Satellite C855-1UU close problem, notebook turn on itself

Hi all,

I hope someone can help, I need to know what to do. I bought this laptop C855-1UU Satellite two days ago, and I'm afraid she has certain shortcomings.

Everything works fine, except that I have problem when I power the laptop off. I use Linux OS (tried with Sabayon and now on Manjaro, I wanted to just check is this OS or hardware problem).

It is:
When power off the computer laptop (with icon or via the console command), phone off... then turns stays off for about 5-10 seconds and then switch on by itself without any reason!
I tried to determine what could be the possible reason, and I found that occurs only when the battery charger is connected. Tried it with the battery removed, with loading the BIOS default values, nothing changes... always turn on itself.
When unplug charger laptop battery and try to power off the computer, it works.

Any suggestion, idea or advise what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Okay... found answer is related to Linux, not laptop.

  • Reconnection to Bluetooth on Satellite C855-1WQ speakers problem

    Hello

I had a few Cambridge Audio Minx speaker for Christmas. They connect using Bluetooth for my IPhone and my computer.

However, I can't stay connected to my computer.
When they connect first of all his plays perfectly fine.
When I try to unplug the speakers, or turn them off, or by using the interface Bluetooth, sound is read, as expected, through my laptop speakers.

The problem is when I try to reconnect the speakers by turning on.
The module Bluetooth said there is a connection, but no sound speakers.
Looking at the reading devices of the computer seems to be grateful that the speakers are connected, but there is still no sound.

I can't get her back through the speakers by deleting the Bluetooth Stack for Windows device and forming a new connection each time.

    Is there an easier way?

    Thanks in advance.

    > Module Bluetooth said there is a connection, but no sound out of speakers.

For me, it looks like the output of the playback of sounds has not been transformed to external speakers.
Go to control panel of-> sound-> the Read tab, and then choose the external speakers as the default device.

  • Satellite C855-10Z - keyboard problems

    Hi all

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem with my keyboard? Basically, I've had this laptop since June 2012 and had no problems with it until I started using Word is not long (I am currently in night school).

In fact, when you type a report, it is as if the keyboard has developed a mind of its own.
The laptop will be randomly copy and paste the last words I typed again and again until I have to stop it by pressing ESC. It's very annoying trying to do any form of work.

Also when you open PowerPoint, the other day, there was a very quick beep as if a key is held down - even though I was not touching the keyboard.

I also noticed the same thing in Windows Explorer, where the address bar scrolled endlessly down as if a person is required to tab or clicking on it very quickly.

Strangely, this problem does not occur in any browser. I have spilled something on the laptop because I got it and have not encountered this problem before.

I've been looking around online and there seems to be several theories as to what might cause this problem:

The trackpad is too sensitive - I've since disabled the trackpad and bought a wireless mouse. This problem did not correct the problem.

Windows 7 itself is the question - I doubt that happens only in certain places.

Toshiba have oversubscribed some buttons with additional features and it is confusing - I tried to disable the keyboard, using an external keyboard, but it does not work either.

The keyboard itself could in fact be broken - do not know how to check this, so I will try to eliminate all other options first.

I've been trying to sort out these issues myself I really don't want to be without my laptop for any period of time.

My next steps, not to mention that speaking to Toshiba, will be to install a new copy of vanilla Windows and/or the new update of the BIOS flash.

I'm about to contact Toshiba to ask their opinion but saw the forum and thought I would try it that I could have an answer and it could help someone else with the same question.

Sorry for the long post, but the details thought could help identify the problem.

Thanks for any help in advance!

It's new model of laptop, so in my opinion, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They should check and find solution.
It is good that you want to exchange experiences on the forum, but I think that you should not waste your time and contact Toshiba as soon as possible.

  • Satellite C855-2GX - touchpad is lagging while doing somehting that need RAM

    Hey all :)

    I have a toshiba Satellite C855-2gx
My problems touchpad lag so much if I install a software or I'm doing something which need to ram (games, defragmentation)

There is no solution for my problem please :'(

and sometimes the shift of the pc (keyboard and mouse do not work)

Sometimes, I noticed the same on machines with low performance. It happens when the drive is extremely busy and portable needs performance for some intensive like defragmentation operations or antivirus scan.

