Satellite L300, how to start from the cd/dvd external USB drive?

I have an old laptop Satellite L300, latest version of the BIOS (2.20) installed.
I would like to start on a connected external USB CD/DVD player
PROBLEM:
BIOS will not start on this CD/DVD disc.
In the BIOS boot priority is: CD/DVD, USB, HDD
BEHAVIOR:
When starting, computer ignores the CD/DVD, ignores the USB and start on the HARD drive.
QUESTION:
Is it possible at all boot for CD/DVD USB external?

Thanks for the efforts made to respond.
Concerning

It is NOT possible, I thought. REASON: The BIOS does not, does not reckognize CD/DVD (does not test if code such USB-CD/DVD bootable) drive connected via USB.

  • Satellite C70D - how to start from the DVD

    Hello
You just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as much as I know to knowledge), except start it from the DVD. I disabled the Secure Boot in the bios and changed the boot order on a DVD first, then USB and HARD drive. The DVD player starts, but then it jumps on the HARD disk and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so it's not the problem.
I want to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Someone has already solved this problem?

Update: changing of UEFI CMS in the Advanced BIOS tab at the start of the DVD, but Windows no longer starts. Is it possible to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

best way to transfer photos from the iMac on external hard drive

If you are mobile loose photo files, drag them in here and if you are going to be removed from the inside, keep a copy on a second disc.

If you move an iPhoto, Aperture, or photo library, make sure that the external hard drive contains a volume to the Mac OS Extended format, drag the library there, launch the application with the key Option key, choose it, confirm that it works and if you are going to be remove from the inside, keep a copy of it on a second disc.

  • How can I get my computer my external USB drive (portfolio) after that I repeatedly get the message that the device "can not be removed?

Original title: I need a market to resolve the problem remove the instrument.

How can I get my computer my external USB drive (portfolio) after that I repeatedly get the message that the device "can not be removed? I have closed all other programs and waited for varying amounts of time, and tried all of the fixes that have been proposed on this site. Nothing works. I don't want to turn off the computer whenever I have to remove the device.

I can't know what "all patches" you've tried, but:

Make sure that the system restore does not monitor the external drive.  SR does need to control the system drive and to the system drive, SR has only about 1 GB of space max.  Make a right click my computer and select properties then the System Restore tab to configure SR.

Make sure that the Indexing Service is turned off (at least for the external drive).  To disable disk indexing completely, which will also speed up your computer a bit, see http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp.  For the external drive, right-click on the drive icon in my computer, select properties and uncheck the indexing disc

There are different workarounds short to shut down the computer, but you might want to try this third-party app first:
    http://safelyremove.com/index.html  Among other features:

The device cannot be stopped now. Why? Never encountered the situation when Windows does not allow you to remove a device? Unlike Windows, USB remove will show you programs which prevent the device to be stopped and let you close these programs or just files that they opened on the device.

  • Satellite 2400: How to boot from the CD-ROM PCMCIA?

    Dear all,

I try to start from the PCMCIA - CD ROM because my DVD-ROM is not working. After you press the power and press F12, I chose PCMCIA but nothing happens. should I change something in the BIOS first?

    My laptop is Satellite 2400.

    Thank you...

    Hello

I got this Toshiba FAQ document on the startup form of the PCMCIA reader.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ35005G002KR01.htm
This article describes a seed on a protected unit but it s useful and you should check it out.

In addition, you can check in the BIOS the option PC card. Try to change the mode of the CCIP Compatible controller or CardBus/16 bit and tries to start again the PCMCIA card.
To change these settings, first change the configuration of device for all devices

  • Satellite L300 - will not start after the installation of Skype

My Toshiba Satellite L300 won't start after installing Skype.
This happened to someone else, and can I do?

    Thank you.

I think Skype is probably the most used messenger and ideal application for communication.
It is professionally designed and programmed. As you know in recent years, it has been offered in many different versions and it is always better and better.

So I think that Skype itself is probably not the problem. I know that a lot of people also use Skype and I've never heard problem described.

Anyway, what you can try is to remove Skype and try to install it again. Try also push the BONES at that earlier time. Maybe some Microsoft updates are responsible for the stability of the software.
It's really not easy to say what the problem is here.

  • Satellite L300 - how to save on the E: drive?

    Hello

My sister seems to have problems with his hard drive, he said that it is almost full (vista drive (c :))) a message keeps coming up)
I was wondering just how she can start using the E: drive. Is it possible to change the settings on the computer so that everything is saved on disk E
I don't know much about computers but would really help

It is Toshiba Satellite L300 and Windows Vista 32 bit

    Thanks maz

    Hey Buddy,

You can use drive E all the time... ;-)

The point is that most programs will be installed on the C drive, so you should choose drive E, if you want to install.

In my opinion the best option is if you save all important files and private on second drive E. I mean these files like photos, videos, music, documents, etc. He just copy and post it on the E drive, everything that s! :)

  • Satellite L300 - I can recover from the hidden partition

    Hello

The vista on my L300 will not start.

