Satellite L20E - external numeric keypad USB problem

Hello

I have problem with my Satellite L20E - when I connect external USB numpad, it interferes with the keyboard of the computer.
I would like to work independentaly (i.e. ' J' on my regular keyboard as a 'J' and '1' on my keypad external as '1'), but when I turn the keypad numlock, it also enables the numeric keypad of the keyboard regular (i.e. when I press the 'J', it returns the value '1') - on my previous Satellite 1410-903, this has worked.
This bug really bothers me, because I need to enter large amounts of numbers.

Thanks for any advice.

Hello

Believe it s not a little money. Please try to activate the function with the FN + F11 key combination. This function turns on and the small gray signs to your keyboard. Well, also check the function FN + F10

Please also check the chapter 5 of the user manual. You will find lots of information on the keyboard

  • Satellite M30X-159 - laptop crashes + USB problem

I bought my M30X in February, in April, all 3 USB ports failed. I tried to install the update to the Bios, reformatted nothing doesn't. In may, the motherboard has been replaced. Yesterday, I used a memory stick once again, and while the two USB ports worked properly, the laptop began to hang after that I joined the memory stick on the side right port USB - no icons on the desktop more, impossible to close, so I used a hard reset. The memory stick does not cause any problems on other machines.

I want to know is whether this incident is a source of concern and if I should replace this machine by one another, more reliable that doesn't let me down while I'm away from home and my office?

    Hello

You should try to connect USB devices with an external power USB Hub, because some devices (also a small USB key) is in need of a little tension. Maybe your M30X electronic feeding is broken, so there is not enough voltage to detect your USB device!

  • With the help of an external numeric keypad with L10

How is it possible without using the FN + F10 key. Tecra a2 has a setting to Toshiba hardware level to activate an external keyboard how to get this model doesn t?

    Hello

Sorry, but I don t know what you mean exactly. The combination FN + F10key enable the use of the symbols of hail (gray color). If you want to use the external keyboard just connect and install the driver if necessary.

As you all know Toshiba laptops don't have the same preinstalled software (like HWsetup). This kind of software is preinstalled on the class divisions which are dockable like Tecra, Portégé or same Satellite Pro. L10 is not business class, and I assume that this is the reason why this option is not available.

  • Satellite U405 - external USB number pad issue

    Hello.

I bought an external USB Numpad in my Satellite U405. The problem is that when I turn on the NUM LOCK key in the keypad external operates in the laptop too, when I type U I O J K L, for example, I get 4 5 6 1 2 3. I got the combination, I need to press FN + F10, new FN + F10, then NUM LOCK in the external numeric keypad, and I normally use the keys U, I O J K l I tested in some laptops and I have this problem, it's just with the Satellite U405. Every time when I start Windows I do the combination to get things work until the next start/stop.

I really need help, I tried many things, except the BIOS update, that I will use for the last shot.

Sorry English and hope, I left things understandable.

    Thank you.

    Hello

So if you didn't try the BISO update, then try him
I don't know if a BIOS update is going to change anything in the external USB numpad but it s worth a try m

  • Cannot use the numeric keypad codes alt with usb keyboard.

I just bought a bow of Microsoft keyboard for use with my Vista system. As I am a programmer and the keyboard is missing a number pad (which I use frequently for the entry of characters alt-code), I bought a USB keyboard separated (from Targus - model AKP10CA) mainly to enter alt character codes

To my dismay, the alt codes don't work! I checked the keycodes that sends the keyboard with a keylogger, and they are the correct numeric keypad keys. So my question is why these don't work with my Microsoft Arc keyboard alt key, and what I can do about it?

    Thank you.

Well, at least we have excluded the keyboard as the problem - I don't really think it was but it was worth checking out.

I don't know (I don't use keyboard shortcuts), but have you tried turning on the number lock on your keyboard and using the numbers on the different keys on the keyboard that are used instead of a numeric keypad when you don't have available?  I don't mean the numbers at the top (I know that they do not work) but if you set the keyboard for some keys work as a numeric keypad, and then perhaps shortcuts using these buttons by activating the NunLock will work as expected.  Always turning on one off the NumLock sort of defeats, the goal to make shorter (but it can work entirely from the keyboard that was your question).

I do not think it is possible to get this work because the keyboard and the numeric keypad USB are separate devices and do not speak to one another - can 'see' what is happening on the other device and there is therefore no way to make them work in oncert.  The system does not recognize that the two entries are supposed to actually a single action and I don't know any way to tell the system how to do if it is possible at all (even with a registry change).  I have no idea where to start comiing even upward with a workaround.  I think you just need to live with the fact that you can not use the devices together to issue commands.  Maybe you can change some of the most frequently used shortcuts involving the keypad for a different shortcut, not requiring that the keyboard - shortcuts can be re-scheduled (and if you can not re - schedule a current shortccut you ccan still create a new shortcut using only the keyboard, which performs the same function).

I'm sorry, there is no real solution to your problem, but it's the way Vista works and we just have to live with it, the better we can.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • Configuration of USB 2 external 500 GB USB hard drive problems

    Hello gentlemen.

    I recently acquired a disk hard external 500 GB USB part number PX1269E - 1 50.
I have some problems with the configuration of USB 2.0 in windows XP. When I connect it to a usb 2.0 port, I get the message "USB HDD high speed plugged into a hub non-hi-speed usb", and the unit remains low-speed (12 Mbps) USB. (I checked the port with an another usb 2.0 device and the port works correctly in usb 2.0 mode).
I checked the PXI1269E - 1 50 in other PCs and I have same results. I can't make it work in USB 2.0 mode. I also have some problems with the virtual CD that is always present when you insert and mount partition. There is a way to remove it?

I only use the hard drive for data backup every day, and I don't want to use any other drive letters in my system.

The main PC is an ASUS P4P800-E deluxe with windows XP SP2 fully implemented to update and build in the USB 2.0 controller intel.

    Best regards

    DA P

I have connected the 500 GB HDD (PX1269E - 1 50) to my Satellite M40 and it works fine. It works with USB 2.0.
Guys, I think there is something wrong with the controller software or the registry is damaged. Maybe an update is necessary.

PS: I have not installed the additional software on the supplied CD. The operating system automatically acknowledged.

@parabolix: using SP1. Try to install whole MS and SP2 updates.

  • Satellite P500 - after update BIOS on the numeric keypad does not work anymore

I just had a Satellite P500 and am running Windows 7. I downloaded all the latest drivers and updated the system BIOS to version 1.70 (from Toshiba support website). Now, my numeric keypad of the keyboard does not work.

The NumLock light is on and when I hit the key "6" on the pavement, he turns the power light, but the behavior of the other keys does not change that it is on or off. The '-' key to enter a '6', but none of the other keys (except "enter" does nothing.

I removed the keyboard driver and rebooted to reinstall the keyboard driver, but has no effect. The keyboard has worked for a few days after that I flashed the bios but seems to have stopped since I started using a USB mouse. I tried to uninstall the USB mouse driver, but who have nothing do either (it was a Logitech driver).

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

    > I did not upgrade bios 1.7
Maybe you should try upgrading the BIOS
As another user has suggested upgrading the BIOS 1.7 helped, even if the end user has updated the BIOS twice

  • Satellite M60-164, sticking the numeric keypad

    Hello

I wonder if anyone has experienced any sticky keys on the numeric keypad. I mean only to feel the resistance when you press the keys and they take the time to return to its normal position.
No.... One looks like it might be food or drink has fallen on the pavement, but it is not the case.

    Thank you

    Nope.
Given two M60-159 units, keyboard was replaced due to sensitivity of the keyboard problem (some characters are usually missing in the text...), none of the keys to self-retaining noticed on any of four keyboards. Replacement keyboards (revision 01) had a little different twist, but were not much better.
Also saw two P100-219 units with a similar keyboard, no sticky keys is (keyboard sensitivity OK but not excellent as more old 3000 Toshiba).

Question (please do not answer, I would really like to know): how is the sensitivity of your keyboard? Leave the characters when the quick entry?
You may require a guarantee of replacement keyboard for this reason. Or better yet a replacement laptop, if all goes well they're out of M60s and you can get a P100... Personally, I do not change the computers because it takes too long, I just want them to fix the keyboard, but they seem to have given up (I even sent them keyboard replacement for analysis).

    Hello

    > Is the processor good on this machine, I mean like a Core 2 Duo

The CPU is not better than Core 2 Due because he s successor to core Duo.
Intel Core Duo processor T2400 1.83 GHz Yonah works on this laptop.
You can check the detailed specifications of this CPU Intel page.

In addition the unit supports audio chip type high-definition Intel Conexant CX20551-22.
I put t know what you mean by HD video.
Do you mean the HD player? The portable player is a simple DVD Super Multi drive (+/-R Double Layer) and it does not play any DVD HD

  • the numeric keypad keys do not work

    A little different problem here:

Just bought my dv7-1030eb. On this keyboard is QWERTY Belgium (well, i live in Belgium, so it's OK)

Unfortunately, the numeric keypad keys work except for the top 4 (home, end, pgup and pgdn).

Result: I can not activate Numlock.

Trying to connect an external keyboard and activate Numlock.

On the external keyboard, everything works as expected.

On the keyboard internal, still no light locking num (below altec lansing logo), and yet only four albums keys (home, end, pgup and pgdn) operational.

It is also a diagnostic message?

A reply to a message on the page, message 4 @BernsBelgium

It is a problem, that I was just trying to solve on a dv7-1002.

I found that the solution has been updated of the bios.

I was on a version very early and found that I had to do incremental updates. From the one after the current bios, if you try to jump the updates, it fails to the version checks and gives an error "is not any ROM file in this directory"".»

Keys num started working after about five updates and continued to work for the rest. I had to do about 10 updates to get the current bios. The keys are now working very well.

    Hope this helps someone else.
