Satellite L50-A-K3K: limited wi - fi connection - only 72, 2Mbps

Hello!

I have a new laptop L50-A-K3K with Atheros AR956x WLAN. My laptop connects to the router Thomson TCW770 (who is woking in mode mixed g/n) on 72, 2 Mbps instead of as my other 150Mbps portable as z570 done.

I have not found clues for this problem on the internet. Is it possible to make my Toshiba laptop connects to the router on 150Mbps?

Supports card WLan 802.11 * b/g/n standards.

Read this thread on WLan standards and unique frequencies
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=72831

802.11 a supports 5 GHz
supports 802.11 b 2.4 Ghz
802.11 g supports 2.4 Ghz
802.11 n supports 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz option, but only if the same chip would support 802.11 standard.

It is why the 2.4 Ghz frequency is supported, which means that max 54 Mbps transfer rate can be achieved.
But 54 Mbps is just a theoretical value. Usual speed would be ~20Mbit/s = ~ 2.5Mbyte / s

  • Satellite Pro A100 has "limited or no connectivity" & no connection to the local network

    Hello!

I + really + hope someone might be able to help with this - been going slowly crazy.

Bought my A100 18 months ago in Australia while I lived there and had no trouble to connect to LANs and others with my wireless. Everything was shipped over to me (here in London) last week and everything seems to have gone pear shaped. The House I live in has Wireless Broadband comes with our Sky Cable subscription, working on (I think - there is no real marking on the device) a router wireless Netgear A/G dual band (108 Mbps 802.11 b/g network). My laptop model is: SatellitePro A100 (part No.: PSAACE-007002EN) and it works on the following network hardware (drivers installed in brackets):

    1394 net adapter (5.1.2535.0)
    Intel(r) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection (9.2.24.0)
    Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (10.1.0.13)

I used the Sky Broadband installation disc to set up the network, but every time I try to connect it tells me that I have "Limited or no connectivity" and will not let me online. I've been on the phone for Technical Support of sky for hours, trying to get this sort, but when I plug in the Ethernet cable to the laptop it will not even get to communicate directly with the router (i.e. put the IP address of the router in explore and view the settings of the router). My 'Connectivity Doctor' shows there is a problem with my wireless connection (which the network has not assigned a network address of the computer), but no problem with my ethernet connection and yet neither will allow me to get online and every time that I try to repair the wireless connection I get an error message saying that Windows could not renew the IP address.

I have disabled the Bluetooth, reset the router I don't know how many times and made sure that all cards have been activated and crosses without bad red and yellow exclaimation in Device Manager. All network devices seem to be "working properly" (according to the properties of the device).

After days of weeding through the proverbial haystack of resources online while at work, I think that the problem is either something very simple (i.e. a setting random advanced configuration). I read somewhere as you will need to 'install' the router on the system, and that is not "plug and play" as Sky Broadband seems to have deduced by phone... but I would have thought the installation CD has done this, as when I discovered my connections (when the Ethernet cable is plugged in), it recognizes the connection (it won't only ++ anything). If there is no specific process I need to follow in order to properly install the Netgear router (for which I am currently trying to see if there are appropriate drivers, I need to download), I'd appreciate a lot of the age of enlightenment! It could also be a question that I need to reset the network key in the security settings of the router, as there are already three computers in the House connected to the network... but of course I can not do without first sorting on why my laptop can still communicate with the router via the Ethernet connection.

    Points to note:
-My laptop runs on Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
-The disc to install Sky Broadband installed Internet Explorer 7. the last time I was online, I think that I was still using 6.

If anyone could be of any use to solve this puzzle, you have earned yourself my eternal gratitude!

    -Danielle

    Hello

    I think that the solution should be simple;
I presume that you TCP/IP settings are false. I mean that the settings should be set to automatically assign the IP address.

Please check this box. Simply go to the network connections-> local network connections TCP/IP properties properties

    He put everything on automatic

  • Satellite L50 - B - 21 G: abandon WLan connection / power issue

I bought my laptop about six weeks ago and its driving me crazy. I could be sitting with him and suddenly I lose the internet connection, I try to reconnect, but cannot as he seems to have "abandoned" the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter. I'm not very irritable but sees someone else has had this problem and follow a few instructions to restore the previous driver for the network adapter, but it just made things worse.

In addition, I can never turn my laptop. If I choose the "shut down" option then it turns off, but there is always a light flashing around the power button. I heard he's going a few hybrid sleep, but I had instructions to stop this, but again its happening. I can't just press the power button to restart the laptop it restarts with the loss of the network adapter (see above), so I sit in pressing and holding the button several times until it restarts finally with the back working network adapter.

If I just stopped the lid (as I applied this option overall upwards), then three hours I can just return, press a button and begin to work, however, once again, I can not because the network adapter is down and I have to then push and hold the power button (that choose shut down doesn't seem to work).