What you can do about it? In General, you can improve Ram to increase performance of s for laptop and also you can optimize the preinstalled operating system. With optimize I mean you can disable all unnecessary applications and the boot process for your laptop will take care with less background process.
Also disable the Windows automatic update installation. Use the option check for updates but let me choose...

I think that you need to upgrade RAM. If you need advice or help with this let us know.

  • My Satellite C855-10Z wouldn't turn on

    Hello

I came to the work and my knees don't turn upward. I had left the charger plugged into the wall, but not plugged into the laptop. The laptop ran out of battery during the day because it was not supported. As expected, it won't turn and so I plugged in the charger. A red light nothing happened - flashed temporarily on the laptop when I pressed the button. I tried different Sockets and waited a day, but it still does not work.

What do you think that could be the problem? It's likely the charger or the laptop?

I was looking to buy a replacement AC adapter (input voltage: AC adapter to auto-detection (100/240 V) for worldwide use integer; output voltage: 19 V, output current: 3.42 A) but could not find one online. Some of those recommended for the laptop model I (Toshiba Satellite C855-10Z) or at least that they do not have the same appearance. Those on sale do not seem to have the cable connecting the charger to the socket.

    Thank you very much

    Susan

    Hi Susan
It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Disconnect the power and remove the battery. After doing this press the power for about 20 seconds. Leave the laptop for a while and try to start Notepad using the power supply only.

What happens when you do this?
By the way: is guaranteed still valid?

    I have a Satellite C855 - 2M 1 and installed windows 8.1.

I installed the first upgrade of the video driver from Windows update (WDDM 1.2 02/11/2013 9.12.8.0)
    and it works well.

Lately on windows update has been released a new driver (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Graphics)

I tried to update the driver but when windows restarts it does not load the driver and restore the old.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello
To be honest I m not very well why the autopilot GPU update could not complete successfully, but I guess that the update is not out for the AMD Radeon HD7610M, which is built into the laptop.

I also read a discussion on this issue in the Microsoft forum, and it seems that there are other people having exactly the same problem with this update.

[Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 series update problem | http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/problem-with-graphics-driver-update/a7a6da38-6575-405b-86c2-71a620be06b7]

The question is therefore probably related to wrong or incompatible driver GPU

  • Nothing works without problem on my new Satellite C855-12J

    Hello

A few days ago, I bought (in-store) laptop Toshiba Satellite C855-12J.
    Parameters:
    -Win 7 64 bit,
    -Intel Pentium 2.2 GHz B960,
    -AMD Radeon 7610M 1 GB.
    -4 GB of RAM,
    -500 GB HARD drive,
    -internet 24Mbps (provider: NETIA).
    -McAfee antivirus (license 1 month).

After you have installed all the drivers, programs and updates, I saw one thing: nothing runs smoothly, especially the browsers (Opera, IE). But it's not the worst:

-Games (World of Tanks, League of Legends, CS 1.6, CS: Condition Zero) are late development, but unusual way: there are normal report, stable fps (LoL - 60 frames per second), but suddenly, at random times (more often in teamfights), the game freezes for 1-3 seconds. There are also sound bug in games: even if there is no frost, voice is often trolling ("D-d-d-d-d-doublek-k-k-k-k-kill"). Of course I tried to run all the games in the graphics settings lower.

-The movies I watch is also very bad also. Very often the screen is freezig for 1-3 seconds, but here its lights up normally. It happens more often in the web players, played movies form HARD drive works a little better.

    Now... What I tried to?
-installed Adobe stuff - plugins, Activex, Shockweave,
-installed DirectX 11 and Windows 7 codec pack,
-tried to run games without background processes,
-installed upgrading the BIOS (announced by Toshiba TEMPRO),
-try another internet configuration - WiFi and LAN.

I downloaded the update - DriverMax. It shows a lot to update drivers, while TEMPRO is silent:
    -GPU,
-Synaptics driver SMBus by Synaptics compatible with Intel (r) 7 series/C216 Chipset Family SMBus Host Controller - 1E22,.
-LPC Interface Controller by BYD COMPANY LIMITED compatible with Intel (r) Express Chipset LPC Controller HM76 - 1E59,.
-PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge (filtered Matrox) of Matrox Graphics Inc. compatible with Xeon E3-1200/2nd generation Intel (r) Core Processor Family PCI Express Root Port - 0101.
d ' others for sound, usb ports, etc.
Should I try? I'm afraid, is not sure. I need your advice.

