Satellite L300D (PSLC8C-06T01R) - upgrade of BIOS 1.80 stopped my wireless

Ok. So, my fan was going constantly at high speed, and I know that the BIOS upgrade is a fix for this. So, I updated my BIOS to version 1.80, who on the site Web of Toshiba for my model, says that it is for all models of L300D. The update went well and my laptop restarted in great Vista. BUT now, my wireless is not working. He appears in the Manager of devices like OK and is activated.

When I try to connect to a network, he said that it is impossible to find more networks. It no longer displays same wireless anywhere. I logged a ticket with Toshiba that it lift on the 2nd level, but have yet to receive a call back from them. I can't find the original file from revision of the BIOS try flashing it back either or I would try to find the BIOS 1.80 rev has problems. I have NOT tried reimage yet and do not want to do it unless it's my last alternative. Before anyone asks, yes the wireless switch is on the front and yes it is activated with Fn + F8.

Anyone had this same problem? If so, do you have a solution for this?

Update, I noticed in the BIOS there is NO wireless network settings. Now, it has only a selection onboard network. Seems that Toshiba removed from this update of the BIOS. Now, I need roll back BIOS BUT I can't find the file! UGH! Does anyone know where I could find the BIOS version 1.6 for this model?

Hello

The default settings in the BIOS load after this update?

Make sure that the WLAN is enabled and therefore use the material combination switch and the FN + F8 key.

By the way: is the LOCAL network card recognized in the Device Manager right now?

    Hello

To me, this looks like a serious hardware problem.
If you are not able to reinstall the operating system on the HARD drive then some of the equipment should work.
It of difficult to say what role could be faulty we can assume only what could be wrong

If the BSOD appears the first part that should be checked is RAM module.
The faulty RAM memory may be the reason for BSOD and therefore, it would be interesting to know if the new RAM would solve this problem
You can delete only one module of RAM and could try to start the laptop comes with an installed module.

If it doesn't, then you need a help of a technician for laptop

  • Satellite L300D BSOD after upgrade to Windows 7

I got this laptop (Satellite L300D) for a little more than a year with windows vista (32-bit) running and there were no problems. However, I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 (x 64) and became the problems since the first reboot.

On the first reboot after installing windows 7, the computer off just after the "Starting Windows" screen Turn on again took me to the repair of the system where he performed a system restore and I was able to start successfully even once. I thought that the problem had something to do with the automatic updates, so I disabled the and tried to restart to see if the problem has been corrected. This time, after the "Starting Windows" screen I got a BSOD of unrecoverable system error. After several attempts to reboot and multiple attempts to repair system (which usually says she didn't) it started correctly again.

This problem has been going for about 3 weeks now and it is quite irritating. The results of the system of compensation for claims that a "Boot critical file is corrupt", but it starts eventually after several attempts to start. He also has a habit of turning at random during the race (it happens about once or twice a day). So from now on, whenever I chaque fois que je tente tries to start my computer it shuts down after the start screen or give the BSOD and restarts and the only way to make it work seems to be to keep trying to start and hope for a successful boot of the system upward (this happens finally after a few failed attempts).

I did some research on this and came to [this | 1251 http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=L300D-ST3501&rpn=PSLC8U&category=&selCategory=3&moid=222 & os = & ct = DL & selFamily = 1073768663] page. I think that's exactly what my problem is (need to update the BIOS), but if I understand correctly installing windows to do this only for 2000/xp/vista and I am unable to use the second option to boot from the disc as I get the BSOD before he gets to that point. I should try the windows install option although I am running windows 7 or is there another way to update the BIOS? Or I'm off completely and the problem is with something else?

I wasn't sure what information I would like to add to this post so if need more information please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

Edit: Oops, just realized the page I linked is not link to exactly what I had opened. I do not speak of 'critical BIOS updates for Windows 7 64-bit' under 'support form '.

    Hello

First of all, it would be interesting to know what code BSOD, you get exactly. Can you post this information useful? Normally, on the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you can find additional information about most of the BSOD codes and so you can start to solve this problem.

BSODS are often associated with drivers or RAM/HDD. The latter, you can check with special diagnostic tools, Memtest86 for RAM and Drive Fitness Test for the HARD drive. These two tools are free and you can find it using Google. You can download an iso image of them to create a bootable media where you can start the test.

Regarding your update to the BIOS: I put t know what L300D you have exactly, but according to the Toshiba site it shows an update of the BIOS also for Windows 7 64-bit. You can try to install it.

  • Satellite S3000 - X 4: upgrading the Bios?

    Hello

Please can you give me some advice on upgrading my bios for Toshiba Satellite S3000 - X 4. I have read all the instructions on this operation, but unfortunately this notebook is never come with a floppy drive, is there anyway that I can upgrade the Bios, so I can install the video drivers?

I would be very grateful to anyone who can solve this problem for me.

    Hello

    Please visit this site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

You can find a BIOS version 1.6. This BIOS has been changed to 08.01.03

On this site you will find descriptions; How to upgrade the BIOS

But note; You only put the upgrade of the BIOS if you have serious problems with the laptop and if you 100% know if the BIOS update will solve this issues.
The procedure to upgrade the BIOS isn't very easy. The incorrect procedure may damage the motherboard. In this case, be careful.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

  • Satellite U300 - how to upgrade the BIOS on a Linux system?

