Satellite L30-134 will not accept 2 GB of RAM

I looked at my laptop and it takes a maximum of 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, I tried two different pairs of sticks of 1 GB and the two blue screen that loads the OS.

When the sticks do not go it simply ignores the second run, but I can't seem to accept 2 GB.

BTW I have upgraded to a core duo processor, don't give me no problem.

Known fixes for this problem?

Hello

Your laptop can be upgraded up to 2 GB of RAM. That s is definitely possible!
You can use 2 modules of memory vivid x1024MB.

If you would taka glance at this page, you will find information that you must use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM modules.

[Memory for Toshiba Satellite L30-134 | http://www.orcalogi.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=25737&ft=m&st=3]

I presume that you always get a BSPD because the RAM modules are not fully consistent or simply malfunctioned.

Welcome them

  • Satellite P10 804 will not accept the upgrade of RAM

Apologies, this is it is a bit long and also if this question has been covered elsewhere here: I had a good nose autour and have not found something that seems to help.

In any case, I had a Satellite P10 804 during these past years, I bought in the United Kingdom.

Quite early in my time with this laptop, I upgraded the RAM. It was 3 or 4 years ago, when memory was not as cheap right now, so I bought just a single 1 GB module. P10-804 will take up to 2 GB of RAM.

The P10 804 came with 512 GB as standard in two modules. My upgrade means I got 1.25 GB, which was in very good health. Everything was fine until the end of last year when the defective laptop; I followed the fault in module 1 GB of RAM. It was a bit awkward since I now live in New Zealand. However, the provider of the RAM was very professional, stood by their warranty, and we arranged a swap. RAM prices had fallen, so I bought another module of 1 GB at the same time upgrade the laptop completely.

Now the problems really started. The laptop would not simply work with the new installed RAM modules. It would work with one alone, nor even less with my old configuration of a module of 1 GB and 256 GB module. Start and run for five minutes before a freeze; white screen with fans roar; blue screen; frozen screen normal with strange objects; No start at all. everything.

Everything that works now is my original 256 MB module (his partner disappeared). This leads me to assume that I don't have some sort of hardware failure?

1 GB modules are DDR333 SODIMM, CL2.5. This laptop will also have the DDR266 modules, and it has been suggested to me, lower speed might work. I can try this option since the RAM prices are * really * low now, especially if I get confirmation of this as a valid strategy possible.

The laptop BIOS is updated to v2.00 (maybe?), and I also upgraded the HDD to a 120 GB unit (this works very well and is partitioned for XP and Linux). And from time to time I empty the fan.

Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading.

Reading your message, I came to the conclusion that this issue must be linked to the new RAM module and this module is malfunctioning or is not fully compatible with your laptop.

The P10 can be upgraded to 2 GB, so you should be able to use two single RAM 1 GB modules

So it must be a module problem

  • Satellite P500-1DX will not accept password

    Satellite P500-1DX - Windows 7.
Not connected this morning no problem, return to work will not accept password.
Had not implemented the password reset disk, but have one created from my old laptop which is vista OS.

However, when I enter the P500 it runs the wizard and an error occurs.
The laptop has perfectly to update Norton 360 on it is probably not a virus.

    Hello

What password do you mean exactly?
    BIOS or Windows user password?

If you're talking about BIOS password then I have some bad news for you; You cannot reset a unknown BIOS password. Only a Toshiba ASP technician may remove unknown BIOS password.
But if you talk to windows user password, then you could reset/clear the password by the new installation of the operating system for this you can use a HARD drive recovery option.

PS: I found this article on resetting a password account user in Vista or Windows 7. I did not try it, but some people on the net reported that the account password could be changed successfully

  • Satellite L30-134 does not access BIOS after upgrade with SSD

    Hello

I have a problem with my old Toshiba L30-134.

When I try to replace the old with new SSD HARD drive, I can't start BIOS.
But when I remove the DVD-ROM laptop and leave there only SSD, then BIOS can start and I see the drive detected. DVD - ROM has PATA/IDE interface.

I also tried IDE adapter SATA (like this: [adapter | http://goo.gl/W3TpXt]) for replacement of the DVD-ROM with second SATA HDD and I had the same problem when the disk was present in the adapter.

When the second HARD drive was not present in the adapter, BIOS began. And it's not just about BIOS.

Computer is blocking on startup TOSHIBA logo screen during the hardware detection and there is also no error message.

I can't change the settings on the device SATA IDE/AHCI mode. Is there a workaround with riders or a software solution?

    Thanks for help

    Hello

    > When the second HARD drive was not present in the adapter, BIOS has begun. And it's not just about BIOS.

You replaced the STRANGE with a HARD drive?
It won't work buddy. The s laptop computer's optical disc drive supports IDE controller. The HARD drive seems to support the SATA controller.

The laptop does not power upward because the POST (power on self-test) cannot be passed correctly. During POST the laptop s material will be checked for a possible malfunction or compatibility issues. In your case, the hardware is NOT compatible and that you can't change that.

  • Satellite L30-101 will not boot after memory expansion

    Hello

We have a Toshiba Satellite L30-101 with 512 MB memory

We also bought 2 X 1 GB-compatible modules to extend the memory to its max.

When we installed the two new modules the laptop won't boot.

We tried to install one at the time and both work individually. I also tried 1 X 512 MB
and 1 X 1 GB, which also worked.

It seems that we are not the only one with this problem!

1.5 works much better on le.5 but it doesn't seem to be a shame to have the autres.5 but its unusable!

I think that you have incompatible modules for mode dual channel.
    What RAM do you have?

A module is maybe corrupted and so he doesn t run in mode dual channel.

