Satellite L50-B-1F9 - question AMD GPU R7 260 m

Hello

I bought this toshiba laptop with a double GPUT (Intel HD and R7 m260), but after a year of owning this notebook I stumled on this problem which I didn't know before.

My R7 card seems to be broken or not active for some reason any. When I go to hardwaresettings and disable my card intel HD and try to start a game, I find myself with a 5 ~ 6 IPS. However if the Intel HD adapter is enabled and that the disabled R7 my fps skyrockets to 70 ~ 80 fps. I find it very strange due to the fact that A7 card must be much greater than my Intel HD.

I searched for a solution on the internet but the only thing I tripped had other customers with exactly the same laptop and exactly the same problem. So I was hoping to find some help here

Thank you in advance.

As you say; the laptop supports the internal graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4400) card, which is part of the Intel CPU and ATI GPU Radeon R7 M260 externally which is much stronger than the Intel HD graphics card.

It seems really strange to me that the external ATI GPU provides better performance.
I think it's just a mistake or a misconfigured system.
Please check this YouTube clip:
https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=DCh9Eob0mNY

It shows you how to switch to the ATI GPU and get better performance.
Put all the video settings for the best performance and check the fps game while

  • Satellite L50 - B - 1 K 7 - switch graphics Intel because AMD

    Hello world

    I have Toshiba Satellite L50 - B - 1 K 7 (PSKTCE) model laptop.

When he has to switch from the Intel AMD graphic it turns off just without any warning. I installed the latest drivers for two graphics cards and also checked in the Device Manager for the latest versions of the drivers but the problem remains. Sometimes, for example when I turn on the Solidworks, even if it is listed in catalyst control center for high performance and must use AMD instead of Intel graphics, laptop computer still uses Intel.

When I load something in Solidworks which has need of more graphic resources (rendering...) SolidWorks crushes down with the message that AMD driver has encountered a problem, but it is resolved (on the way this laptop back on Intel graphics).

I use Win7 64 bit and switchable graphics system does not work. I have this laptop for less than a month and tried everything.

Does anyone have similar problem, or some tips how to solve?

    Thanks in advance!

    > I installed the latest drivers for two graphics cards
According to the specifications specifications page, this unit has been sold without preinstalled system.
Therefore, it seems that you have installed the Win 7 64 bit in your own hand.

Where did you download the drivers (Intel and ATI) graphics card?
Have you used the drivers available on the page of the Toshiba UE driver?

To switch to the external GPU you must right click on the desktop.
In Catalyst Control Center Power, click on select Maximum Performance when it is plugged

Then in global settings of Switchable Graphics also choose maximize Performance

Then click on the switchable graphics Application settings
Now, you would be able to add an application (game, etc) that could use this graphics card settings

Now, just point to the exe file and add to the list of applications.
After that, you will see the exe file in the list. Click the graphics settings and set it to high performance.

  • A few questions on Satellite L50-B-1HJ

    http://www.Toshiba.be/NL/laptops/satellite/satellite-l50-b/satellite-l50-b-1HJ/

    Hello guys

just wondering if its normal for this model to have a very little noise in his hard drive?... and also it clearly says truBrite® HD TFT display high brightness with aspect ratio 16: 9 LED backlight
internal resolution: 1366 x 768 in the specs, but why not not good as other notebook computer display... It's bright other led backlit screens are better... and I don't know if it is a device with the laptop, because sometimes when you go to a dark page and go to a blank page, the brightness decreases and then increases after a few seconds or a minute then...

    any ideas?

    Hello

It s nothing unusual if a HARD drive create a sound. It happens more often during the reading or writing of data.

Don t so worry about this but note: you should always create a backup from time to time because a HARD drive failure can happen unexpectedly.

As you say; the laptop was equipped with a 15.6 LED HD display with resolution 1366 x 768. Following the display, the display brightness may vary.

