Satellite L350D - very little signs of life

Hi all

I'm trying to fix my dad's laptop computer but have problems.
Initially, he had questions of power, have to move around the power cable for the laptop to launch.
Eventually it stopped working. I took a peek and saw that the socket in the laptop has become loose so when the power cable is plugged in it just pushed the loose connector in the case.
I disassembled the phone enough power back the socket where it should be, but the laptop still does not fire, even if the card will now correctly.

There is no light anywhere, and no sign of activity, with the exception of small wireless light near the bottom of the laptop, just in front. Whenever I connect the power, this wifi light flashes.
Surely, this proves that the power is in the machine.

If anyone has any ideas as to what I can try to get it working again, I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

I agree with you that this means that the laptop is powered and I think that the problem isn t connected to the main power supply.
I guess it must be a serious problem with the motherboard or part (CPU, memory) connected to the motherboard.

The RAM modules are easy to replace. If you have some RAM modules spare good work, you could test it in unity Satellite L350

    Help.

Hey Dudu (nice name as a beatle vw :-))

I would recommend the external monitor to check if it s only a bad configuration monitor, screen dead or something wrong with the graphics card.
If you see something on the screen then please check if you switch to the external display device. But if all the parameters are good, and you will be see on the screen of the laptop and the external display, so I guess there must be something wrong with the graphics card.

  • Satellite L350D - Setup Wizard and not installed corectly

I have a Satellite L350D which came with Windows Vista installed but that you have upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium.

Last week, I tried to install the software for a Philips VOIP151 Skype phone and the driver for the webcam built-in Chicony. In each case the installation launches, and then I get a message that the program may not have installed correctly and I would like to reinstall it with the recommended settings. I chose this; the installation starts and then everything just stops. Nothing happens, and finally, after waiting a very long time, I have to assume that it does not work. Because this sequence occurred during attempts to install two very different elements, I guess the problem is with the installation wizard.
And, Furthermore, the software for Philips phone has already been installed successfully on this laptop, but has been uninstalled. He was also recently installed correctly on another laptop.

    Any ideas?

    Hi ax2010,

Your ad is a little confusing. You have this problem with the driver for Philips Skype phone or is it with the Toshiba webcam driver?

  • Satellite L350D - 12 M - disk space on drive F is at critical level of 90%

    Hello

Its my first post on the forum so I hope that makes sense. I have very little knowledge of the workings of computers and would make more assessments and listen to the music than anything else. I am able to download and transfer stuff from camera etc. but this is concerning as it goes.

Here is the question and I apologize now if it seems a bit simple.

As he says in the subject I have a Satellite L350D - 12M and I have a tempro alert that drive F is at a critical level of 90%.

I have windows vista and when I click on computer it shows the following drives C:Vista, D: Data rewriting E:DVD.

I can not find drive F and wonder what is it and why is it 90%?

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

    Concerning

    mummyspud

    Hello

I think that drive F is a hidden partition.
On this score, you can find the backup files need Vista to Vista repair function.
This function can be used if something was wrong with the Vista operating system and it needs a repair

I think that you could see all the partitions on the HARD disk in Vista disk management.

  • Questions about the record HDD Recovery - Satellite L350D

    Hello everyone!

I have a Satellite L350D with Windows Vista.
I'm in my mind to reinstall.
All my data from the two partitions are saved with the exception of a folder on my drive E Data "HDDRecovery" who shouldn't be modyfied or deleted, or whatever.

I wonder if all the data are removed from the hard disk due to formatting, how does appear that this same folder HDDRecovery remains safe on the hard drive?
Or is that the hard drive is not really formatted and data on my hard drive are always safe and hidden?

    Thank you for answers!

    Hello

I'll try to explain how it works.

Original Toshiba designed for your laptop recovery image is recorded on the second partition in the file called HDDRecovery. This image should be used if you want to install OS and have the original state factory.

For this installation, you can use this recovery image of the second partition or by using the recovery DVD. It is recommended to everyone to create this recovery DVDs. Have you created?

If you use recovery DVD the whole HARD disk will be formatted and all data stored thereon will be removed.
If you start the HARD drive recovery process only C partition is removed. This folder HDDRecovery is important if you only want to use HARD drive recovery facility. When you want to use the DVD only you can remove (I do not recommend you to do).

I hope I could help a little, but if you have any other questions please let us know.

  • Satellite L350D - overheated, motherboard fade

    Hello
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L350D, I got a year ago when it overheated and stopped. It would not start, and I sent it to a technician of will be checked. According to the technician he had overheated and the motherboard is melted. It was out of warranty and the guy was going to fix it with a new motherboard for £100.

Does this sound right? It will be ok with a new motherboard or would I better get a new laptop?

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, I think it's important to know why it has overheated. Second, I'm not very familiar with your laptop, but I don't think you can find a new motherboard for it for 100pounds.
Why do you have only 1 year warranty? For about 2 years, I know that they were supposed to offer minimum 2 years warranty.
If you can fix it for 100 pounds so it is not worth investing in a new. Only if you opt for an upgrade.

    Good luck!

  • Prozessor Exchange on Satellite L350D - 20 p

    Hello
    The processor of my Satellite L350D - 20 p
    NO 99146058Q-series
    is defective.
Please which processors can be used for this laptop?

I searched a lot, apparently, there is this laptop in different versions.
I don't know what are the processors can be used.

    Thanks for the help: Schwenk

    Hello

The replacement of the CPU is delicate!
I can tell you a few facts:

Laptop manufactures don't support upgrade CPU because of serious reasons.
But in some cases the CPU would be possible in the case of the chipset and BIOS support the new processor.
The model L350D - 20 p was equipped with a Dual-Core AMD Athlon X 2 processor. In this case, you can only use the AMD CPUS, Intel processors would not work.

What AMD processor could be used?
To be honest I n know and I guess no one can tell you exactly what AMD processors work with certainty due to the compatibility of the BIOS.

But you should absolutely consult AMD processors, which are part of the same family.

However, I do not recommend to do a CPU upgrade. Why? Because you won't see a performance gain. The performance increase is not noticeable.

But you would notice performance upgrade using SSD drive instead of the HARD disk.
I did these updates on my laptop and was very surprised by the performance gain.

  • Dead by Satellite L350D after installing Win7

    Hello

Sorry if this has been asked before - I had a quick glance is a big big forum...

My Tosh Satellite L350D worked very well but had Vista OS (everything is said!)

I ran a disc to upgrade to Windows 7 (32 bit) everything seems to be okay. After installation, the first thing I did was visit the Toshiba support for the graphics driver that I found, unpacked and loaded.

At the end of installation, I was invited to reboot (it would be the first restart of the Win7 installation).

He stops and died. The power light lights up but no disks don't spin up, no screen, no fan, nothing. I can stick to my ear, but nothing makes a sound.

I can put in an operating system recovery disc (known to be good) and it runs briefly for a few seconds, but that's all.

All I can think is somehow I killed the BIOS - any ideas how I can get this person?

    Thank you

It's really stupid situation now. All you did was just and I can't imagine that the display driver Toshiba killed BIOS even if the symptoms are the same when the BIOS is damaged.

Please do that Akuma wrote and post comments.

  • Satellite L350D-118 - WiFi connection is not stable

    Instability of satellite L350D - 118 RTL8187b Wireless

Since the first unstable connection. Closes in 30 minutes, sometimes repair itself.
My other laptops have a stable connection.
Each wireless connection is stable, this is not.

Configurations are substantially the same... my ISP says that there is a problem with the wifi on the laptop itself.

Windows Vista 32, have reinstalled the drivers several times, same Windows Update did a reinstall.
Problem remains. Everything looks ok accept the title of the pilot, he says: it's USB 2.0 when it is internal.

    Someone at - it solutions?
This machine is very good on other aspects, but I'll have to return if this problem cannot be solved...

    Hello

Maybe you need to download the Realtek page Realtek WLan card driver directly?
    To do this, and check!

Then I recommend you to check the settings in the Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card.
Disable energy saving settings and check if you might improve performance by changing some settings.

Another idea would be the update of the BIOS. Check if a newer version is available on the page of Toshiba Europe.
    If yes-> updated!

  • Satellite L350D-PSLE4E - keyboard failure

    Hello

Keyboard of my laptop Satellite L350D-PSLE4E has recently stopped working properly (a few weeks after that 12 months extended warranty!). The keys are not totally insensitive, occasionally press key is recognized as such to the screen, but very much when there is zero critical functions.

Also the mouse pad has a failure, the movement of mouse pad is fine, but when you hover over an icon and press the key to access the icon or tap twice nothing happens. I restore access to tap on the mouse pad at some point, but he still lost.

Another thing I noticed, when I accessed to the internet as soon as the prompt is displayed, the number '6' appears time and again in the sweet spot. This seems to happen as it seems on every new page with a command prompt type top.

Another thing I noticed is that the sound is destorted too.

I ran search viruses without any result, checked the drivers are running and up to date so that I have the latest version of the BIOS on my system.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    > Keyboard of my laptop Satellite L350D-PSLE4E has recently stopped working properly (a few weeks after that 12 months extended warranty!). The keys are not totally insensitive, occasionally press key is recognized as such to the screen, but very much when there is zero critical functions.

Related question sounds more like keyboard as a software failure. To my eyes, the keyboard material must be checked but I think you need to replace it.

    > Also the mouse pad has a failure, the movement of mouse pad is fine, but when you hover over an icon and press the key to access the icon or tap twice nothing happens. I restore access to tap on the mouse pad at some point, but he still lost

You can use double click of the buttons on the touchpad instead strike the surface of the touchpad?
What happens if you set the tab double again in Control Panel-> mouse-> device settings?
Check if updating driver of the touchpad or new facility could help you.

But overall, I would recommend to recover the laptop and test once more.
In many cases damaged BONES can cause many problems then it of certainly worth a try

  • Few questions about 2 x new Satellite L350D

    Hello

Just in 2 notebooks of Toshiba Satellite L350D - 12 m, the other is Satellite L350-170.
I now hit that is an Intel dual core and now breath cold air on the side and still the other laptop is an AMD dual core and it still blows hot air also I have two laptops there is a lot of garbage from Toshiba.

Buy a recovery media that will restore only Vista and not all the trial software? I wish I could install WXP. I have the CD of facilities, but cannot find the serial number.
If anyone can give me any help on these questions on can I remove, I would be very happy.

Things like configfree do I need and I also have on my d hhdrecovery drive. It s almost 6 GB.
I can modify it in any way to remove the track from office and other rubbish, and one last question I paragon backup drive so if I backup c now and xp fails somehow I can just restore to vista?

    Thank you

To be honest I don't know what you want about cold or hot air with description. The fact is that portable equipment heat and laptop be cooled properly. The heat from the laptop is depends on its use. As you probably know when you use applications heavy CPU and GPU temperature will be higher than usual.
So in the end, I must say that there is nothing unususal. I just recommend you take care how the laptop is placed on the desk. Make sure that the cooling fan is not blocked and portable can catch its breath.

Hmm... What about Toshiba garbage? Perhaps the word trash are not one that fits, but if you want to say there are a lot of things pre-installed that we can live without it, I would say: you have right about. Is that you don't have to use all this software pre-installed and you can remove it from the system all that you do not want to use. Simply install your favorite applications.

Toshiba doesn't offer additional software to restore media (with or without). So you can just what you got with your laptop.
ConfigFree is very useful tool and it is very good for LAN/WLAN monitoring. This tool doesn't need a lot of resources and I recommend you leave preinstalled on your system.

All folder HDDRecovery I say follow: be careful about this. This folder contains original recovery image. Toshiba doesn't offer support recovery DVDs with laptop and on all new models of notebook recovery image is recorded on the second partition. What you need to do is to create your own recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery creator tool. Please, do so immediately before you make changes on the structure of the HARD drive (remove this folder or change the partitions).
So when the recovery DVD is created, you can delete this folder to have more free space on the second partition.

If something goes wrong with Vista preinstalled for other facilities, you can use this recovery media created. Usually when the laptop starts up for the first time, a reminder will be displayed with following message:

    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair *.
    * your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do it directly *.
    * from the HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose 'Repair your computer' *)
    * and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator."
    * for Hat, you are able to restore your computer to the original state that is installed at the factory, even if your computer is seriously damaged *.

So please be careful about this.

Paragon is unknown to me, but when you have the recovery DVD you can do what you want with book. After using this recovery media guests to new factory settings. All trial versions can be removed from the system.

Sorry if I forgot something, but if you have other questions please post again.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite L350D-213 - update drivers on Windows 7

Bought by Satellite L350D-213 mi November pre-loaded with Winodws 7. System auto detect on Tosh site shows any batch of new drivers of Windows7, published 12/03/09. Wondering if I need to install these drivers.

Until now only prob was webcam "locked by another application" what hours of web research has shown to be very common, driver webcam last downloaded prob. issued on December 3 rd Cam ok for now, but only time will tell. It is advisable to go through the full list of applicable drivers or leave things as they are. Don't want to cause probs of the irrational.

    Any advice welcome.

    Hello

It of Nice to read that your webcam working properly now and it would also be my suggestion to update the driver on this subject.

However, if your computer works fine now I n t sees no reason to update all drivers. Why you should do?
I think the drivers are only available to solve the problems on other laptops or compatibility issues so if you n t have problems, you need to update anything. I can never recommend change a system up and running! ;)

So have fun with your laptop don t not worth updating the drivers.

    Welcome them

    Hello

You cannot replace the battery yourself as the disassembly of the laptop is very delicate.
This could damage other parts while trying to disassemble the laptop.

First of all, you know that you can charge the battery of the CCF (BIOS).
To do this you need to connect the laptop to the power adapter and need to run Notepad for over 24 hours.

After that the RTC battery needs to be recharged again.
