  Recently I thought it would be better to download the latest drivers and upgrades for my Satellite pro L40 to keep up-to-date and partners the laptop that works smoothly. So I downloaded the update of the Bios on the Toshiba site, unzipped the files and followed the online instructions for updating the BIOS. In the instructions, it says that I have to press F2 now and confirm that the date and time are correct. I should then press F9 to load all the default values and then press F10 to save and exit. At this point, the laptop must away to the loading screen, but... I got a black screen. IV turned off the computer and turn it back on, but still, I get a blank screen. The lights are on but know one's home.

  To be honest, it is not easy to discuss about this because a lot of people on this forum with a similar or same problem reacts quite aggressive if they don t hear exactly the thing they want to hear.

  In any case, I just want to write my comment. Don t be worried about photos and other important data. You can remove the laptop HARD drive, put it in a small box of HDD SATA 2.5 and connect the HARD drive to the other PC / laptop as external device. You will have full access to all stored data. So you can do the backup.

  So I think that BIOS update is not available at this time for you. European and Australian models have different model numbers, so I doubt that the update of the BIOS is always the same. The pieces of equipment may also be different.

  I have Toshiba laptop Satellite P300 (PSPCCE) with Vista and the latest patches installed.
  Everything was working ok until I installed the last set of patches, has been the Tempro alert about them. I installed the new BIOS (3.40) and card drivers his (Conexant 4.83.1.0) and now all the minutes I see spike high CPU spike freezing enemy of system one or two seconds.

  I think that you should use the most recent version and it s a v4.83.1.0. It seems that the v4.36.10.0 was published also, but in this case, it s always recommended to take a newer version.

  With regard to the system of freezing for a second or two:
  I think that this might be related to some background processes. Perhaps a process that runs in the context of the Vista operating system causes this tiny interruptions.

  Of my knowledge tool Tempro runs in the background and scans the system and HARD drive.
  You can check the processes in MSCONFIG and if necessary may disable some of the trials.

  Yes, the old drivers work with a new BIOS. A new version of the BIOS only updates something in the BIOS and don't CHANGE not the entire system, you cannot use your existing drivers more.

  I put upgraded my CPU to an AMD X 4 945.  My motherboard requires a BIOS update to accept the new processor.  I have a commercial version of OEM of Vista 32 installed and have the DVD to reinstall from.  Will I be possible to reactivate the operating system with the new processor and the new installed BIOS?  I know that the new motherboards are a new PC and so the OEM license is inavalidated, but it is just the CPU and the motherboard BIOS so I'm not sure.

  Hi all

  I'm trying to fix Satellite L350-277 of my sister-in-law following a HARD drive failing. Before the crash, he was running Win7 Home Premium (32 bit) that was preinstalled on the HARD drive. I managed to run Belarc on it before it went completely, but could not create the restore disc in time.

  Disk failure HARD seems to be due to bad sectors and once failed, could not get past startup repair. While they were inspecting HARD drive (in the USB enclosure), both C: and D: (backup partition) appeared to be intact, so guessed was discussed with MBR. I have used Clonezilla to clone new HARD drive and I'm now work - failure of HARD drive it's always like it was incase I need to clone again.

  With the HARD drive clone, I first tried to use bootrec.exe but some successful how to 'break' C: and could not see anything in the score.

  BTW I am currently using a copy of DVD retail Win 7 to provide the functions of "restore". However the Toshiba restore capabilities do not appear in the list of options. So I decided then to install everything on C: retail copy to see if I could access toshiba restore functions using data in D:, that doesn't seem to work either.

  Then I stumbled on this thread that gave me the hope to be able to start the Toshiba recory tool:

  I was hoping that Vista and Win7 preinstalls would be very similar, but the HARD drive has a recovery partition (D:\ HDDRecovery) and seems to fall in step 13. There are two files boot.wim in this partition: 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\sources\boot.wim' and 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\hddprep\sources\boot.wim '.   That s a little confused is your story...

  Normally you get factory settings if you are using the Toshiba recovery disc. It will restore the pre-installed Windows version that came with your laptop.

  If you have Windows 7, you can t create a Toshiba Recovery disk. Only possible on what s preinstalled Windows from Toshiba, but if you install your own copy, you can create such a floppy.
