Satellite C650 problem with USB ports
Hello
I have a problem with my laptop, with my USB ports.
A few days ago, I plugged my mp3 to charge its battery. I did when system Windows began and after a few ports seconds has stopped working. They work for one to five minutes after starting my computer, but only after my laptop's turn off for a few hours at night for example.
They work fine and all of a sudden we hear the sound of a disconnected device and usb ports turns off. I tried many solutions but nothing worked. I removed all the USB ports in Device Manager.
I checked in the BIOS, but everything seems to be okay. I tried to disable the disconnection of usb ports to save energy, nothing. Tools that have been provided by Toshiba to check hardware see as usb ports work correctly. Only usbdview program sees as unknown device, I tried to uninstall it through this program but still nothing.
You have an idea, what could happen? Or if there is no possibility to fix without service visit?
I would appreciate your help.
Hello
Have you tested these ports USB plug a USB mouse or a USB keyboard?
These devices work properly?
I don t think you need a visit to the service.
I think that it s just a software problem
Given that the USB ports are controlled by the chipset, I would recommend reinstalling/updating the chipset driver
The alternative is a bit drastic, I think about the recovery of the laptop...
It might be possible that the registry has been confused upward or some 3rd party software preinstalled on the laptop could affect the USB ports.
I remember that my USB ports do not work after installing iTunes.
I had to reinstall the operating system once more to get the USB port work even more funny is that I installed iTunes once more and USB worked correctly

Re: Satellite C650 - problem with the devices connected to USB ports
Hello
Can help someone, I have a C650 and everytime I try to connect to something to him via the USB ports, it is not "found" by the computer?
The other night, I tried to get pictures on my phone but it wasn'; work and I put it down to a problem with the phone, but today I tried to install something digital crafts for my daughter and during installation it tells you to insert the thing into the USB port and click Next, when I do that he's going through a lot of "research" and said then it can not be found.
The laptop makes a beep sound as it would on an extraction device when you plug... I hope that makes sense. So I am now assuming that the problem is with my computer, is there something I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advanceSorry should add - it's like nothing is plugged at all when it is, and it happens on two USB ports, not just one...

Hello
What happens with plug n play like USB mouse device?
You are able to use an external USB mouse correctly?> but today I tried to install something digital crafts for my daughter and during installation it tells you to insert the thing into the USB port and click Next, when I do that he's going through a lot of "research" and said then it can not be found.
I guess this could be a problem with the software or drivers installed.I searched a bit and his city that he has a software is compatible with windows vista/2000/xp. Win 7 is not mentioned do not know if this could be a problem, but in your case, I recommend asking the support of this software product for some advice.
In addition, you can try to install this software once more, check whether this USB problem appears again.

Problem with USB port and touchpad satellite A135-S2386
Welcome!
Laptop Satellite A135 in Houston, I bought about a year ago, it was working fine until last Friday. All my USB ports stoped working. I have power to the usb ports, but Windows Vista recognize any tool that is connected to the computer. Only what I get is USB is not recognized, or something like that. The same situation is under Linux (ETCH Deiban), the USB ports does not.
Another thing is touchpad. It does not at all, regardless of it's Linux or Windows. Stoped working in Sunday.
I used the cd recorvery and reinstall Vista, but the problems still exist. Please tell me what to do with this problem.
See you soon
Hello
If the problem persists after using the original recovery media is certainly hardware related issue. I recommend you contact the nearest authorized service provider. They check your laptop.
Sorry, but I really don't think you can do it alone to solve this problem. -
Satellite C650 15Z two USB ports have stopped working / load
Hi can someone throw their professional opinion on a current problem I am experiencing with my
Satellite C650 15Z
Windows 7There are 2 USB ports which are now both inoperative - there seems to be no power from them (ipad/phones do not charge) and any flash drive I insert does not appear as a drive in my computer
and I don't hear audible alerts or message pop ups after insertion. Like I don't know what I look in Device Manager, I thought that someone may be able to help here?
Thanks in advanceHello
In Device Manager, you can try to delete and remove the USB host controller and USB hubs.
All these devices are responsible for the functionality of USB ports.
After you remove the USB host controller and USB hubs, restart the laptop.
Usually the Windows operating system should recognize the devices automatically deleted after that, you can check if the USB feature is back. -
Satellite L870: Problem with USB to serial interface with FTDI chipset
Hi all
bought a L870 year last to run software amateur radio via USB to the serial interface.
Interface uses the FTDI chipset. The problem I have is that the switch on the led on the interface flashes green to red several times to indicate that it works, but then must remain on green but task on every minute she goes through the same process again.
All the controls on the drivers and the Manager of devices indicates that everything is ok. No problem with interface on computers laptops happens or advent.
Is there anything on the Toshiba laurys usb ports every minute.
Thanking you in advance for any ideas
First of all, I must say that there are different models of L870 Satellite on the market supporting different hardware and software. Some are preinstalled with 8 and some Win with Win 7.
In addition the L870 supports USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 standard.
If you recommend to check the different USB ports and check if your software works correctly with the USB 3.0 standard. -

Window vista xps 420 problem with USB ports.
I have problems with window vista dell xps 420 machine, all USB ports are not recognized, unless the computer is restarted or rebooted. anyone has a suggestion.
Hi Miguelsmith,
1. When did you start to question?
2. you remember to make changes to the computer recently?
You can uninstall and reinstall all USB device manager entries and check if it helps.
a. Click Start and typedevmgmt.msc and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
b. expand Bus USB controllers.
Note: You will need to scroll down to find this point.
c. the first USB controller under Bus USB controllers right click and then click on uninstall to remove it.
d. Repeat steps above for each controller USB is listed under Bus USB controllers.
e. restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.
f. check the USB device to see if it works

Satellite Pro L10-103 - USB ports not working not
Hi, my Satellite Pro L10 - 103 USB Ports do not work. I tried different things and finally my Advisor rubbed my computer clean of all programs and operating system. After reloading of the set up disc and having lost my dear some programs I am no further forward. It still does not.
Anyone know if this means that it is a mechanical problem with the computer? (I use Windows XP). Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Buddy,
As wrote Akuma did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the Microsoft Windows disk?
After installing XP, make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed. It contains important updates and can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.
In addition, try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager, restart the computer. Ports will still be recognized and ready to use once.

I have the HP Laserjet 4100 printer. I bought a new laptop with USB ports. What type of printer cable I need to connect the printer to my laptop? Is there some kind of printer cable adapter, or something else that will do the trick?
I have the same question about my HP Laserjet 1100 printer.
Thanks in advance for your assistance expected.
If I remember correctly, the 1100 uses a cable "C", alias MicroCentronics. Have never seen an adapter for that one. On the 4100, you can get a USB to parallel adapter. They are pretty cheap and available at most CESS (Consumer Electronics Super Store) as Best Buy. Staples and OfficeMax/Office Depot should also wear. Online is cheaper if you have time to wait.
The thing with these USB converters is often must 'install' the cable first. In other words, connect it to the laptop, then wait so he could install, then connect the printer. Depending on your operating system and if you have correct updates that can be almost instantaneous, and you may not even see it pop on the screen.
Best idea is that since these are obviously not portable machines, connect them to your router via a network card. I had the 1100 years and used a cheap 170 X. I know most recent are available which are faster.
For the 4100, see if you can retrieve a Jet Direct 620 unit on eBay. Probably less than $50 and sometimes even as little as $25. Stay away from the 600, 510 or 615 cards. Low or as the 600, they can leave your network open to hackers. No need to get Gigabit cards as they will be well above what the 4100 can handle.
Now, two of these old devices, processing power and memory can be a problem. Never try to print documents online. Save them on your laptop, and then print. You will probably get communication errors if you print directly from IE or FireFox.
If the 1100 does not die, not even worth fixing. Put into a Fuser is a nightmare. The 4100 will probably work for another 20 years if you keep to clean and replace the rolls before they cause jams.

Original title: problem of USB ports:
I have a computer dell laptop inspiron d1420 provided with Windows vista and I have upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate, I noticed that when I plug in a USB mass storage, when I try to remove it, I don't get the safe delete the message and lately when I try to remove it, I keep getting the message He's busy and I can't remove it. I tried the same USB on another PC and I have no problem at all. I connected a printer, USB cable and wondows llok have not the driver or didn't install the printer, he left as a device not specified with the name of the printer, but I can't print. I tried with another PC that is also running Windows 7 ultimate and I have no problem, windows has installed the driver, because I used the same printer and the same cable. What is the problem with my USB 4 ports and how to fix?
Hello
When you get this message while trying to remove a USB, it's basically a lock for this USB device by some process running on the computer. If we know which process is this locking mechanism, we could also find which Service is associated with this problem in the computer.
To check this, you can use a program called Process Explorer. You can download this program from the following link. Once downloaded, extract the contents of the zip downloaded to a folder on your desktop. Inside this folder, you will see a file by the name of procexp , which is the executable for Process Explorer. The download link is:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653
First, plug the USB to one of the USB ports. Then, once you have the executable to Process Explorer, right-click on it and then click run as administrator. Please allow all guests UAC can occur. Once the Process Explorer is running, please follow these steps to search for processes using the USB at the moment:
1. click on Searchand then click on manage to find them or DLL on the options menu at the top.
2. then in the pop - up which will turn up next, type the drive letter for the USB drive connected to the computer (for example G: or H:) right now and click on Search.
3. he should then display all instances of the process that is using this USB at the moment with the corresponding process ID (PID).
Now, once you have the names of processes using the USB at this time, you can terminate them by clicking on them and then clicking on Manage close. Once this is done, you should be able to eject the USB safely.
I would like to ask the names of processes lock the drive in your computer. This should give us an idea of what we might have to take the next.
In addition, for the other issue that you mentioned, in which the computer does not automatically and correctly detects the printer when it is connected to the computer, I suggest you to check whether or not your computer Plug-and-Play service is set to automatic. Here's how you can do this:
1. press the Windows and the R on your keyboard to get to the top of the run box.
2. type Services.msc in the run box and press enter on the keyboard. Allow all UAC prompts that may coming up next.
3. once it opens the window of the Services for you, scroll down to the Plug-and-Play service and double-click it.
4. in the properties box that will come next, the Startup type should be set to Auto and the Status of the Service must be started. If this isn't the case, please put these values.
5. click on apply then OK, close all windows in the computer and restart the computer once.
Once these steps was performed, please check if the problem remains the same. We know the results.
I hope that these steps raises you in the right direction in order to solve this problem. Don't answer if you still need assistance, we will be happy to be of assistance.

Since I upgraded to El Capitan I have several, serious problems with USB devices:
1 USB hard drive: everything by watching a video from an external hard drive, the hard drive will be to disassemble all the minutes, the video will be of course hang and it takes 45-60 seconds until the drive reconnects. I also can not boot from any external hard drive more. Booting from a USB key works fine.
2. I can't transfer my Sunny BT11 of beam data more. The Sunny Beam is a device that records the data of my photovoltaic plant. The overview of the system he sees when connected via USB, however he is not recognized and so I can't transfer data files. Also, it makes not a difference if it is connected via a USB hub or directly, the two versions do NOT work. In the Finder preferences, all devices are controlled to display on the desktop.
The two scenarios always perfectly work with my Mac mini that has not been updated and uses Mac OS X 10.10.
Hello Gulliver,
It seems that if you live with loss of connection of your USB devices since the installation of Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, is that correct?
I suggest that you are troubleshooting by following the steps in this article - OS X El Capitan: If a USB device does not work
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

But if I connect them through USB hub, that they do not work properly. The sound instantly invites you, but certain peripheral functions partially and some not at all. I tried several USB hubs... same problem for all. Any solution? Thanks a lot for your answer.

Modem/wireless router with USB port
Qwest (my IP) told me that there is nothing like a modem/router with a USB port. Am I crazy or what?
KaribouHello
Welcome to the HP Forum!Karibou wrote:

Qwest is wrong. There are a number of manufacturers that make routers wireless with USB ports. This is a new trend.
D - Link makes this one. Unfortunately, it has been abandoned. Linksys makes this one.
Belkin makes one in this video.

Satellite C850D-115 - problem with USB 3.0 port
Maybe you are my last chance to solve this problem.
I bought a C850D-115 PSC9UE-00N00MGR without BONES. I've installed two times Windows 7 top on two different partitions.
I downloaded and installed all the drivers needed from the Toshiba site and updated on day of Windows 7.My problem is, the driver for USB 3 AMD do not work,
My 3 USB ports do not work and I cannot use it. It will work if I disable the USB 3 and use it as USB 2.Device Manager says driver is not installed, while AMD Catalyst Control Center says driver is installed and running.
Someone knows how to fix this?