This laptop was designed to replace an old ADVENT that caused me grief, but I'm done with nothing else than a box of junk that I want to throw. Worse yet, I'm not at all way techy am so not able to do what many of you can do to correct problems so I tried to find a phone number to call Toshiba and never get an option to type in what is my problem and then follow the online help that I tried and does not work! Y at - there someone who can give me a number for Toshiba that I can call for help if I need help more than anybody can give me here? Thank you.

I have already answered in another thread with the similar question of Wlan and I guess it could be a related issue of energy saving:

    Reach:
Windows power options - choose the right central - advanced power options.
Search of the WLan card settings and set it to "best performance".
You must also set the parameters for the PCI express for the 'best performance '.

In addition, go to the Device Manager. Choose here the Wlan card properties
Switch to the last tab called "Power Management" and make sure that the option available in this tab is not checked!

  • Satellite L50-B-1GL - connection WI - FI problems

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1GL

I'm having problems with the WiFi signal reception, I found that it is that in this book because I have an another older toshiba and receives the signal also correctly correctly receive the signal in the cell, the problem is with this laptop, low signal of a Bay and up to two or three at the most, sometimes gives even me the message that there is no sign , do not work with the battery, I am plugged into the mains.

Please can you help me, or I have to send for repair.

    Thank you.

    Message has been translated

    Hello

I think you have some connection problems Wi - Fi because that card LAN of the laptop that is Intel 802.11ac + agn supports WLan standards (AC, A, G, N) probably there is a problem of compatibility between the router and the especially WLan card if the WLan router has been configured for 802.11 B or G only.

If you want to establish the WiFi connection, you must ensure that the road and the wireless network adapter supports the same WLan standard.
For example: the router + wireless network card must be set to 802.11 A or G or N because these standards are supported by the WLan module.

For the wireless network adapter, you will need to check / change the settings in:
-> WLan card device manager-> properties-> Advanced tab

On the Advanced tab, you'll find settings and options that must be controlled and configured.

  • Satellite A-L50-1DF - sound distortion using HDMI connection

    Hi all

Recently, I bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1DF.

From the beginning, I experienced problems with the HDMI connection.
When I connect my laptop to another monitor via HDMI more often than not, the sound is tinny and slightly distorted.

When I unplug the cable and put it in a few times, most of the time solved the problem.
I used different HDMI cables and different monitors with the same effect.

Other laptops work fine with these cables and monitors.
I reinstalled the drivers to display without a bit of luck and will eventually be sent my laptop in for repair.

Unfortunately, the problem was not found when they looked at it and I'll it back without a repair.

I have no idea what could be the problem, because it is not found by the repair team.
The customer service is unfortunately reluctant to me more help.

Can anyone think an explanation to this problem?

Thank you very much in advance for your comments!

    Kind regards
    Natasja

    > I have no idea what could be the problem, because it is not found by the repair team.

This means that the technician did not notice the sound distortion.
I think that it s very difficult to solve a problem that is not reproducible.

In my opinion, you should check exactly when this question appears and must try to reproduce the HDMI sound problem.
You should concentrate on the audio source and the software that runs when you connect the laptop to the external monitor TV.

Also I recommend that you perform the tests after the system has been recovered to factory settings.

  • Satellite L50-B916 - wireless connection problem

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50 B916 less than 6 months ago and had to download all the drivers for myself because for some reason, the operating system has not come with her.

Went to the site of TOSHIBA MEA to download and install the corresponding drivers.
    Downloaded the Atheros wireless driver.

Still, the Internet connection disconnects on my laptop, but works fine on other laptops and devices.
Not just a connection, all the ones I tried to connect to.

Tried to remove Atheros and re - install, it worked fine for a few days, but the connection disrupt again.

What should I do to solve this very annoying problem?

Hmm... made it happen using the laptop in battery or also while mode that the adapter is connected to the laptop?

It might be possible that the powers of WiFi, saving settings are enabled, and therefore stops the WiFi connection.

  • Satellite L50 - B - I'm not able to establish a wireless connection

    Hello

No reason, I'm not able to use my wifi connection more.
I was at home and my wifi worked, but when I went to an another location al of a sudden switch to activate the wifi (8.1 to Windows, not on my laptop, there is no switch on the laptop itself) would not work. When I put a cable internet in my laptop, I have a connection. It's just the wireless that does not work.

I have tried just about everything I could think of:
-Installed the new driver on the Toshiba site
-New Instalend pilot on the Intell website
-Remove programs of network connection, rebooted the computer, so it would automatically find the right driver.

Not it worked. I'm not keen to restart my computer because it does more harm than good. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do next?

It is not the first time, the functions are without any clear reason disabled. First it was my USB-portals. After two months, I got it working again. But now, it's the wireless internet. Its drving me crazy, because I have the laptop for 4 months now.

    Advice, anyone?

(Toshiba Satellite L50-B-188, wireless Internet by: Intel Corporation;) Intel (r) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160, version 17.13.11.5)

    Hello Rosie

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. The first WLAN card must be properly installed and listed in Device Manager. Can you please confirm this?

