  • Problem with keyboard on Satellite L500-128

    Hi all

I'm having some problems with the keyboard on my Satellite L500-128 - essentially; 8, 9, i, o, k, l and comma and period keys do not work.

All other keys are working perfectly fine (I use an external keyboard if people wonder!)

I'm technically minded but I was wondering if its worth disassemble the laptop and have one eye or if someone has had this problem with this laptop before - or if someone has any ideas with what he could fix.

I tried to do a reset of the laptop (battery and pressing power button) I reinstalled the operating system, but the keyboard still has problems in the BIOS too.

    Hello

In my opinion and as suggested by Liam, it looks like a simple keyboard malfunction and to solve this problem, the keyboard needs to be replaced.

The Toshiba service in your country partner could replace the defective
Otherwise, you could try to replace it yourself, but if you are a beginner and if you have no experience, ask a support technician.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the processor on my Satellite L500-128?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-128 with an Intel Centrino duo core proccessor with duo core 2 technology and wanted to know if it is possible to
pgrade whether a quard core proccessor or a core I3 processor?

    Thank you

    Oscar

    Hi Oscar

In my opinion the SSDS are quite expensive in that time and I think that you shouldn't spend a lot of money for it now.
I think that you should increase the RAM to the maximum level and make the right configuration of the OS and you should be satisfied with the performance.
I don't know what you're doing with your laptop, but for every day activities, it will be enough.

    Hello

Check if the wireless network adapter using the Draft N standard.
You can choose this in Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card

As far as I know that the WLan card is Intel 5100AGN.
Check if an update of the WLan driver would also help

  • Re: Satellite L500-128 - how to restore factory settings?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-128. A couple of months, I installed the upgrade to windows 7. Now, I want to clean my computer laptop everything. I want to restore the factory settings, but I have no idea how to do that. Does anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

    What do you want exactly?

Normally it is easy to restore the factory settings. You need only the Toshiba Recovery disk you created, I think. Therefore, enter the disk and start it. The Setup menu will be loaded and you can follow the instructions on the screen. Factory settings will be restored with all the drivers and tools.

Also, don't forget to backup your data. Everything on the HARD drive will be erased.

  • Satellite L500-128 - slow connection to wireless network

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite L500-128.

After I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, my laptop is very very slow at startup. He hangs on to my wireless network connection or non - wireless (no matter whether I am connected to a cable). At this point, Windows has already started, but has not loaded al my applications yet. After 1.5 minutes or so when it is connected to my network (or has decided that he cannot connect because I'm not connected to a network), it continues and all is well.

I already installed the latest network drivers. I have a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and an Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.

Is there anyone who has this problem and fixed it?

    Hello

I had a similar problem on Windows XP... The problem is that I used my router DHCP service it takes up to 1 minute I could use the laptop. I searched a bit here in the forum and I tried to use static IP addresses instead of DHCP from my router service: the problem has been resolved! :)

Please try static IP addresses and update the firmware on your router!

  • Upgrading CPU for Satellite L500-128

I have a 4-5 year old Toshiba L500-128 and I would like to upgrade the processor. ATM I have a Core 2 Duo T6500. I know that I can put a T9500 inside, but if possible I would ask a better. So I have a few questions:

    (1) can I put a CPU with front side bus 1066 MHZ speed and it'll work? T6500 has 800 FSB.
    (2) can I put a CPU with 44 or 45W TDP? T6500 has 35W.
    (3) if the answer is Yes to the two questions above, I put a CPU with 1066 FSB and 45W?

Is possible, I would put something like T9900 or even a Quad Core.

    Thanks in advance :)

    > 1) that I can put a CPU with front side bus 1066 MHZ speed and it'll work? T6500 has 800 FSB.

In my opinion, you should check the compatibility of the chipset and CPU support.
As far as I know the motherboard the computer s portable supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express

On the Intel Ark page, I could find the Intel Mobile GM45 chipset specifications and compatible products:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/35134/Intel-82GM45-graphics-and-memory-controller-hub

However, the fact is that new CPU must be supported by the chipset and BIOS.
If one of the parties (chipset or BIOS) is not compatible with the new processor, the laptop does not start at the top.

In addition, you should also know that the manufacturers of portable don t support upgrading processors.
    Does that mean exactly?

