Satellite L300 & Windows Vista aren't grateful Ipod

Hi, I hope you can help! I was directed here by Microsoft & Apple - here is my question and also Microsofts response:

I have an ipod nano 3rd generation, work outside the home a near new laptop with windows vista. iTunes is the entire installation, no problems with the ipod at all but when I plug the ipod in, it only charges the ipod.

computer doesn't recognize any, the ipod under windows or itunes. It there is no portable device driver in Device Manager, or anywhere at all.

It is not the usb port as another usb have been recognized. I have tried in all the other usb ports as well. bottom line is that windows vista (and itunes) is not to recognize the ipod at all.

I've been in contact with apple, with anything. I googled solutions for hundreds of other posts with exactly the same problem but no useful solution. Windows vista has no port of portable device - how can we get this on their pc?

I've been at this for 4 days now and you have uninstalled/reinstalled much too often and I'm out! all tips (other that "have you tried another usb port' or ' have you reset the ipod" or something similar) would be much appreciated.

once more, there is no drive of laptop/ipod device located on this computer. Please, I really hope someone can help =)

* Microsofts response: *.

Hello

Step 1: enable USB bus power back

If the laptop is configured to save power by turning off the power on the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, it may not recognize a connected iPod.

To activate the rear USB bus power, you can follow the steps mentioned in the link from Apple below
http://support.Apple.com/kb/TS1401

You said Windows vista has no port of portable device normally, all portable devices are connected via a USB port and they appear under Bus USB controllers in Device Manager.

Step 2: reinstall the USB controllers.

First of all, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

1. click on 'Start', type device manager in the search bar and press "Enter." If necessary, click on continue.

2. in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right-click on the "host controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

3. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and windows will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

If the problem persists,

* Step 3:Download and install the latest drivers from the computer chipset laptop manufacturer s online.*

* So here I am with the issue still not resolved. * How can I download and install the latest chipset drivers for the Toshiba Satellite L300 & Microsoft Vista to recognize my ipod? *

Thanks in advance!

> 3:Download step and install the latest drivers for chipset on the website s laptop manufacturer.
> * so here the issue still not resolved. How can I download and install the latest chipset drivers > for the Toshiba Satellite L300 & Microsoft Vista to recognize my ipod?

Install a material like Everest home Edition or similar diagnostic tool.
This tool would enable details of the hardware on your laptop.
It lists all the devices and chipset name too.
I think that it s Intel chipset, so you can find the driver on the Intel page

  • Change HARD drive on Satellite L300 - Windows Vista need

    Hi all

My laptop hard drive is completely dead and the repair option didn't work.
I backed up all my data, etc., including the folder HDDRecovery and WinRE partition/folder.

This is a laptop Toshiba L300, which I bought in the United Kingdom (from the Toshiba online store) and I now live in China. I visited the workshop of local support from Toshiba in China, but they were unable to provide any assistance that offer me a disk empty (usually overpriced).

They said that they can not install anything because the model is different from those that are sold in China and the Windows Vista sticker is no more on the laptop (Vista sticker for a couple of years ago but I think it has never been a serial number).

Anyway, I didn't buy their hard drive and I didn't really get the original hard drive since that I didn't, and I decided to buy a hard drive from another brand for myself.

My question is: is it possible to install the Windows Vista (which I've already paid anyway) in my new hard drive? I don't know if it's relevant, but I will emphasize here that I saved my folder HDDRecovery both WinRE partition/folder. I'm not ready to re - buy Windows or buy the top-selling Toshiba Recovery disk. My plan is to install a Linux OS if Windows is no longer an option.

I could give you all the details of model and the order if necessary.

    Thank you
    Georgios

    > is there a way to install Windows Vista (which I've already paid anyway) in my new hard drive?
Yes, but you can do so via the original recovery DVD only.
Saved on external HARD drive recovery image is useless now. I put t understand why you didn t created recovery disk according to the instructions of Toshiba.

If you don t want to get Toshiba disc I recommend you to install the clean version of Win7. Your model of laptop is fully supported for Win7 and it works perfectly on your machne. I ve installed long ago on friends L300.

    Linux is also good alternative.

    It's your decision.

  • Satellite L300 Windows 7 64-bit loads very slowly

    Hi all

I recently bought a new Toshiba L300 and am very disappointed by his performance of loading.
Since when I log on windows right up until everything has finished loading (once that the side bar loaded with the clock) can take anything between 2-3 minutes!

I can't believe it's a portable very high specification. I have a desktop computer with half of the specification that will load in a few seconds!

    Everyone knows this or similar?
It doesn't seem to be a bit of software from toshiba that loads with windows like facial recognition, recall, etc. Health Center software.
Sew this be the problem? Surely it can't be slow down the loading process that can do a lot there.
Have thought to uninstall, I don't want to lose if this isn't the problem.

I ran the antivirus software and malware, even if my laptop is only a few weeks old, but alas no wer infections not found. My system spec is as follows:-

    Toshiba Satellite L300
    Windows 7 5.7 footnote reference
    Processor: Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU P7450 @2. 13 GHz
    4.00 GB RAM
    1 GB graphic Gforce
64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium operating system

I really hope someone can help before I go out my hair with this

    weired problem...

    Any help much appreciated.

    > I can't believe it's a portable very high specification. I have a desktop computer with half of the specification that will load in a few seconds!

And? Your desktop PC running Win 7 with all the features and applications like this laptop?
    I doubt!

    > It seems to be a bit of software from toshiba that loads with windows like facial recognition, recall, etc. Health Center software.
    > Could this be the problem?

Of course, the background process can affect startup performance and it is mainly the reason why it takes a little longer
First of all a media laptop most of the functions as a desktop PC.
Control buttons, FN keys, facial recognition, recall, etc. all this loading software health center software at the beginning! If you n t need this software can turn this off in msconfig-> Startup tab

Also an antivurs software can affect and increase startup time
I went from Symantec Avira antivir. Its free and don't have a lot of material resources

  • Satellite L300 Windows 7 to Vista with Toshiba Recovery CD

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 Series (2008 model) cell, which was originally Vista but I installed Windows 7 Professional on this topic. I would now like to go back to Vista.

I noticed that the "Windows.old" folder created on the c: / drive appears to be missing a lot of files and could have been modified since the date of that its creation. I think it would be too risky to use it to recover back to Vista.

So my question is can I use my original Toshiba Recovery DVD set to return to Vista? I want to do a full factory reset to restore my system when it was purchased with Vista.

If the recovery DVDs is not an option and was the only is by using the Windows.old folder, if it is missing important files so she could leave my corrupt system? I don't know there is a way to get back to Vista by restoring factory somehow.

    Comments and reactions to urgent!

    Thanks in advance.

    > So my question is can I use my original Toshiba Recovery DVD set to return to Vista?
Without a doubt. Only using original recovery disks you will have factory settings again.

  • Satellite L300 PSLBGE Vista 64bits - WLan disconnects at random times

    Hey,.

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L300 (PSLBGE series) computer laptop. It has 4 GB of RAM, so I installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64 on that.

Problem is that on the Toshiba site there are only drivers Vista32 and with those that I found online, the wireless adapter works, but it keeps disconnecting at random times. It works fine until it stops randomly, there is no message "Network cable" unplugged

He let go the IP address but I tried to keep a 'ping t' on and it gives "the request exceeded" for a period of time and then it comes back.

    What should I do?
    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, it would be interesting to know what you have exactly the WLan card.

I know you could use some WLan drivers from this Toshiba WLan page:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

In addition, I recommend turning off some options that affect the WLan in energy saving feature.

First turn off in energy-saving WLan card properties. (device-> card Manager WLan-> properties-> energy saving)
Then check the power options of Vista-> wireless adapter settings > power save Mode

Here this Toshiba doc could be useful for finding these settings:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm

Finally and above all the Advanced tab in-WLan card-> properties > Device Manager contains some useful WLan settings that might increase WLan performance

  • Satellite L300 - Windows does not recognize the connected device

I have Toshiba Satellite L300 series, PSLB8E. It came with a basic version of vista pre-installed window and it was working fine until I decided to update.

I took it to a computer for an upgrade store to ultimate window.
This version worked very well for a few weeks until I have received a message on the screen that says: 'I have to get a genuine copy of windows.

Because ever since I started having problems with my usb ports, my computer couldn't detect something I connect to it (usb, printer, mouse, etc.) he worked with modem only, sometimes it would open my external hard drive but it does not have its drivers.

I then decided to buy a window 7 home base, but instead of this problem will disappear, that it got worse as my usb ports completely stopped working.

I tried all the stuff I can think, but nothing has worked. the problem I have is that I don't have the original disc in Windows vista

    Someone please help!

I agree: installing drivers for Windows 7 is very important to get all devices work correctly. Windows 7 is much better than Vista OS and I don't see any reasons why your L300 Sat should not work properly with this Win 7 OS.

I recommend you to install the Windows 7 system again by install completely clean.
After that, download all drivers Toshiba Win 7 of the Toshiba UE driver page.

Very important are the drivers as value added package, Chip Set Utility, card reader controller, display driver, LAN driver, WLan, Sound Driver, Storage Manager and driver of the touchpad

  • Satellite L300-29U - Vista crashes, even in safe mode

Hi, I really hope there is someone out there who can help me, my laptop does not work (properly) more, and I don't know what is the cause.

    * The short version: *.

Two days ago my computer froze all of a sudden for no apparent reason. It did not (without Ctrl-Alt-Del, etc), I could only move the pointer. Since then, has happened repeatedly, even in safe mode. A potential clue: runs chkdsk c: \r \f results in a blue screen.

    * Details: *.

I have a Satellite L300-29U (about 3.5 years) with Windows Vista.
Two days ago the computer is not responding, after running normally for a few hours. I had not installed a new hardware or software. Even the clock had stopped. Only the pointer could be moved, but clicking on had no effect, or no has Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I stopped him via the power button. It restarted normally, I opened it then Firefox, but shortly after the same problem has emerged.
I selected the Mode without fail to start and then let my antivirus (Avira) program a complete check of the system. The computer froze again after about an hour and 30% in the analysis. (Curiously, the timer showing how much time had passed since the beginning of the analysis was still running, but had stopped the clock of the computer.)
Later, I tried another full analysis and again once it froze. Before that, I ran a few quick scan negative that came.

In general, I find that Windows starts fine, but in normal mode it freezes pretty quickly when I try to do something. In safe mode, it freezes more quickly, but it's still sometimes.

I also tried the "repair your computer" option at startup.
    -System Restore does not help
-Memory Diagnostic is not a problem

Searching online, I found suggestions for select command prompt and try to chkdsk. My conclusions:
-chkdsk c: /f gives no indication of errors. The only thing that might be unusual is the following message at the end (translated from Dutch): "cannot transfer the log to the event log messages. Status 50. »
-chkdsk c: /r /f results in a blue screen, each time to the same point in the process, namely, the 4th stage (verification of the data of the file), after having transformed the 133 634 files. The blue screen that appears shows the following:

    -----
    QUOTE
A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
    (...)
    Technical information: * STOP: 0 x 00008086 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
    WORDS
    -----

    * Things I have NOT tried (again): *.

-Execution of TOSHIBA hard drive recovery
    -Formatting the hard drive

Why not try these again is that I still have a glimmer of hope that he might be up to a corrupt file, and I don't want to use a gun if it turns out to be a mosquito.

I tried to look online for questions asked by people with problems and similar symptoms, but I find not only the case with some similarities, not exactly the same thing.

Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    > Two days my computer froze all of a sudden for no apparent reason
Above all it s sign parts hardware problem as a module of memory or the motherboard can cause this.

    > Since it happened repeatedly, even in safe mode. A potential clue: runs chkdsk c: \r \f results in a blue screen.

The command chkdsk access and HARD drive tests so it could also be that the HARD drive is the troublemaker.

From my point of view, you should start the recovery and should set the device to the factory settings.
If the device would not work even after you have used the factory condition, I guess that one of the mentioned parts malfunctions.