As far as I know that this kind of display supports the 200nit max brightness (nit is a unit of visible light intensity allows to specify the brightness)

However, the brightness of the display can be decreased and increased by using the function keys (F-keys)

In addition laptops equipped with the graphics card AMD supports the option called AMD Vari Bright which saves energy consumption by optimizing the contrast of the image.
This feature can be turned on and off in the center of engine control AMD Vision.

In AMD/ATI control center select power power play.
You will find the box power play that enables or disables the function light vari.

I suppose that similar functionality is in the settings of the GPU from Intel in case your laptop would support Intel GPU as well.

  • AMD does not work on my Satellite L50 - B - 23 G

Hi, I have a new laptop Toshiba Satellite L50 - B - 23 G, it works fine but when I play a game, I can see in System Monitor to the graphics card AMD works 0%, I reconfigurate, whit the Catalyst Control Center, the high performance game, but it remains at 0%.

To be sure, I install the betchmark "Vetchmark Valley" and the graphics card always 0.
I can see in the screen configuration that it uses the HD Graphics 5500.

    How can I fix?
    Tank you.

Of course, the game does not use the external ATI GPU but its not working as part of internal Intel HD graphics 5500 which is part of the Intel CPU.

You must configure the graphics settings, so the game can access the ATI GPU.

    How?

To switch to the external GPU, right click on the desktop
In Catalyst Control Center Power, click on select Maximum Performance when it is plugged
Then in global settings of Switchable Graphics also choose maximize Performance
Then click on the switchable graphics Application settings
Now, you would be able to add an app (game) that could use this graphics card settings
Simply tap the exe of the game and add to the list of applications.
After that, you will see the exe file in the list. Click the graphics settings and set it to high performance.

  • L50-B-1V9 questions - audio and video satellite

I got my phone three weeks ago. Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1V9 with Windows 8...

After a few days he had problems whenever I started something with the sound. the 'Windows Graphisolierung as Audiogerate' (sorry, I don't know how it's called in English) ate at 50% of the CPU. and everything was just annoyingly slow.

There are ten days - youtube videos began to struggle. They have started for a few seconds, then started again at the beginning and again - each time showing a shorter segment to the beginning of the video. until I got the message that I cannot watch this video right now and should try again later.
When I waited they start again and works fine.

Since yesterday - youtube videos do not even begin more - I simply get a note that Shockwave does not.

Last night I tried to watch several videos that are on my flash drive. each of them has led to crashing the Windows Media Player and VLC player. I even tried a few MP3s and got nothing else than to errors.

All of the ideas that I could do?

    Hello

Sorry to hear that you have questions.

For two months, I have Satellite S50 - B also preinstalled with Win8.1 and so far I didn t notice any problem with the audio or video. YouTube works perfectly and VLC too (my favorite player).

If you have installed something that could be responsible for these questions? Maybe some additional software.
If I were you I would reinstall (recovery image) new Win8 check how it works with the settings and try to find out what could be the reason for this.

  • Question of the animation to boot Windows on Satellite L50-A-1F2

    Hi guys,.

I installed Linux on my Satellite L50-A-1F2, and now when I start Windows, after the grub is sometimes very good, sometimes I see the stripes, or the Windows boot animation biased... sometimes, like now, I see the image of grub instead of the classic Windows logo. Everything works fine, Windows loading perfectly... but if anyone can solve this problem that makes me happy.

Thank you! Sorry for my English!

    Hello

I think that your problem is a gesture of challenge related to the Linux installed.
Probably, Boot Manager Windows 8.1 has been replaced by GRUB in Linux and that's why the start-up procedure search differently.

I have no solution for you, but recommend you to check a few FAQ and HowTo to configure GRUB

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 5 - question about max LAN speed

    Qualcomm-Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

In the specifications it is said that this network adapter might work on the speed of the LAN 1 Gbps 1000base-t.
But the max speed that is displayed on my system is 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX.
    Why?

