Satellite C660 - Fan throw very often

Hello

I use a Toshiba C660 laptop. I noticed, this fan run very frequently (the temperature is 45-52 c). I tried to change "Toshiba Power Saver Settings V8.9.4.64" "Battery optimized" in 'advanced power settings', but that didn't help. I updated my BIOS to version 1.80, but he did ' help, too. When will be the new BIOS for this model?

Hello

Please don t understand me wrong but acitivy fan will be controlled automatically and is based on the CPU temperature. Still, the fan will start if the CPU is running on a high temperature to protect the equipment. So it of normal.

What you can do after a few months is the cleaning of cooling as described here:

  • Cooling M30X-125 fan turns very often if the USB device is connected

    Hello
I used USB devices with my M30X-125 during a few months and noticed that as soon as I connect a USB mouse or printer with external power supply power supply cooling fan works very often. With no device USB cooling fan is very "calm".
I've updated the BIOS with the latest 1.90 out and changed its settings (reduce the processor speed) of the effect of Utility. No of power on this fan cooling issue management.
Can you help me please in order to limit the work with the connected USB device cooling fan?
    Concerning

    Hello Phil

I put t really believe that there are many options to do better. Of course if you use a USB device, the CPU usage goes over the limit of use and produce more heat.

Try to check all the processes running and finish a useless manually.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - fan starts then stops

    Hello

Sorry for my English, I'm French, I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop a few days ago and I noticed that the fan starts and stops every minute at any time when the temperature exceeds about 40 degrees (noted with SpeedFan).
Even if I'm just the desktop, the Internet. However, it does not heat up much. Is this normal?

Before I had a laptop and the fan stops, but almost never had low-noise. I prefer it, but it's can be a simple matter of habit for the Toshiba...?

    Hello

Try it please change cooling method option in the advanced power settings.

Open power options > n a click your power profile that you use > choose the advanced power options > Toshiba Power Saver Settings > cooling method > change two optimized battery options.

I think that this will reduce fan activity.

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite A660 - Fans is very strong

    Hello

Ive recently bought toshiba satellite a660 11 m, its great, but his fans are very noisy even when im doing nothing (zero open applications)
When I open the toshiba pc health monitor he always says temp: 50 c on avrg and fans * always * on 68 to 70%. (now when im typing this fans are at 68% and only google chrome opens sometimes it looks like his office, no cell phone)
Note that laptops is 3 weeks old, so I doubt there is any dust in the cooling system.
Anyone else having this type of problem?
    THX

    Hello

What to say... My a500 is also great noise even I tried upgrading the Bios, play with power settings, cleaning of cooling system. fan control utility like speedfan and many other things but still... I just don't pay attention to the noise of the fan. You can reduce the noise loading the Cpu with some applications so that the fan continues to constantly operate at 54% with a less noticeable noise.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as what to do with the overheating problem that I currently have with my A300D. I had the laptop for less than a year, it is still under warranty but I don't know where to go or what to do to fix it.

The problem: about two months ago, I noticed the fan turns very hard and also the laptop gets very hot. Now it runs so hot the laptop shuts down completely. The heat being driven out of the laptop is so hot! burn your my infact.

Anyone has any advice they could offer me.

    Thank you

    Hi James

You wrote that you have the laptop less than a year, so my question is this is already cleaned it?
The laptop needs to be cleaned every 3-4 months and I do this every 3 months. Whenever I do I m wondering how much dust out and after this procedure the portable is a lot cooler.

Here's an interesting article from Toshiba on this subject:

  • A100-692 left side fan works very often

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite A100-692 with a processor intel Core Duo T2050 processor with and an ATI Radeon X 1400 graphics card. I am quite surprised how often works the fan on the left side. Sometimes it works even when the system is idle or I'm just surfing the web.

Anyone have an idea why this is and how the problem can be solved probably? I already changed the settings of the energy-saving and of the settings (Powerplay) of ATI Catalyst Control Center.

I'd be really grateful for your responses.

    Christian

    Hello Christian

I know it's very annoying, but it is not a problem you have described. If you see other notebooks of other producers of the same situation there. New laptops are really powerful if compared to previous models.

To increase the performance has a downside to produce more heat. If you check this forum, you will find a lot of discussion on the similar theme.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite C660 new but very slow

    Hello

As indicated in my username, I am not very good with these things. I bought the c660 a month ago and I can't believe the slow, it is, it takes forever to open a document and the Internet absolutely takes forever to open the same homepage.

I tried to disable add ons and I have only stored excel sheet and about 20 photos on the computer of his car, so I don't understand why it is like that, to be honest, it was like this from day one!

Please can someone tell me what I can do to fix the problem?
    Thanks a lot :)

  • Tecra A3-145: cooling fan works very often

    Hello.
I have a Tecra A3-145 I just bought. During regular browsing that fan comes on about every 15 seconds and remains on for about 30 seconds. Is this normal, especially for just browsing?

    Thanks for your help :)
    Dan

    Hi Dan,.

The ventilation system on my functions very similar to the one on your Tecra SA30. Fans usually starts in a second or two of the system being initialized and will be off until I have started using the system. Navigation Internet will usually cause fans run slowly at first, but any increase in activity such as downloading, or any use of the activex will cause fans to step up in speed.

Any use of busy graphics will cause fans to operate intensively, that will be burning CD/DVDs or video rendering.

It doesn't seem to me as if your Tecra is bad conduct. As stated in the previous post, make sure that the appliance is well ventilated.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite C660 - fan start every minute

    Hello

I just buy a Toshiba satellite it there two days now, but the fan turns on every minute when I go only on the web...

Listening to music / videos, it is almost drowned out by the noise, but otherwise it's really headlock.

It blows every minute 10/20 s and force even if he is not so strong, it's really disturbing.

    Is this normal?
    Please

    Hello

The fan would turn if the CPU would be stressed.
You can check in the Task Manager process stresses the CPU and could check if you can disable it.

In addition, I would recommend checking the Win 7 Power Management
There you can change the settings of the optimised battery cooling modules.

    Hope this helps

  • Satellite C660-1ZM is very slow

I recently fixed my laptop to its original state, so, nothing had been installed to this topic, it seems very slow, because it crashes or stuggles to load on several basic programs, sometimes it loads fine other times it just hangs, I installed several drivers in the list of Toshiba, but always remains the same.

    Any advice?
    Thank you

    Aaron

What are the core programs for you?
    What exactly happens?

I think you which is your laptop quite slow. Preinstalled operating system must be configured correctly.
You must remove all the unnecessary stuff system, configure the startup option to avoid the long start-up and have better performance of the laptop.

  • Satellite C660 fan error message - 18 c

Hello. My laptop was working fine until today when I kept getting an error message, 'Warning' and reads as follows: "WARNING: a problem with the cooling system has been detected." (Next line) Please, turn off computer immediately and return it for service. »

I turned off the laptop but I was wondering if it was possible that the fan may just need cleaning or something as I heard no problem. If I need to fix it, no one knows how much it would cost?

We cannot discuss here on costs. It is country specific service and prices are different.
The best you can do is contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

  • The fan runs very often one a Tecra A6

    Hello
I have a Tecra A6, about a month. I updated the BIOS yesterday to 2.60 and after that the fan works with intervals of 15 seconds. I don't know if it s the update of the BIOS that causes, but it was not there before... Anyone with the same problem? Can I go back to the old BIOS? If 'yes', how should I do?

    / Axel

    Hello

May I ask why you updated the BIOS?
Have you had problems or what?

I think it s not necessary to update the BIOS if the laptop works properly.
But of course, it of possible to downgrade the BIOS if you find the previous version of the Bios. But as far as I know on the Toshiba page you will find only the latest version of the BIOS. :(

But have you tried changing the settings in the Toshiba power saver?
What about the BIOS settings? Are there options CPU or fan?

  • Cooling fan runs very often on my Sat M40

    Hello
I bought my computer 2 weeks ago. I have problem with cooling fan, it runs about 2 minutes and stop 40 seconds :/ (He lights 51 degrees Celsius and off at 46 degrees celsius). No programs running in the background and the load of the processor in windows xp is 0-2%.
It is normal for this model or is something wrong and I should send to authorized service?

    Hi Piotr,

It seems quite normal to me. There are various settings that you can make in the power management to change this behavior, but it is usually at the expense of the performance of the system. As long as there is a sufficient amount of air through your laptop cooling there is nothing to fear for you.
