Satellite L300D - own generation has a virus

Hello

I rebuilt a L300D since the restoration of Toshiba HDD to "like new" image

The laptop is infected with the Google redirect virus! I did another restored to "like new" image, and again, the virus to redirect Google is present. (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Web%20Search/thread?tid=6df7e15519290612&hl=en)

When I did restore the second time, I did not any network connectivity until I had made the object of many resets and engaged in all settings and registration popups (don't sign up of course, since he was in offline mode). McAfee settings were part of this reboot sequence, and McAfee reports that the computer is protected - I took care of this before I put it online.

As soon as I activated the WIFI, connected to my network, performed the first Google search (search term 'Facebook') and clicked on the first link returned, shots of virus and I have sent to a spam site.

If I try the same search again, this time it works. If I restart and try again once I get the problem.

How the laptop can be infected with the virus before it is even connected to the internet? And before that it was all traffic on the internet other than whatever the default version is designed to do?

I have another laptop on the same WIFI network and it has no problem with this at all. The WIFI network is secure.

This one has really left me speechless - I have never seen a Trojan virus that does not require a horse! Not to mention one that can infect a computer which is in force, all new and has not undertaken an online business.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you
R

Hello

The whole story is a bit strange. My advice is to remove mcaffee and install another antivirus kapersky, Nod 32 or avira.

    Hello!
I'm really having a hard time looking for drivers for xp for my laptop. I demoted it from Vista and can't find anywhere I looked. I have found that the Ethernet driver. Cannot find the drivers on the official website. (at least the I can't)
Anyone would be willing to help?

    Hello

Although I wouldn't normally recommend this method you can try to install the Windows XP drivers for other models L300D laptop. If these do not work, then contact your dealer or support of Toshiba and ask them if they know that if all Windows XP drivers will be provided in the future for your computer model. your laptop seems to be a new model, so maybe it's a matter of waiting a few months for that to happen. I suggest you check the drivers on all driver Toshiba USA, Toshiba Canada and Toshiba Europe sites.

    hope this helps

  • Satellite L300D - TEMPRO alert reader D capacity WARNING

I have a Satellite L300D. It has been little used, but I get TEMPRO alert that says that "data stored on drive D has reached 75 percent or more capacity: space 149,01 GB total disk and disk space GB 37.73.»

Can anyone tell what it is and I can do something to free disk space.
I tried to find "Disk D" on the laptop without success-it is not mentioned in the backup/restore windows.
    Thank you very much

In my opinion there is no reason to panic. This is just information and you must not take it so seriously. Continue to use the free space on the D partition. When the disk is full, you must find new option for backing up the data.
For this application, you can buy external HARD drive and move all your important data to make the free space on the HARD drive for the use of every day.
    That's all!

TEMPRO is application that runs in the background and informs the user about available updates or situation on your laptop. To be honest I don't use it at all because I know when the HARD drive is filled or not. I have Tempro removed from the system.

My laptop works well and stable. So it works well I have need of updates.

This drive letter and other parameters can just confuse you.
Simply continue to use your laptop and be happy with it.

  • Update for Windows 7 and BIOS on Satellite L300D-23D

    Hello guys

I ' v just installed Windows 7 32-bit on Toshiba Satellite L300D-23D, I has not installed the update to the BIOS, but everything works fine.
    Can I update the BIOS?
    Thanks in advance.

If everything works well I don't think that you need a BIOS update.
I have Satellite A300 with old BIOS and use Win7 too. No problem at all.

So that everything goes well, I have not yet thinking about the update of the BIOS.
Do not touch the well-executed system. ;)

  • Satellite L300D begins only after the battery has been drained and recharged

I have a satellite L300D that has a problem at startup. Last week, it closed but got stuck on the "Disconnect" screen for a long time. Finally I manually turn it off by holding down the power button. Don't think no more of him it happened sometimes with my computers. However, when I went to turn it back on - it was nothing. Power lights came to the front of the computer, but not to screen at all. Could not even access the BIOS. Nothing. It was like that for several days.

Tried all the common solutions - removed battery, disconnect the power supply and press the power button - still nothing. Tried w/o - just AC, just the battery. Even stripped down to the motherboard to see if I could remove the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS but it is soldered on the motherboard. Put all back together, still nothing.

Finally, I had to recharge my cell phone using a USB adapter and given that the computer had power I tried the usb port and it worked (for example, I could charge the phone - still no screen on the computer). The computer's battery is dead and I plugged it in. That evening, after the battery was full, I tried the computer and it has perfectly worked. Started correctly, shut it down, restarted and it was fine. Unplugged this night there and reconnected again in the morning and... nothing. Just a black screen. No BIOS.

Killed the battery again then reloaded and now my computer is working again.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion her only the only one you can is update the BIOS like Akuma suggested. This problem is not related software so that s the only option you have I think. You can download the latest version of the BIOS here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If this is not the case, contact an authorized service provider please. Guys can fix all this hardware related problems can diagnose this problem. Maybe the motherboard or something else must be exchanged.

    Good luck! :)

  • Re: Is my Satellite L670D-13F has a virus?

    Hello

My nice newish L670D-13F is currently unusable and I wonder if he has a virus?

When I turn it on only about a millimeter of the Toshiba logo flashes upward, then appear in the start bar and the logo of Microsoft but a blink jittering way then all color disappears from the screen and remains white for a few moments then the screen goes black and the windows tune time and four colored globes appear but a very distorted way then all the colors in the new screen fades goes black then the slider appears, but wobbly extended way, screen fades etc etc.

This happened a week ago, but when I went there the next day he behaved normally and advised me to use the system restore which I did and the computer performed normally for a few days but then it happens again but has not started up normally and is now unusable by pressing the keys has no effect at all.

Sorry for my description, I'm sure you can guess that I am not at all "grumpy"!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

To me, it looks more like a hardware problem and not a virus problem.
Maybe the graphics card begins to malfunction. Check the laptop to an external display.
If the same graphic question would be available on the external monitor, then it would mean that this could be a hardware problem; Maybe a graphics card problem.

  • Satellite L300D - how to reinstall Vista

    Hello

    I own a Toshiba Satellite L300D.
I met recently several virus horse Trojan that may not allow me to access the internet I get the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
I also frequently get a blue screen after that my profile was load at startup saying that there was a physical memory dump.

Currently, I have family vVsta premium, but have managed to get their hands on a vista enterprise that I want to erase my hard drive.

The only problem is that when I go in the Boot Manager, I can't find an option to do this.
    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD drive if the Vista is running!
If you want to format and install the new Vista operating system, then you must take a new disk of Vista and have to boot from that disk.
Then the procedure of installation, and you must follow the on-screen installation instructions.
Usually MS Vista asks you where you want to install the operating system and if you want to format the HARD drive.

PS: Id you would use the disk Microsoft Vista then you should change in the mode of AHCI SATA compatible BIOS.

In addition, I doubt that the BSOD was caused by the virus or Trojan horse. The BSOD appears mainly due to a software or hardware failure serious

  • Satellite L300D - necessary recovery image

    Hello

I'm trying to restore my laptop to factory settings. It's a Toshiba Satellite L300D and recently it has been infected by the virus of security 2011 windows vista.
It still works in SafeMode with networking, and safe mode but I n t want to run the risk of more. I tried years ago to make a recovery DVD, but it never worked.

Now, I tried to retrieve from the hard drive, but he said, he cannot locate HDD 1 and recommended to try to remove the partition numbers which is something that I put t really understand.
Anyway that I can't get back to factory settings.

Is this what can I do to get my hands on a recovery image or address this issue. Any help welcome. Thank you

Recovery image is designed for the specific cell phone model.
Recovery image contains the operating system, all the drivers needed for some hardware platform and all the other extra stuff like tools and utilities.
You can try to install this image of recovery of your brother, but I can't say for sure it will work 100%. It can happen that OS load and after a few seconds the blue screen.

Look, if you like your laptop and you want to use some time, pay the 30 euro for the original recovery disc and problem is solved.
Otherwise, I must say that this old L300D works well with Windows 7 then maybe it would be a good solution for install you Win7 and have much better OS than Vista old. It is, of course, the most expensive option.

At the end is only your decision what to do.

You can download it at Toshiba: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com-online support => Toshiba download drivers

I read the error and I think that it might be a problem with your HARD drive.

  • Re: Why is it so hard to find drivers for a Satellite L300D-11V

I recently acquired a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300D-11V to my daughter when she was upgraded to a netbook. It had Vista on it and I tried to installed Windows 7. I've never owned a notebook pc before, only a desktop pc; and they have never been through an OEM like Toshiba, but is built for me or by me. I bought Windows 7 and here, asked if he had any tips to install the drivers on my laptop Toshiba.

Windows installs all drivers actually when it installs. Not the best that you not understand, or later, but enough so that everything works.

I had problems but try to update of maps, graphics and imaging (webcam) devices. Windows gave a dated 2008 latest ATI driver accredited a pilot signed for the ATI Radeon X 1250. After a few searches through Toshiba, I managed to update this for 2009. But it took 2 days to research before finding what I think is the last Catalyst (and last?) ATI Radeon X 1200 series v.8.593.100.0 dated the 10.02.2010. Unless of course you know better... ??
The webcam Chicony USB 2.0 CNF7051 is something else.

The drivers for this camera software might work when installed by Toshiba with all the other stuff of Toshiba, and they resolutely refuse to work if you remove the software of all Toshiba with a clean install of Windows 7. The camera works you understand with other software; Messenger or Skype; but on its own... no! I managed to remove the message "the pilot was able to start" and thought that I had a crush, but I now have a message "webcam disabled or has failed.

At least he does when you try to start the software, not on every start at the beginning. So I'll stick to this... unless of course... ??
At times like this I realize why I buy a machine no OEM and install my own operating system and the latest drivers, not the old ones that are provided and not updated by OEM.

In my opinion, it is not difficult to find drivers for Toshiba laptops. You just look for the right place.

Many people with European models of research pilot on the US page and I was wondering why they can't get good portable.

I assume you have the European model so you'll find drivers on Toshiba are supported on the page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.
