Satellite L40 - 14N does not connect to the WLan router

Bought two portable Satellite L40 - 14N as Christmas gifts and one of them does not connect to the wireless router.
Is the error that says "error message unknown" try please login again.

The wireless network appears in the list of networks available with a strong signal. Notepad attempts to connect but the error 'wireless link failed for an unknown reason. " Made a comparison with the other laptop that works very well and the configurations appear to be identical!

Tried it on wireless network from a friend with the same result. All suggestions, am pulling out my hair at this point.

I did, however, in Thunderbird, under Tools/Options/General uncheck the button for "When Thunderbird launches, show the Start Page in the message box." I do know that if this helped, Thunderbird still do not access Comcast mail for hours after that, even with several stops and restarts.