I spend ~ $ 550 on this laptop and I cannot watch movies smoothly or play old and low end games. I know that my hardware is not perfect, but my friends play these games on cell phones really worse and makes me feel angry.

    Waiting for relief,
    OverpoweredCucumber.

    > After you have installed all the drivers, programs and updates, I saw one thing: nothing runs smoothly, especially the browsers (Opera, IE). But it's not the worst:

The books are already pre-installed and configured for the installation of the driver is not necessary

Perhaps this happens because the CPU is much sought and the process of the (game) stucks for a few seconds

    > Should I try? I'm afraid, is not sure. I need your advice.
You must download and install the auditor of latency and LatencyMoon

    What should do?

From my point of few the EPROM module must be re-flashed once more with special BIOS crisis recovery disk.

Usually, this procedure could be done only by authorized service provider available in your country.

But I found an interesting announcement about how to flash the BIOS on U400 series.
See the last post [here: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=62852]

  • Satellite C855 HDD unallocated / PXE - E61 problem

    Hello

I am the owner of a Satellite C855, and it crashed. I opened the laptop and after awhile, he showed me the Toshiba load screen. At first I thought that the operating system has crashed, but I could not re - install it back, there is no boot file.

Now, after Toshiba load screen, I get the following error:
    .....
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

The HARD drive is seen in BIOS. Connected to another computer, also it is recognizable in the BIOS, but it is not shown. There is no more partitions; now, it looks like a HARD drive unallocated. I checked the HARD drive for bad sectors and it doesn't have everything. I tried to recover the information about it but it does not work.

I don't know who are the solutions because I don't want to lose the data I have on the HARD drive.

    TNX

Hmm I m afraid the data is lost.
What you could do is to check if you can access the drive HARD and the data connection of the HARD disk to the USB port using a USB-SATA 2.5 cart.

I'm afraid that this will not help, but a check is worth a try m

If not for the workbook, you must reinstall the system once more because it looks more like the system isn't bootable.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

  • Wireless on Satellite C855 issue

    Hello

I bought new Toshiba Satellite C855-1. but the light for bluetooth is always orange. Means that bluetooth is not functional or something else? I also installed drivers on the computer.

If I use the keys FN + F12 the led turn off, but if I turn it on it is allway orange. Does this mean that it does not work?
Can I send to store, to fix it or what?

    Help please

I ve checked specification for this model of laptop and it was delivered without BONES. I hope that you have installed the OS and all the drivers, tools and utilities correctly.
Do you have problems in general?
In Device Manager all recognized and listed correctly?

Back to your question: the WLAN led is activated when WLAN or BT is in use. I put t know what options are listed when you use FN + F12 but you should be able to use only WLAN, WLAN and BT or disable both devices.

Stack of BT to start you should see also BT icon in the taskbar. It changes color when BT is ON or OFF. Test a little bit to see how it works exactly.

  • Satellite C855 - speakers suddenly stopped working

I have a Satellite C855-1J2 running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium SP1. I turned on December 21, 2012 and installed five applications - the latest versions of Firefox, CeltX, Notepad ++, Open Office and Microsoft Security Essentials (I removed McAfee). I have the latest Windows. Since then I have not installed other applications.

Three days later, my laptop was working fine until, suddenly, that the speakers stopped working. I can identify the specific incident that caused it. I connected a pair of perfectly ordinary headphones using the standard headphone jack, power the laptop off, after that I was done listening but headphones plugged on the left.

When I turned on the laptop back the next day, no sound came in headphones.
When I unplugged them, no sound came from the speakers.
I rebooted my machine and the speakers worked fine.

However, I am now in a situation where whenever I turn on my laptop, the speakers do not work and they will work again when I restart then. A little investigation of this problem shows the following...

Whenever I turn on my laptop and go to control panel-> hardware and sound-> manage Audio devices I see two items:

    (1) ' - high definition Audio Device - speakers not plugged"with a speaker greyed out icon with a red arrow.

