I tried to boot Linux, but it does not work

I have veins of confidential Documents that are not stored anywhere else and I really need to win our Association it is there a way I can recover or fix my HARD drive or I'll lose data so my company will crash amd burn

Hello

In most cases, the data is lost if the HARD drive is faulty and that you haven't created backups.
But I also found good offer from Toshiba here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/services/home

Here choose data recovery.
You can buy different Service of data recovery for hard drives. These services is good for the future. Now you could ask Toshiba hotline for other services of recovery to date, but of course, you have to pay for data recovery.

  • Satellite C660 - need a new hard drive, but which?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1f1 run windows 7 64-bit. 320GB hard drive there and I want to replace preferably with greater capacity, a but I'm not sure what would be appropriate.

    Anyone has any suggestions please?

    Hello

Satellite C660, but also other models of notebooks to new generation supports the SATA controller, which means that you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The size of the HARD disk is not relevant for the compatibility of the devices. This means that you can use HDD of 250 GB, 500GB etc.

But I wouldn't take a HARD drive for an upgrade. I would choose an SSD. This SSD drive is more expensive but believe me; It of certainly worth taking a SSD instead of HARD drive.
You will get great performance gain. This SSD drive is also very quiet.

Maybe it s best option for you

  • Satellite C660-2 q 8 does not start with 8 GB of RAM

    Hello I have a laptop toshiba satellite c660-2 q 8.

When I got it it was only 1 g of Ram I have now had 8g of RAM for it, but as soon as I get it the laptop starts as usual with the BIOS screen, then I get a black screen with a flashing - and that's all.

After awhile it will restart and do it again.
I contacted the place the RAM it.
RAM is right and he said it was the BIOS that needs updating, but it is the version 1.50 and will not update cos it's up-to-date, if I put the old RAM back it starts very well

    can you please help

It s NOT BIOS issue, but the RAM modules are NOT compatible.
Although the guy said that the RAM module have reason, obviously they are NOT

4 GB Genuine Toshiba PC3 DDR3 (1333 MHz) memory PA3918U-1M4G Module should be OK and should work fine.
Also the Kingston modules are large and provide good quality.

Less expensive modules don't is perhaps not fully compatible or not would work properly.

  • Transfer Ipod Satellite C660 library to external HARD disk

I'm trying to find a way to transfer my ipod on my external hard drive library. I saw on you tube, but when I try on my C660 laptop, it does nothing.

    Can anyone help.

    Hello

Maybe I m wrong, but why don't you post this request here in the Toshiba forum?
In my opinion this has nothing to do with the Toshiba laptop.
If you want to move or synchronize the files from ipod, use the Apple iTunes software.

I'm not familiar with ITunes (I put t it) but I guess you have to change the path file somewhere in the settings of iTunes and the path should point to the external DRIVE connected to the laptop drive.

  • Satellite C660-172 and drive HARD recovery plant

I removed the operating system on the C drive in my laptop and now I want to use recovery disc HARD to re - install the recovery again
Can I know the right way to do this!
    Thank you.

I don't know how you removed the BONES of the partition C and what exactly did you do and I m a little skeptical that it works, but you can try anyway.

Do it as described in the follow-up paper - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

  • Satellite C660 - 23 M Windows 7 hard disk error

I've only had my laptop (Satellite C660 - 23M) for three months, I started to have problems with him about a week earlier, including a time Blue Screen of Death, but I got the computer Safe Mode and did a system restored and it has been fine since then. Then earlier today, I had a Windows hard drive error, telling me to back-up and then repair or replace the hard drive. The back-up goes on an external hard drive as we speak, so fingers crosssed I can't stand to lose all my data.

I created a disk backup media when I got to the laptop but every time I tried with validation, it would fail, but in time, I don't think I should be so little time, just so created a non-validated copy and thought that would be nice (I'm now concerned!).

Should I restore my hard drive? If so, how? What has caused this? And because it is only 3 months old, am I stuck with a laptop to duff who will continue to break down on me?

    Hello

In your case, I would recommend to check the capacity of the HARD drive.
This can be done using the freeware tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Utility.
I guess that this software can help detect HARD drive errors.

If the HARD drive would be affected, then you need to replace the HARD drive.
Here you will find a nice instruction how to do this:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=138

the laptop seems to be covered by the warranty, if the HARD drive can be replaced under term average conditions, this can be done free of charge
I would recommend asking the ASP (partner in your country) for this HARD drive they could send you this HDD.

  • Satellite C660 - right of the screen will flash green

Hey, I wonder if someone can help me - the screen on my satellite C660, only about two months old, started flashing green stripes a couple of days after I set the screen forward slightly. Nothing has got rid of him, and whenever the screen is moved it flickers more strongly or turns into a solid green Strip.

I thought that this could be a problem where the screen connects to the computer, but I looked around the hinges and it seem not to be the son of cowards. I have not yet contacted Toshiba because I'll have to call their support number UK since France, which will cost a bomb, wonder if anyone here had any ideas first? If it happened to someone else?

    Thank you!

In my opinion, it is not so important if someone else the bonnet or not and that you should not waste your time waiting for responses.

I put t know where you bought this laptop but every laptop purchased in Europe has guaranteed EMEA then please call authorized Toshiba service provider in the country where you live now and ask for help. You have the new laptop and if there are some hardware related question lets fix that.

Addresses and telephone numbers of aspic all you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

    Good luck.

  • Increase the video RAM on a Satellite C660-1N6

I tried to run a software for video editing (Cyberlink PowerDirector 8) on my Satellite C660-1N6, but it does not start.

I was informed that 64 MB of ram of the laptop is not enough. My old laptop had a shared ram of with256Mb card SIS Mirage 3 and the program worked fine.
I told myself I must increase the video ram 256 MB, but I don't know how this will affect the operation of the excellent laptop.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hello

I found some info that your laptop has graphics UMA (Unified Memory Architecture). This means that the GPU uses system RAM instead of having there own dedicated RAM. They are fine for the use of the web, watching movies and so forth, but don't not to play or using video graphics performance of publishing applications.

As I know there is no way to manually set. Everything works automatically and depends on the RAM used in Notepad.

  • Satellite C660-108 does not start if the USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,

I hope you could help me.

I'm having a problem with my dongle bluetooth and satellite c660-108.
It all works perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do whatever I want.

But then when I'm mobile stop and turn it on again it will go if the bluetooth dongle is always in the USB.

I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
I have to turn it off, remove the bluetooth dongle and then turn it back on.
And then windows starts. After that, I put in bluetooth dongle, once again I want to work with her.

It isn't a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying when I have to leave the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows began.
I'm running under win 8.1 but he already had with 8 victory.

    Anyone any ideas?

    > I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
Especially the blinking cursor is displayed because the laptop can not find a boot device.

It seems that the device cannot put on the HARD drive while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you check the boot order in the BIOS.

Put the HARD drive in the first place and the USB boot last device.
Save changes and check if it helps.

    Hello

My HARD drive sometimes creates similar sounds.
I'm not quite sure about this sound but I save data always because some time ago one of my hard drives is dead and I could lose all my data so I would not have some backups created in the past of m

I recommend doing the same thing
Who knows what s wrong with the HARD drive, but I know with certainty that sooner or later all hard disks will die

He said nothing, I mean diagnostic tool Pc can can show result falsely and the drive works very well himself. In any case, backup all data in case of failure. You can also download the 3rd party program to test the State of the hard drive. (such as hard drive Inspector)

  • Drive HARD on Satellite C660 failure

    Hello, I have a problem.

I am owner of laptop Toshiba Satellite C660, I bought it two years ago, but I did not extend my warranty.

Unfortunately, six months after my warranty expired, my HARD drive failed. One day he started making weird sounds and the computer was not able to start. I find that my HARD drive is broken and I need a new.

So I ordered a new one, put it in my laptop, installed Windows 7 above (I'm a student and my University give us Windows for free). But there's this problem:

Resolution of my laptop can be changed to two possible options: 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. I don't remember what the resolution that I had before, but I'm 100% sure that it was better, and, what is more important, it is 16:9, not 4:3.

Another problem is that my function key (Fn) are not. So I'm not able to activate my WiFi or Bluetooth, or make my laptop into hibernation.

Can you help me? What should I do?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

At first please be so nice model number and post accurate of your laptop (C660-xxx). I don't know if your laptop comes with preinstalled OS but if yes does I m wondering really you do not have original recovery image.

In any case, after the new installation of the operating system, you must install all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities.
Thanks for posting as soon as possible the model number and can check the Toshiba download page and help you install drivers, tools and utilities.

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV starts plus-Boot not found Bishop

I don't know how but my grandson has seriously broken the Satellite C660 - 2 EV

Boot from the disk - Boot Mgr not found

Boot from the recovery partition - Boot Mgr not found.

Boot from an installation (generic) Windows 7 disk - boots, begins to install, finds, he does not have a required driver (but don't tell me what it is). Allows me to access the drives C:, D:, E:, and X:

Boot from recovery Toshiba DVD. White bar gets about 25% on the whole of the screen then stops with "You have removed a USB support during installation" (or something like that, laptop currently in pieces).

Removed and replaced the memory and DVD player. Removal of the HARD drive connected to my PC via the USB adapter and scanned the two visible partitions (300 GB each) at the level of bad sector. No problems.

    Help! I'm out of options.

Laptop must be functional (basically) as it starts from DVD (non-Toshiba).

HARD drive seems OK when verified externally and start (Non-Toshiba)

    What remains?

Everything that you have done is good, and I would do the same tests.

The value of the default BIOS and test it with another HARD disk, if you can get one for testing purposes.
I can't say for sure, but somehow, I feel THAT HDD is the troublemaker.
Try installing the DVD of initial recovery on the new HARD drive.

  • Satellite C660-1N1 - MS OFFICE 2010 starter GONE

    Hello

Just before I return this piece of sss... to the shop, I ask you for help. I recently bought the TOSHIBA Satellite C660-1N1. I got a MS OFFICE STARTER... (Oh, it's nice, I think).

After you install the software from the hard drive, I tried hard to use the thing for a few days. Due to some problems, I decided to uninstall it with an idea to install or reinstall once more.
BUT I HAVE NO IDEA where the configuration file. Maybe the particion of recovery?

Question 1: Is it possible that the installation of MS Office starter files are stored there?
Question 2: How the hell can I enter / start / open this particion recovery?

    Please help, I'm really desperate...

    Thanks in advance.

    > Question 1: is it possible that the installation of MS Office starter files are stored there?

Lol you can't install them separately because the MS Office starter pack is part of the image of Toshiba. The image is a package that contains the Windows operating system, a tool of Toshiba, drivers and 3rd party software as WinDVD, office, etc.
So if you want to get that back, you need to install the image of Toshiba once again or you define the BONES to the point prior to the MS Office has been uninstalled.

    > Question 2: how the hell can I enter / start / open this particion recovery?
    Check this box:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

I also recommend the manual pre-installed.
You will find some info about Toshiba Recovery and how to create a recovery disk which is very important in the event that something goes wrong with the HARD drive
