Satellite L500-128 - FN keys do not work with Win 7 64 bit
Satellite L500-128 - FN keys do not work with the help of the operating system Windows 7 x 64
Satellite L500-128 belongs to the series of PSLJ3E.
The European driver Toshiba page contains all drivers for this unit.
Next to the installation of value-added package, you will need to install the Flash Cards Support utility v 188.8.131.52.
Buttons controls the FN Flash Cards!
The FN key does not work
I have the installer: added value package + Flash Cards Support utility
Laptop model: Satellite A500-1f5
WIN 7 64 bit
Try restarting Flash cards.
Start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > restart Flash cards.
After doing this press FN button several times.
or remove the vap utility and support of flashcard and download:
Then install the utiliy and flashcard Vap, support.
My laptop model is' satellite C660-B080 & only part no = 'PSC0SV-02G01JAR' with windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1
I downloaded the driver from the website, but the FN key does not
Please help me with this.
Must be installed:
-Value Added Package for Windows 7 64 bit
-Flash utility Cards with support for Windows 7 64 bit
These two tools are located on the Toshiba driver pages.
I apologize for the English :)
Established on M100-221 Windows 7 laptop, downloaded all the drivers of a site under the given system, updated the bios to version 5.6, but fn + F1 keys do not work...
The if on fn key press turns on, but in a combination with F1... Does not work.
Ask what to do.
I'm not very well if you get the FN m current buttons on this laptop computer as part of Win 7 because it s an older series.
But to my knowledge the FN buttons are controlled by the Support of Flash memory card utility.
Please check the driver series L500 area.
You will find the Support of Flash Card Utility and VAP (value added package).
Install first the PPV then Support of Flash Card Utility
Usually, it should work...
I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.
Before installing Vista, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
BIOS version is now 2.20 - WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]
After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
This doesn't seem to be true or not true.
Here's what's happening.
-Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
-After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
-If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).
There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.
Someone knows how to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.
Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.
FN keys do not work on win7 satellite A300 20 p
Have you installed the added value package as well?
This because this package is required for some features to work.
In addition, you should go to Toshiba-> Flash cards and need to check if the flash card function is enabled
I installed windows XP for my toshiba Satellite A300D-205,
I found compatible drivers and all devices work properly except multimedia functions Fn and sensor-buttons next to the main keyboard!
I tried to install Toshiba Value Package added, but it does not work in win XP...
Do you have ideas of how make this stuff work? Y at - it Toshiba VAP for XP?
All responses appreciated. Thank you.

The VAP (value added package) was designed for Win Vista and Win 7 ONLY!
There is no PPV for Win XP!
Satellite A300D-205 belongs to the PSAHCE but the Toshiba series European driver page does not provide the Win XP drivers for this series! There are only Vista or Win 7 drivers.
To be honest, Win XP is oldie was a King in the past, but the King living death the King (Win 7)
I doubt that you will get Win XP drivers created for this series and so I doubt that you will get to the buttons FN.
But of course, you can try to install common Module, Hotkey Utility, utility Hotkey to published display to other devices perhaps series (A300, A200, etc.), you could get the tools running that would allow the FN keys
FN key does not work when I press the FN + F1 keys... F12 after installation win 8.1 instead of win7 which originated with my camera.
is it possible to make it work even once with 8.1 win and if I need your instructions.
Can you please tell us what model of laptop do you have?
Your machine is supported for the own Win8.1 version? Did you check that?
I upgraded my Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (no clean install upgrade) for my Satellite L500-126.
Everything works fine except the shortcuts (FN + F keys) keyboard, shortcut keys worked fine in Vista prior to upgrade. I want to reinstall the drivers or applications for shortcut keys, but the downloads page confuses me a lot. Should what driver and applicantion I download for this keyboard shortcuts?
Keys FN and all the other special functions, you need only the Toshiba value added Package. It contains all the drivers you need for these functions:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
I installed Windows 7 on my Satellite A300 and Qosmio F50. After installing the package of added value, I can successfully use the FN keys. :)
Broke the new Satellite A300-234, flied Windows Vista. I did not the backup copy of the system. At the system from a disk of another laptop Toshiba A200-23d.
The key away. What should do?
The point is that the product key from the underside of the laptop can t be used with another drive in Windows. It s just for the preinstalled OEM version and doesn t work with other versions.
Normally you n t have to enter a product key if you are using the Toshiba recovery disc because it contains a picture of the factory settings and is different from a disc of Microsoft Vista.
Anyway, as said Akuma you can order a new drive Toshiba Recovery directly.
The another model of laptop recovery disk will not work because the hardware is different.
I'm new arround here, and I have a question on my new laptop.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop 1ZF, and I installed windows xp.
I could install most of the drivers (including the touchpad, webcam, bluetooth, etc.), but I can not do with the fn keys.
Does not work.
I am pressing fn + F5 or F6 for the light, and nothing happens. In addition, if I can, I want this window of Vista to show when I want to use the FN combination keys.
Please, can you help me?
I think I can help you
This is a known issue for me I m an owner of a series of Satellite A and from time to time I m here in the forum and I read the interesting discussions
I found an answer to your problems, it seems that there are two versions of the BIOS;
A version of Win XP and one for the Vista operating system.
If you use the Win XP on your laptop you must update the BIOS to the XP version. This will help to solve the problem with the FN keys
Someone here in the forum posted this solution and I think it should help you too.
Best regards and have a nice day ;)
Why Toshiba DVD player does not work when I plug the HDMI out on my other bigger screen...
While he plays well the DVD on the computer and, if I can get the signal HDMI OUT with VLC playing other video formats...
I hope there is a way to unlock this, because I prefer to play DVDs on my computer (for his problem because I have the ear is not good)
Thank you in advance for your help, if you can.

To be honest I n don't know 100% what your problem is.
If you want to watch DVD movies on your computer with the help of a reader DVD Toshiba but the captain must be indicated on the external screen follow these steps:
When you have connected the HDMI cable (other) outside on the screen, use FN + F5 and switch to the external display only. When you see the desktop on the beginning of the display external Toshiba DVD player and I think that everything should be OK.
try to install the value-added package 1.2.28 from the DVD driver (shipped with my laptop and newer computer as the pilot on toshibas website).
Installtion works well and the keyboard shortcut does not work after restarting.
I even try the old driver from the Web site 1.2.25 it does not also.
After that, I try to install a part of the driver. I find this comment:
+ For the FN keys that you will install Toshiba Value added Package and Flash cards supports the utility. Make sure that the two versions are released for Windows 7 64 bit already. If you choose a version of Vista, it will not work! +
+ Here you can download everything: +.
+ http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers +.
+ Value Added Package must be installed in the first place. ;)+
But the usefulness of flash cards is a part of the added value package and I wasn't able to disable the utility under Windows 7 32-bit flash cards.
This utility seems to be used for other public services.
Someone at - it solution to activate the shortcut keys?
> But the usefulness of flash cards is a part of the added value package and I wasn't able to disable the utility of flash on Windows 7 32 bit cards.
There are two applications that can be downloaded:
* Added value package v1.2.34 * and * supports Flash cards utility v184.108.40.206 *.
Please install both applications again!
If the two were already installed, and remove the system first, after restarting again install the two drivers again.
I just bought the a200 10w (psaece) and it downgraded to winxp.
The Fn 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 do not work
In addition, I can't Eve operatethe and hibernation.
any help will be greatly appreciated
One question; Have you installed the drivers XP which controls the features of FN keys?
I think that you didn t! I ve checked the page pilot European Toshiba and drivers XP for the A200 PSAEC don t exist at this time. So for me it s not surprising that you can not use the FN keys!
See this forum for similar issues on XP driver for notebook A200. There are a few proposals of solution!
Concerning your hibernation and the question of the day before. First of all, the hibernation must be enabled in the Windows power options!
The power option located in the Panel!
Check this box
I installed windows 7 to my Toshiba satellite a300 1gn, short model No.: psagce and some illuminated media buttons do not work.
I have the last drivest but still nothing. first button is expected to control the lighting of media buttons, touchpad and Satellite logo.
second button is expected to open media player or something like that. the other front buttons work fine!
Could someone helt solve me my problem?
Have you installed the VAP (value added package)?
This package contains the necessary application that controls the media keys!
Please check European Toshiba driver page for this package and install it!