Attempt to update the BIOS of my U300-153, which is described as an operating system independent on the download page, I find that the upgrade file is provided in
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/BIOS-20090304140640.zip
does not include the files to create a bootable CD, as described in the instructions to the
    IOS http://eu.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/FAQ.jsp?z=234&service=eu&from=faq_selection&CFID=B & FID = TRO0000000b07
where Option 2 step 2 lists the files that are in the zip, and they are required to make a bootable cd. The files listed are not in the zip.

It forces me to use Windows. My Windows is broken and I can't fix it, because Windows repairs destroy data (clearly indicated on the packaging of recovery CD) and installations of Linux. My Linux works very well, and I don't want the windows more.

So how can I upgrade the BIOS? Either:
    1. use a true independent bundle of BONES (ie the promised approach of bootable CD). I can't find such a thing here.
2 reinstall Windows, which trashes the laptop.

    Any suggestions?

    Sincerely,
    Aleksander K

    > How to upgrade the BIOS on a Linux system?

  • Re: Satellite L300D and Win7 - cannot find the WLAN driver

I have the Satellite L300D (PSLC8C-06T01R) I just got this in the month; I decide to put Windows 7 on thinking there would be all the necessary drivers. Well I was wrong; Once I installed 7 we find all drives but the wireless card. I don't then told me the Vista disks would work on Windows 7 so I tried and no luck, I then put Vista on and everything was fine, then when I went to look for the driver for the wireless card in Vista, it doesn t do anything the card is always 'does not work correctly.

Vista Atheros wireless drivers or something else on the site Web of Toshiba don t do anything.

If anyone has the same problem made me know, or if anyone knows how to fix this or even if it is possible to find the drivers for windows 7 that would be great cuz that s my goal (Windows 7)

Please as soon as possible I need this laptop at the University.

For me, it makes sense to collect all relevant information before you do something again. Obviously you didn't check before installing Win7 Toshiba support page. Until that Win7 is not released Toshiba will offer no tricks of Win7.

As I see you have Canadian cell phone model and I don't know what WLAN card is inside, but in your a story thing confused me. You have installed Vista again. I assume you have done this with original Toshiba recovery image. This recovery image is designed for certain model of laptop and contains all the necessary drivers for all hardware components. I don't understand what the problem with the wireless network card.
I have to ask you if you have installed Vista with the Toshiba recovery image?

  • Satellite L300D - can't watch movies using a Toshiba DVD player

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300D - 12L and the toshiba dvd player has stopped working.

The laptop is always able to recognize the dvd as the 'AutoPlay' box appears when a DVD is inserted and says ' DVD RW drive (e :)) "at the top of the follow-up to the title of the film.
I then click on 'play the DVD using a DVD TOSHIBE movie'... and nothing happens.

I tried several different DVD, which I know work in other laptops or DVD players.
I tried by following this link...

    http://www.TechSpot.com/VB/topic27616.html

and deleted the lowerfilters and upperfilters but that cause problems and I had to perform a system restore.
I'm running out of ideas and I would like to be able to watch DVD on my laptop again because I don't have a TV or a DVD player.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the CD-DVD drive can read the disc, but it seems that the Toshiba DVD Player cannot play video files

Then maybe you should try to play the DVD using other software like Windows Media Player or VLC player download VLC player this small software and install it
Then try to play the movie

I recommend also to install the tool called DVD Player Update Check Tool that you find on the European driver Toshiba page.

With this tool, you can check your laptop, if your DVD player needs an upgrade and if so, it gives you the download link for version upgrade needed.

now, the unit does not come on at all - I'm trying to restore it to work but it is impossible to find a copy of the bios file updated (from the active windows self-extracting program Toshiba update bios) during installation
(I tried to extract it on another pc that the portable original is a brick now but still no luck)

I was able to confirm that I can get the system to the laptop using the CRC, but I need a copy of the * original * BIOS that came with these units so I can reflash.
does anyone have a copy of the original bios this device before you apply this update (ver. 1.8 2009-10-27)?

Please note that I was not myself tried this update of the BIOS, so I don't have a copy of the original anywhere.

Can you send me a copy please?

    Thnaks a lot

    Hi lostboy77,

BIOS reflash is possible only to an authorized service. If the BIOS update has filed, you can do nothing. :(

I know it's hard to hear, but you must understand that the update of the BIOS is always somewhat risky and if it wasn t flashed correctly, your laptop won't boot any more. So it of not so easy a Windows Update

So I went to the Toshiba Site and I downloaded an updated BIOS yesterday and installed even today, during installation the PC frooze.
I left it on and it stayed like that for four hours, then it turns off.

Now, when I turn it on all that I get is the fan turns to nothing else.
The powerleader was connected to the laptop all the time.

Do you have any ideas on what I can do, I have heaps on the laptop I would not loose.

Model is PSLC9E Satellite Pro L300D

The case is clear buddy update the BIOS has no procedure
Perhaps the BIOS might not be updated correctly because the laptop crashed until the update procedure could be completed.

Well, I can tell you that you will not be able to fix it yourself it's a serious issue and ONLY the ASP (certified partner) would be able to help you!

So contact the ASP technician and ask for later handling.