    (2) "audio digital (S/PDIF) - high definition Audio Device - default device" with a colored external amplifier icon (it looks a bit like a DVD player) with a green check mark. There is an icon of audio level next to him that shows sound whenever the sound is played on my laptop, but no sound is audible, either through my speakers or headphones.

Whenever I then reboot my laptop and go to control panel-> hardware and sound-> manage Audio devices I can see an article:
"Speakers - Realtek High Definition Audio - Default Device" with a colorful speaker and a green arrow icon. The sound works perfectly well.

I already looked online and the Toshiba forums for a solution to this, but while I found lots of people with similar problems of speaker with Toshiba Satellite laptops, I have not found a solution (and when I say something, I mean something a little more useful that "have you tried completely reinstalling your operating system') so this thread.

Even if a reboot is currently to solve my problem, I obviously shouldn't have to restart my machine at all in order to get something as simple as his, so my questions are:
    (1) what is the cause of this problem - in other words, why what is happening?
    (2) what is the Toshiba solution to this problem?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

It seems to me that the issue you described above that the speakers would not be chosen as device by default, but the Audio Digital (S/PDIF).
Somehow the audio driver cannot detect the first initialization of the system speakers.

I don't know why this happened but I have two proposals:

(* 1) * uninstall the audio driver from the system. Download the driver from his most recent of the Toshiba page and install it after restarting the laptop first.

(* 2) * if installing the audio driver is not enough, the last resort would be the recovery of the system.

(> 2) what is the Toshiba solution to this problem?
If you want to get a recommendation of Toshiba, I would give advice to connect with people. It is the community of users.

I have the same problem :-(

  • Re: Performance very slow Satellite C855-1GN - startup procedure takes 15 min

My sister bought a Satellite C855-1GN installed with Win7 64bits in December (typical - 4 days of warranty now) and for a time found it getting more slower.

She asked me to take a look for her, and she is quite right, that this laptop is appalling insensitive to even the most basic tasks such as opening Windows Explorer, which takes more than a minute to open.

It's a similar story about any button on this machine, sometimes longer depending on what has been clicked. Getting even the startup thing of press office being visible (and even less usable) takes a staggering 15 minutes more.

Text input, such the password of user to connect to Windows, or a URL in any browser (IE and chrome installed by default) causes the circle of rotation equivalent to an hourglass at least 60 seconds before anything happens, as does pretty much any click button. For example, Windows Start button or right click on anything whatsoever.

Initially, I suspected some kind of malware / too much garbage installed. A ran full scans, no problem. Disabled / uninstalled all the bloatware, that I could find, still no difference.
Close all the features, always terribly slow for energy savings.

Windows experience / Task Manager / resmon all report nothing out of the ordinary or anything by eating resources. In desperation, provided Out Of Box Experience with the help of the hidden restore partition... who took more than 24 hours to complete, and is not an exaggeration.

I went to bed, then work during the day, and he had not yet finished until I had been home for a couple of hours.

This machine now has a completely new (although specific Toshiba) install Win7, and runs just as horribly slow. I'm still waiting for the office, 17 minutes after power on before typing this. It took several resets and is yet to install anything.

6 GB of RAM is ample. While not a P3, 5 or 7, there is no way that an Intel B950 double heart clocked to a class, certainly not top than 2.10 GHz can be this slow (that is a few months ago), I had the terrible Celeron in my time, which were infinitely faster than that.

Has anyone else had a performance of same pathos of this model? If so, we are anyone of you is able to solve it? Or should we bin just this paperweight?

    Hello

In the past, we've discussed several times on similar problems, and some people were dissatisfied with the performance of the portable nine pre-installed with original recovery image.
Small example, you can check this thread. In general it is described you can do with this machine. You, I prefer to use the word optimize operating system preinstalled. It will run better and faster.

Otherwise it can also be problem with HARD drive. If your sister love this machine, I recommend a small investment in new hardware. Exchange HARD SSD drive. SSD aren't so cheap anymore so you can buy one, I would say, with 250 GB and I think that there is enough free space for their work.

You can't imagine how fast they are. I use on my old P500. Laptop starts in just 40 seconds.

I m pretty sure with new SSD and optimized original Win7 that you got your sister with this laptop will have a good and pretty fast machine.
