Satellite C660 - 1 7: BIOS upgrade question

Good day, fellow owners of Toshiba laptop.

I have a little trouble updating my BIOS to a version more 'recent' (based on Tempro).
I just installed the application Tempro, and it detected that my BIOS needs an upgrade, so naturally I downloaded the 'new' BIOS. Everything went well, but when I tried to install it, a message appeared in the window of installation:

' * The program will be closed! * There is an error occurred, please check the items below. The version of the BIOS above 190. Battery capacity more than 10%. AC is attached.

No matter what I do, I get the same error over and over again. I looked the problem before I posted this thread and other people met there, but, unlike my case, advice like 'Close all background applications', "Battery Charge", or "Make sure that the AC is attached" really helped.

I tried to close all my battery is always charged, as I rarely have to unplug the power adapter, and, of course, the problem of connection AC is not the cause because almost always plugged.

I checked my BIOS version to + + msinfo32.exe and is 1.90 already, but I remember the upgrade this month (earlier) there, and if, in theory, I already have the latest version installed, why don't Tempro recognizes it and keeps alert me on a nonexistent problem?

There may be something wrong with Tempro, but I just need to be sure before moving on to a possible upgrade.

Can someone help me please?
I thank in advance and have a nice day!

Hello

TEMPRO inform you on the new downloaded drivers or BIOS
The European driver Toshiba page provides all the drivers and BIOS files and the latest BIOS version 1.90 - winner was transferred to 04.06.2012 and so you have received this notification by the Tempro software.

Who knows why they have downloaded this file once more... but the fact is that your BIOS is up to date and so you can not update the BIOS once more to the same version.

    Hey,.

Why do you update the BIOS? You have problems with your new laptop C660?
I mean the BIOS update is always a bit risky, so I just wanted to update so it s really necessary, otherwise the BIOS update is not important and you can forget it.

Just have fun with your new laptop computer and enjoy! :)

Thank you and I hope you can help me...

    Hello

The version of the BIOS should be mentioned in the BIOS settings.
Turn on the device, press F2 and verify the version here.

Also I recommend the settings of the BIOS back to default settings.
In the BIOS settings, you will need to press F9 to get the default value. Then save the changes and exit the BIOS.
Restart the machine and check how many processes are running in the context of the BONE.

I recommend disabling of certain non-essential processes in msconfig.
There, you can go to the Startup tab and could uncheck the unnecessary process.

To be honest, your post is a little confusing.
The laptop seems to support the Intel HM55 HD graphics chip and a part of the main memory would be shared by the graphics chip too.

  • Satellite C660 - AC adapter / CC load questions

    Hello

Had some problems with my Satellite C660 charger. Seems to load to the top of the laptop and then decides that he is no longer connected to the electric network although it is plugged. When you pass this by continually.

Is there a way to fix this or is the charger faulty or is it supposed to do this? My apologies if this isn't in the right section / a stupid problem.

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

And what happens if you start your laptop with power adapter only? The laptop works properly without battery?

At the moment it is not easy to say what it is because it might be all: battery, AC adapter, BIOS, dysfunction of the motherboard, etc.

It would be good to know if everything works with AC adapter only. Also, check the Toshiba website if you can find a BIOS update for your model of C660 and update.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Don t forget to start the update as an administrator only and disable the Antivirus software.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - after cooler BIOS update speed is increased and troubling

    Good evening
Five hours ago, I did update the BIOS and restart the computer after that I noticed that the speed of the cooler is increased and worrying. Mention that they bought a Toshiba Satellite C660 last month.
Please, if you can help me how to set the correct rotation!

    Thank you!

PS: Sorry for my English I'm not from England!

I think several people have posted about it here on this forum so it's a shame you don't l l check this forum before you took the decision to put the BIOS updated. If you have some time check other assignments in category C satellite.

In any case, I can say, it's that you can try to reduce the speed of the cooling fan with cooling method option in the advanced power settings.

This should reduce the speed of the cooling fan and your laptop will work a lot quieter. Put simply to option in battery mode.

  • Satellite C660 - missing utility, BIOS not in default

Bought a Satellite C660-22v on ebay that seems to work fine, except that none of the Tosh utilities are present.

I was going to reload the operating system and downloaded the manual that say I have set the default BIOS. The former owner put the password on it and told me that it is. Is that what I want to know, can I do the restore of the system without resetting the BIOS, or how to get the utilities of Tosh?

To be honest I don t understand what do you mean with these missing utilities. Is this laptop comes with preinstalled original Win7 home premium. If you have the recovery disc reinstall OS and start using the laptop with the settings that includes all Toshiba tools and utilities. If you want to install some of them more you can download them from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

In General, you can do the system restore without changing the BIOS settings, but now when you want to use the laptop the other person I think the best is to remove the BIOS password, BIOS value by default, reinstall OS and start using the laptop with the factory settings. Later, you can configure for laptop and change the settings.

  • Satellite C660 - problem with the upgrade from 4 GB to 8 GB

    Hello

    I have a Satellite C660-124 64-bit with Windows 7.

