  all advice appreciated.

  I had a Satellite Pro L20 for about 18 months. Recently, battery does not charge when the power adapter is connected. The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile. However the ACPI often said that AC is "offline."

  There are two recent occurrences that coincide with this problem, I try to eliminate:

  1. my friends rat chewed by the feeder for pets! Power is Mobile OK insofar as he fled sector - the rat seems to have simply chewed by the outer cover (I see some threads, but I think that is just a shield, although I'm not an electrician).

  2. I put the laptop in hibernation for the first time. That seemed to mess up the system a bit, which was what initially drew my attention to the problem. This question is a bit complicated because I'm under Linux (Xubuntu).

  I updated the drivers etc from windows when I bought the laptop. Never had any problems until now and have been running linux for centuries. Also, I have mainly the laptop the power supply turned off, but do not remove the battery (is that really a problem these days?)

  I obviously need to replace the adapter, but is - it is likely (and how I can check) that the battery was borked until?

  First, please check if the other are lit.
  If the AC led and power led are on the adapter sector is ok and it provides the power to the laptop.

  If the battery LED is yellow, this means that the battery is not fully charged and if the Green led changes then recharging is caught and the battery has been recharged.

  So I really don t see any problems with the charge process.

  Maybe the battery is old and so you cannot use it for an extended in such a case only the replacement of the battery could help.

  Bought my W4 Iconia four weeks ago, a demonstration model, the last of them. It was packed in the box with a micro USB x adapter USB OTG cable and a power adapter. Back at home I discovered that the power adapter has been to Asus, possibly mixed in the shop. The prospective buyer of the Asus Tablet demo likely will get the Acer adapter. Adapter Asus with micro USB male connector works fine; specs are 5.2V - 1.35 amps; seems to be a STD USB adapter. The Asus adapter has a connector to USB female port to connect to a USB x microphone cable to USB adapter (with cable power adapter came in the box). Bought a 2nd power with USB 2 socket adapter to connect my W4 Iconia and my Garmin Zumo390 browser to an adapter. Specs are 5V - 3.5 amps.
  The Zumo works very well with the new card, but does not work my W4. Charge light stays off. USB ports switched to he Zumo and the Iconia W4, but same result. Zumo fresh, but W4 not. Borrowed another power adapter USB, 5V - 2 mines anti-personnel and new Zumo accusations, but the W4 still does not work. Also tried different USB adapter cables, but the same thing; Zumo invoice, W4 does not work.
  How is that possible? I can't tell the difference of 0.2 V between the Asus adapter and a USB adaptor STD would make the difference. But maybe I'm wrong. Wanted for adapters for the W4 Iconia and found several, but all the 5V as expected.
  Can anyone help.
  Will go to the shop again next week, but if I need an adapter V 5.2 I should order with Acer. 5.2 V adapters do exist not (readibly).

  Resolved issues. A dark and humid Sunday afternoon back to the store with the Tablet and all the bells and whistles. Changed the card Asus for the original Acer 5V - 2Amps (10W). Took the time to find the Acer adapter in the store. Demonstrated the adapter 2nd with 2 output USB ports and it wouldn't work with the Tablet W4. Tried another and found to be ok. 2 USB ports have a different power, a port for a smartphone and the other port is one tablet. Total power rating of the adapter is 17.5W (5V - 3.5Amps); some 2.5 and 1Amps. A happy man is back home again.

  I just got a Satellite L450-136 with Windows 7 and all loaded Toshiba Utillities. I don't like Windows 7 and many prefer Windows XP.
  Can I remove all Windows 7 and install Windows XP on this laptop?

  But don t forget to create the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the user manual. If you want Windows 7 returns with all the drivers and tools you can restore from recovery disc because it contains a picture of the factory settings.

  Did you check if you can get all the drivers for your model and XP?

  I'm not quite sure that what is happening with the webcam, but more often the webcam can be started using the software of the webcam installed m.

  In msconfig-> Startup tab, you can disable the webcam software to prevent automatic loading, while the laptop starts the software.

  Then you could start again the software and the webcam.
  You will see the little icon in the taskbar (lower right corner).
  Click on-> see the toolbar
  Then a webcam toolbar should appear where you could choose webcam only option.

  PS: If something went wrong with the installation of the webcam software, then uninstall the software and try again

  I have a new Satellite L450-136 that came with Windows 7, Office 7, Adobe Reader 9 installed.

  When I opened recently received pdf files from the hard drive (Windows Explorer or Adobe Reader) or Internet Explorer, the individual pages are there but are greyed out and cannot be read. But I can still print. I can open and see the old PDFs on my hard drive. If I make a new pdf from Word, I can see the text, but not to see the photos. Looks like a display problem but what?

  Have you tried to update Adobe Reader? The most recent version of the Adobe Reader software is 9.2.0. If you n t have this version, you must update!

  By the way: I give you a tip: I use Foxit PDF Reader. This tool is small, freeware and in my opinion much faster than Adobe Reader. I love it and now I have that Foxit PDF Reader installed and no problems at all.

  Choose Properties
  Now click on the first tab bar tasks
  Here, choose the option: Auto-hide the taskbar
  Apply the changes

  Alternatively, you can move the taskbar to a different position.

  The problem concerns a Satellite A200 (PSAF6A-02H01N).

  Recently, there was problems with the laptop, taking several attempts to boot to Vista, it would lock up while loading or just hang and freeze just after loading Vista.
  But once it was up and the laptop running would be happy working for hours with the AC adapter is plugged in.

  The problem got worse now and the laptop will not load Vista end without crashing.
  We have now reduced the computer down to have only a problem when the power adapter is connected.
  The laptop battery will charge normally with the AC adapter is plugged in and the laptop on standby or off.

  The problem persists with the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery removed.
  The laptop will start and run perfectly with battery and no power adapter plugged. Once the AC adapter is plugged in the laptop indicates that the battery is charging and then after a few seconds it crash or freeze and the only escape is a full stop.
  The laptop will not work under the battery power for 30 minutes max.
  I checked the output voltage of the AC adapter and this seems to be a consistent 19.4 Volts.

  Is this only a problem of AC adapter or the problem with the laptop?

• I have a G61 that won't start with the power adapter in, is this normal?

  My CA G61 - 320 will not start.  With the battery and the power adapter in, front power light blink 3 times.  With and without battery power adapter only, there is no lights at all and computer remains off.  Should not the computer always start and run with the power adapter even if the battery is dead?

  Have you tried with another plugged AC adapter and remove the battery?
