Satellite C850 - blue screen at startup

Hello

My elderly father has a Toshiba Satellite C850-1MC laptop - (Intel Pentium B960 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB, 15.6 "HD LED, DVDRW, Intel HD, Webcam, Bluetooth, Windows 8 64-bit).

When he started the laptop the initial screen appears for a short time, then goes to a blue screen showing only the mouse pointer (no error code appears).

If on the initial screen he quickly presses a button brings you to the screen of welcome for a very short period and then go to the bluescreen as above.

Anyone got any ideas how to sort?
Thanks in advance

I don't know what the problem is and why this happens but if possible recovering your laptop and set it back to factory settings. Please test once more and send feedback.

It can be assumed that the problem may be, but the best test you can do is to put the laptop to factory settings again. Recovery image has been tested and if there is not some hardware problem everything should work properly again.

    Hi edwardcliffe,

    ·         Have you made changes on the computer?

    ·         Are you able to boot to the desktop?

    ·         What is the full error message?

    ·         What do you mean when you say "I want to take this also affected the system restore and other things?

If you are not able to boot to the desktop, follow the steps.

You will need an XP installation CD to try to solve this problem.  If you do not, try to borrow one just to run this fix.

    (1) configure the computer to boot from the CD if it is not already configured in this way. You may need to enter the BIOS to configure the computer to boot from the CD.

    (2) set the boot order on:

    Floppy (if present)

    CD/DVD-ROM

    Hard drive

    RECORDING and EXIT

    (3) to start the computer with the XP installation CD in the drive. When you see the prompt «Press any key to boot from CD...» ", do and start the process to boot on CD.

    (4) when the Recovery Console option is available (press R to start the Recovery Console), do it. You may be asked to what Windows installation to enter, what kind of cases the number of the Windows installation you want to work (usually 1).

    (5) when you are prompted, enter the password for the Windows installation. If you have not set up a password just press ENTER

    (6) at the command prompt, type:

chkdsk /r  (there is a space before the /) Press ENTER.

Odd part is the system has two RAM slots, we have a 2 GB key and another has a 1 GB. Could not get the machine to start with two sticks in. Will start with a stick in each thin slot. Will not start no matter how they are installed if you are using the two RAM slots. Ran SFC/scannow. He found errors, that it cannot correct. How can I fix these errors?

    Hello

Perhaps you have different brands of RAM in your computer, and so it would not start with the two inserted Rams. Do a check for your specific PC memory that tells you what products work with your system.

Follow the information in this article.

Will be saved my files / is there a way to fix this? Thank you!

    Hello

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

The system has RAID? If so, it's also very suspicious.

This error is usually a driver problem and display adapter (video) driver is the most suspicious if she
may be others. Antivirus/antispyware/security programs, equipment (heat) and major software problems
can also cause the error. When you get to the section of the driver to use the Troubleshoot utility my generic
methods in the next message and then return to the if necessary troubleshooting tool.

Have you recently added hardware or drivers updated? Don't forget to look in Control Panel - Windows
Updates to see if all drivers have been updated it. Other donor opportunities include the antivirus/anti-
    spyware/security programs.

When you get to the pilot and sections of the memory of the troubleshooter check the following message to
update drivers and memory test and then return to the troubleshooter if necessary.

    BCCode: 7F 0x0000007E which is also 0x1000007E

    Cause

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bug control is a very common bug control. TO
interpret, you must identify which exception has been generated.

    Common exception codes are:

    • 0xc0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION indicates a memory access violation has occurred.

For a complete list of exception codes, see the Ntstatus.h file located in theinc directory
the Microsoft Windows Driver Kit (WDK).

    Solve the problem

If you do not have to debug this problem, you must use certain basic troubleshooting techniques.

    • Make sure you have enough disk space.
    • If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the driver or check with the
    • Reference of the manufacturer for driver updates.
    • Try changing video cards.
    • Check with your hardware vendor for updates to the BIOS.
    • Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.

If you plan to debug this problem, you may find it difficult to get a stack trace. Parameter 2
(the address of the exception) must identify the driver or function that caused the problem.

If the exception code 0 x 80000003 occurs, a hard-coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but the system
has been launched with the /nodebug. switch. This problem should occur infrequently. If it occurs repeatedly,
Make sure that a kernel debugger is connected and the system is booted with the Switch/DEBUG .

In case of exception code 0 x 80000002, the trap frame provides additional information.

If you do not know the specific cause of the exception, consider the following questions:

    • Hardware incompatibility. Make sure all new hardware that is installed is listed in the
    • List of Microsoft Windows Marketplace tested products.
    • Service driver or defective peripheral system. A service driver or defective peripheral system can be
    • responsible for this error. Hardware problems, such as the incompatibilities of the BIOS, memory, conflicts
    • and IRQ conflicts can also generate this error.

If a driver is listed by name in the bug check message, disable or remove that driver. Disable
or remove drivers or services that have been recently added. If the error occurs during startup
sequence and the system partition is formatted with the NTFS file system, you may be able to use safe
Mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the system startup procedure
in Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file.

If the problem is associated with Win32k.sys, the source of the error may be a third remote
control program. If this software is installed, you can remove the boot of the computer service
by using the Recovery Console, and then by removing the offending system service file.

Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the
device or the driver that generated the bug check 0x7E.

You can also disable memory cache BIOS may try to resolve the error. You should also
Run the diagnostics of material, especially the scanner memory, which provides the manufacturer of the system.
For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

The error that generates this message may occur after the first reboot during Windows Setup, or
Once the installation is complete. A possible cause of the error is lack of disk space for installation and system
BIOS incompatibilities. For problems during the installation of Windows that are associated with the absence of disc
space, reduce the number of files on the disk drive hard target. Find and delete any temporary
the files that you do not have to have files hidden Internet, backup application and.chkfiles files that
contain fragments of file saved to disk scans. You can also use another hard drive with more drive
free space for the installation. You can solve the problems of BIOS by upgrading the version of the system BIOS.

  • Satellite P100-347: blue screen at startup - unable to boot volume

Recently, I left my 2 younger brothers playing NFS Carbon on my satellite P100-347, pre-installed with media center edition 2005, and now it fails to start.

During the process of possibly starting a blue screen appears for about a second and then it shutsdown (I managed to make the words "unable to boot volume" on the basis of the blue screen).

I tried to boot with a XP media center DVD but it gives me only a possibility of reinstalling the operating system with a cost of losing all my important data. Normally I would have picked up the system, but I don't want to lose my data.

Can I do other than take it to a technician?

    Hello

Well, for the most part the BSOD appears due to hardware problem or serious software.
In your case, the software problem is possible

Unfortunately, I think that the new installation of the OS is the best way to get the laptop works properly.
Now, you want to know how to record data and the files well, I think that you should remove the laptop HARD drive and must try to connect the 2.5 HDD via external USB controller to another computer. Then you can save the files to the other HARD disk

I think, now, you know that regular backups are important and necessary!

Basically to keep things simple when the Realteck driver ac97 is installed or / and when it is not extinguished my laptop usually start past the login screen.

    Hello

Usually, when you use the restore for the installation of the OS CD everything should work correctly on condition that all hardware components are not defective. After the installation of recovery, it is not necessary to install anything.

Please just check the status of audio device in Device Manager, call the sound settings and the volume control on the left side for laptop. Ensure that the sound is not set to mute.

If possible please give us more information on all that after the installation of recovery.

    Hello

    BSOD is always a painful question because it may be related to different reasons;
It may be a hardware problem, but it can also be a serious software problem.
So it's not easy to tell what exactly causes this

I got a BSOD in the past, because my RAM was faulty.
I have replaced and since it s ok.

Friend of mine had a BSOD problem too. It was caused by the graphics driver.
Updating the graphics card driver helped.

The high temperature may be one more reason to check if the temperature is not too high.

The new installation of the OS might be an option too, but it's your own decision

    Hello

To help you, we will need files DMP to analyze what exactly happened at the time of the accident, etc.

If you don't know where the DMP files, here's how to get to them:

    1. go to the folder % systemroot%\Minidump.
2 copy all the DMP files in the Minidump folder on your desktop and zip then those files.
3 download the zip containing the files DMP to Skydrive or a Web hosting of your choice and paste in your answer.

If you plan to use Skydrive, but do not know how to download it, please see the following:

    http://www.WikiHow.com/use-SkyDrive

Please note that all programs "cleaner" such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc., default will remove DMP files after use.

If your computer doesn't generate DMP files, follow these steps:

    1. start > type systemroot which should show the Windows folder, click it. Once inside this folder, make sure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to create a new folder and name it Minidump.

    2. Windows key + key Pause. This should appear in the system. Click Advanced on the left system settings > advanced > performance > settings > advanced > make sure there is a check mark for "manage automatically the size of pagefile for all readers."

    3. Windows key + key Pause. This should appear in the system. Click Advanced on the left system settings > advanced > startup and Recovery > settings > system > ensure there is a check mark next to "write an event to the system log.

Make sure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure that the path is % systemroot%\Minidump.

    4. check that the viewers is ENABLED:

Start > Search > type services.msc > on the name tab, search for Windows Error Reporting Service > if the service status is not started, then right-click and select start. Also to ensure that, under Startup Type set to automatic rather than manual. You can do this by right click, select properties and under general selection on 'Automatic' startup type and then click on apply.

If you can not get into normal mode to do this, please do so via Safe Mode.

    Kind regards

    Patrick

Whenever I try to use Skype all I get is a blue screen where my webcam should be. I checked to see if my webcam doesn't work at all, and all I get is the web cam iniliziation failed Please check device and restart.

I tried this but nothing helped. I also tried to reinstall the camera and update the drivers. Still nothing.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I was told that if I update the BIOS it might be useful, but I also said that this could screw up the laptop completely...

In front of me, I have Satellite P500 and I use it almost a year now. Since the first day I use it with Win7 preinstalled original and Skype.
Up to now, I have strength to have one problem with cam or Skype. Everything works fine.

Are you using the original pre-installed OS? Since when you noticed this problem?
You can use cam with other applications?
Cam is listed in Device Manager?
