Satellite L - Youtube causes freeze it

My daughter has recently been given to this laptop, and whenever it goes on youtube it freezes. She is having to turn it off manually each time. She used Firefox and Internet Explore. She has re-installed Flash a few times and that seems to make no difference.

She does not return the laptop to Amazon, that she has pictures and documents on this subject. Any advice would be welcome, because none of us are very 'tech' of mind!

Thank you

Have you tried to update the latest version of firefox? Please, do it.

  • Adding RAM causes freeze or blue screen. RAM works well with Win XP

I upgraded from Win XP to Win 7.  I had problems with the installation so I removed all non-essential equipment and was able to complete the installation.  When I add more RAM, I had emoved (two DIMMs of 512 MB) to the current 1 GB DIMM, Win 7 either freezes or I get a blue screen after boot up (it does not boot up to the desktop computer).  Even RAM works very well with my old XP OS (I did a disk clone before moving to Win 7).  The card motherboard BIOS is up to date (according to eSupport) and DIMMs are the same characteristics (a 1 GB DIMM and two 512 MB DIMMS for a total of 2 GB).  Windows 7 works very well with just the 1 GB DIMM in memory 1 of 3 location, but any combination of causes freeze or blue screen.  Is there something on the way Windows 7 manages RAM which is causing the problem?  If so, is there something I can do to solve the problem?

try running Memtest86 +, which runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  • Satellite L300 - charger causing the freezing

I have the Satellite L300 with 64-bit Windows 7 market. Computer works fine without charger. Charger charges the battery ok with the shutdown of the system. Charger charges the battery ok when running in safe mode.
Reinstalled operating system and the updated drivers that may be when the laptop is running on battery power.

If booting with charger plugged will start all the way until the end of the Welcome screen, then freezes. What exactly will change at this stage? Battery is fine until this charger is plugged in and then immediately freezes. Laptop can't or don't run without battery charger - freezes at welcome. Battery charger no problem as long as the same results with the same charger.

Toshiba tech suggested reinstall OS and drivers - DONE - No. difference nothing that changes cannot be made in safe mode or without charger attatched. By reading the forums looking for solutions, I find that many suffer from this problem and no definitive solution coming to hand. Toshiba seems very shy to attack this problem in general and my experience with them on the phone seemed to have my partner ducking and diving.

For me, the question seems to be in the distribution of electricity (hardware or software), but I've reached a point that someone with superior knowledge must take my hand to guide me. If anyone can help.

    Hey Buddy,

I assume you are using an original Toshiba AC/DC adapter, right? Or are you using a 3rd party charger?

I think Toshiba knows only what at this point where the laptop freezes will be available...

You have reinstalled Windows Toshiba Recovery disk or is it your own installation of Windows 7?
If so I would try the Toshiba Recovery disk Windows installation to ensure that the problem is not software or driver related. TOSHIBA recovery disk contains an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools.

This means that if the same error after the installation of recovery it s a hardware malfunction :(

  • Satellite M70 164 - screen freezes and goes black, overheating

    Hello world! :)

Recently my Satellite m70-164 started to freeze after only a few minutes of work. The picture on the screen freezes, and a few seconds later, it becomes completely black.
The computer doesn't even have time to warm up, and it's not stop... It's just the screen that freezes and becomes so black. I have to reset the computer by pressing the power button. (I write from another computer).

I noticed that working time reduced whenever I have reset the computer and after some time it freezes even though I am in the BIOS settings, so I don't think it's an OS problem.
Even if the computer does not have time to warm up, this suggests it might be a heat problem.
So I tried pointing a fan this is low (a big, like the ones we use in the summer), and it works without problem!

With the fan facing these, I reinstalled Windows - so no Virus.
Laptop fan * not * continue to operate as it is overheating.
The fan runs and it is not clogged as I've cleaned.

So if anyone has the same problem, or ideas, please respond!
    (And sorry for my English)
    Thanks in advance! : D

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with you. In this case, even in the BIOS, that it has nothing to do with Windows or a Virus. In this case, it seems to be a hardware malfunction

But before contacting an authorized service provider to diagnose what part is the cause, clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This should be done from time to time (every 4 months) and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Satellite P500-153 - computer freezes during absence after - min

    Hello

3 months now, I bought a new Satellite P500-153. My problem is that the computer very often been completely freeze after 30 to 60 minutes when I'm not working on it. The only possibility is to press the power button and restart. Last Sunday, it freezes also for the first time, when I'm working on the computer.
    All recommended updates are performed.

    Anyone has the same problem?
Do - does anyone know why or what I can do?

I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks in advance!

    Frank

    Hey mate,

What additional software you have installed?
Have you updated to the drivers and what OS you have installed?

In this case, it's really hard to say what is the cause, so you should test with factory settings and see what happens.

  • Satellite A300-1GC random freeze

    Hello

my laptop (Satellite A300-1GC) worked very well for many years. But then last year he startet freeze randomly.

What I mean with gel: I can't do anything, the mouse and the button are not, nothing on the screen moves (stop animations etc.). The only way to restart the computer is pressing the power on button for a few seconds.

First of all I thought to a software problem, perhaps caused by an update windows (windows 7 Professional).

The problem appeared different situations (programming, surfing the web,...), but often directly after starting the computer. Sometimes even in the login screen. I disabled all the startup process automatic antivirus, software, etc., but the problem remains.

I never had the problem in safe mode (don't know if that's the correct word, in German, it is 'abgesicherter Modus'), but I don't use it very much, as a test.

Then I installed linux mint on a separate partition. At first glance, it seems that the problem does not occur there. But after a few days: same problem. Random freezes, often after the start, but also at any time thereafter.

I have not found any information related to the problem in the newspapers, in windows or Linux.

So now I think it's a hardware problem, as it took place in windows (even at the login screen) and linux.
I checked the disc with windows chkdisk and memory with memtest86 +. No error was found.

You have an idea, what could be the reason for the gel? You need more info?

    Thank you very much

Laptop could start freeze due to a higher internal temperature.
After a long period of use fans and the vents may be blocked by dust.
Dust prevents the fan is working properly and therefore the temperature could increase that may affect the functionality of the laptop.

Try to clean the grates and remove the dust using a jet of compressed air.
It is perhaps the best way to get rid of dust

Another reason for this gel could be the memory problem
It seems that you have already checked the laptop for the problems of RAM running the memtest86 + but even if this tool has said there is no problem of RAM, memory dysfunction might be possible. Of course it's only suggestion

I think that you don't have a choice but to check each possibility: new installation of the OS, fan cleaning, maybe new HARD drive?

    Everything is possible

  • Satellite A660 - 10 X - freezes several times

    Hello

A few months ago I bought the Satellite A660-10 x. On installed original system it freezes once (I used laptop maybe an hour) but I thought it was an accident, or maybe something was misconfigured. Then I installed the clear disk from Microsoft (Windows 7 Home Premium) system and install only the necessary drivers, but the problem from happening again. At first I thought as this only, when I don't click or move the mouse for over 1 minute, but that for now the problem appears also when I click or write something. I very rarely use this laptop, but as you can imagine it is very annoying and it is that I can not trust this laptop computer and the data on it. Maybe you know what are the causes of the problem or maybe some new drivers have been released to remove this problem?

I read that not only I have the same problem.

    Best regards

    Hello

You are using the latest driver for the Toshiba page graphics card?
    Please do
In addition new BIOS version just came out too much it is s BIOS update!

In addition, you can run some RAM tests using the free tools like memtest86 + or similar.

  • Satellite M70-169: screen freezes and meshes + mouse freezes

    Hello
Hope you can help. So far, I'm impressed by my toshiba satellite m70-169.

He has recently developed an intermittent fault: when the tilt of the screen the effect of light mesh on it and the screen freezes. The mouse also hangs at this point.

If I tilt the screen one way or the other I can get it to work properly. A slighy inclination of the screen can cause the screen to freeze again. The problem is getting worse, however.

The machine has never been dropped or struck, but was taken by one of the screen when it is open.

I disassembled the strainer and push gently on various points and cables but nothing in this area suggests a loose connection or a weak point. So I believe the problem is in the essence. I tried to open this up but it fails because I didn't force anything.

Question 1: any suggestions on the problem and possible solutions?
Question 2: advice like how to open the main part, so I can check any loose cables, connectors or broken bones?
    Question 3: patterns for disassembly?

Even once - I hope you can help - thanks in advance...

    John

    Hi John

The above user is right. It s too risky to disassemble the laptop without having any experience with laptops.
It is why I always recommend taking to a technician.

But if you want, you can have a look here:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM55/laptop_LCD_screen_removal.htm

It s a site on satellite M55 and withdrawal screen.
But once again; You can do everything BUT only at your own risk! ;)

  • Satellite P100-202 - screen freezes

Hi, first I would like to say that I think that it is a recurring problem of Toshiba, because I have a friend who has exactly the same thing happens to the Toshiba PC. Here's how it goes:

While working on the laptop / PC, all of a sudden the screen will freeze, although everything that happens again and first if I wavered the screen a bit it would start working again. Sometimes, it was necessary to apply pressure to the center of the screen for this suddenly. Now he's got one so bad that I have to constantly put pressure on the upper left of the screen so that it can continue to operate (exactly the same on my friend's PC).

I feel that soon even that won't work. If I leave the screen when it freezes, it fog slowly and finally grey with some colored vertical lines. Yet once, it snaps back immediately when I press top left corner of the screen (I have to continue to support on in the contrary case, it freezes again). No one knows what causes this common malfunction of Toshiba and how to fix it?

I would be grateful responses until my laptop works most completely! '~'

    Hi trrttrry,

This question really strange s but I never read this topic on Satellite P100 here in the forum so I think that s an individual case.

Regarding your description, it could be loose cable connection or display malfunction itself. You tried an external monitor?

In my opinion you should ask a technician for laptop help. They can check the cable connection and order a new one if it of really necessary.

  • Satellite L30 (PSL33E) - sometimes freezes

    Hello

I'm in big trouble with Windows XP pro SP3 & my Satellite l30 (psl33e).

I removed vista to install Windows XP with an original CD of XP SP3. So I formatted hard drive and begin the typical installation. Problems start when installing: the computer crashes sometimes, something like 10-20 min. Finally install completes, but computer is still really slow.

I have installed all the drivers from the Toshiba site, restart the computer between each installation. The restart time is like 10 min and sometimes driver install hangs also. After 3 hours, I was able to connect to the internet, so I've spent on the Windows Update site; Here, I've installed all the updates, but I still had the same problem, sometimes computer freezes for 10 to 30 minutes. When the computer crashes, you will see the hard drive light.

When I start Windows boot time is long enough for a new installation, something like 5 min. The sound icon appears 15 minutes after office expenses with the LAN & wan icons minimum 30 min after. Network works well as soon the configfree icon appear (and therefore of office). I can't run HWsetup, but PC diagnostic tools don't report made by any problem with the hardware.

I tried to check the drivers with a pilot online checking tool (ma - config.com), they were all aware, idon't have a problem in the hardware Manager. Windows is up to date.

I checked memory with memtest, still no problem. I have updated BIOS, no change. My hard drive has been freshly fully formatted, so I don't think that's the problem. I even tried to reinstall Windows, still the same problem during installation and after. the original CD, I used to install Windows is not clean, no scratches and works perfectly on my other computers.

I did not have this problem with Vista, but I really do not want to use, 1 GB of memory is too low. Everything is good, drivers, Windows, programs, hardware, but computer still hangs when it wants to.

So I absolutely do not know what to do, I'm looking on google for 2 days without response. I think it's a cause of problem of Windows questions begin during installation.

I would really apreciate help someone. Thanks in advance & sorry for my bad English,

    Pedro

    Hey Buddy,

    > I think it's a cause of problem of Windows questions begin during installation.
Why do you think that? In my opinion, if this problem starts when installing has nothing to do with Windows because it s not completely installed then why Windows should ask this question?

I think it s a bad hardware work if you already checked the memory with Memtest so I think that the RAM should be ok.

From my own experience, I recommend to check the HARD drive for bad sectors using Drive Fitness Test or another HARD drive diagnostic tool.
I had a similar problem a few years back that the boot system has been very slow and the reason was a bad sector. So I checked the disk with Drive Fitness Test that shows the bad sector. Now, I have replaced the HARD drive, installed Windows again and everything worked again properly! :)

  • Satellite Pro R850-15F - freezing randomly and the fan speeds up

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro R850-15F who gave me four years in refurbished condition and so it is quite old.
I have recently installed Windows 10 and things seemed to work very well.

However, last week, I noticed that at least once a day my laptop freezes randomly and immediately the internal fan accelerates, becomes much stronger and a cold air. Whenever this happens, I turned off the laptop and turn it back on it.

After that, it works normally again until the next time it freezes. I don't know anything about computer hardware, but I suspect that it is a problem of series and I wanted to get some advice in case my laptop is close to dying.

If anyone has any help or advice or suggestions to solve the problem, then I would be extremely grateful if you would contact me.

Hope to hear from someone soon,

    Flashback

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. To me, it looks like problem with some background process that as a result of extremely high CPU usage that locks the phone whole.
High CPU usage means more heat in such situation the fan starts to run a lot faster.

Have you noticed this behavior with a specific action or the use of certain applications?

  • Satellite Pro A300 random freezes

I had this problem for the last few weeks.

Started during the game Football Manager 2011 and Windows Media Player in the background.
Blue screen crash is came and never recovered from that, so I have it restored to its original condition and installed all the windows updates which have been important etc.

Since then he has worked from time to time but always randomly freezes when I can move the mouse and but nothing responds.
Did all error checks and scans and nothing does not appear.

Just as my memory is now 871MB
Would this problem solved by upgrading the RAM?
    Or is there another problem?

    Any help is the verywelcome

    Thank you
    MIC

    > Would be solved this problem by upgrading the RAM?
Don t that s so many laptop OS freezes for different reasons
    -RAM issues
    -Questions BONE (graft)
    -Problems commutabilite between software
-Serious problems of hardware (motherboard, etc.)
    -High temperature

So, as you see it s hard to say what could cause this
First of all I recommend to reinstall the operating system and clean the modules of cooling using a jet of compressed air, this will remove dust COO vents that may prevent air circulation. This can cause a temperature more high which could affect the functionality of the laptop.

    Help...

I have a Satellite A500. It keeps freezing.

Sometimes it will boot when turned on, but then as soon as I select a program to open, it freezes.
I can't do anything. I can't control alt delete to open the Task Manager. The only thing I can do is to turn off the power.
So when I turn it back on, it asks me to start in safe mode, I say yes, but the same thing happens.

Sometimes it starts and you can go in outlook and check a few emails and I think it works fine, then it stops and says not responding do not. Then I go to Explorer and the same thing happens.
I have try the Task Manager, but it will not come to the top.
