Satellite C660: No WLAN after BIOS update

I have a laptop model C660-115 (PSCOLE).

Given that I made an update of the BIOS (in vs 1.40) my WIFI doesn't work anymore.
I made sure the drivers for the card WIFI (Realtek RTL8188CE) are up to date.
Windows says the WLAN card is ok ("device is working properly"), but no connection is possible.
My wired Internet connection works fine.

Any suggestions? Clearcut alternatives? Please?

Out of curiosity: why have you updated the BIOS? Have you noticed a serious problem with your laptop computer or just to have the latest version?

Can you turn on/off wireless card using the FN + F8 key combination?
Are you sure THAT WLAN is enabled before you try to use it?

Your WLAN is visible for your laptop?
Have you tried to reboot your router?

  • Satellite Pro P200-15W: after Bios Update 1.90 incredibly noisy fan

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P200-15W, I recently made an update to BIOS version 1.9 and seems to have been a big mistake.
After restarting the computer, I had a lot of software deconfig and the fan has become incredibly noisy.

I have the problem with the Toshiba Vista registration software, I get this message: "registration of Vista has stopped working". I read other discussions, I don't want to just disable it in the start.ini file, I would actually solve the problem if there is a way.

Is there a way to change the configuration of fans? I read a post from Toshiba on another model of laptop that has had the same problem of noisy fans after an update of the BIOS, they gave that a solution with a new version of the BIOS, is there a way to reverse the BIOS to the previous version? (recovery CD will be useful for this purpose)?

    See you soon

    Edgard

    Hello

It seems that the picture of the fan was changed and renewed in the new version of BIOS, and so fans run fall.
Why the table fan has been changed?

Well, usually something like this is necessary to improve the reduction of the internal temperature while the CPU and GPU are running with maximum performance.
This helps to prevent the equipment from damage!

Usually, the recovery CD formats the whole HARD drive (partitions too) and installs only the image of Toshiba on the notebooks of HARD drive.
The image contains the OS, drivers and additional software and has nothing to do with the BIOS update.
But you can try to recover the laptop to see if you can solve the problems of software as "Vista record"!

If you want to reverse the BIOS, you will need to contact the ASP in your country!

Sorry, but all I can suggest.

    Best regards

  • Satellite C650 - black screen after BIOS update

My Satellite C650 Windows 7 - won't start afte BIOS update / switch.

Everything worked very well until the automatic update of Toshiba asked me to download and install the new BIOS update, I did. At the same session Windows and McAfee asked updated. I agreed to all. After all updates have been installed, turns off. The next day when I walk, I see only black screen. I also tried F2, F12 and drive recovery. Nothing happens!

    Any recommendation?

    Hey,.

It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS and so that you can t the computer unbootable. But I put t understand why you did the BIOS update. If everything works correctly, you can forget about this update. More if you do a BIOS update you shouldn't t run any other updates or programs that might affect the update of the BIOS.

Anyway, in this case you can do nothing and you need professional help. Please contact an authorized service provider and guys can help you update the ROM module On the Web from Toshiba site, you can find a list of all the FSA:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

  • My Satellite L300-110 hangs after BIOS update

My Satellite falls down after I updated the BIOS. The old version of my Satellite L300 - 110 (PSLB0E) BIOS was 1.40 and upgrade to 1.50.
From there on, my system hangs over and over again.

Any help please. I cannot install Office Enterprise 2007, cannot defragment all my readers.
Is there an option to restore changes made to my BIOS?
    Help!

The default settings in the BIOS load after the update?

You can reinstall Windows with the Toshiba Recovery disk? First back up your data because the HARD drive will be formatted and then start the installation of recovery.

A restoration to the previous version of the BIOS is not possible, because on the Toshiba site is only the most recent (1.50) BIOS. Only an ASP (authorized service provider) can do a restore.
You can search for an ASP here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an ASP.

I don't know Mr. but you did a backup of the old BIOS? Maybe you can Flash this back.

  • Satellite L300 regularly freezes after BIOS update

I've updated the latest bios for my Toshiba Satellite L300. However, after using the computer for half an hour, the computer is frozen.

Even though I reinstalled the operating system, this problem still occurs. Can someone view please the link to the previous bios for this Toshiba L300?

    Kind regards.

Check if there are several versions of BIOS according to the operating system that you are using as if it were with other series of satellites?
And redefine the BIOS settins on default. This often allows too much.

Not sure, but I think that you will not find a previous version of the BIOS on Toshiba download page and so you can ask your ASP if they can return BIOS back to a previous version.

