Do you mean the SATA connector on the motherboard? Is it broken?
Well, I'm don't think that its easy to fix. If something is broken on the motherboard, and then for the most part you will need a new motherboard or you would ask a specialist (electronics) for help.

Try to clean the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air. Especially the laptop If OFF automatically due to a higher temperature and cleaning cooling fans can help get the best cooling performance.

  • Satellite A300 - install the secondary hard drive

    Hi all

    I'm new to the forum.

I was thinking about adding a second hard drive of my laptop.
I saw that there is a single disc and a space for a second

Is this possible? If so, what drive would be worth?

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion this is not possible.
To me, it seems that there is no second connector and to the 2nd HARD drive controller.
There is a second HARD-drive bay because there are different models A300 with a different hardware configuration and motherboards, but the same top and bottom covers, so there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay even if the connectors are not available.

  • Recovery CD don't reinstall it Satellite M300 correctly after formatting HARD drive

    Hi all

After having my original problem to create rescue disks resolved with your help (thanks again), I'm at the formatting of hard drives of 300. After that, I want to do a fresh install of Ubuntu.
But I must admit I'm rather nervous about all this.

    So 2 questions:

1 has anyone done this before and how it worked?
    2. I would be able to get the M300 back to the form using the reinstallation discs, AFTER formatting the HARD drive

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Usually the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD should reinstall everything again. Simply said, it must affect the M300 return to the factory settings.
The use of the recovery DVDs is very simple.

You must boot from the recovery DVD and must follow the instructions on the screen!
But note; The recovery DVDs will format the entire HARD drive... as the partitions created, etc...

    That s it.

  • My Satellite cannot recognize the new HARD drive

I bought a new hard drive for my laptop. After installing it, I didn't get the message none found a fixed drive. I updated the bios from the Toshiba site and the same message is still there.

I also tried the drive in another laptop. It has been recognized correctly, so I formatted one installed Windows XP Pro top. It worked ok so I tried again in my laptop but message saying put system disk and press any key. So I put XP disc in it starts the installation starts to transfer files and doesn't give the message no hard drive found so it still does not find the hard drive.

    Please can someone help?

    Ken

    Hi Ken

It would be nice to know the name of cell exactly.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive due to the size of the HARD drive.

It would be very interesting to know if the HARD disk is compatible with this laptop and supported

  • Satellite L450 - install the new hard drive

Hi, I hope someone can help, I have a Satellite L450, which has windows 7 preloaded on it. However, the hard drive became corrupt and unable to use, unfortunately I never backed up anything.
Can I buy a new hard drive and install it? If yes how to operate as I no o/s on cd?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi 4ordie,

Of course, you can replace the HARD drive that s no problem. Replace HARD drive has 5 or 10 minutes and you can do it yourself because it s not very complicated.

New drive HARD doesn t contain all the files and you will need to install the operating system and all the drivers yourself but I m wondering why you don t have an installation disc (recovery). It s clearliy mentioned in the manual how to do this.

In any case, no, you can order a Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings:

  • Satellite Pro P70 - Has: 2nd invisible HARD drive - how to initialize the 2nd HARD drive

    I have a P70 - A. Satellite Pro
'Primary' hard disk failed, and has been replaced by the service centre.

Now, only the main hard drive is shown and the Service Center said that I had to 'initialize' the second hard drive to make it visible. They assure me that the hard drive is there, just hidden.

    How can I make visible?
    How do I initialize it?

Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.

In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).

  • Need help to install the new hard drive in Satellite Pro M10

    Hi all

My hard drive died in my M10 Pro Satellite so I decided to adapt to another.
It fits very well in the caddy, but just does not want to slot into place correctly as something seems to be stopped.
    The M10 only accepts a certain brand/model?
Also, nobody knows this as the largest capacity M10 will accept?
    Thank you very much.

    Concerning
    J

As much as I know should not be problem at all. Take the old and the new HARD drive and compare the connectors. I hope that they are the same. I can only imagine that the new HD is not placed correctly in the HARD drive bracket. Make sure that the new is placed as an old man after his retirement from the laptop.

As for max capacity of HARD drive, there is no precise information and we can only speculate on this. Try to use the search option on this forum. Maybe someone already talked to upgrade the HDD on Sam/Satellite Pro M10.

The fact is that Satellite Pro comes with 30, 40 and 60 GB hard drives. How many GB does your new HARD drive?

  • Satellite 1800-712 does not start with the new HARD drive

    Hello world.

I am currently trying to install a new HARD drive in my notebook of 1800-712.
I'm having a few trubbles as my Satellite won't start with my new HARD drive.

I upgraded my BIOS to the latest version.
The new HARD drive is a 40 GB Samsung.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to make it all works?

    You again is 40 GB.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive because of the size.

BTW why they made it so difficult to get just to the battery in this model?

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.
    Be careful about this.

  • Satellite C650 - reinstall with the new hard drive

    Hello

The hard drive in my C650 just died so I put in a replacement, and the problem I have is that I never create a recovery disc for my laptop.

I tried to use the windows disk 7 I got with my desktop, but when I boot it I get the error ' A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you have a flash driver diskette drive, CD, DVD or USB, please insert now. ".

So, I downloaded the driver for chipset support page and excerpts to a flash drive. The installation detects these drivers "ICH9" on my USB, but after loading them, I always get an error ' no new deices could be found. Make sure that the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media. ».

I checked the bios and the new hard drive is detected without a doubt.
Is there anything else I can do, short of ordering toshiba recovery disks?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    The message
    > ' Required the reader driver CD/DVD is missing. If you have a flash driver diskette drive, CD, DVD or USB, please insert now. ".
say that your CD/DVD drive is not detected.
So you need to check if the BIOS so the CD/DVD drive is listed. It should appear on the first page of the BIOS.

If you want to boot from the disk and then switch on and you press F12.
Usually, a menu should appear that allows you to choose the ODD (CD/DVD)
Choose this option and try to boot from the CD.

  • Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.

The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.

I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.

Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.

Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?

    Thank you very much

Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?

I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.

Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.

  • My Satellite phone does not recognize the external hard drive

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I connected an external hard drive (brand is seagate) that still works on my previous laptop (Dell), but the system does not overlay the external hard drive. It does not recognize there is an 'external Hard Drive FreeAgent' but when the AutoPlay window appears & I choose "Open folder to view files" it gives me the following message is displayed:

    "G / is not accessible.
    Access is denied. "

I called the manufacturer of the external hard drive (Seagate) & they told me that it is a windows problem.

can someone help me? ... Thank you

  • Satellite C660-28 d - problem "Load driver" with the new HARD drive

    I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-28 t.

The hard drive has failed. I called Toshiba Support who send me a replacement.

However in the meantime I was going to put in my spare hard drive and do a fresh install of another operating system that I have a spare for (Win 7) key.

However, I can't past the screen "Loading Drivers" as the laptop came with driver disks.
I can't find the drivers on the Toshiba site (I tried some drivers intel which I thought were good, but he says they were not signed and all comes down to the loading screen drivers).

I have made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.

Any ideas on where I can get the proper drivers from?

    Thank you

    > I made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.

If you have a recovery disk using Toshiba preinstalled recovery media creator tool, you just have to boot from that disk to begin the installation.
