Satellite L50-A013 - internal management of video memory of BSOD

Hello.

Recently, I had several questions about my graphics card and the blue screen of death.
Here is a link to my dump file, converted to .txt: download

Specifications of the computer:
Model - Toshiba Satellite L50-A013
Processor - Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40 GHz
RAM - 8.00 GB
64 bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 M (2 GB dedicated I think)

Additional information:
My computer did not have a problem of graphics until a few months ago. I had a different problem before that. I got a blue screen error called THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Rolling back my drivers fixed this problem, but after a few days, I started to experience lots of lag of frames per second (FPS) so I used the NVIDIA experience of re application - update my drivers.

Now I get a decent FPS, but my computer like a blue screen.

Any help will be appreciated.

    Hello

my employer brought a Satellite L50-A013, part #: PSKL6A-013004 preloaded with Windows 8 and I wanted to 7 on it. I installed 7, but I am having some driver problems. On the support area of Toshiba, they list the laptop, but there is no driver for it. The main piece of hardware, with that I have a problem is the wireless. Here are the details:

Name of the physical device object
    NTPNP_PCI0016

    Hardware ID
    PCI\VEN_168C & DEV_0036 & SUBSYS_061211AD & REV_01

Also, I wiped the hard drive during installation, so I can't restore windows 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the support page to THE there is nothing useful, but using page http://www.pcidatabase.com/ your WLAN is identified as Atheros WLAN card.

Come see European support WLAN on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads page and trying to install Win7 WLAN driver for Atheros WLAN adapt.

  • Satellite L50-A013 - touchpad does not work

    Hi all

I've had my L50-A013 Satellite for about 7 months now.

In the last month or so I started to have problems with the touchpad, freezing and does not not my contact.
This lasted a few minutes at a time, then came the back of its own accord, almost like a very long latency period.
This morning, however, I turned on my laptop and the touchpad does not work.

Device Manager does not display a mouse or pointing device at all until I attach a mouse USB.
By pressing the key that normally activates / deactivates the touchpad does not work - nothing changes and the light does not turn on in both positions.

I tried reinstalling the drivers without result, and windows is no update that might help (or any recently that might have caused the problem).

If anyone has any other ideas for what I can try, it would be amazing.
The laptop is under warranty so I can hopefully get it fixed, but if possible I would really do not have to go without a computer until it's settled.

Thank you all for your time,
    -Sase

    Hi Sase

It is not easy to say what the problem is, but I can imagine that there is hardware problem. Perhaps touchpad loses the connection to the motherboard. I mean if this piece of hardware is not detected I can imagine this scenario.

Of course best test you can do now is to reinstall OS and test functionality with the factory settings, but will delete your actual configuration of OS and software pre-installed.

If this kind of test is possible do. If not, I think you must contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They have special diagnostic tools and they can check it for you.

  • Re: Satellite A300: how to spend the video memory

Hi I was checking methods on how to do a little more my graphics card work and people told me to devote some memory to my video.
Here are my settings right now:

    total graphics memory: 358 MB
    * dedicated video memory: 0 MB *.
    video memory: 128
    shared system memory: 230

while I was looking for a solution on how to do this and I found this:

but I can't go to this menu,

    Help, please
    Nathan

PS. do you think that graphics card is good enough to play new games? (eg. cod5, far cry 2, etc.)

    Hi Nathan

You cannot change the value of the video memory manually. It is not possible.
Everything is controlled by the graphics driver and AutoPlay.

As Akuma suggested memory graphics cards increases during the upgrade of RAM.
More RAM value more the memory of the graphics card shared.

  • Satellite L845D - how to increase shared video memory (AMD APU)

I have a 512 MB to 1 GB, but I have no option in the BIOS. In desktop APU systems, it is possible, since there is an option in the BIOS. Should I kind of updated, unlocked or BIOS 'hacked '?

    Thanks in advance

    BIOS hacked?
Forget buddy... don't even think about BIOS hacks... something like that (if possible) would be detrimental to your unit... certainly...

Shared memory cannot be increased manually... it is controlled by the graphics driver and especially depends on the main memory... in some cases, the shared memory will increase after RAM upgrade...