Second, the wireless network card must be properly activated. Flight mode must be OFF and wireless ON.
Please check in the PC settings > network > connections and flight mode.

When you check this and WLAN ENABLED scan please area. Your network is visible for your laptop?

  • Satellite L50 - USB connectivity problem

Hello, new to these forums and just buy a Toshiba Satellite L50.

The problem is when I connect my iPhone in a few seconds it will disconnect, reconnect, disconnect plug. Then a pop up according to sleep and fresh loan, then another pop up will say choose what to do with this device, and then it will disconnect and reconnect etc. and loop messages and connection.

I disabled sleep and even cool thing. I allow it and put the laptop to sleep and I can charge my phone and it is not disconnect and reconnect.

For the moment, I turned off the iPhone into Device Manager and its load although if I try and allow him to do as stated above.

It is not a problem of windows I Linux out there, and it will do the same to connect/disconnect. "Buzz-buzz" vibrating door very quickly.

It is not the phone or cable as these work well on another computer.

So can anyone explain what this problem and how to fix it.

    Footnote: BIOS Version 1.90

    Thank you!

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop supports different USB ports.

Have you tried to connect the smartphone on different USB ports?
    If this isn't it.

More I recommend you to check the parameters of each device to save energy.

In-> controller device manager USB-> properties-> last tab (power management)

Here you will find an option to turn off the device to save power.
This option should not be enabled. In the event that the option is checked, remove the mark.

  • L50-B-11J satellite does not recognize the HARD drive connected by USB 3.0

    Hello

I recently bought a new laptop and install a new legal copy of windows pro 8.1.

The problem that arises is actually a USB 3.0 port.
Also, I have a drive external hard support standard USB 2.0 and 3.0.

When I plug-in the hard drive into a USB 2.0 or any USB 3.0 port (two port supports USB 3.0 is disabled in the BIOS) fine, hard drive is recognized and I can access.

But, when I plug-in the hard disk into a USB 3.0 port (two port supports USB 3.0 is active in the BIOS) Windows does not recognize it and I can't access it.

The hard disk led flashes, so it has the power, but does not appear in the devices or Device Manager.
My opinion is that the problem may be with the drivers for USB, but Toshiba is supported for driver for USB 3.0 for Windows 8.1.

Then can someone suggest me what to do?

    Laptop: Satellite L50-B-11J
    USB ports: 1xUSB 2.0 port, 2xUSB 3.0 port
    Operating system: Windows Pro 8.1
USB 3.0 driver: Intel (r) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Control - 0100 (Microsoft)
External hard drive: support USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 standard

Intel USB 3.0 driver is part of the 8.1 Windows System... This is not supplied by Toshiba.

Windows 7 contains no such USB 3.0 driver and so you can download driver Intel USB 3.0 page of the Toshiba driver as well as the Intel download site.

By the way: try to disable the functionality of sleep & Charge and check how the HARD drive would work.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 16 H - "metered" WLan to help to win 8

    Hello.

I would like to ask for help on this problem I have. 1.5 months ago.
I bought the Toshiba Satellite L50 - A - 16 H, everything worked perfectly except sometimes the wireless internet.

I could live with that, but since a week now, I can not access the internet at all.
I can connect to a wireless network, but it still says "limited connection" (or "m" in my language, I don't know how it is in English).

I tried it at home or at school, my internet was not working in these two places.

I use windows 8 and I've updated my nVidia Driver right before that this problem started to occur.

    Greetings WhoCarrot
PS Sorry for my bad English.

    > I use windows 8 and I've updated my nVidia Driver right before that this problem started to occur.

I put t see a link between the nVidia display driver and Wlan functionality so I n t think that this update might affect the WLan.

Fact is that this Satellite supports an Intel WB222 (802.11 agn + BT) wireless network card.
I recommend you update the WLan driver first.

In addition, the Windows 8 was replaced by Win 8.1 and the free upgrade to win 8.1 is available in the Microsoft store. I recommend you to update the Win Win 8.1 8
Install and update all the drivers for the Toshiba UE driver page and retest the WLan.

  • Replace the Qualcomm Atheros ar956x in Satellite L50 - B

    Hi all

I am wanting to change the existing WiFi card in our Satellite L50 - B (Qualcomm Atheros ar956x) due to the limitation of speed of connection 150 Mbps! We have a router AC and I move 800 Mbps!

I was hoping to use an IntelĀ® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 however the cards seem to be physically different.

    Any ideas would be great!

    see you soon

    Scott

    Hello

Found some details about this Intel WLan card on the page of Intel:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/75439/Intel-dual-band-wireless-AC-7260

+ Board form factor: half a PCIe card Mini / m2 (NGFF).

As far as I know the WLan module that is built into the laptop supports Mini-PCI card format.
So, you have a miniPCI module.
But you should consider BIOS support. Not all wireless network cards could be supported by the BIOS.
