Satellite C655 - new keyboard is not working properly
I have fairly new Toshiba Satellite C655 and after spilling a (tiny) amount of soda on the upper left keyboard, the keyboard stop working completely.
After you install a new keyboard, most of the keys work except the P, V, R, T, [and space keys. External USB keyboard works perfectly. I bought another new keyboard and replaced it with care, but the problem persists. After that, I tried updating the BIOS without result.
Anyone who is familiar with this and knows how to solve the problem?
I assume that this question was not included in the past, before the drink is spilled on the keyboard. Right?
This means that this fluid is the reason for the keyboard problem.
I guess, both new keyboards are OK.
In this case, the problem may be the motherboard or you used two keypads which are not entirely compatible. But I guess that this isn't really a problem.
Maybe you card mother is affected. :(mais c'est juste une suggestion)
My satellite pro C850 1HE keyboard intermittently stops working correctly, and begins to open programs, for example, by pressing F will open the file search, C open computer this kind of thing
is there a permanent solution to this problem?
This is not something to do with installed programs is not something to do with the browser settings.
restarting the computer works in a short time, but that is a long time, it's really annoying because I use this for work and study!
> is there a permanent solution to this problem?
The question is what causes this problem? Is it related hardware or software related issue?
Why n t connect a USB keyboard just to check if the same would happen?
In case the USB keyboard would work fine, I guess that the internal keyboard failures and the solution would be a simple replacement of the defective part.
My 6100 Pro Sam just being away from usual mother board and power Board replacement with Toshiba, but now I have a strange keyboard problem.
When I turn it on, all the keys are working. After a few minutes, '3' is not working, then 'r' fails, then '5', ' 7 ', ' 8',' 9 ', ' 0' to stop working. At this point, I can feel something very hot under the middle of the keyboard. A reboot and no keys work. Another reboot with the internal keyboard and an external keyboard to the PS2 is still defective (some keys work, others do not), but the outer one works properly.
Now, if the pc has not obtained if hot as the middle of the internal keyboard, then, I would conclude that the keyboard was defective, but for his failure, slowly and sequentially like this and it fails at the same way every day (since Toshiba rebuild it!).
Perhaps, internal keyboard controller overheating?
Anyone know what this could be? :-(
See you soon,.
Right under the keyboard of your pro 6100 is the VGA graphics controller (the keyboard cable plugs on the same map). It is normal that this part become hot during use.
It is strange that your problem appears after a while and not immediately.
It could be just a bad relocation of the keyboard cable (it's a thin layer as a movie negative photo) which easily appears there, but... it may be something more serious, too. (Especially since you had done upgrade where the material had to be changed)
I consult the service centre once more and ask for instructions how to deal with this. Do not ignore it (using an external keyboard instead of internal dysfunction) because he could end up in something more serious soon...
P.S. Please keep us updated on your efforts
I have Satellite L40 - 1BZ and only vowels will work when you try to open a session?
I turn the laptop on and I tried to enter the password (using Vista home Premium) and it will just hit me the vowels and Caps lock?
Help someone mention I could download the BIOS but I put t really know what I m doing.
I imagine you have this L40 longer and it will be interesting to know since when you noticed this behavior strange keyboard.
My Satellite L30-114 lost there head yesterday, he started typing 4 instead of the letter U, 5 instead of I have letter suddenly. I checked his English language page layout. No viruses were detected in my PC.
How can I fix this weird problem - I can't type anything!
Just, without panic. There is no problem at all. Of course, you have accidentally enabled symbols that appear as small gray symbols to the part of the keyboard. If you look closely, you'll see paved digital buttons as U-4, I-5 and O-6. You can enable/disable this by using the FN + F11 key combination.
I'm not able to use my arrow, also when I press SHIFT: I get a capital H and N: HN
Very annoying, someone who might be able to help me.
Before you use this option, you must activate it with FN + F10 or F11. I put t remember which of these two key combinations is good. Please test.
Generally, you will find instructions on this subject in s operating manuals.
I recently bought a series of A210 with integrated cam and I have problems with the keyboard as when I start typing that he starts to jump all in different areas of the document or sentence is anyway to remedy, it is running windows vista and office 2007
This problem appears immediately after the purchase of the machine? Maybe it s a good idea to recover the machine, he might be a software problem.
On the other side it sounds a bit like a hardware related problem then if recovery doesn´t has you joy then you should contact a local service partner assistance.
Here you can find near the ASP in your country (just click on the link and you will find a few):
Have a nice weekend
See you soon
I had trouble getting my laptop satellite to initialize. Recovery disks & pressing F keys weren't working so I decided to open the laptop to see if there are any loose connections. To my surprise, the laptop seems to work again once I had the USB keys and put back them in! Unfortunately, before that I did, I opened the keyboard and peeked inside.
When I booted up and tried to use the keyboard keys half of their work and the other half seem to think that they represent two other keys for example if I type the letter 'E' I get '3' and '-' as a whole. After 5-10 minutes the entire keyboard will become totally unresponsive until I restart again. Of course, I think I've done something here because this problem since I opened the bottom of the keyboard. This could be a hardware failure I have caused or is anyway that this issue can be resolved without replacing anything?