    System: _
    Toshiba Satellite L50 - A - 1-5
    Windows OS 8.1
    Driver version 2.1.0.21
    Qualcomm-Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

You're right, the network adapter. Atheros QCA8171B supports networks: 1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T

To use the range, the router should also support the 1000BASE-T.
    Did you check that?

In addition, you can change the LAN settings in:
    Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab

Here, you should check if 1000BASE-T option is selected and chosen.

I also recommend you check the BIOS settings because as fat I know some LAN function can be enable/disable in the BIOS

  • Satellite L50-B-1 q 0 - removal battery question

    Hi, I bought the product Satellite L50-B-1 q 0.
With astonishment, I found that * the battery is not removable *.
    I always knew that when you use a portable computer, you must remove the battery;
Then, I wanted to know if this product has a new technology where the battery life is not affected by the use of the computer when it is connected to the power adapter.

    Thank you.

    > I always knew that when you use a portable computer, you must remove the battery;
For a long time I use Toshiba portable computers, but I never read these tips in the documents of Toshiba I got new machines.
I have never done this in the past and I never will in the future. From time to time, you can use your laptop with battery only and charge again.

You are right. Your laptop battery can not be removed, but there is no reason to panic. Sink the battery and charge it at least once a month.

  • Satellite L50-B-16V - Starcraft 2 performance decreased after update BIOS?

    Hello

I played Starcraft 2 for awhile on my Satellite L50-B-16V using average settings quite fluently, however, now the computer's performance has worsened considerably. Framerate decreases with the increase of number of units in the game, in the end that I get framerate as images 1 / 3 sec, even low settings.

The only thing that has changed since the game worked fine, was updated to BIOS to version 2.0. Could it be the cause of the problem? And if so, is it a safe way to downgrade the BIOS to 1.9?

    Thank you.
    Karel

    Hello

The BIOS update should not affect the performance of the game.
But after the BIOS update you should definitely take the default settings of the BIOS (by pressing F9 in BIOS). Then save the changes and exit the BIOS.

In addition, you must check the AMD/ATI settings in the ATI Control Center.
As I m not wrong no you can increase the performance of the GPU but of course, it would increase GPU s heat dissipation and temperature s notebook would be upward.

  • Maximum external resolution for Satellite L50-A-19N (PSKK6E)

    Hello

    I bought a Satellite L50-A-161.
The computer has two graphics cards: a processor intel integrated and a gforce 740 m with 2 GB dedicated.
Is your computer often uses the video card intel automatically, how do I know the computer to use the gforce always because I often use 3D programs like autocad, photoshop, 3ds design, etc...
In addition to the question: are we sure the gforce 740 m is a dedicated with 2 GB video card? due to various forums about this computer shared video card

    Thanks for your attention

As far as I know it s ordered automatically and you do not have possibility to control GPU manually.

  • Satellite L50 - B - 2 8 flashing screen + driver crash.

    Hi all

When you work with my L50, sometimes the screen stops (black screen) 1 or 2 seconds and restard right after. Very like, remove power. Sometimes, I get notification that crashed the driver of the screen. The occurs when the power and the battery is almost full.

I try to install the latest driver for support Tohiba without effects...

    Could you help me.

    Thank you very much
    Philippe

Sometimes, I get notification that crashed the driver of the screen

    As I'm not mistaken the Satellite L50 - B - 2 8 takes care of two GPU:
-Intel HD Graphics 5500, which is part of the Intel CPU and
-AMD ATI Radeon R7 M260 is the external GPU.

Now, knowing that it would be interesting to know which graphics card driver crashed.
I mean the laptop can use either the Intel GPU or according to the settings... usually the Intel GPU ATI GPU is used if no application does not work who would need the power of the ATI graphics card... This saves the battery...

However, its possible to switch between Intel and ATI GPU.

Some nice youtube videos show step by step detailed instructions how to:
