I have updated the bios to version 1.70 (drawn from the toshiba site). Devices audio conexant could not be recognized, and if I run the installation of the latest audio drivers (sound-20080604145033), it fixes the problem, but when you restart the system and login as administrator I get a blue screen. Any help pls?

3. when the system starts up, I get an error 0 x 57 for toshiba power saver. Even when I reinstalled ver 7.03.02.I from toshiba Web site the problem remains.

Thanks in advance
Maxco

Hi maxco,.

About its pilot I n don't know why you're getting a blue screen with the latest version, but I advise to use the preinstalled version of Toshiba recovery disc. So try a point-to-point previous system restore.

Driver LAN and Toshiba Power Saver, you can download from the official site. Relocation of these tools should work!

  • Satellite L20-101 - very low sound

    Hello

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L20-101, Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Yesterday, the sound of my laptop started to play very very low.

Drivers audio (conexant AC-link audio) seems to work fine, and I'm all set to maximum volume.
It was sudden. One moment he was working well, and the next time I start it the sound was strangely low.

I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or if she could we have resolved to restore the entire system with the recovery CD (I prefer not to do so).

    Any ideas? Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you should check the sound volume using the headphones.
If the headphones work correctly the problem might be related to internal speakers.

But to be honest it is really not easy to say what causes this problem as I said can be faulty speaker but you should also check all possible settings and perhaps a new OS reinstall would also be a good idea.

It would be useful to know if the sound issue would persist using the laptop with clean, factory setting.

  • On firefox memory leaks cause blue screens?

On firefox memory leaks cause blue screens?

If you encounter blue screen crashes, this majority refers often to an incompatibility with a device driver, especially the graphics drivers. Go to Firefox Safe Mode and disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics.

    Assuming that Firefox is closed:

Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox. You should get a small dialog box. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

(If Firefox is running, use Help > restart with disabled modules to call the dialog box.)

In Firefox, open the Options of the Advanced tab dialog box:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

This will take effect after you exit Firefox and start it up again (in normal mode).

  • Blue Screen Driver IRQL blue screen of death Windows 7 Ultimate edition and Windows Vista

original title: BSOD Driver IRQL blue screen of death Windows 7 ultimate and Windows Vista

I get the BSOD, and they are different every time.

I had originally Windows Vista on my pc (HP m8300f) and it worked fine for 3 years until last month, I started to have these BSOD.

So I thought a new clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate would solve the problem. Well, I was very happy to get the new operating system installed, but a few hours later that darn BSOD appeared and im now distraught.

What is my RAM? My drivers? My hard drives?

Computer IM but I'm certainly some type of technology. I have basic computer knowledge and that's all.

You can download minidump files and find the information system here in this zip file http://www.sendspace.com/file/mfx420

This issue is very very irritating and has ruined a lot of my work.

Well up to now (18 hours) my computer has not had the BSOD and what I did is that I removed 1 GB of ram for my motherboard. Their were two sticks of 512 MB. I took them both. Now, I have 2 GB of ram running in my system and had not had a BSOD or an error after you have done this.

What is the problem with my ram? I now have 2 sticks of RAM on my motherboard and both are 1 GB each stick. What is the mix n match that causes a problem all of a sudden? My computer came with this stock of installation. I also noticed the ram I got were the brand Samsung and the other on my motherboard are another brand.

Well idk I hope it was my problem. We'll see.

  • Satellite L20-101: I think as 667 Mhz module runs only with 266 Mhz

    Hello

    I bought 2 x 1024Mo DDR2-RAM for my L20-101.
First I tried 533 MHz, but the laptop does not work with them, so I bought the
    Version of 667 MHz.
CPU - Z says that the FSB:DRAM - ratio is 1:2 If the two are in fact run with just 266 MHz.

I've updated the BIOS with the latest version of the Toshiba-home page, but nothing has changed.

    So finally, my questions:
1 perhaps CPU - Z is false (I don't think so...), are there any other good programms to check the parameters of memory?

    2. If the values in the program are correct: where can I change the value of the report? Is it possible to see more than a few settings in the BIOS or is it a rider?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

First of all it is important to mention that the Satellite L20-101 supports a FSB of 533 MHz.
    So the DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25) and DDR2 400/533 memory modules 512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51) should work and are 100% compatible!

If you use the module of 667 Mhz, it runs only at 533 Mhz due to the limitation of the front side bus.

In addition, I think you have misunderstood something.
Here are the modules DD2 and so the CPU - Z recognizes the speed of the modules as 266 MHz (2 x 266 = 532 Mhz)
If everything seems to be ok!

PS; You can also use the other tool called Everest home edition. It s a freeware and very useful to run a diagnosis system and equipment

  • Satellite L20-101: Question about memory PC2-4300 and PC2-4200 of mixture

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L20-101. He took 512 MB RAM (PC2-4300). Today, I added another module of RAM but this new module is PC2-4200. Is there something wrong with that? The two modules are DDR2 and 533 MHz and 512 MB.

    Hi Pawel,

In principle, there is no problem with the mixture of slightly different types of RAM modules, but normally the total RAM will run at the speed of the slowest module. When your notebook detects the right amount of RAM from two sticks then it don't will don't... no problem.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question on battery & BIOS password

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite L20-101, so can u please answer my questions below.

Is it better for the battery life to always stay connected to an electrical outlet when possible, or charge the battery and then use it until it needs to be recharged again? I mean what is best for the life of the battery, and I need to know if stay connected to AC power affects the battery life.

How can I set a password for the laptop not windows? Because when I enter BIOS setup and set a password for user and supervisor. He just ask me about this password when I try to login to Setup again, but it is still continuous to the windows boot without asking me about a password.

    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge/discharge the battery about 500 times.
After this period, the battery will lose performance.
More recent laptops and batteries use the latest technology of load.
But I recommend to remove the battery, if you work on the DC for a long time.
In this case, you can extend the life of the battery and the performance

If you want to set the BIOS password and it should appear at the beginning, you must activate the password at startup option in the BIOS.

    Hello

The blue screen of death is usually due to a software problem or malfunction of the equipment. In your case, I recommend reinstall the graphics driver.
See the page of the Toshiba driver for updates.
If it doesn t help and the blue screen appears again and it would be very interesting to know the details of the blue screen, for example stop: xxxxxx

OFFTOPIC: Why standart drivers from ati.com to display does not work? (while on my laptop of friends with also hd2600 mobilty radeon works fine).

    > I've got Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600. I downgraded to XP SP2. I get a blue screen saying that ati2dvag went infitive enough loop constantly. Any solution to this?

The BSOD appears usually due to software malfunction serious matter or material.
I think it s a software problem (driver).

I presume that the BSOD appears why play games in most of the cases the graphics driver must be updated.
If the XP driver from the Toshiba page will not help, you can try the graphics drivers on the www.omegadrivers.net site. 3rd third party drivers must run on your laptop. But note; 3 third-party drivers can be used only at your own risk!

    > Why standard ati.com display drivers do not work? (While on my laptop of friends with also hd2600 mobility radeon works fine).
Cannot install the original ATI drivers on an easy path because this drivers don t support protection against overheating. Toshiba GPU drivers are slightly modified and support a protection against overheating. This protection is necessary and important as mobile graphics cards do not have large module of cooling as the GPU on to desktop computers.
Temperature increases on the much faster laptops and so the driver graphic control performance of the GPU to reduce the internal temperature.

That's why it of always advised and recommended to use the Toshiba drivers ;)

  • To the Satellite 2450-101 DVD drive failure

    Hi guys again...

I have another problem with my old laptop Toshiba Satellite 2450-101 which I hope you can help me with.
The original DVD-rom drive - a Teac DW - 224th - went "off the radar" a couple of times a year and only re - appear in my computer after a re-boot, but he then quickly disappear again.

It is curious that the drive is still listed in device as Manager works correctly.
Would have to be a complete reinstallation to get it back again when the process would start over.

Now during the boot process, a message appears at the top of the screen saying "error Eide...
I bought a new replacement brown-box DVD - RW double layer drive PC World - a Sony IA2604H - and has installed but it's exactly the same thing but this time she is mentioned in as a 'CD-rom SCSI device' Device Manager... which is certainly not.
In both cases, readers are completely dead and does not eject even trays.
Needless to say, it's driving me crazy.

    Can you suggest anything?
    Thank you once again...
    JB

You can boot from the bootable CD?

If so, then try to remove the upperfilters and lowerfilters:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?ID=314060

If you cannot start from the CD, then either:

    (1) the ODD or another component of the motherboard connector is defective / in bulk.
    (2) the original Teac ODD is defective, and the new Sony is not compatible (has the wrong master/slave settings)
