Satellite L300 - error if I try to create a recovery disk

I was trying to create recovery disks for my new L300, but after a few minutes, the program stops and receive Error Messages (boot.wim is not). Yet once, I tried to create through other DVDs of brand as Philips DVD - R, Imation DVD - R, Sony DVD + r etc.
Can you please help with that?

I can't find the Verbatim and TDK DVD in our market closest to try these marks too.

Hello!

I have a Satellite L300 too and didn t have problems to create the Toshiba recovery disc. I used DVD - R Verbatim media and usually got the best experience with the manufacture of DVD and DVD - R types.

In your case, I would try this DVD media or the TDK DVD-R discs. If you can find t he on the store closest to the computer you can also order it online. Take a look on Amazon or eBay, here, you can order these media.
It s worth a try! ;)

Good bye

    Hello

What kind of DVD that you use to create a Toshiba Recovery disk? I have tried Verbatim DVD-R and TDK DVD-R and never had a problem with these discs. A friend tried DVD + R and he couldn t create a recovery disk. After he tried DVD-R and everything was fine but I do not know why this happened.

Also, check the Toshiba page for an update of the firmware of the CD/DVD drive. Maybe it will help you.

  • Screen flickers on Satellite L300 and I am unable to create a recovery disk

    Hi all

    I just bought a model L300 PSLB0C 08R08C number.
I was unable to create a recovery disk, I was getting an error message saying it cannot create disk because it is scratched or has dirt on it, I lost 5 nine DVD.

I am went to the store and replaced by another unit, but had the same problem (I have not tried a different brand of DVD well)

Second issue with this device, the screen flashes once whenever it is in a shutdown state.
Number 3, the wireless card disappears from the Device Manager, until I restart.
    Laptop made in China ;-)

    Any suggestions are much apprecaited

    Hello

It is indeed strange that you were unable to create a recovery disk, and that the problem has resurfaced, even after permutation of the laptop with another unit of the store. However, if you have not tried a different brand of DVD so I suggest that if the laptop asks the disc is scratched or has dirt on it. I'm not sure if toshiba factory in fact blank DVDs, but if they do, it would be a starting point, as one would expect hardware toshiba would happily work with their own brand DVD media. However, if you can't find toshiba dvd then use another trust mark, for example, Imation and TDK. with my experience, I have tried many brands of DVD and have found very reliable TDK.

regarding the second question, this may be related to the graphics card in the system, or could be due to the performance of the computer laptop itself. Check that you have the latest driver for your graphics card and all the settings on the computer are optimized / hard drives are defragmented and deleted unnecessary files. with your third question, this question could also be related to driver problems, check your regional drivers toshiba site for the latest drivers again. failing this, I would back up your data and then restore to a factory condition, then install the drivers immediately. I hope this info can help you somehow.

I tried to create recovery disks for my L300, but after a 1-2 minutes, the program stops and says: 'Please check if the disc is scratced or dirty, if so, try again with a new disc' error code 0E01B5-26-2A030C00.

I tried this many times with many different DVD in recent weeks, but this continues to be!

The machine is old just a few weeks and run Vista family premium advice please as Im stuck.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hi mate

I think that you have used are simply not fully compatible disks and supported.
In my case I couldn't t create the recovery because the CD/DVD drive was not able to manage it.

Is that many CD & DVD discs supports properties and different standards and in many cases, CD/DVD players have a lot of difficulties to manage different disks.
I think you should just test some DVD-R discs.

I use DVD-R and was able to create the recovery disk.

The information gives instuctions on how to proceed for the Vista machines, but not for XP.

There is a recovery CD included product that says only: "MS Windows XP" so I guess that it does not include drivers or Toshiba Software?

    Hello

You have preinstalled software Toshiba TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator?

    Please check this box.
Using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator you can create the recovery disk.

But if your laptop was already pre-installed with Windows XP and then a Recovery CD or DVD must be included.

Have you checked all of the items in the box?

You can create the recovery only DVD disc if your laptop computer has preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator and factory settings.

Please check if you can find this tool under start > all programs > Toshiba. There you should find shortcuts to launch this utility.

  • Satellite L - how to create a recovery disk?

    Hey,.

I accidentally uninstalled the program "Recovery Disc Creator". But the folder with Win Vista Recovery disc information are still in my computer. Now, I want you help me in creating a recovery disk. My system is very unstable. So I want to re install. I hope you can help me.

Sorry, but why did you uninstall the recovery disk creator?

However, now you can not create the recovery disk because you have uninstalled the program to create the disc.

The only way I know is you use HARD drive recovery option to reinstall your laptop. You can use it if you go to the advanced boot menu (F8 before Windows starts), choose repair my computer, and then select the Toshiba HDD Recovery feature.

Normally you get this message if you start your laptop on first use:

  • Satellite A300D - create a recovery disk

    Hello
I have a Toshiba A300D. Recently, I installed the version BETA of Windows 7, wiping my installation of Windows Vista on my laptop, now I don't want Windows 7 more and wants to return to Vista. I still have the recovery partition in drive D, but I don't know how to be: create a recovery from this disk or restore using this straight from the trunk. I tried pressing F11 at the Toshiba flash at startup screen, and who just go to a screen that says "Windows could not start...". "etc, I also tried to go to the Multiboot menu and selecting HDD2, and who does not work either.

So can someone tell me how I can restore back to Windows Vista, I'm not taken worth losing data as I alll backed up on an external hard drive.
Where can I get the Toshiva Recovery Disc Creator software anywhere?

    Hello

He's a bad friend... usually it is not possible to restore the laptop on the factory (in the image of Toshiba) settings if you have removed the Vista HARD drive and not create the recovery disk...

The recovery disk is THIS essential disk and must be created at the beginning!

But maybe you're a lucky guy...
I found this thread with a nice tutorial posted by forum user.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=164927&

I didn't test it and I don't know if it will work, but I think you're last option... otherwise, you will need to order the Toshiba recovery disc.

  • Missing file when creating a recovery disk CD

    Hello

At first my English isn't the best.

    And now my problem:
When I try to create a new HARD drive recovery CD an error telling me there is a missing file

    This is the error message:

The following file could not be opened,
    F:\08011XSP5.swm
    (Error 020123-F1-00000000 code)

I just translated the error message then maybe there are a few mistakes in there.
    I got a Satellite A300-1QD. Obtained on 20 March.

I put t know what to do. Can someone help me?

    > I don't know what to do. Can someone help me?
In my opinion, you should follow:
Make screenshots of all the errors as evidence. Try to create a recovery media using DVD-R media and use high quality as TDK or Verbatim media.

If the same thing happen again try to contact nearest authorized maintainer and explain the situation. I hope that you will get a new original Toshiba recovery media.
The missing file is a serious problem for me and if you are unable to create recovery media, I fear that you can not install Vista using F6 option and the HDD recovery procedure. If this is true, you can stay without an operating system. Please don't make any experiences with F6.

Contact ASP and try to get a free recovery media. Use screenshots as evidence.

By the way: I Satellite A300, but I got lucky and creation of recovery worked correctly.

I suspect that the operating system on your laptop is probably not an OEM copy because of which the Recovery Manager is not available

FYI, if the Recovery Manager was available, you can restore (restore your laptop back to the factory State) without the need to create recovery discs. The D:\ disc that is the recovery partition that would help you to do on your laptop.

Try these steps and see if it works.

    1. click on Start button and type "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes and press ENTER key

    2. right click on the drive D:\ - HP Recovery partition and select Mark Partition Active.

    3. what would give you an alert/prompt, where you must choose Yes brings you to the Recovery Manager screen and restart your computer. You can follow the link that I provided above to start the process of recovery on your laptop.

    Note:

Please backup your files before recovering on the laptop that it would result in the loss of data.

I can't refresh PC or create the recovery disk. He keeps going with error message "Cannot find the necessary files" and tells me to insert the recovery media. There is no system restore point, and I've upgraded to Windows 7 Windows 8 Pro without a disc, so I can't do anything. Help! Hello

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll certainly try and help you in the matter of fixing.

To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Why are you trying to cool off the computer?

2 are you facing problems with Windows 8?

    3. how many accounts is configured in the computer?

You can scan the file system (CFS) auditor. This will replace the corrupted Windows files.

    Follow these steps:

    (a) start the desktop view.

    (b) open the command prompt, right-click in the left corner when the windowappears, and select prompt (admin).

    (c) type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

You can also try to create a new user account and check if the problem persists.

If the problem persists, you will need the DVD to perform repair installation of Windows 8. If you download the installation of Windows 8 files, check your emails, there should be a link to download an ISO file. Download and burn the file to a DVD.

The DVD to perform the repair.