You can check the module with a program like Memtest86: [www.memtest86.org]

  • Satellite L30: reader will not read CDs or DVDs

In the evening, I was recently testing on various operating systems on my laptop and eventually decided to return to Windows Pro.
It was working fine until a couple of days, but then the hard drive started making a rattling noise, like R/RW head stuck.

Now it will not read CDs or DVDs, can someone please help and tell me if it's a failure of the software or hardware, and the best way to fix it?

    Hello

The drive problems are not uncommon and may still occur.
For the most part the purpose of calibration training does not work correctly.
The objective must be calibrated in the correct position until the player will read or write to the media.
This fault is not reperable and especially the drive needs to be replaced!

This means that you install RAM modules while the laptop is running?
I m wondering your laptop still works. Normally, you could destroy the whole motherboard and the module.

Anyway, to me it sounds like that your laptop isn't compatible with the memory modules vive. What modules do you have exactly?
I have good experiences with the Kingston modules.

  • Satellite L30 10Y does not start with the new RAM modules

    Hello
regged just with this forum I have a problem to upgrade memory.

I read through a few problems of memory here and all users that it is a problem of memory comaptible. I got Hynix 512 MB RAM in my laptop and I bought 2 x 1 GB memory Hynix these two are match sticks to the installed memory, but when I installed my laptop wouldn't boot at all. It would only boot if I had a stick in both.

I tried to switch ports top and btm and even when a stick was installed it says in XP, Vista and Windows 7 (yes I tried all systems) 896 MB of available space. I even tried to use my other Hynix stick, but he won't start and showed more stick of 1 GB (896 MB usable in Windows 7). After reading all the threads I wonder if it is a hardware failure or is there a fix in the world of Toshiba or perhaps in the world of Toshiba, the L series is almost obsolete and not worth to help people who unwittingly bought their goods.

I apologize for being slightly down on Toshiba but a laptop that shows what he can work and is not a company should hold his hand up and say that Yes, there is a fault and help deal with the problem.

You see 896 MB, because the rest is reserved for VRAM for graphics card.

Sometimes RAM may simply be incompatible, because of incompatibilities of calendar or RAM chip/controller design differences.

What speed and timings is your original RAM?
    PCxxxx / DDRxxx =
    Schedules CASES/RAS =.

What speed and timings is your new RAM?
    PCxxxx / DDRxxx =
    Schedules CASES/RAS =.

You can display this information using a utility called CPU - Z

  • Satellite L30-149 - does not start with the new RAM modules

I bought RAM Kingston 2 x 1 GB modules. When I put a single module in my notebook - everything works fine. When I put the two modules - BIOS freezes and cannot start.

I tried to combine my old module of 512 MB with 1 GB of Kingston, but in this case laptop detects only more great module (Kingston). So, I'm stuck with only 1 GB of RAM. In my notebook BIOS version is 3.10, and it's the last. I tested RAM modules in a laptop and each of them works fine.

What should I do now? Help, please!

Download and run www.memtest.org Memtest to test these Modules one by one.

I have to buy laptop for office work? and I choose Satellite L30-134? What do you think? It's my first time when I buy the laptop... I have only 700 maybe $ advise you something else? and second question why portable seria L30 have only 1 year warranty, and what cost per the warranty extension?
My English in not very good, sorry. Thank you for your response.

    Hello

The L30-134 is a portable simple to office applications and internet usage.
But it s not suitable for hardcore gamer because of the hardware specifications. As far as I know that the laptop provides Intel-Celeron-M (Yonah) 410 1.5 GHz processor and ATI RADEON Xpress 200M 32 to 256 MB shared video memory graphics card.

The standard warranty is 1 year and if you sign up on the page of Toshiba notebook you will get a 2-year extension

  • How to reset CMOS/BIOS Satellite L30-134?

    Portable satellite L30-134

Did a stupid thing earlier and started putting my supervisor for the BIOS password when my 8 month old was sitting on the couch next to me... Well, the next thing I know his hands where all over the keyboard, then press the ENTER key was pushed, aaaahhhhh! The password is now set and I ain't got a clue what it is.

So my question: How to reset the CMOS/BIOS to lose the password or is there another way around him?

Would like to thank all appreciated help/remedies.

    TIA

    Graham

    It is not possible.
The entire passwords must be removed before you start with the update of the BIOS.
Sorry, but if you don t know the password you cannot delete it and the BIOS update procedure will not work!

ASP in your country is a last chance for the removal of the password. Guys are able to remove the password. It shouldn't be very expensive.

  • Re: Satellite L30 - 134 new HDD

Any SATA2 HARD drive would work with the Satellite L30-134?

Initially, it has a 60GB HDD inside Toshiba MK6034GSX

    Thank you

    Hello

Theoretically, every SATA2 HARD disk should work. This interface is compatible downgrade to the old interface SATA1 and so I see no reason why it should not work.

But SATA2 interface will not bring a performance gain. Hard drives 2.5 normal Don t have such a level of high transfer.

  • Upgrade memory for Satellite L30-134

I have a Satellite L30-134, which seems to work pretty slowly - I think that due to the large amount of photos and music from itunes.

I wonder which is the best way to solve - buy a memory upgrade (no idea how to change memory well) or get an external hard drive?
And if I change the memory I'll lose what is already saved on the laptop?

I agree with Ganz most HARD drive will not improve performance but increase the disk space available HARD, it would be you can store more music and picture on HARD drive ;) files

Upgrade memory also would not provide a performance gain of course performance could be a little better because most of the things would be handled directly in memory and not in time on the HARD drive, but generally it s not really noticeable.

In any case if you want to improve memory, check this:
