Satellite L30: XP Clean install - used to work, now it doesn't

Hello

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks to all those who want to contribute their thoughts. Now, the problem more in detail...

* Summary *.
Laptop comes with Vista. New installation of XP & drivers - all is well for more than a year. XP has become problematic, re-installed XP - same problems exist with clean install.

* Prelude: *.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L30, which came with Vista installed. After some disappointment with Vista, I decided to "upgrade" to XP. The XP installation went without a hiccup. Trying to find drivers for all that took time, as Toshiba is no longer distributes the drivers for the L30 model (at least not on the version of their Web site). I kept (and still have) copies of all drivers, I finally installed to get the laptop with XP works successfully, and everything was fine.

* The problem starts: *.
I had been using this setup for over a year, until recently, and suddenly, the laptop has become problematic (i.e. suspended in certain situations, be slow and usually does not). I have concluded that the laptop had probably lost power during the installation of Windows updates or update had problems and had become unstable. After trying different techniques to try to restore the system (System Restore, chkdsk, etc.), without success, I decided I want to do a clean install of XP.

* Get your fingers Ready puzzle: *.
Using the same XP CD, I used for the first installation, I begin to re - install XP. All right, until the installation reached "Record components", where it crashes. By pressing the power button to restart the computer laptop re-lance installation and installation is completed thanks to the end (perhaps because the installer reported that caused the coup be dried the second time around?). This behavior is now repeatable every time I have to format the drive and install XP. In any case, XP is now installed and boot - but guess what? It shows the exact behavior as well as before the clean install. He is suspended for the same thing and being generally does not. I continued to install all the drivers that I used the first time around, but still the same problem. (may be interesting to note that safe mode do not present any of this behavior and works very well).

* The plot thickens *.
So now, I think that it is likely to be a hardware / firmware issue, as it is set up exact same software. In the context of spending + long + time trying to figure out, I move using the Toshiba recovery disc that re - installs Vista and now everything works fine, no problem with anything (well, except that it's Vista). I installed all the available Windows updates updated all drivers and ghosts and then the hard drive, so I can go back at least to a configuration of work relatively easily. Thinking that this procedure + may + have restored balance for the setup of hardware, I re - install XP, but it's yet to be a problem in exactly the same way. I'm puzzled.

* What to do now *.
Personally, I prefer to use the cell phone as a Clipboard that is expensive to use it with Vista installed. I ordered some RAM so that he will be able to run Windows 7, but I don't wouldn't really be content of this workaround. By far, XP is the OS of choice, but I do not know what path to take then get back to work.
I'd like to hear your 2 cents. Thanks for reading the above, I know it was long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Ian

I put t think that the problem is related to the lack of driver Toshiba.

First parrowdice trying to install Win XP and Win XP does not support the VAP (value added package). VAP is released just for Vista and Win 7.

I think that the Intel Matrix Storage Manager is also not necessary I think it might be something wrong with the hardware. Maybe HARD drive?

Download the tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Test. This tool creates a bootable CD that would go to a HARD disk check, I think that should help to check if a HARD drive is affected.

  • Re: Satellite L650/0E8 - clean install with Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello.

I recently bought a [Toshiba L650/0E8 laptop | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/l650/psk1ja-0e8017] and accidentally installed the 32-bit version of Windows 7.

I saved an image of "recovery" from my computer in 4 DVD-R using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. I need to use Adobe Master Collection CS5, but this requires the 64-bit edition to use first Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5. I've put together by reading some articles on the net that I have to do a 'clean' install, but as I've always had a technician set up my computer and have never used a Toshiba laptop before, I'm unaware on how to backup all my files, programs, drivers, etc. before reinstall Windows 7 to a 64-bit version.

-What do these recovery DVD? Is there anywhere I can download the software/drivers for the 64-bit version Toshiba? I apologize if these questions sound really stupid. Honestly, I'm rather confused as to what to do.

    Hey,.

First of all I have to say it s even though you created the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the user manual. :)
Some other users here forget it because they don t read their user's manual.

Anyway, with this record, you can restore the pre-installed Windows version (Windows 7 64 bit) with all the drivers and tools. That means you n t need additional drivers and Toshiba, all tools will be installed automatically. You get out of adjustment of the rear housing.

But if you use the Toshiba Recovery disk it will wipe the entire HARD drive, then you will need to make a backup of all your important files that you should always after installing Windows.
This is why I would recommend an external HARD drive. They offer a lot of space to save all your data and with some models, you also backup software, but you can also use the built-in Windows backup tool, it s also nice and works well.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! ;)

    Hi DmitryGrigoriev,

    What microphone internal, you mean?
I checked the Satellite L30 manual and I can't find any information on an internal microphone. Normally, the internal MIC is part of the webcam and it s not equipped with webcam.

I think you need to use an external microphone or a headset. ;)

    Hello

Since your laptop seems to belong to the Toshiba U.S. series, I think the recovery procedure is a bit different as in the series of European for Toshiba laptop.

You should be able to access the partition by pressing zero when you turn it on, press and hold until you see something on the screen. If this does not work, you will need to use the recovery discs.

I found a page where you can order a recovery for Toshiba notebooks WE drive:

  • HP MIni 210-2145 DX: clean install of Windows 7, now I can't find the wireless drivers that work.

I have a HP mini 210-2145 DX.  I recently had to do a clean install of Windows Ultimate edition.  Now, I can get a wireless connection because I can't find the right drivers on the HP site.  I tried 12 + drivers that I downloaded.  They all seem to be for 32 bits, and it's 64-bit.

Can someone please help me find the right wireless drivers to install?  Thank you.

Try this different file and see if it works automatically and installs the driver.

    File name: sp57965.exe

There was also support for the hardware ID you have posted.

I have no problem downloading the file, or by using 7 - zip to extract the exe file downloaded to a folder that you can browse from the network controller to install the drivers.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the problem if the new file does not work.

  • Satellite L30-101 power up used

I have a L30-101 which has unstable power supply problem.

Sometimes it will start without effort. Once I press the power button, load cookies and wifi will be off and the power light will flash briefly, after that a few seconds, the load and wifi lights will be rekindled and I can try again. Finally, if it is not started, the light goes off and that's all.

another time if I push the button for a few seconds, it will start or freeze as noted above.

To try again, the only way is to remove the (new) battery and the power cable.

Also, I tried to hold the power button down for 30 seconds with the battery cables and power removed as a forum sudgested it discharging the capacitors on the motherboard. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

If I have apart and put back together, it works. (but that's a bit excessive. So unless he can sprout wings very quickly, it's life may be limited).

All these answers are the same whether on the supply cable, battery only or both.

    I'm starting to loose patience...

Your described problems looks like a motherboard failure.
I have no other explanation for that matter.

I mean it s not a problem of battery from the laptop must turn on correctly just connected to the AC adapter only.

I put t think the related issue of RAM because in this case the laptop must turn on not even for a second or the system freezes after widows started upward.

Satellite L30 is slightly older unit so it can be possible to this motherboard is the troublemaker.

  • Port USB of the Satellite L30 stop Windows when using

I recently bought a Satellite L30 (psl33E) for my wife and everything seemed fine. That was until she needed additional usb ports for his stuff and used the port on the left side of the machine (as opposed to the one still in use, in the back). As soon as she tried to use this port in particular, the close dow and has done since then.

Could someone tell me please how to fix this, because it is only a few weeks old, and I don't want to take it back to the store where it was purchased.

    Hello

It really looks like a serious hardware problem. I guess that the USB port cannot deliver enough power when other ports are in use.

If I were you I bring the machine or contact the nearest available service partner in your country and allow them to correct this problem.

  • Disc of Windows 7 64 bit System Builder will allow me to do a clean install using the supplied with any PC OEM license?

In the past, I bought a windows XP disk manufacturers Premium System home.

If there is a computer that does not have the recovery discs, I could reinstall the XP operating system and use the ORIGINAL OEM license to

    turn on the computer.

This is always the case with a copy of WINDOWS 7 Home premium 64-bit disk system integrators.

This disc will allow me to use the license OEM Original on any computer I do a clean install on If I

Have a WINDOWS 7 Home Premium license on those computers?

Its simpler just uninstall what you don't want, its going to be no different from a clean install. You can forget something on the left over registry entries, which is of no consequence and has not been since Windows 9 * days.

A destructive restore using the recovery disks, is a dry-cleaning facility / formatted.

And using the means of recovery disks then you can download the drivers from this manufacturer of PC

System builders, of the same version of fix disk can be used with your key, it is however attached to the first PC sound used on and subsequently cannot be used on another.

