Satellite C660D white screen after BIOS update

I ran the update of the BIOS on laptop Satellite C660D PSC1YE recommended and he appeared to succeed, but when it restarts the screen won't turn on. I tried a few things to fix, but nothing worked.

Tried:

  • connect an external monitor via VGA - white too
  • remove the battery of the CMOS button
  • removing a hard drive startup, to replace again
  • a short-circuit the J1 jumper under RAM slots

What else can I try?

Here is the windows bios update program:

Try to start with the battery.

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

  • Satellite C650 - black screen after BIOS update

My Satellite C650 Windows 7 - won't start afte BIOS update / switch.

Everything worked very well until the automatic update of Toshiba asked me to download and install the new BIOS update, I did. At the same session Windows and McAfee asked updated. I agreed to all. After all updates have been installed, turns off. The next day when I walk, I see only black screen. I also tried F2, F12 and drive recovery. Nothing happens!

    Any recommendation?

    Hey,.

It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS and so that you can t the computer unbootable. But I put t understand why you did the BIOS update. If everything works correctly, you can forget about this update. More if you do a BIOS update you shouldn't t run any other updates or programs that might affect the update of the BIOS.

Anyway, in this case you can do nothing and you need professional help. Please contact an authorized service provider and guys can help you update the ROM module On the Web from Toshiba site, you can find a list of all the FSA:

  • Re: Satellite L40 - black screen after BIOS update

    Hello world

I have exactly the same problem, as shown here:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-euro...ThreadId=35156

My laptop is a Satellite L40 - 150 (model PSL48E) it came with Vista and BIOS version 1.60

I updated the BIOS to version 5.50, because I wanted to install Windows XP. The BIOS update process went well and the computer restarted automatically. After the reboot, I entered the BIOS (by pressing the F2 key). I pressed F9 to load the default settings and you exit the BIOS, saving the changes.

Restarting the laptop and the screen is now completely empty. Nothing appears in it.

I tried to remove and then reinsert the RAM modules, but it did not help.

So, I guess the only option is to return the laptop to a service center?

Why Toshiba do that? They are this deliberately or what?

    Kind regards.

    Hello

I put t agree with Leolo and put I t too agree with you.
The point is that there are tow updated BIOS for the L40.
    One for Win XP and one for Win Vista;
But the two BONES work on with the two BIOS but some functions such as the FN buttons wouldn't work if you n t use good BIOS for the good OS.

The BIOS on the Toshiba page is not defective. But of course, it is always possible that something will go wrong during the BIOS update procedure because the BISO update is always risky!

One of my friends has updated the BIOS on this laptop and everything went well!

  • Satellite C660D-117 dead after Bios Update

Yesterday, I tried to run the bios upgrade, but it got stuck at step 3 (of 27 I think).
I left like this for more than an hour, nothing happened.

I also tried to cancel or press CTRL + ALT + DEL but the machine has been completely frozen.
He did not react when I pulled out the power cord.

Basically, the only thing I could do was to remove the battery I did. PROBLEM - now the laptop is completely dead. Is not like the others said that it starts. It does absolutely nothing - even there is no LED turns on when I plug in the power cord.

I tried to remove the battery and hold power for awhile to reset the CMOS, but not luck.
It does not react at all.

Do you think it's solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it's even possible) or do I have to buy a new motherboard?

    Thank you

    > Think it's solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it's even possible) or do I have to buy a new motherboard?

It of difficult to say in most cases it should be possible to bring back the laptop to life flashing the ROM module (where are stored the BIOS), once more using a disc of crisis.

I put t know if this help but take a look in this thread:

Otherwise recommend to ask a Toshiba service technician for assistance

If you check the Toshiba document you would see that your Satellite P300 is not related to this issue.

In your case I would recommend upgrading the BIOS and graphics driver.
In addition to keep your operating system up-to-date.

I had this problem under Win XP and a MS patch and an update of the graphics card driver helped solve this problem.

    Satellite C660D-1F2 (PCS1YE)

    Hello

I'm afraid that something goes wrong with the update of the BIOS, and now BIOS is damn Mr. usually in this case you need professional help from Toshiba service but it can be quite expensive.

On this forum, you can find many discussions where people have described the same problem. Some of them have been able to solve this problem. a very interesting thread, you can find here. Check it out please.

  • Satellite C660D (PSC1YE) black screen after BIOS update

I tried to update my Bios on my Satellite C660D portable (psc1YE) last week (big mistake).

Something went wrong during the update and now when I power on I just get a black screen (LEDS and fan).

After reviewing, the conclusion is that I damaged the BIOS that must now be blind flashed.
So I got the hand on a 512MB memory stick, formatted using FAT through windows XP and used Wincris to create a startup disk after you have added the file bios.rom (renamed Bios.wph) which I extracted the last update of the BIOS on the Toshiba site.

My memory stick has three visible files on it, Phlash16.exe, bios.wph and minidos.
I plug laptop with battery, DVD player and power disconnected to stick, and hold Fn + B re-connection cable cable, turn it on.

The fan whirs at full speed, and the USB lights up and flashes then for a minute, as if being read. No matter how long I let on, the fan will continue whirring and the USB is on and when I unplug and put in still works a black screen.

I tried different sticks, (up to 4 GB with FAT32 format), programs of different startup (for example, the HP utility) drive but still no luck.

Can someone tell me what I do wrong? I tried to look for a newer version of Phlash16 just in case that was the problem, but can not find one any where (mine is version 2008)

All advice would be greatly appreciated even if it's just to tell me that I'm wasting my time because the pc is not repairable.

I can't tell you if you waste your time or not because I n know if the motherboard ROM module is OK or not

In most cases, it should be possible to reflash the ROM module using the BIOS crisis disk but this disc is available to authorized Toshiba service technicians and as much as I know reflash this methods is not always the same

However, in some cases it might be possible that the mobo could not be fixed by disk crisis, it would be the worst case

I recommend you to contact a certified maintainer Toshiba to check guys would be able to use the crisis disk and could test whether its possible to reflash the module ROM
Is it not would be not possible well in this case you would need new motherboard :(
But lets hope do ' t you need...

Don t misunderstand me, but may I ask why you n t post more information about your problem?
Important to know is that your laptop you have exactly and where to download the updated BIOS and for what model. This is important information.

By the way: have you ever tried to load the default settings in the BIOS after update?

If the BIOS update was not properly flashed, the ROM should generally be flashed with a disc of crisis of the BIOS.
This can be done by authorized Toshiba available in your country.
Then get in touch with the ASP to solve this problem.

  • Satellite L450 (PSLY0E) - a black screen after BIOS update

It seems I have "brick" my phone during a bios utdate that went wrong... black screen as suspect: o.

The laptop is a Toshiba satellite L450 (PSLY0E)
The new bios image is named "bwaa150a.rom".

Anyone know if it is possible to recover the bios of the flash or floppy drive, using a sort of toolfrom recovery inside the bios chip?... .or something?

Anyone know who is the manufacturer of this bios?
If I rename the bios image during a recovery, what 12xxxxx be named?

To my knowledge, it is possible to reflash the EPROM module using the special procedure of crisis of the BIOS. But this crisis BIOS disk for Toshiba computers laptops isn't available for download.
This must be done by authorized maker Toshiba.

But I also read in the forum about those who tried some discs of crisis 3rd party BIOS.
Sometimes it worked, but in most cases, you need advanced help technician.

However, to use the forum search option advanced to search for similar topics on crisis disk BIOS. Otherwise, as I said above: you last chance might be the ASP.

  • Satellite C660 - white screen after instalation image recovery

Strange problem. My Satellite C660D-1FM was a bunch of updates from Microsoft (did not updates for centuries as it was used by my daughter and not connected to the internet) and after completing it restarted and I got the Toshiba splash screen and nothing. Holding F8 gives the same problem, tried turning the key '0' and that was the same. Connected to an external monitor and it's the same thing. I can't get into the BIOS and everything seems fine.

Then, thinking that the HDD is maybe defective I mounted another drive hard and fully installed Win7 on a Microsoft DVD (SP1 and all updates) and everything works. Then, I thought I try and restore the laptop to factory settings by default using Toshiba DVD recovery which Id created. Worked well during the installation, all the installed DVD 3 and he's gone through the procedure installation, portable got at the end when he tried to restart it, rebooted and now back to the same error - Toshiba start screen is ok, but then he'll just empty. To convince me that I wasn't going crazy I then reinstalled Win7 my DVD of Microsoft and he moved very well, did all the updates and worked all day today with no problem.

Someone at - it an idea of what's going on?

Hmmm... something like that shouldn't happen.
Do you use the recovery disc for the first time?
Have you noticed the same result on both hard drives?

Problem is that there is not much to do about it and there is no way to change it either in recovery installation runs, or later during the installation of windows is underway.

Try to set the BIOS to default settings and simply try to reinstall the recovery image.

  • Re: Satellite L500D - boot problem after BIOS update

I downloaded the new version of BIOS (v1.4) official Toshiba site to update my computer Satellite L500D (PSLK0A - 00U009). But after the update, Windows 7 cannot start, Windows logo appears for a while then it restarts automatically. Windows then goes into repair mode. I followed the instructions on the screen to fix. But it does not work.
When I reinstalled Windows, the computer worked fine until Windows Update told me to restart the computer. The computer dies again.

I think that this version of BIOS has a problem. I wonder if there is a way to downgrade the BIOS to the earlier version. I found some instructions on the net to use the Phoenix recovery disk, but I have no file disk and BIOS.
    Please Please HELP, very appreciate.

    TKS

Try to install the OS to help original Toshiba recovery image. After disabling automatic Microsoft updates to install. When you get the message about controlled initially available updates and install important updates only.

Check it once more to see if the same thing will happen again. Display the results.