Thank you very much
Theoretically, it might be just a connection lost between the keyboard and the motherboard, but I'm afraid, it can be a serious problem of m.
Maybe you have damaged the connector of the keyboard cable or something similar, and not the keyboard does not work properly.
I think the keyboard needs to be replaced to check if only this part is affected
My laptop HP keyboard does not work properly. First of all, it makes a clicking dull when I type, second if I type (anywhere) it wont let me repeat a letter or any key back to back with waiting 2 + seconds. It comes with the connected keyboard or a usb keyboard. How can I stop this?
In the Panel-> Accessibility-> make your computer easier to use-> make the keyboard easier to use, check your filter keys, if it is on, turn it off.
Yesterday I turned my laptop on to find I couldn't hit my password as some of the keys on the keyboard are not working. It's only a few keys, I noticed at the moment F L O R V, NumLock, enter, delete, and the arrow keys do not work either. When I press some keys turns num lock.
Also when I open upward keys to self-retaining now is turned on, so I can't type anything, he used to come just I had turned off the laptop, but now it turns on if I just too closed.
Any ideas? Ill use the keyboard of the screen now!
Sounds like a malfunction of the keyboard.
Try to connect an external USB keyboard and check if it will work properly.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard needs to be replaced for sure.
I have a Toshiba L500-13w (PSLJ3E-00X01G03) of the problems with the keyboard. The keyboard does not work. Already tested under windows, or to access the bios.
I bought a new keyboard and changed. It does not work. Any way to solve this problem?
What happened with the laptop?
You spill some kind of liquid on the keyboard maybe?
The keyboard is connected to the motherboard with a flat cable
If the keyboard on the motherboard controller was not damaged, then new keyboard should work
I have a Satellite Pro M10 and my infrared does not work. I downloaded the zip file with the drivers from this site. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled, but it always happens in the Device Manager under "unknown - SMC IrCC - Fast Port infrared (IR Module: HP). (with an exclamation point). When I look at the properties it says under device status:
This device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
However, under Driver Details is said:
I extracted the zip file in my home directory of c:\downloads\infrared.
whatever I do, it does not now. It worked when I bought it, but I have too many things on the system for a new installation. Which brings me to another question. Is it possible to re - install windows without losing all your data, etc.? I did it with other systems (95,98) Windows. But it seems that the Toshiba recovery disc means any wiping.
Thanks in advance for any help.
If your HARD disk contains two partitions and you have saved the data on a second you can reinstall the operating system on the first partition using recovery DVDs.
Last week, I bought my Toshiba Satellite Pro L300.
I have had no operating system with the laptop, but I had my own XP, so I changed the SATA drives in compatibility mode and installed windows XP Pro.
(By the way this is a Vista laptop officially)
I installed all the drivers, but I have a problem with the sound. It has a bad quality, but this isn't the biggest problem.
If I start listening to music, the sound stops every 3-4 seconds for a fraction of a second. It's as if the processor worked (like the computer was loading, and the processor is a bit overloaded) I usually have this experience if I run many programs simultaneously on my old computer, it slows down and the music stops for a second. But on the new laptop, I run winamp, I have dp nothing but listen to the music, and I get this problem.
Can anyone help? Is it because of XP? Or the driver does not work properly? Or I have a big problem and should go back to the store?
Did you notice HARD drive activity when this happens?
Maybe some anti-virus works in the background.
Maybe you can order original Toshiba recovery DVD for your laptop model. Check it out under the https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
Using WXP only? I ask this question because I believe that you can only get to this Vista laptop.
I have a Toshiba Satellite 3000 100 laptop. It worked without any problem. But suddenly the keyboard did not work! The other keys work always. What can I do?
Thank you, homer108 (from Germany)
For me, it looks like a keyboard failure.
In this case, you need to replace the old keyboard with a new one.
The replacement is not very difficult. The keyboard is connected to the motherboard with the flat cable. To disconnect the cable from the motherboard, you'll have to open two small latches on the sides of s of connector and cable.
However, first you must order an ASP compatible keyboard which is responsible for your country. And if you have no experience with the replacement procedures, I recommend the portable computer technician, asking for help.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M40X-189.
The problem is that the keyboard does not work, and it beeps long consistent. I have to press the keyboard for him to stop, when I get loaded in Windows, the touchpad is ok but I can't type anything with the keyboard. I checked the connection on the keyboard and it went ok.
Is it possible that the computer tells me that the keyboard is down and replacing it will fix both problems?
I don't want to spend money on a new keyboard for the same thing happen after installation.
Anyone who can help me with this problem?
Thanks again for any help provided.
In my opinion it looks like a defective keyboard, and I think that a new keyboard to solve this problem.
External keyboard works on your laptop?
So in your case I would swap the keyboard.
In addition, you can contact the nearest ASP and ask for help. Technicians can swap the keyboard for you and order a new one.