  • Re: Satellite L500D - boot problem after BIOS update

I downloaded the new version of BIOS (v1.4) official Toshiba site to update my computer Satellite L500D (PSLK0A - 00U009). But after the update, Windows 7 cannot start, Windows logo appears for a while then it restarts automatically. Windows then goes into repair mode. I followed the instructions on the screen to fix. But it does not work.
When I reinstalled Windows, the computer worked fine until Windows Update told me to restart the computer. The computer dies again.

I think that this version of BIOS has a problem. I wonder if there is a way to downgrade the BIOS to the earlier version. I found some instructions on the net to use the Phoenix recovery disk, but I have no file disk and BIOS.
    Please Please HELP, very appreciate.

Try to install the OS to help original Toshiba recovery image. After disabling automatic Microsoft updates to install. When you get the message about controlled initially available updates and install important updates only.

Check it once more to see if the same thing will happen again. Display the results.

  • Re: Satellite L40 - black screen after BIOS update

    Hello world

I have exactly the same problem, as shown here:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-euro...ThreadId=35156

My laptop is a Satellite L40 - 150 (model PSL48E) it came with Vista and BIOS version 1.60

I updated the BIOS to version 5.50, because I wanted to install Windows XP. The BIOS update process went well and the computer restarted automatically. After the reboot, I entered the BIOS (by pressing the F2 key). I pressed F9 to load the default settings and you exit the BIOS, saving the changes.

Restarting the laptop and the screen is now completely empty. Nothing appears in it.

I tried to remove and then reinsert the RAM modules, but it did not help.

So, I guess the only option is to return the laptop to a service center?

Why Toshiba do that? They are this deliberately or what?

    Kind regards.

    Hello

I put t agree with Leolo and put I t too agree with you.
The point is that there are tow updated BIOS for the L40.
    One for Win XP and one for Win Vista;
But the two BONES work on with the two BIOS but some functions such as the FN buttons wouldn't work if you n t use good BIOS for the good OS.

The BIOS on the Toshiba page is not defective. But of course, it is always possible that something will go wrong during the BIOS update procedure because the BISO update is always risky!

One of my friends has updated the BIOS on this laptop and everything went well!

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

    Hello, Lukas

Unfortunately there no public document on this subject, but if you see other topics, you will see the latest version fix some graphics issues and it is confirmed that the latest version fix this with success.

I put t know why your last update of the BIOS has been without success, but when you do the BIOS update please remember there is no external device connected, and is very important to do with AC power only and not with power supply battery. Before you start with the update BIOS please Info how to do this.

    Hello

Hmmm what to say. Sounds not good and in my opinion, looks like you have successfully updated the laptop computer with a bad BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update process
Are you sure you used the right BIOS of 110%?

It seems that you will not be able to fix this problem yourself, without any additional help from the laptop technician.
In most cases, the BIOS has to be flashed again on the particular way

For me it s clear, you will need to contact the ASP to get rid of this problem

    Best regards and good luck

  • No answer does reference satellite A110-195 (PSAB0) after BIOS update

I downloaded the latest Bios for laptop and when I installed it... It gave me an error but I can't remember it.
So I closed the flash bios and tried to restart windows but it hung at the "closing windows.
So I pressed the button for 5 seconds and it didn't close.

I tried several times but no response... so I closed it by removing the battery... after that I turned on the pc, the power light is on with cd and no signal in the monitor...

I tried to change the Rams, but no change... the hard drive works and I tried not to connect an external monitor and no changes, but I'm sure that nothing happened to the VGA card.

Please help me what should I do

    Hello

Do not damage the BIOS is a fundamental requirement for the functionality of the laptop. From your description, there must be a problem with the BIOS itself. I can't say with certainty that the BIOS is damaged but if you noticed the error message, everything is possible.

I'm afraid that your laptop must be controlled by technicians. Using different diagnostic tools, they can check if the BIOS is damaged or not. Sorry, but I don't think you can do something alone.

  • Satellite C660D-117 dead after Bios Update

Yesterday, I tried to run the bios upgrade, but it got stuck at step 3 (of 27 I think).
I left like this for more than an hour, nothing happened.

I also tried to cancel or press CTRL + ALT + DEL but the machine has been completely frozen.
He did not react when I pulled out the power cord.

Basically, the only thing I could do was to remove the battery I did. PROBLEM - now the laptop is completely dead. Is not like the others said that it starts. It does absolutely nothing - even there is no LED turns on when I plug in the power cord.

I tried to remove the battery and hold power for awhile to reset the CMOS, but not luck.
It does not react at all.

Do you think it's solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it's even possible) or do I have to buy a new motherboard?

    Thank you

    > Think it's solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it's even possible) or do I have to buy a new motherboard?

It of difficult to say in most cases it should be possible to bring back the laptop to life flashing the ROM module (where are stored the BIOS), once more using a disc of crisis.

I put t know if this help but take a look in this thread:
