Satellite L30-105 with Vista: WinDVD & WMPlayer don't play DVD

I have a new Satellite L30. When I try to play the DVD, I get the following error messages:

WINDVD says "your display environment does not support protected content.

Windows Media Player says "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card.

I'm new on Vista so struggling a little to find a way to address this issue. Surely I don't need to download the new decoders/drivers on a new machine - literally right out of the box? Any suggestions?

Can I ask you what kind of DVD did you play?
The L30 doesn't support HD-DVD or Blue ray!

Use the common original DVD

    Hello

I was burning and watch DVDs on my Satellite A200 - 1 VP, with vista, since February, the last time I burned anything was a couple of weeks.

Suddenly, there is a problem, no response when I insert a disc and my divx player says me no recorder found.

When I am looking in the Device Manager I get the message 'windows cannot load the driver for this hardware' (code 39) "driver is damaged or missing.

I tried to uninstall it and using the limit filter upper/lower of Toshiba, repair tool but on restart it still cannot install.

Should I try the Toshiba Recovery Disc and lose a lot of that programs/files, as a last resort?
    Would this work?
    Anyone have any ideas?

Here's an interesting article from Microsoft Knowledge:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

You must first access the Device Manager and should remove the reader of CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Then should access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and check if the CD/DVD drive would work again!

  • Re: Need Satellite L30 - 105 Vista - power calibration error - new firmware

    Hey guys =)

Ive got a Satellite L30-105 running a Vista 32 bit. And even if I try several different (Imageburn, Nero) burning software, and with the TDK - CD, I get an error in the burning software, saying "power calibration error".

    Satellite L30 - 105 (item number PSL33E-02S026N5), use a cd/dvd burner called MAST * a DVD-RAM UJ-850 s

I wonder, can I download and install new drivers for my dvd player?

I will also try to buy this "cleaning-cd", to try to clean the lens. cause I bought the laptop in 2007... then her grandmother as...

But you guys don't have any what could be bad? Is it expensive to get a new cd/dvd drive for this laptop?

    Bravo and thank you!

    Hello

Power calibration error means that the laser ODD lens cannot calibrate in the right position.
Generally this has nothing to do with a firmware of drive but with the problem of equipment.

In most cases, the CD/DVD drive must be replaced.

I'm not sure how a new CD/DVD drive could be but the fact is that you cannot use any CD/DVD drive
You need a compatible and such disc compatible and taken in charge could be ordered in a local ASP.

  • Satellite L30-105 will not boot after memory expansion

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L30-105, with 1 GB of memory (2 X 512 MB modules).
I bought 2 X 1 GB-compatible modules to extend the memory to its max.

When I install the two new modules the laptop won't boot. I tried to install one at the time and both work individually. I also tried 1 X 512 MB
and 1 X 1 GB, which also worked.

Help I have updated the bios but still can not computing for work with 2 GB of memory?

    Thank you
    Rebmark

I am also interested what compatible modules you use.

Just FYI: your laptop model can handle with 2 GB RAM and compatible module - 1 GB DDR2-400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G).

  • Satellite L30-105: how to change shared video memory on Vista...

My question is the same as we can read on this url:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20578

But the solution only works with windows xp, anyone know a driver version with which the 'frame buffer' tab is present?
The latest version of the driver is installed on my Satellite L30-105(catalyst 7.6), 128 MB are shared, but 32 will be enough for me.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I think the problem is that Vista graphic driver does not support this option.
The option described in the in the other thread was available in the argument XPOS.

But why would you change? On my L30 128 MB shared memory are activated, but the laptop uses only 64 MB if I put t run all applications performance.
The pilot controls the amount of shared memory automatically.

You can se under control panel-> display-> advanced settings
In the map tab, you can see total graphic memory available (in my case 128 MB) and system memory shared (64 MB)

By the way; I don't think that 32 MB graphics memory may be sufficient if you're running Vista

  • Problems with Benq DC C 700 digital camera on the Satellite L30 105

    Hello

I have problems with my digital camera when I connect it to my laptop. Whenever I connect the camera to the laptop freezes and gives me the blue screen of death, in other words, the screen you get when a fatal error occurs, and then my laptop must be restarted. If this happens whenever I connect the two.

I tried the bios update and install the latest orders, but nothing seemed to work. I contacted the support center in Benq and they told me to contact Toshiba as they are sure that the problem is not with the camera. So please someone, if you have any ideas or suggestions or solutions, I'll be happy to hear.

    Thank you!

    Hello

First of all if you need Toshiba support, you will need to contact Toshiba authorized service partner in your country. This forum here is only a forum for users and you won't find anyone from Toshiba here.

    On the other hand;
It seems that the Satellite L30-105 has been bundled with Vista. Using this operating system on the L30?
I read on many problems with the 3rd devices, software, and Windows Vista.

I put t know what said you, but eventually the software webcam is not 100% compatible with Vista.
You should know that the BSOD appears if there is a serious hardware problem or software. I don t think that this problem was caused by a hardware issue and so there is only one possibility; software compatibility issues.

In case you I would update the Vista of the State and I will ask manufacturing webcam if it s 100% compatible with Vista.

    Good luck

  • Satellite L30-105 Dual Boot with XP Possible

    Hello

I have a Satellite L30-105, and while I do not particularly like Vista, I need to keep it for various reasons. However, I must also now use the laptop with a piece of hardware (a North G2 synthesizer) who does no Vista drivers.

So I think the best thing I can do is to create a dual boot system, but a lot of articles on the net say you need from your CD original Vista, and of course the laptop does not come with one.

So what I want to do possible? And there at - it a guide for how to do this? I have an XP license and the CD that I can use for this.

    Hello

I installed the XP and Vista on my laptop.
It was a little difficult because the XP installation crushed the Vista MBR (master boot record) and the Boot Manager.
But I solved it by using the original CD of Vista. I had to borrow from a friend.

I booted from CD of Vista and it repaired the Vista Boot Manager.
Then I installed the tool called EasyBCD and set up the Vistas Boot Manager.

That helped get XP and Vista on two different partitions.

  • Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) Windows Vista does not see the DVD - ram UJ-850 s

    Hello

I have a Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) with windows Vista. Windows Vista does not recognize the DVD - ram. BIOS recognize DVD-ram. I tried to download the drivers for the DVD-ram, but they are not on the side of Toshiba.

Who can help me to get the right driver or learn more? Problems with the carpet * a DVD-ram uj-850 s ATA device and windows Vista.

    Hello

The CD/DVD drive needs no special drivers!
Vista includes a Microsoft driver that works with all CURIOUS s (CD/DVD drives)

Simply said, the Vista should recognize the drive without any problems.

A few questions; did you get any error messages? What is the status of Device Manager? Do you see yellow exclamation points?

There is an old way to correct a similar drive problem. It worked on XP then try it on Vista OS.
It of necessary to update the registry entry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    1. click on the start menu.
    2. If it is a Vista machine in the search box type regedit without quotes.
    3. look for the registry key mentioned above.
    4. in the right panel you'll see something along the lines of UpperFilter and UpperFilter you want to click on each key filter and tap on delete. Click Yes when asked to confirm if you want to delete the key.
    5. restart Windows.
6 let me know if it works.

  • Memory not correct system on Satellite L30-105

I just purcased a Satellite L30-105. It is supposed to be 1024 MB (1 GB) of Ram installed.
Windows and the BIOS see 894Mb
In the BIOS it reads memory system: 633 MB
    Extended memory: 894 MB

Should he not see the complete 1024Mo?
Can I have a problem with the installed memory?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Hello

    I completely agree with Abe83.
The graphics card shares memory with the main memory of the laptop and the free difference appears so as a memory system.
It s nothing unusual and everything is ok with your laptop! Don t worry buddy ;)

  • Satellite L30-105 does not recognize the 1 GB of additional RAM

Hi there I hope someone can help me

I have a Satellite L30-105 PSL33E, which came with 1 GB of ram installed (2 x 512 MB made by TeamViewer)
and it's terribly slow with vista, not to mention programs.
The toshiba website says max RAM is 2 GB, so I bought a Kingston 1 GB ram chip to increase the ram to 1.5 GB. I thought should try before moving to 2 GB

However after installing memory vivid it's show still only 1 GB in windows and in the bios (894 + the rest for video). It has the latest available BIOS on the site 3.10, yet still does not recognize the chip.

The chip is installed in the lower slot, including the original 512 at the top (closest to the keyboard)

Are limited to only some of the Satellite of RAM?
The old subjects indicate if kingston does not work try corsair.
Other topics suggested to change slots
Others suggest that it may have only two of the same ram chips in IE 2 x 512 or 2 x 1 GB, you may not have 1 of each

Can anyone help? everyone knows about similar problems?

I will not buy any more RAM to try different brands for the same issue to occur

    Hello

The L30-105 is able to manage the 1024Mo modules in each location it should be able to update the RAM up to 2 GB.

    > Why the RAM 1 GB module cannot be recognized?
Perhaps the two modules are not compatible with each other
I would recommend using two identical modules of the same manufacturing
I use Kingston modules, they are ok for me

  • Satellite L30-105: an Intel Pentium Dual Core slogan says, but I have Celeron

    Hello

My machine has an Intel pentium, near the touchpad sticker that says "* Pentium Dual Core inside." But then the information system listed my CPU as * Celeron *...

Have I been duped and is this false advertising?

    Thank you

    Hello

I have goggled a bit and found that this laptop Satellite L30-105 was certainly equipped with the Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPU T2060 1.6 GHz.

I m similar L30 owner as a second notebook and at first start, I noticed that the Device Manager recognized the incorrect CPU.
I've simply removed the entry CPU since the Device Manager and rebooted again the Vista again recognized the CPU and advised the right CPU.

Please check this box. Maybe it helps.

  • Blue screen when you use the CD/DVD on Satellite L30-105 player

I have a Satellite L30-105. Recently when using the CD/DVD drive, it began to crash (blue screen) after playing a DVD-video or a music CD.
Either way, I seem to only get playback of DVD-video and not the main sound track. Does anyone have an idea what may cause these errors.

    Hello

To my knowledge, the blue screen starts if there is a serious software problem or if some of the equipment is malfunctioning.
I put t believe that this blue screen error message can be caused by a defective CD/DVD drive.

Hmm, according to your message and you can not hear the main sound and cannot read music CDs, I think that this problem could be linked to the sound card.

In the first case I recommend updating the audio driver. If this does not help, try to recover the laptop with the supplied recovery CD and check if the same thing always happens on the new BONES recovered. (Don t install any 3rd party application).

    Good luck

  • Satellite P100-160 with Vista: No TV-OUT after downgrade to XP

Hi guys hope you can help me out here...

I recently bought a laptop (satellite p100-160) with Vista on it to know that it was not compatible with wot I bought dethrone so I decided to downgarde for XP Home Edition... Solange decommissioning that I had to install a few drivers like there's do and everything went well...

Anyway, a few weeks later (yesterday), I went to watch a movie and when I pluged in my tv out cable, I have nothing. I tried to unplug and plug in again a few times but still nothing, it normally switches on in about 20 seconds... So im guessing that either I need to a driver or a Summit.

Can someone help me out here?

    Thanks a lot

You n t need a special driver to use the s-video port.
You must install only the compatible graphics driver.

How have you tried to switch to the TV device?
Have you used the FN + F5 key combination?
    You should do this.

Connect the TV to the laptop using the s-video port. Then select the s-video on the TV and choose the right channel.
Press the FN + F5 several times until you get a picture on the TV.

Please note; Don t start the DVD software like DVD win until you have not enabled on TV!

    OK, here is my guide;

Download the graphics driver for your model of laptop.
    Unzip the package.
Access to the Device Manager, then mark the graphics card driver update.
Then a new window will open.
You must use the second advanced option.
Then choose the option called Don t research. I will choose the driver (or something like that)
Point to the place where the driver package was stored on the HARD disk and complete the installation.
