Satellite L300. Observation on the issues cover the recovery of Vista on a new HARD drive
Hi all
I need to reinstall Vista (on a Toshiba Satellite L300) runs the "recovery disc" created by Toshiba disc creator before recovery and using a disc of "nine" (Toshiba MK2035GSS, 200 GB).
Issues related to the:
(1) I have to partition and format the new drive before starting with recovery disks / DVD (s).
or which will be done through the recovery process?
(2) what is the reason for which the current disc is divided into two size equal C: and D: partitions, while
D: partition seems to be reservered for the system, but only 5 GB are used?
(3) what is the purpose of the partition 3. ("inactive") with about 1.5 GB of space?
Thanks in advance for your support and help!

> 1) I have to partition and format the new drive before starting with recovery disks / DVD (s).

No, because the HARD disk should be formatted during the recovery process.
(> 2) what is the reason for which the current disc is divided into two size equal partitions C: and D:, while
D: partition seems to be reservered for the system, but only 5 GB are used?
On the D partition, you can find the files and folder from HARD drive recovery. HARD disk recovery allows you to recover the laptop HARD drive and in this case, you don't need the recovery disc
(> 3) what is the purpose of the partition 3. ("inactive") with about 1.5 GB of space?
It is a Vista partition and is necessary for the backup files. Vista is able to repair the operating system if something bad is going to do this the necessary files that are stored on this partition.

My hard drive is failng in my computer I get the message that "the failure of hard drive" is imminent for several months now. I did just recovery disks after I bought my computer and that you have ordered a new hard drive.
I thought that the part of the setup of windows on a portion of the current hard disk that I need to replace.
I want to just make sure that if I can restore the windows completely and that all programmes provided with the computer are on the recovery discs I want to do it myself - so I need to know I'm doing it correctly!
Thank you very much.
Kimberly
PS I found this web page below and I want to just make sure that it applies to me:
This link in the post seems to apply to the situation. If you have already completed the defined recovery disc then it should just be a matter of running the recovery disc after the new hard drive is installed. The recovery disk set will be "restoring windows completely and all programs included with the computer". Be aware that all other items that were installed or personal data will not be restored. When replacing the hard drive, do not buy a disc exceeds the limit of 2 TB, such as published in the SPECS for TouchSmart 420-1000 t CTO.

Is it possible to use the Acer restore disks on a new hard drive?
The hard drive on my Aspire 5251 appears to be dead. He was behaving erraticly and we tried a full restore via the program eRecovery a couple of times and it is always wrong (error 0x45d). We also tried discs that we did when the laptop is new with no luck.
I bought and installed a new hard drive, but can't get the disks to install on it either. I'm guessing that it is looking for something partitioned the original hard drive because he says that something is missing. It is more under warranty and I can't figure out how to order the full install discs from Acer. Is it possible to get these recovery discs to work?
Also, FWIW, I installed Ubuntu on the new hard drive just to see if it works, and it's so I know everything works at least.
TIA
Yes, you can use your Acer restore on a new hard drive disks. If you have installed ubuntu, you may need to format the HARD disk and to create a partition on the disk hard so that the discs work.

Reinstalling Vista on a new hard drive after the accident.
Hi, I bought a laptop Lenovo, which came with Windows Vista SP2. Recently, my hard drive crashed and I got a new hard drive. In this case, can I re - install Vista with product key provided on my laptop? If it is possible, how can I get the operating system to install. Appreciate any kind of answers to my question. Thanks in advance.
Hello
Yes
This is your vista license to reinstall on the same machine
Contact Lenovo and ask them to send you recovery disks vista to reinstall the operating system as it was when you bought it
http://www.Lenovo.com/us/en/index.html
they do it for a nominal cost of $
or borrow a microsoft dvd vista
Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer
they contain all versions of vista
This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
Then go to the lenovo Web site and download the latest drivers vista of your particular computer

Satellite P10: Question about the limits of upgrade of RAM and HARD drive
What are the limits to upgrade my laptop Satellite P10? Currently, I use 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512) and I still have the original 60 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive. I'm mainly interested in upgrading my hard drive to at least get a 7200 RPM 100 GB disc. Better would be one of the ones 24 hours server as Hitachi HTE721010G9AT00, I have just turned off my computer. Which one to take and are there limits (BIOS) (keeping in mind that there will be 200 and even the 250 GB drives next year)?
RAM: should I put two 200pin SO-DIMM 333 or 533 or should not change at all as it works very well and stabil now?
Hello
In my eyes you should follow the guidance of Toshiba line and must use the memory modules that are recommended in the user guide. But if you can also try to test with 400 Mhz or 533 Mhz. I think that each dealer notebook or memory could do that.
I think the BIOS might be able to handle the hard drive with capacity of 30 GB / 40 GB / 60 GB / 80 GB, Bus Master IDE with ultra DMA 100 synchronous
In my opinion the BIOS does not recognize the larger HARD drive. -
Before moving to Windows 10 of my OEM 8.1 Win I would increase the size of the recovery partition (D). I would like to know how to do this safely.
Thanks for any help. John
There is no need to increase the size of the HP recovery Partition. In fact, this can lead to make non-functional... HP recovery Partition leaving you without the ability to create your recovery HP Recovery Media options or access the HP Recovery Manager or "F11".
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Since the update of Vista on my external hard drive problems
I have a problem with my external hard drive. A week ago I reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium on my PC. Everything worked very well, my external hard drive, too. But after installing all the new updates and SP2 my external hard drive has problems. If I copy something from her, or just listen to the music is recorded on it, so overall if I work with her, after 1 to 3 minutes it stops working. I have to sign in to get access to it again. But before installing SP2 updates after SP2 everything worked out very well. So I think that there is a problem with SP2 or the following updates. My Pc is a Dell Dimension 9200 and the external hard drive is a Verbatim 1 TB external hard drive and USB 2.0
I tried to bbot with Ubuntu and delete the Autorun.inf. Now everything works fine again.
Thank you -

Hello
What you can do with Vista is directly related to the features built into your recovery by
the manufacturer of the system so its best to check with them and their forums. It is also important for
You laptop and need drivers and specific OEM configurations. Also check with the manufacturer of information system for upgrading to Windows 7 laptop because it
probably also requires a compatible BIOS and drivers on their part. They had Windows 7
information and updated drivers on their website. Also check their forums, as appropriate, others will have tried to upgrade to Windows 7 and or tried
a dual boot and probably can offer good advice.I hope this helps.

I dropped a laptop Toshiba Satellite A215 SS818 three year, upstairs. The hard drive and CD drive are damaged. I replaced the hard drive, and with the advice of a store of large surface, I bought an external pioneer CD/DVD reader/burner-usb 2. I think I need to download DirectX9 and install the latest drivers from device WHQL also, according to the requirements on the box.
Duh - I realized, I can't use it to install the OS if the player needs software first downloaded to the laptop (didn't think it out while in a hurry in the middle of the store).
Is it possible to get this OS installed via other external means?
Thanks for any help.

Unable to connect to the internet after installing the xp of origin on a new hard drive.
I get the message not connected area. I know that the connection is ok because I ask this question on another computer using the same ethernet cable.
Hello
Hold down the Windows (between Ctrl and Alt) key and press the Pause break key. What is stated in the "system:"section (specifically looking for anything that tells you what is your level of service current pack, which will be either 1, 1, 2, 3 or nothing shown)? "
Second, please do the following...
- Click Start
- Click on run
- Type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER, this will open Device Manager window
- Enlarge (click on +) on the section network cards - what is listed?
- Similarly, what is listed under other devices?
In addition, indicate the mark, the serial number and model of your PC, or if it is a custom build, of the brand and model of your motherboard.
I suspect that you have missing drivers after re-installing. These will be available on the PC or motherboard manufacturer's Web site. You may have received a driver CD with the PC that would also contain the drivers.

A few weeks ago my drive hard out crapped on me and I bought a new one. I installed Vista on it and thought that I installed all the drivers. Yesterday, I had to use my bluetooth and noticed that it has not been installed. After knowing that I need a patch for it, I was able to connect my phone to my computer. But now the icon is not in the control panel so that I could easily adjust settings or view paired devices. I can only adjust the settings of the icon in the bottom left of the taskbar. Whenever I try to view paired devices I get the icon of waiting and then nothing happens.
Macuahuitl salvation,
Ø what service pack is installed on your computer?
If you don't have SP2 on your computer, you may not be able to see the icon in the control panel. Try to install SP2 on your computer and check the status.
OR
You can uninstall the device blue tooth from the Device Manager and restart the computer that will install the generic drivers, then check if the icon is listed in Control Panel.
Please post back the result.