I try to use the modem for the first time, but he could not communicate with the line. So I delete in "Device Manager".

After the reboot, vista boot screen appears only for 3 seconds then restart the laptop. There is no way, no safe mode...

Contact the hd as an external drive XP say 'unknown' 0 bytes, with Linux just like named 'vista' and I could open all the files.

I have no recovery. DVD burning with the Toshiba Recovery program has failed tree times and so I give up.

the hidden partition is ok. On my laptop from a different manufacture, I can recover from this hidden partition. Is it possible to do it on my L300?

    Thanks for the information

    Thorsten

    Hello!

The hidden partition you want to say has nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery image.
There are files for system restore, and it is a feature of Vista, not Toshiba. If you want more information about the restore of the system here is a good article from Wikipedia:
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/WinRE

The HARD drive recovery folder contains the original recovery image and if you don t have access to this folder and do not burn the recovery disc, you need a new.
You can get one from an ASP, but you can also order a disc here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

    Good bye

  • Satellite C660 don't start from the HDDs or recovery

    Hi people,

Post this question for my neighbor, as there is now no internet access as mobile does not not - Satellite C660 running Win7.

In the event of power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

Tried to boot from the DVD of Win7 (you press F12 for boot & changed options on DVD), can hear the reader tries to access the dvd but then get the message 'impossible '. DVD of Win7 works in my laptop and desktop pc computer.

    Any ideas.

    Thank you

    Nigel

    > When the power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

    Possibly the HARD drive died.
That try you to the power of the unit and press F2
Now you should be able to access the BIOS.

If the disk HARD isn t appearing on the first page of the BIOS, this means that HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS, which means that the HARD drive is faulty.

  • Satellite A105 does not start from the CD Rom

Today WinXP fall & I decide to reinstall.
I change in the Bios to boot to the cd-rom first.
But she continue to start the hard drive first. I don't know what to do, because I don't Win & I can't boot from any device except the HARD drive.

Any body can help me? Can be extracted bios battary motherboard...

    Hello

If you want to boot from the CD Rom, then a bootable Windows CD must be inserted in the first place.

Immediately after starting the laptop, press the F12 key.
This should allow the start on-screen menu then you could choose the ODD (CD/DVD drive) and the laptop should boot from the drive.

    Good bye

Vista tells me that the version of windows 7 I have is not compatible, but im sure he has the right. Vista has contracted a virus or something and has been slowly eating itself, nearly every program has stopped working if im sure its something to do with this. I just want to boot from the new drive of windows so I can use it to reset my system (I already backed up files) with a better recorded version.

Thank you very much BillSmithers, I'm finally wipe my vista infected malware and install a new copy of windows 7. I knew what I had to do, but my system boots fast I can never tell which button press to enter the BIOS. Your links has helped me see what I should see at startup but never had the time for. Hello!

I don't know if I understand your question right, but you can use the recovery disk for your laptop on every time Mr. He s not depending on the partition or HARD drive.

For example, when you replace the HARD drive, you can install the laptop using the recovery disk.

  • Starting from installation, recovery - on - external hard drive

Computer: Gateway MD2614u laptop, AMD Turion X 2 64-bit processor, designed for Windows Vista

External hard drive: WD My Book Essentials (surrounded by Western Digital 500 GB drive external hard)

Background: laptop was dropped, crushed physically the internal hard drive, all other aspects of the laptop appear to be in working condition.

Vista says: Windows Setup cannot install another USB or IEEE 1394 device.

It is important to note that the external drive is a SATA.  ALSO that there is NO hard drive internal to the computer right now.

I pulled the drive from its casing and place in my desktop computer.  I have installed Vista in this way, and placed the disc in its case, confident, would solve the problem.  "The found operating system"

I wiped the drive and tried again, this time using my Windows 7 to format the drive make a primary partition active and used the WD SmartWare to disable the password on the external, as well as VCD (Virtual CD, which contains the software for backup on and retrieve the external hard drive) on the outside.  Then installed Vista back once again, the drive in the enclosure, and again, I got 'the operating system not found '.

I tried to use the "gateway recovery disc" the computer asked me to do immediately after I ran it the first time.  They have installed the Vista gateway on the external hard drive without any problem, the recovery software has taught me that I had to press OK to restart the computer, but again once 'the operating system not found"happens.  I advanced and rebooted the computer out of habit and that the computer starts in what concerns the loading of "microsoft" bar (the green bar moving left to right while loading vista), and then it restarted itself.  This new responsible for the 'green bar' and restarted again.

3 times I let him, then I placed the regular 64 bit Vista disc in the status bar and try a startup repair.  "Windows cannot resolve the problem, do you want to send the information to Microsoft" or something that nearby.

I then tried using the disk for 32-bit Vista in the same way.

32 bit Vista disc completed the repair, but now the 'green bar' vista loading screen comes up, runs for a few seconds, and then I get a quick flash of a blue screen, and until I can see what he says, the computer restarts.

    Help!

    Hello

This seems to be a hardware problem, so you may have to contact the manufacturer, follow the link given below to communicate with the gateway.
