Satellite C650D - how the BIOS boot CD?

Hello

I'm trying to make a disc bootable image to update the BIOS for the model Satellite C650D (PSC16A-02U011).

Can someone point me in the right direction? I found the download area of the driver for this model, but the update to the BIOS it is only an exe file and my laptop has no operating system on it at the moment.

If I try to load the system hard disk and then use the exe it gives me all sorts of problems so I m try to Flash the BIOS from a CD while the hard drive is out.

Then after that I updated the BIOS I have reinstall everything.

Thank you

I m wondering why you n t replace the HDD and install Win 7 first.
Then you could update the BIOS (if necessary)

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

  • Satellite M30: How disable the BIOS boot password?

    Hello

Before my vacation, I activated the startup password in the Bios. Now I want to turn this off, but it does not work. In the Bios, I can go to the Security tab, but I can't change the settings with the F5/F6 key or space. A beep is all I get. Entering on this point, I wonder to set a new password.

Anyone know how to disable the password for a Satellite M30? Please note that I have not forgotten my password, I can always start the machine.

    THX,

    Werner.

PS On this forum, I don't see any topic title, only the name of the authors. Is always normal? It is very convenient that way, but maybe it is related to my pc.

    Hello

I found a step by step explanation to clear a BIOS password:

"Turning on the computer from a State"off"with the ESC key. You are asked "password =". "

Enter the password, and then press ENTER. The unit will display: "the valid password is entered, the system starts up. Check the system. Press key (F1). »

Press the F1 key. This will start the device in the BIOS Setup mode.

Using the arrow keys or tab, move to the password field and select REGISTERED.

Press the SPACE bar, enter the password, and then press ENTER. For now, the password field is transformed into NON REGISTERED. »

    Hope this will help you.
    Good bye

  • Satellite A350D-113 - how the BIOS recovery after faulty update?

    Hi guys!

Yesterday I stumbled accidentally updating BIOS for my satellite A350D-113 and computer interference in the process. Now, I've got is this common black screen, fan turns and CD-rom checked.
I know there are discussions on this issue, but all of these senses are very different. Can someone help me with step by step "what to do"?
I did not usb floppy, but I suppose a common CD - R should be fine replacement.

    I'm desperate rly.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

If the BIOS update failed, you can do anything. You need professional help of an authorized service provider. Technicians can try to reflash the ROM module

  • Satellite L500/013 - how the dual boot of Windows 7 and XP?

    Hello

I just bougth my first laptop from Toshiba, it comes with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed. Before you start to spend hours on it, I wonder if this can be done:

    (1) I would like to use the Windows 7 Professional 64-bit mode, then

    (2) create the second partition on the hard disk to install Windows XP 32 bit on it.

I was wondering if this is possible and what is the recommended installation sequence. First thing I need to do is to create the recovery for Windows 7 disk, so I guess I have to configure Windows 7 first of all?

    Thanks for any help
    Thomas

    > The first thing I need to do is to create the recovery for Windows 7 disk, so I guess I have to configure Windows 7 first of all?
Well, it is highly recommended! Before you do anything with your HARD drive, you must create the recovery disk!

I m not very well how you can set up a dual boot with Win 7 because I didn't try this, but I did using Vista.
First you must create a second partition in Vista. This could be done in disk management.
Then I installed Win XP on the second partition. But after installing XP I could not launch Vista because Vista boot manager was damaged by Win XP.
To resolve this problem, I used an original disc of Vista (not recovery disc). I started the Vista DVD and it has repaired the Vista Boot Manager. In Vista, I installed EasyBCD.
EsayBCD is a small tool that allows to add Win XP to the Vista Boot Manager s.
After the new Vista and Win XP reboot is appeared in the Boot Manager and I could choose between the two BONES.

I think that you need the same procedure using Win 7

  • Satellite C650D: How can I create partitions?

    Hellooo

    can someone help me?
I have laptop Toshiba Satellite C650D when I bought it, there is only one partition of hard disk, I want another 2 or 3 partitions it how can I do it?

    Hello

You can create partitions in Win 7 disk management.

Firstly, it must reduce the old partition. You will then get a free space on the HARD drive where the new partitions may be created.
The entire procedure is very delicate. Further details on the Microsoft Win 7 page:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-FR/Windows-Vista/create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition

I hope this helps a little.

But before you change this, I recommend creating a recovery disk!

  • Satellite 210CS: How can I boot from CD?

    Hello

I found my old Satellite 210CS and I want to install Linux on it, but I can not find the floppy drive, I just got the drive of CD-ROM. I changed the boot options in the bios to FDD > HDD but its not not booting from the cd. Y at - it an update of the Bios to boot from CD?

    Hello

He is a former. About 10 years ago.
AFAIK this laptop has an own FDD (floppy) drive and the CD drive is swappable. (You can use both, but not together)
I found information that the BIOS supports that one disc at the time and the CD-ROM drive is not bootable.
If you change the settings in the BIOS for HARD drive FDD so first Notepad starts from the floppy drive, and then from drive hard, but not on the CD!

However, the Toshiba doesn't support Linux and you get not all Toshiba for Linux drivers.
    But haven't found this page:

The BIOS assigns COM1 and COM2 serial port to the built-in modem. However there is not a single option for the IRDA port not found.

How can I make the IRDA port works under DOS?

In my opinion it of not possible to use the IrDA DOS, because drivers must be installed and initialized.
The IrDA port driver is a common Windows driver and the irda connection works only when windows was loaded

  • Satellite A110 - update the BIOS for Windows 7?

Hello. I found two drivers support page to your versions of BIOS for my Toshiba Satellite A110:
    01/21/09
    Update the BIOS
Toshiba Windows Vista 32 bit 5, 40 - WIN World Wide
    01/21/09
    Update the BIOS
Toshiba OS independent 2, 00 - WIN World Wide

In 'other info' page on first bios there is a warning that this version is only for windows vista, and on the second page 'other info' he warns, that this version is not compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista.
My first question is what this means? If I have OS Toshiba idependent 2.0 BIOS will not install Vista?

My second and more important question is what version of bios should I install if I now use WINDOWS 7 32 bit?

    Hello

    > My first question is what this means? If I have OS Toshiba idependent 2.0 BIOS will not install Vista?
You should be able to install Vista using BISO 2.0 but maybe your laptop will generate some questions
So you need to update the BIOS to 5, 40 - WIN version if you want to use Vista OS.

If you want to use Win 7 on your laptop then you must first install the Win 7 OS and then you should check out how Windows 7 is running

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L850 - opens the BIOS on reboot, even if no one press F2

My laptop opens if restarted BIOS through Windows, even if no one supports on F2, but this only happens when I stop. I recently updated to the latest version of Windows updates. Funny, it's guaranteed expired 2 days ago. I had to manually, press the power button just started my unit.

The unit is a model of Satellite L850-B150.

    > My laptop opens if restarted BIOS through Windows, even if no one press F2, but this does not occur when I shutdown

    I understand this correctly?
The laptop and the system works properly. If you click on restart the device stops, then boots to the top and switches in the BIOS.
    Is this correct?

    Hmm its really strange.

To be honest, I don't think that its a software issue related because no application is able to access the BIOS directly after the POST (power selft test) has been produced.
This is why I think it could be a motherboard problem material? Keyboard? I m not quite sure

However, go to BIOS (F2) manually and set it to default settings (F9). Save the changes and restart the device.
Check if the device would still access the BIOS automatically.

In which case the matter would be always available, recover laptop using Toshiba recovery media.
This would create the laptop back to factory settings.

Finally if this is insufficient, the device must be checked by professional service guys.
