Satellite C660-1TT - BIOS problems

Hi all...

I sat and would update the bios for my Toshiba Satellite C660-1TT (PSC1QE-01D006N5)

Sloopy as I was, I left the computer to get a coffee, * obviously one of my children was there * and press a few buttons. This resulted in the computer 'frozen' after a while I was forced to turn off.

Now change back the time and date each time I start the computer, and I can´t get the wifi to work.
I tried to reinstall the bios again but then get the message that I already have the same or more recent bios and installation is complete.

Someone who can tell if I wrong somehow the computer into thinking it is a newer version or the mabye bring in the former and then update?

Grateful for any help! Robert

(excuse my bad English)

Hello

To my knowledge it is not possible to downgrade the BIOS in windows mode, because you will always have a notification, this new version is already installed.
To my knowledge the ASP technician Toshiba may downgrade the BIOS but only using the traditional version of BIOS (BACK).

But I recommend to test this workaround solution.
Shut down the laptop. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Now let the laptop disconnected for a longer period of time, I think about 3-4 hours
Then plug the battery adapter and ac and access the BIOS by pressing F2 to turn on/off the unit.
Here, you must set the default BIOS (F9) and save the changes.
Now, start Notepad and check how it would work.

Usually, the date and time resets because the CMOS battery is empty. But I can't imagine that this could be a problem here, however, you can reload the CMOS battery running the laptop on area for 18 to 20 hours. During this time the laptop must be ONE.

  • Satellite C660-13R - BIOS update problem

    Hi all

I was updating the BIOS on TOSHIBA SATELLITE C660-13R of 64-bit windows 7. Downloaded driver toshiba web. To halfway the portable installation hangs. I left it for 40 minutes to run, but he did not return to the normal state. As the motherboard fan began to move at high speed, I decided to take out the battery. Result when I power my laptop back I 1 beep from the motherboard and a black screen.

    Can someone help me please?

Of course, the BIOS update procedure has not. Something was wrong during the update process and it seems that the EMRPOM module was not properly flashed.
This is the reason why the laptop is no longer.

    Possible solution?
Well, if EMPROM isn t damage, it should be possible to re-flashing the BIOS module once more, using special version of BIOS and crisis disk BIOS.
Usually the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country should be able to re-flash of the module using this disc of crisis.

I also read in this forum that some people managed to re-flash EPROM module using some 3rd party crisis disk found somewhere in the internet but it still does not
The ASP will therefore probably be your last resort

However, to use the forums advanced search option to find related discussions on the crisis disk BIOS could be interesting for you

I'm afraid that the BIOS is screwed now. I don't know what BIOS and how you installed, but something is wrong.

I don't know what you can do now, but check this thread - please https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread.php?54395

  • Satellite C660-28 d - problem "Load driver" with the new HARD drive

    I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-28 t.

The hard drive has failed. I called Toshiba Support who send me a replacement.

However in the meantime I was going to put in my spare hard drive and do a fresh install of another operating system that I have a spare for (Win 7) key.

However, I can't past the screen "Loading Drivers" as the laptop came with driver disks.
I can't find the drivers on the Toshiba site (I tried some drivers intel which I thought were good, but he says they were not signed and all comes down to the loading screen drivers).

I have made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.

Any ideas on where I can get the proper drivers from?

    Thank you

    > I made the recovery discs, but obviously can not use them on the new hard drive as it doesn't have the recovery partition.

If you have a recovery disk using Toshiba preinstalled recovery media creator tool, you just have to boot from that disk to begin the installation.

More info: all the recovery disk for Toshiba Europe, models of laptops can be ordered here:

  • Satellite C660 - Corrupt BIOS

I tried to update the BIOS of 1,00 to 1,20 yesterday through WinPhlash64, and it froze at halfway through the writing process.

Online, I read that there is a crisis recovery mode and a utility program from Phoenix who can help to reflash the BIOS... but for different satellite models (e.g., A350). I found the guide [here | http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/469337-toshiba-satellite-a350-bios-recovery-phoenix.html].

Anyone know if it will work and * why * Toshiba do not welcome the original BIOS 1.00 version on the product page for this particular model?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hello

I can t tell a lot about the crisis for the BIOS recovery tool because whenever I did a BIOS update it worked properly, so I've never had a problem.

What I can say is be careful with these tools: you could destroy the whole ROM module and I believe that nobody has tested this tool on of Toshiba C660.

This BIOS recovery can be a service allowed because they have special tools to Toshiba, so I think in your case, I would like to get in touch with the guy to clarify the problem and they can help you get rid of it.