  • Satellite L50-A013 (Australia) - drivers 740M GT from NVIDIA for Win7 x 64

    Hello

Just bought this laptop shops yesterday. Immediately, had to downgrade to Win7 x 64 in order to run some of my office applications that don't work well in Win8. Find all the drivers for all components (from various sites because Toshiba has not posted of all the drivers in their Support - SILLY section!) - with the exception of the NVIDIA graphics card. The fine installed Intel HD 4000.

Tried to do this through autodetec of the NVIDIA site but I get the error "No. compatible device detected". Even with offline-mode drivers that have been downloaded.

Material is confirmed work because he was present in the installation of WIn8.

Any help from anyone here is appreciated. Anyone know of any other portable Toshiba using the GT 740 M + hybrid graphics Intel 4000 and can direct me to a place I can get the drivers from? Or someone from Toshiba, I can contact?

I found info that Toshiba Satellite S40t-AM007 has the same graphics but the drivers are not yet available. I presume it will build for Win8 only.

It is quite problematic with new models and Win7 support. Here in Europe, we have the same problem.
Google around a bit. You might find some other phones with the same graphical configuration.

  • Satellite L50-B940 - how to increase dedicated video memory?

    Hi........

the problem is that the dedicated video memory is 0MB and I could not increase it

I asked my friends a guy TI and nobody could help me and I tried to increase it from the BIOS as my friend but my bios setting is limited, so I ask you to help me solve this problem, I can't play for example: unit of creed Assassin before solving this problem

and please teach me how to solve this problem step by step

    Thank you

    Hi Sami

As far as I know it works automatically and there is no option where you can set it manually.
This option does not exist in the BIOS.

You know it's always a problem with portable machines. Video more power means more heat and due to a specific design and cooling system which can be very risky for the portable machine etc. is all this a little... different.

  • Wireless network card does not appear in the Device Manager on Satellite L50 - B - 1 DM

    Hello!
I bought just new Satellite L50 - B - 1 DM, model number PSKTCE and installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit. He came without OS installed and without driver installation disk.
Problem is that Wlan card does not appear in Device Manager.

For my Toshiba support model are 37 drivers and programs. I have already installed: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, all updates to Windows that appeared, SP 1, driver LAN, Toshiba Value added Package. And I tried to install all wlan drivers 4 in the list of "tool utility Intel ' also.
Does not always display any connection without wireless WLAN card. Pressing Fn + F12 does not change. In "Network connections" is the only connection - LAN. No WLAN, no bluetooth.

I have "Other devices" in Device Manager with yellow marks on: network controller; PCI device; PCI Simple Communication controller; SM Bus controller. USB controller; Unknown device (with Microsoft ACPI - compliant system location) and video controller.

Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance

If it's not bad - just saw that my BIOS is version 1.70

  • Satellite L875D-10R - dedicated video memory - 512 MB only

    Hello

I have a problem with my dedicated video memory. I bought my Toshiba laptop with 2 GB (amd 7640G) dedicated video memory, but it shows that I have only 512 MB dedicated. I tried also test in GPU. It shows also only 512 MB.

Is it maybe problem in point 8.1 of Windows?

    Hello

The Satellite L875D-10R supports 7640 G AMD Radeon HD internal graphic unit. This GPU is part of the processor AMD Quad-Core A8 - 4500M.

Graphics memory depends on main memory. A part of the main memory would be assigned to graphics memory. In the case of 8 GB RAM main GPU can use up to 4083 MB by using the 64-bit system.

You should also know that this will be controlled by the graphics driver and you cannot change it manually.

  • Can I change the video memory on my Satellite C855?

My daughter has a Toshiba Satellite C855 1pj him for Christmas, we bought and wants to run the Sims 3 island paradise, but when she checks on systemrequirementslab.com he tell her that she has 64 MB of dedicated video memory and the game needs a minimum of 128 MB, is it possible to change or otherwise the game will still run on the 64 MB

    Thank you

    Karen

    Hello

No, you cannot change this value manually. This is controlled by GPU driver.

First of all, I must say that this laptop Satellite C855-1pj isn t gaming notebook because its supports a graph of Intel HD internal common chip. Playbook should be equipped with an ATI or nVidia GPU external.

However, the computer laptop specifications page http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-c855-1gp/ said that the Intel HD supports up to 1 696 MB shared memory with 4 GB of RAM

Eventually, you should be able to run the game, but with lower graphic settings.