I tried to extend the RAM of 4 GB (2x2gb) up to 8 GB (4x2Go), but the laptop is stuck on the 'Starting Windows' screen (I've already updated the BIOS and also if I tried with a new installation, the problem is the same).

    Aries is Kingston 4 GB PC3L - 12800 CL11 204 pins SODIMM
    Link: [http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KVR16LS11_4.pdf]

    Please
    Thank you to

Well well, its certainly possible to increase the RAM up to 8 GB of RAM.
Your case looks like a new RAM isn t entirely compatible or the module could be defective.

Toshiba says that the DDR3 RAM (1 066 MHz) 4 GB RAM PA3677U-1M4G module should be fully compatible.

The module PA3677U-1M4G should be the same as the module of Kingston KTT1066D3 / 4G
    You certainly need a module SODIMM DDR3 1066 Mhz PC3 - 8500 204 pins.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 BIOS upgrade question

    Hello

I have a toshiba satellite pro 6100 and currently it has 1.60 bios version and saw that the last update of the bios is the 1.90. My question is: is it question where I get the update of the bios of wheather it is from the site of toshiba UK or the United States, is the same bios update, or are they different? The other question is what I have to do the previous bios updates first 1.60 1.70 1.80 and finally to 1.90, or can I just do the 1.90 and who will have the previous updates in that one later?

    Hi Christian,

I normally prefer to get the update of the BIOS in the same country as I bought the laptop. However, given that the laptop was probably manufactured around the world, I don't think it bothers us really until the update is marked as compatible with your model of laptop. In principle, the update of the BIOS for the components of the laptop and is therefore more linked to the actual model in his country of origin.

It is not normally necessary load the intermediate versions of BIOS as BIOS is usually not cumulative but is provided as a complete package and includes all the code required.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro A100-830 - HDD upgrade questions

I'm a complete noob so please forgive my silly question!

I would like to replace my laptop HARD drive, is there any combatibilty issues I should be aware of, or is it just a case of getting a HARD drive 2.5 "?

Is it easy to buy an external and use the internal drive inside the case?

This seems to be the best way to the value of doing. Specific recommendations?
    Thank you!

    Hi magicmat,

Generally upgrade the HARD drive is not complicated, and that's why you only have to remove the cover of the HARD drive on the lower side of your laptop to replace the HARD drive.

Satellite Pro A100 already use hard disks with SATA interface so you have such a HARD drive. In addition, I would recommend a 5400 RPM model because it s quite fast and doesn t a lot of power.

So that s what you need to know about upgrading. Theoretically, you can use the old or an external HDD with an external HARD drive enclosure. Also no problem. :)

  • Satellite C660 - 2JN PSC1ME BIOS update of confusion

    Hey,.

So I'm overhauling a C660-2JN, room PSC1ME-01L00KEN, and after you install a clean Windows I got the latest drivers for everything and went to check out the updates to the BIOS.

    If you visit the page of the 2JN and pass to the driver section there is a list of BIOS: [v1.50-WIN | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=UK&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 3 & selSeries = 313 & selProduct = 6019 selSh 3010 = ortMod & language = 13 & selOS = null & selType = null & ye arupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 8 & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = null & page = 1 & ID = 80880 & O SID =-1 & driverLanguage = 42].
It's the BIOS that is already installed.

Now, the confusing bit is if I try to find updates via the [page 'Update your BIOS' | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_bios.jsp?service=UK&banner_id=BIOS_DOWNLO AD_BANNER] display two new results for the C660 - 1, 70 and 2.00.

I say "for the C660" because the part number of this machine does not exist in the drop-down list below, so I'm not sure how wide of a search, I really do.

I extracted all three packages and they use all the different flashing and Roma of different sizes, so I think that the most recent are for different machines spec'd, but it would be nice to know (and, well, maybe the list part numbers compatible for stuff like the BIOS that can brick your machine? I mean, all three have same identical single generic descriptions.)

Incidentally, on this machine product page header says it is discontinued, yet it [does not appear in your list of discontinued products | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/discontinued_models.jsp?service=UK].

Thanks to all who answered my question.

    Beautiful ;)

  • Satellite L500D - SSD and RAM upgrade question

    Hello

Who are you? Ttime for some great upgades for this laptop and some few questions and I'll be happy to answer for me.

    1. is there an empty space to install a second hard drive SSD?

    2. If there is not can put off the hard drive DVD and in the empty space to fit an SSD? I need something like that? ---> fb4d http://cgi.ebay.com/CF-Card-2-5-Serial-ATA-SATA-SSD-HDD-UDMA-Adapter-/190537923405?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5cf1
    This is an adapter.

    3. the quantity of RAM max supported Satellite L500D? I installed 2GB and I have an extra plug and I want to install a single 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM total

Its sounds good to you this idea? I thank you and have a nice day

    Hey,.

As you can see on the underside of the laptop doesn t supports a second HDD because there is no second Bay HARD drive on the underside.
The map you posted is unofficial so no one can say whether it compatible s part or not. For laptops Satellite AFAIK there is no CD/DVD Bay adapter, but you can ask a provider of service authorized for more details.

The maximum RAM capacity depends on your phone model correct. L500D was delivered with different hardware, so you must post your exact model laptop number.