    Good luck! :)

  • Click satellite 10 - upgrding BIOS problem

    Hi all!
I have a new toshiba satellite click on 10, but when I try to update the BIOS to 1.6 it pops up an error that says "update bios image is not valid in the current bios or flash secure does not support flash secure." What it means? How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks for your help!

The latest version of BIOS is 5.20. You can get it on the Toshiba site:
    http://www.Toshiba.co.UK/support/BIOS/

I'm not here on this particular error, just try to install the latest version of the BIOS and make sure you select the correct phone model when downloading (I made this mistake before!).

  • Satellite C660 26 x - problem screen (gamma)

    Hello

I have a problem with my Toshiba C660 26 X display. Since the first time I used it, the gamma seems to be high.

This isn't a matter of brightness or contrast. The screen is just "too bright" and I lose a lot of contrast in bright colors.

I tried to use the tool "calibrate the colors" of Windows 7, but even if I chose to lowest level of gamma, the screen stay too bright.

The only way I found to solve this problem is to manually adjust the gamma in the nVidia control panel. BUT: I have to do this each time I restart the computer. (It seems that Windows wants to manage display settings, even if I set up the nVidia control panel to be the only tool who manage the gamma settings).

    So here are my questions:

    * How to solve this problem?

    * Is it possible to configure the display of directly at the level of the material (not through any kinds of software) to solve this problem? I mean just like you can adjust a laptop-screen by pressing the buttons.

    * Does anyone know how to force Windows to let the good nVidia control panel control display settings?

Furthermore, I can't find your useful support. I had to search a lot to find out how to contact someone in your support. Now I have to write in a language other than my native language on an international forum, and I hope that someone will be able to help.

Will I receive an email notification when an answer will be displayed? If not, please also send your answer to: [email protected]

    Hello Jay

Satellite A200 is old model of laptop, and I can imagine that the fan cooling and air conditioning grill are full of dust.
Before changing anything your laptop must be completely disassembled and cleaned. I did this several times in the past and I must say that my books were much quieter than before. After the cooling system will work properly and laptop will be able to take a breath.

I put t know if you know someone who can help you with this. Please don't spend your money for new parts. At a first professional portable make cleaning.

    Hello

BIOS update requires the VAP (value added package) and all the security tools should be put off.
Here are full instructions of the update to the BIOS:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=60

You can also check if new OS install this fix because this problem could be related to confused operating system, you know, but first try reinstalling the VAP and make sure you use the good BIOS.

As far as I know that the ROM module must be flashed again with a disc of crisis.

In the worst case you will need to contact the Toshiba authorised service provider in order to solve this problem.

To my knowledge, a special crisis disk BIOS is required for reflashing the EMPRO module.
Some people were abele to create this disc using a few 3rd party apps but it wasn't always so I guess you have to contact service engineer has set.

  • Satellite 1805-S203: BIOS problems

    Hello
I have a satellite phone that shows me a message when I turn on the laptop:
BIOS block 3 damaged! Place the maintenance disk and press a key

I tried with all the updates, I've gotten since the page download, but without success.
Also, I tried pressing F12 to force the bios update asking on screen, and updates shows that it updates also, I use BIOFC64T.COM to flash image.

no idea, what else can I do?

    Hello

Only the service partner may use disk maintenance and therefore, you should communicate with the technicians in your country!
Faulty BIOS could be the reason for this error message.

PS; I studied a bit and looked for a similar display in this forum and found this one:

  • Satellite C660 2QH WLAN problem--loss of connection all the ~ 30 min

    Hello world

I just bought a SAT C660 nine Toshiba and I faced a strange problem - I lose the internet connection every 30 minutes for about 3-5 minutes, then it connects all of a sudden again.

I've been reading about the problem here and I fixed my power settings (although this also occurs when the laptop is plugged in), and I installed the new WLAN driver: 1005.19.0420.2011 (my Wireless LAN Adapter is: 8188CE). I thought that he that could have the problem in my anti-virus program, so I uninstalled. A few restarts later everything was as before - problem persists.

    Help, please!

PS. I'm from Germany, where this is relevant.

    Hello

Are you sure this isn't question of Wlan router?
It would be interesting to know if you have the same problems with other devices connected to the Wlan.

Next to the idea that this could be a router issue I think you should check some WLan Card settings.
In the Wlan card-> properties-> tab Device Manager to disable the option to turn off the device to save power.

You said that you have installed/updated test driver the driver from Realtek page too.
