Satellite L500-164 - BSOD during XP installation
Hello.
I installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and everything was working fine... no probs. But now I want to install Windows XP (32-bit standard edition) on another partition, but it does not work?
He gets in the installation CD, it loads the hardware drivers (the first step), but then, when he must step in partitioning menu or "where you want to install xp" - menu, it gives me a blue screen with information: (it's in German, I try to translate it):
It has encountered a problem. Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If you get the error message for the first time, you must restart the computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Search your computer for viruses. Cancel the registration of any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Make sure that the disk is properly configured. Run CHKDSK / F, to determine if the disk is damaged.
Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFA36063C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I tried a lot of things. I formatted all partitions with a live cd of linux, so now the hard drive is completely empty, however, does not work. I guess that windows 7 (64-bit) caused the problem... but WHAT?
Can someone help me please? I'm going crazy here... I just want to install xp, nothing more... :/
Info: My laptop is a satellite L500-164
Which WXP both of you are trying to install (SP?)?
You have to load the SATA driver on startup?

I think I know why you get a BSOD.
You said that you have installed the Win XP SP1a.You must Win XP SP2!
If you wish, you can create a CD Win XP SP2 clean! How? It's very easy. You need the tool freeware nLite (google for it and how to use it).
Using the nLite application you could create a new XP CD and could include SP2 in this CD. You can then use this disk to start!
By the way; The Toshiba recovery disc can be ordered from the ASP

Satellite L500-164: 15.6 "does not appear fullscreen in games
Hello
I recently bought the L500-164 and installed Windows 7 64-bit. Everything works perfectly, just a thing which annoys me incredibly.
Whenever I play a game (Counterstrike, Warcraft3, Warsow, soldier) is a big black band on the left and right, so basically the screen of the game resembles a quadrat. I saw even more on my old 15.4 "laptop, because he was able to view as wide screen.
I installed the new catalyst, but is not possible within the REC to enlarge the screen of the game for the full amount...
I really want to solve this problem and I hope for your help.Thank you!
Hello
Normally, every game, you can change the screen resolution and I think that you didn t set the resolution of the screen to the right. As far as I know the Satellite L500-164 has a native resolution of 1366 x 768. did you choose this resolution?
If you choose another resolution that uses another format, you have these bands on the left and right sides. In addition, you must use the Toshiba display driver directly. Other drivers are not pre-tested and don t have protection against overheating.

Satellite L500-164 - memory graphics type?
Hello
I'm new here. Today, I found the Satellite L500-164. I think it's a very good laptop. Especially the price is good.
Now, there's an Ati Mobility Radeon 4650 with 1 GB of memory in the L500-164. But my problem is, each site there is another description for the type of memory, sometimes its DDR3, GDDR3 (which is of course preferable) could be. Can you help me with this issue? Do you know what memory graphic type is the L500-164?Would be nice if you can help me. (and sorry for my bad English ^^)
Hello!
You can try to GPU - Z as Akuma said identify memory.
But theoretically GDDR3 and DDR3 is the same type of RAM. GDDR3 means * graphics Double data RAM *. So it's just memory specifically designed for use on graphics cards.
Thus, the graphics card's own memory and doesn t share with system memory.
Good bye

Satellite L500-164 - has the touchpad scrolling feature?
Hello
I am interested in buying the laptop L500-164.Can someone tell me if this phone has a touchpad with scroll function?
And so, only the page down, or "from left to right?Thank you!
Hello
Yes, the Satellite L500 supports virtual scrolling.
But that's why you need the driver for the touchpad, this feature is software based on other laptops. It is not a problem because the driver is already preinstalled and more you can download on the page of Toshiba. :)
Fun with a new Satellite L500. A friend bought me too and it s really great and the price is also good.

Satellite Pro A10 stops during the installation of Windows
I have a satellite Pro A10, which stops during the installation of Windows. The installation gets to the part where I need to select the HARD drive to install, then the system off just. I can restart it immediately, and the sdame happens.
If I enter the BIOS, everything is detected OK, and I've updated to the latest version (V1.4). Also when in the BIOS, the system will remain under tension for ever and a day! and no downtime. I have a couple of diagnostic CD, then run the tests is the same thing, but I ran the seagate diagnostic tool and the HDD OK passes, as does the main map, but cannot perform detailed testing that the system shuts down during the tests.
I suspect an overheating issue but would like advice.
Hmmm it s very strange. I thought that the HARD drive could malfunctions but it of very impossible if the HARD drive has passed the Seagate diagnostic test.
However, it would be very interesting to know if the installation of the OS would end with another HARD drive.
You know, it of always difficult to provide an exact solution without any diagnostic tests. For me, it really looks like a hardware malfunction. So perhaps it would be advisable to contact the authorized Toshiba maintainer for a control of the laptop.
Guys could run tests and would situate the fault quickly. -
Satellite L500-164 drivers for Windows XP?
What about drivers for Windows XP (32-bit)?
On the Toshiba Driver Site for this product there are only drivers vor vista 32 bit and vista 64-bit...
where can I find drivers for Win XP? Or the Vista drivers work for Win XP, too?
I can't test it now because I want to first ensure that it will work with win xp, after that I tried to install it...
Hello
The Satellite L500 doesn t Windows XP, it supports only 32-bit Vista and Vista 64-bit. Windows XP is pretty old OS, it the past. Now it of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
If you want to install XP you must collect the drivers by yourself on external sites, such as Intel, Realtek, and far.
But to be honest rejoice with OS preinstalled. All new laptops are fast enough for Vista. ;)
Welcome them

Satellite U400 - 14 M - BSOD during XP installation
Hello
I want to install Windows XP on my 14 m U400, but it does not work. After a blue screen, it do a reboot before I can install it.Thank you
Hello!
I guess that didn t fit a SATA driver or an incorrect version. To verify the Web from Toshiba site for a version of driver. Intel Storage Manager, you must:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download driversYou can integrate the driver using nLite ([www.nliteos.com]). This tool is easy enough to use and I never had problems with.
Check it!In the BIOS, you can change the mode AHCI compatible, but the AHCI mode is faster, then you should try to install it with the SATA drivers in AHCI mode.
Last but not least, this Toshiba document could be useful for you:

Satellite M645-S4055: Disconnections during the installation of Windows XP
Hello everyone
I want to install Windows XP Professional on my laptop Satellite M645 S4055 but fail to do so. During the initial installation, it gives blue screen.
Currently, Windows 7 Professional installed.
I've upgraded BIOS 1.90 version also available on the toshiba Web site.
Please give me a solution.
Hello
I imagine that you didn t include the driver to CD Win XP SATA.
The point is that Win XP needs an extra SATA driver in order to be able to recognize the HARD drive that is connected to the SATA controller. Here's a nice Support Toshiba Europe basic knowledge FAQ:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htmYou should check your chipset and download the Intel Storage Manager driver on Intel page that would support your chipset.

Satellite L355D-S7825 - hangs during the installation of recovery
My laptop girls. She asked me to restore the computer to factory settings. It is running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I tried the restore disks 4 times now to pretty much the same results. It will get all the way to the "application final Configuration where it installs the user manual and the office links and then it's there. After reading several posts here with the same problem, I decided to let it sit all night. This morning it had expired. I clicked on the button of the mouse to wake him up. It passes to the logon screen. It shows login Admin and says that the account has been locked, please contact your system administrator. How can this be? It won't let me! My only choice is to restart the system. After the reboot, it displays the screen of the AFC and reinstalls the two same files manual user and links and then it's there.
I can minimize the screen of the AFC I did and then I changed the power settings to never expire. I have the WiFi off button as requested by AFC screen, as it will not be installed file links with WiFi turned on and the user manual. I don't know what else to do.
Anyone has any ideas on this? What would you say if I was totally format the HD and then try to restore? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Poppi,
What you mean with screen AFC?
Well, if recovery installation doesn't work properly, it s hardware malfunction or the disk recovery...