This means that even if the chipset would support the new processor, BIOS could be the troublemaker and couldn't stand the improved CPU. From my experience, there is no information on BIOS support. Therefore, the CPU upgrade is always a risky procedure. Maybe it will work, maybe not

  • Crash on startup Satellite L500-128

    Hello

Sometimes, when I start my Satellite L500, I experience a blue screen that says that the laptop restarts automatically to avoid damaging the material.

It's coming fast, so I can't read all the text in the message. After auto restarts, the startup is normal.

Problem solver of Windows gives me an indication regarding these files.

    060210-18657 - 01.dmp
    SysData. XML
    WERInternalMetadata.xml

That this has something to do with a bios update?

    Kind regards

    JW

    Hello

Usually, you can also check the BSOD code in the Windows Event Viewer but also turn off automatic restart in case of system error.
If you know the exact code of BSOD, you can search in the Internet and the Knowledge Base Microsoft for detailed explanations.

These bluescreens means generally that there is a driver or a hardware problem.
Also the Toshiba Recovery disk can help you identify the exact problem.

    Hello

Please try to configure the default BIOS by using the F9 key in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS F2 press immediately after the laptop is turned on.
Then press f9 and save changes

I recommend that you test the HARD drive as well... use a tool called 'Test of fitness Drive' for this...

  • Satellite L500-128 using recovery on the new (larger) HARD drive discs

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba L500-128, the original 320 GB hard drive is just too small and I would like to avoid buying an external hard drive (for backup purposes), because in my experience, they are just rubbish and I want that all my data on the laptop.

I wanted to buy a new hard drive 1 tb (maybe 2) put into it, I guess it is equipped to deal with, (Please someone correct me if they know otherwise) with 4 GB of ram...

In any case I am really wondered, whether or not I can get out with the help of my new hard disk recovery disks.
If they did it the old-fashioned way (sending an OS disc and a disc of pilots) I wouldn't even question, but as I created disks of the computer itself, I wasn't too sure when I opened the drives upward to make sure all burned on them ok, I never saw something like what I expected.

Also, I read somewhere that someone else has tried it and it didn't work, they assumed because the recovery included an image specifically to fit the original hard drive size?

Can someone enlighten us all please?

    Thank you

    Hello

First, you must create the Toshiba Recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc Creator called pre-installed tool.
Usually, you should receive a confirmation message that the recovery was created successfully.
This means that you can use this disk to restore the laptop to factory settings is not serious what HARD drive is in use.
This means that the recovery disc should work with the other drives.

But note; This recovery disk using would format the HARD drive and remove all HARD drive partitions. But this should not bother you if you use the disk HARD vacuum ;)

  • Satellite L500-128 - how to turn off WLAN?

    Hello.

I currently own a l500-128 with 32-bit windows 7 and I would like to know how you can disable wireless on Windows instead of the BIOS. Because I'm using a clean install, I have no installed tools Toshiba so I don't know what software I need to use.

Secondly, I wonder which included the latest 2 bios updates. I saw no improvement in performance so far, so I want to know what has been fixed.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

    (1) can I ask you if you have read the user manual?
You can disable the WIFI using the hardware on the laptop switch. You can also disable WLAN using FN + F8 key combination but so value-added Package must be installed.

    (2) I never noticed the BIOS updates to improve performance. Normally, they set only a few problems and if you can t find a log of the changes on the Toshiba site is not available.

    Hello

Why you n t set the BIOS back to default settings?
Turn on the device, press F2, and then choose the default settings in the BIOS (I think you need to press F9).
    Save the changes and reboot.

  • Satellite L500-19 x - unusual questions of the internet

Hey guys, I really need your help!

I've had my Toshiba Satellite L500 - 19 X for about 3 years now. I've not had problems with it before.

A few days ago I started having problems with my wireless connection. Unlike other problems, I saw on this site, my laptop * DID * recognize the other networks, but not my network. He has simply disappeared. My mother and sister can connect to the network so I am little inclined to think it's a fault with our router.

So far, I've tried using Fn and F8 to switch wireless works. And I also tried turning the network adapter and the... Ive run out of ideas!

If someone has + everything + idea what is the problem or what my next step might be, I would be very grateful!
    Thank you guys!

Have you tried to reboot your router and check if the problem persists?
