  I have a Toshiba A60-122 PSA60E model. Pentium 4 HT. 1 GB of memory, 80 GB hard drive. BIOS 1.7.

  Do you have these lines of the screen on an external monitor too or only on the screen LCD internal?
  It sounds like a hardware problem, but if you can determine if it s a LCD or motherboard problem. Check it!

  And by the way, what do you mean if you say that it doesn't work? You can see something on the screen and you get a BSOD?

  Maybe the problem is with the motherboard or HARD drive. You can test the HARD drive by using the Drive Fitness Test (Google is your friend).

  When did you notice this problem? If this is a recent problem, follow the steps in this document to restore your computer to an earlier point.

If the screen is back to normal in safe mode, it lets us know that the issue is not the base drivers. We can then pass from the computer in a clean boot State.   I have a Satellite P100 and randomly, the screen goes black but the system continues to operate. I downloaded the latest drivers from toshiba, all power options the maximum support, run ccleaner and driver Sweeper to remove the old entries driver, re-installed the login screen of the mobo and nothing seems to work.

  The screen goes black sometimes when using windows but STILL turns black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.

  Theoretically, it could be an overheating problem too. Higher time can also cause a black screen. You should try everything that is possible to clean your laptop using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

  I have recorded similar problems on different series notebook running Vista. It s no matter what series it is.
  I'm sure that it s a Vista problem and should be solved with the new SP1 version.
  But note; the SP1 is not published official and I would recommend waiting until a final version has been released.
  I read that the beta SP1 makes certain disorders and is not fully compatible with some drivers.

  For me, it looks like a bad connection somewhere between the screen and the motherboard.
  This could be possible reason for failure to display while sliding in and out.