  • Question about video memory on Satellite L30-113

    Hello

I have a Satellite L30-113 and I managed to install a driver (I am learning how to in this forum, thx) for the video card, which allows me to change the size of the memory, what video card can be used. Configure the size of the (UMA) memory of 256 MB (including 128) properties, then in the properties of that memory for the graphics card is display 512?

My question is that the size 512 memory is real? Video card really use this amount of memory or is unreal? If so is it better to go back to 128 (then in properties is 256), not to waste this memory for nothing.

I know the les specifications specifications from the manufacturer, said 'max 256 memory hyper', but my question again: why in the properties I have the memory size: 512 MB?

Thank you in advance, best regards.

No, 512 MB is not true. The maximum size of video memory is 256 MB, but I do not know why your system shows 512 MB. If you set the video memory up to 256 MB performance will be no higher. Do not waste this memory to change anything back to 128 MB.

  • Incorrect video memory is displayed after the installation of Windows XP Home on Satellite A205

I bought by Satellite A-205-S4577 with Vista, but it is not working properly, so I installed XP SP2 and now in "graphics properties" 'information' is written that video memory is 8 MB to 32 MB. If memory should me shared 8-244. What's wrong? I installed all the drivers I need, there is no problem in Device Manager... I tried different types of XP, different types of drivers - every time is the same...
    Help, please!

    The system is:
    Intel Core Duo T-5300
1024 DDR, Intel 945 GM Chipset

    Hello

First that you must install the latest DirectX (9 .0c) because according to your second post the DirectX 9.0 is installed only.
Then the shared memory amount depends on main memory. I don't know if the graphics card will be able to share the total of 256 MB, if there is only 1 024 MB memory main available m.

Anyway, as much as I know Intel graphics cards automatically share memory.
This means that the Intel graphics driver assigns the value of the memory in the event of urgent need.

If the card doesn t need additional memory, the value remains low.

But can I ask you if you tried to install the graphics driver for the Intel page?
    Check it!

  • Satellite 5200 - alteration of video memory

A month ago, I encountered a problem with a slightly garbled screen
on the internal and external screens. More or less visible vertical
stripes appear on the screen. They are mainly blue on dark background
(better visible) or yellow on white background (less visible) and have
approximately the same thickness of 1-2 mm and length of order order
1 cm. The locations of the bands depend on the position of the details
actual image currently displayed on the screen.

The start screen is also but now clouded by red vertical stripes on the left and right of the red logo "In Touch with tomorrow Toshiba".
Full text-mode screen, strange characters appear in positions that are correlated with the positions of real characters.
The Test Pro BurnIn V4.0 indicates a video memory corruption (the card is NVIDIA GeForce4 460 Go, 64 MB, integrated RAMDAC). It's very interesting, yesterday
There was a short period of about 5 minutes, when all the symptoms described above has suddenly disappeared.
Even the BurnIn Test showed that everything is OK. But after this period, the symptoms recovered again. For this
reason, I would like to ask how to solve the problem.

It is indeed a bad video memory that can recover and then go back to being bad or other reasons, such as poor connectivity, etc. ?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Not easy to say what can be the problem, but if you write red vertical stripes on the left and right of the red logo "In Touch with tomorrow Toshiba" it may be a hardware problem. I think just detailed by a technician tests can give you more information about hardware malfunction.

  • Satellite 2450-201: how to increase the video memory from 32 to 64 MB?

Can anyone help? I looked in the Bios and the advanced settings screen, and found nothing to increase the size of the video memory.
Any other way to find on my Satellite 2450-201

    Hello

As far as I know that the unit has been delivered with the NVidia GeForce4 420Go 32 MB graphics card. This isn't a memory sheared graphics card.
The card supports the own memory and not a function of memory sheared.
In this case, you cannot change the value of memory.

  • How can I increase the video memory dedicated Satellite C660?

    Hello

I'm on a Toshiba Satellite C660 and I was wondering if it was possible to increase the minimum 64 MB dedicated video memory. I've got 1696 MB total available graphics memory and 8gbs of RAM.
I have had a look in the BIOS settings but couldn't find something useful.

    Thanks in advance guys.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. There is not an option where you can change it manually. It works automatically.

With more RAM, more memory will be used for graphical operations.