  • Re: Satellite A300 - Windows Vista cling - what can I do?

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 with operating system Windows Vista Home Edition.
After a few weeks of work with my laptop, it cling.
I reinstalled the OS but and it works fine for 1 or two months, then the laptop to hang again.
    October 2008, I bought this laptop and I reinstalled Vista 3 o 4 times.

    What can I do?

You mean that Vista does not answer after some time?
Well my friend, this may be a software problem.

I mean there is no quick fix for these issues, I assume that you have installed and used many different applications on this laptop.
It is possible that one of the applications is causing this problem
It would be also possible that entries in registry and system files have been changed during Microsoft updates

In my opinion, you must use some cleaning as for example the CCLeaner tools.
It s free and it cleans your registry and other files

You should also check the applications that are running while the system would begin to cling
Finally and above all I recommend you memory, you can run a memory test (www.memtest.org, www.memtest86.com) in order to find some problems of memory.

    Good luck

My Satellite L40 laptop was connecting to my network wireless perfectly since Christmas. But two days ago, it stopped! I can see the networks available on the laptop but when I try to connect I get the message "Windows cannot connect to the network. Following the link to "Diagnose the problem" has no useful effect.

Please go to the drivers Toshiba download page and download the latest Wlan driver for your wireless card installed, then remove the old driver and install a new one. It should work.

  • Satellite L300-110 Vista Downgrade to XP

("New" in a store), I bought a Toshiba Satellite 300-110 with Vista installed, discovered that Vista was not compatible with almost everything and wanted to XP on it. First of all, I tried to format C during execution of vista, Vista did me not think C since Vista format that I did not understand that I was trieing to remove Vista...

    Measures taken so far:
1 said the laptop in BIOS to restart on the CD/DVD
    2. the document in the format C (vista partition) completely using windows XP instalation CD.
    3. installed installed windows XP on 'SATA Compatibility Mode' (selected in the bios)
4 found that the SATA compatibility mode does not use my laptop computer quality because you need AHCI.
*(This means Windows XP is correctly installed on SATA _Compatibility_ mode, but i need instal XP on SATA _AHCI_ mode, which is Far Better) *.
5A tried to install XP on the SATA AHCI mode, but then at the launch of the instalation, I got a blue screen that says there is something wrong with my hard drive.
    6. I discovered that there is a necessary AHCI driver before you can install XP
    7. I found the right drivers on the internet and used Nlite to make a new windows XP install CD which includes the correct drivers.
    8. now, I came to a new blue screen. It is said (in Dutch): + Setup can not find support for the by you advised the massive savings devices + (I think it means: he can not find the drivers for my hard drive). + Installation will now installation support for the following mass rescue: + (located below :) (which means) +< none="">. +.
+ Press E if you want to install additional SCSI adapters, disks cd-rom-stations or special controllers for use with windows. Also if you have a record of support for devices of the plant's massive savings. +
+ Press ENTER if you have no record of factory support of devices for registration of mass, or when you do not want to insert any additional devices to save mass. +
I think that's the point where I have to insert the drivers, but are in fact the drivers already on my CD of instalation XP Nlite.

So: My hard drive does not have a problem because I can still boot XP compatibility mode.
There is a problem with the SATA AHCI driver that must be installed before installing XP defenitely. I'm afraid that the laptop does not have the AHCI driver, but the laptop try just instal XP directly.
The new XP installation CD is supposed to work very well. Anyone has a suggestion, how to install the SATA AHCI driver first?

    Hello

I m not a L300 owner but I was able to install Win XP using AHCI on my Satellite U400 mode.
The point is that you should pass first to AHCI mode in BIOS before you try to install Win XP with SATA drivers!

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Storage Manager! You can find it on the European driver Toshiba page.
The use of nLite is really good idea I did too and it worked!

Integrate the drivers SATA (from Intel Storage Manager) in the new drive for Win XP
Switch to the AHCI (save the changes made in the BIOS)
Then start using a new Win XP drive.

Notes; Win XP it contains at least SP2