If you really want the win7 installation disc, you can download the ISO official that corresponds to the version you have the key to.

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - U ISO

    English x 86: X 17 - 59463.iso
    English x 64: X 17 - 59465.iso

  • Clean install of windows 7, now I have no permission to copy on external hard drive.

I have a HP media center 2005 office which originally had XP on it. I bought an upgrade Windows 7 years and installed and never had a problem. Two weeks ago I reformatted my computer to get rid of a redirect virus, and everything seems to work perfectly except for one thing: my C: drive and both of my external hard drives, K:, and M: require administrator privileges to copy/paste/modify anything.
When I did a clean install it automatically gives me an admin account.

My question is, what can I do to change the permissions and security settings, while I have a total control over EVERYTHING. I recently tried video file on my external drive and he told me that I needed permissions and click ok to try. But he did nothing.

I want access to all of my files. Drive C and the two external. I noticed that the security options when I consult my files or directories where showing these accounts:

    SYSTEM
    Josh (Josh-PC\Josh)
    Administrators (Josh-PC\Administrators)
    Everyone

and I was getting a SID that is long enough

There are a lot of files, but one in particular that made me on this hunting witch was changing my user profile file in Firefox. I did a clean install and wanted to change the shortcut menu in firefox, but also a few other settings.
This just happened to reside in C:/documents and settings /

The recipe is the same as before: take ownership of the problem folder. It make recursive so that you don't need to treat each case separately.

    Hi Anthony

First of all, I would like to answer these questions:

    > Can I get a CD of restoration for XP with this model or how can I build one?
No, this PSL33E shipped only with Vista and the Toshiba XP image does not exist for this L30 camera

    > I brought back product XP disks for satellite pro PSM55E, but when I tried this above flaws that occurred.
This is nothing unusual. The recovery CD Toshiba designed for other series of laptop does not work on the L30!
You should only use specially designed for the PSL33E recovery CD!

In my opinion all the questions that appear on the laptop are missing drivers or wrong!
As you say all the XP drivers are available on the page of Toshiba Europe and must be installed in the order mentioned in the installation instructions!
All patches are simply patches from Microsoft and this updates can be installed automatically by using the Microsoft Update page.

    Check this box:
    http://update.Microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

Notes; Sometimes, you have to restart the laptop several times and will need to run this update to install all available patches!

    Good luck

  • HP envy 4500 problems scanning - used to work, now, not so much

I tried to solve this problem for over 3 hours now so apologies if shows my frustration.

    Equipment:

MacBook pro under OS X 10.9.2

    Apple airport express router

HP Envy 4500 all in one printer/scanner

    I can print without problem.

Using the HP Scan application, I get this message:

My camera looked good in regards to connectivity on my computer in system preferences, then I went to the screen of printer control in the menu 'Wireless' and I tried to redo the wireless configuration. I typed in my network name and the printer can't find my network. I have continued in any case, left the network name in and typed the wi - fi password, still no luck.

So I tried the WPS in place. The screen just kept looking, and nothing connected.

So, I tried to download the drivers from the HP site and guess what? The driver is installed on my hard drive, but then set it up the window of the HP utility can't find my device is:

I tried to connect the printer directly to the computer with the USB cable, just so he could download the driver, he got as far as the next step, "Configuring device" and who doesn't work anymore:

I tried to restore the default settings on the printer.

I tried uninstall & reinstall - oh, but then we encounter the same problem.

And during all this, the printer has frozen several times, so I had to unplug the power to restart.

I restarted my computer and my router. I did everything listed to. The printer does not have the router in Setup Wizard, and in the HP utility, it does not find my printer, BUT I CAN PRINT.  Just doesn't scan.

For some reason, I can PRINT wireless with no problems. But the scanner do not think that my router or my computer is. I can not open even the utilities EVEN when it is connected DIRECTLY with USB, I get this message:

I am beyond frustrated, I'm about to throw it at the wall. Please if anyone has a solution, I'd like to hear it. This printer is not even 5 months old. I HATE when things are not working. I can understand if I did something to it, but I did nothing else until it turned off for a few days.

Note: I WAS able to scan before without a problem. The only thing I can think is that I put my printer off for a few days because I was not using it.

Ugh. OK, it's been 4 hours.

Hi, if anyone else has this problem, read this post, it has solved the problem for me:
