi card, but the only annoying on the A40-211 new thingie is the message that the RTC battery is low or CMOS is incompatible whenever the laptop is turned off and turned on again (which also happens when a warm reboot is done)

After checking the laptop for any other problem (there was none), I decided to replace the RTC battery with a new... about 17,-euros in total cost. (Of the disassemble the whole laptop, but it has more than once 100 or so with other models, takes 15 minutes to disassemble and put them all back again once)
Did charge it new CCF to power the laptop up and leave it for at least 24 hours... (the manual says to do)

No results... always the same... boring message.

I also tried to reflash the bios, but the version 1.50 seems ok and cannot be replaced by the programming software.

So, we have a good laptop to work here, but with an annoying message that cannot be solved?

    Anyone with a good tip?

OK, a response to myself, because I've been tracking something here...

I replaced the hard drive to another laptop (Satellite A60 series) to the A40-211... installing Windows could be transferred, since the IDE controllers are the same... then just install some other vga - and sounddrivers to operate...

But... somehow with the new hard drive and therefore installation, date/time settings are lost after a restart or power off...
I also discovered that the installation of 'old' will not go into sleep - or standbymode... it will only close...

Then. I'll make a recovery disk hard 'new' facility, because it is faster than the original that came with the A40.

I'll keep things updated here... also because this isn't a real solution to the question...

Now, the question is: what makes the time/date setting go lost after this laptop with a non-on-this-laptop-installed-OS off the power?

  • Satellite Pro A10: RTC battery is low or CMOS chesksum unstable

    I have a Satellite Pro A10.

When I turn everything first laptop computer on I get RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is unstable - press F1 to set date/time. When I press F1, I get a beep and it's everything that happens. I'm unable to had to set up or do anything at all with the installation program.

I kept it plugged in for 24 hours, but still the same results. I replaced the CMOS battery with a new. But even once, I get the exact same results.

All that happens when I press F1 and a sound signal. Is this a sign that I have probably a problem with the motherboard?

You can access the BIOS and could try to set the default settings, and then save the settings and start again.
If it doesn't, then it must be another reason for this message.

My first thought was that this error pops up because the BIOS battery is empty.
Usually such charge as described in your ad should help get rid of this message.
But it seems that there is a more serious problem

I m not quite sure what this could be, but the hypothesis that a motherboard could malfunction is not wrong.
I think that a fault of mobo might this causes too.

But in my opinion a mobile technician must check to make sure what's wrong.

  • Question on Satellite C50-B919 battery charging

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-B919, I bought 9 months ago... IT was working fine but all of a sudden it stopped working without the charger is plugged in!

I need to plug the charger all the time!

At the start, it shows that the RTC is low and I need to set the time... I tried to follow the instructions and set the time as well... but it has not yet changed something... once the charger is taken off, it turns off!

    Help, please!

    Waiting for your answer!

    Hello

RTC battery seems to be empty, and that's why the BIOS data and time will be reset always when connected the isn t AC adapter.
The RTC battery, you have to keep the power adapter plugged in for about 18 to 20 hours and the laptop must be turned on!
Then the RTC battery would charge.

However, the main battery seems to be empty too and does it not charge more.
You will probably need to replace the main battery.

  • Satellite P100-423 - RTC battery replacement

I'm happy enough to replace the CMOS / RTC on Satellite P100-423 battery because the device is out of warranty and the battery needs to be replaced.
Le-423 is a build of Costco and not much found after the mandatory, manual Google and research forum.

Can anyone recommend a type satisfying to do this, no clue on the former.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Are you sure that the RTC battery is replaceable?
I ask this question because as much as I know it is not possible on all s models and if it is replaceable you can find the specs on the battery itself if you disassemble the laptop.

Normally, this battery can be charged if you leave the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours. Have you already tried?
