Satellite L500-1TU - BIOS update error

Hello, today I was updating my drivers and when I started on my bios it crashed while it was up-to-date. After waitting for a long time and see the computer crashed, I turned it off. Surprise, surprise, when I turn it on I don't see a black screen. Is there a way to reset my bios drivers? And if I have to send it to a support centre, will they format my drive?

Thanks in advance

Bruno Fernandes

Hello

> Is there a way to reset my bios drivers? And if I have to send it to a support centre, will they format my drive?

There is no link between the Bios and the hard drive. They will reflash your Bios, all data on the hard drive you will be intact. But you must know that reflash Bios is not free, you will have to pay.

Update CPU is not certainly supported and I think you should know this.
There are different reasons for this > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

As far as I know it is designed without special BIOS for these purposes, especially not for public use.
Try to contact Toshiba service in your country and ask for help.
I put t think anyone here can help you with this.

    Hey Buddy,

Before you start the update of the BIOS, make sure that all files are checked and logged as administrator. Then close all running programs execution also your AntiVirus and your firewall, then launch the BIOS update.
Also make sure that the battery is fully charged and AC/DC adapter is plugged in.

    Hello

Try to update one of my employees with bios 1.50 laptops (C660) and it displays an error message displaying 3 possible causes. Power adapter not connected not (it's) battery is less than 10% (it is not) and the BIOS is updated to the version 1.50. When I tried the update the laptop was running 1.00. So I updated the bios to 1.30 with no problems, but when you try to update to 1.50 it still shows the error.

Any ideas? You will need to get the bios installed as seems to solve problems hitting the phone suffers from.

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

What operating system is currently installed?

BIOS update it of necessary this value-added package is installed and you run the update as an administrator. Also, make sure that the battery is fully charged.

What can I do to make my bios up to date?

I guess that charged battery properly in the past, even if the BIOS is not updated...
This is why I'm not sure if it's really a BIOS problem.

In any case, try to uninstall compatible ACPI control method battery.
This can be found in the device-> battery Manager

After this, check if the battery would start the loading process.

I have a Satellite U400-112 with Windows 7-64 bit OS. I can't upgrade my system v4.00 to v4.70 since windows or DOS.

Specifically, when the upgrade starts according to the file and then check it stucks without any progress. This error means the two versions (DOS & Windows).
I have a strong feeling that is a corrupted bios file. If someone can justify my feeling or a good file BIOS it is asked to answer.

    Hey Buddy,

Update the BIOS of BACK is not possible because the updates are only based on the Windows.
In any case, what update BIOS error that you get exactly?

If you try to update, make sure that the value added package is installed. That s necessary for the program to update the BIOS.

But why do you want to update? Normally it of not necessary if your system works ok.

    Any ideas?

I m not 100% sure, but I think this version of BIOS is for Win8. European C850 most of the models were shipped with preinstalled Win8 64-bit, but you've got your without an operating system.

If everything works correctly with your Win7 version don t change anything. Not even BIOS.

  • Sticks of DDR3 1066 mhz 2GB x 2 clocked at 800 mhz on Satellite L500-1TU

    Hello world!

So I bought this Toshiba laptop 2 weeks ago
    http://PT.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/product/satellite-L500-1TU/1082331/toshibaShop/FAL...

Sometimes, I noticed he has a few hicups when im game or on youtube, as the noise loops for about 3 seconds then its normal again.
I was scared, it was a defect in the ram and ran memtest and CPU ID

But even if the memtest did not get any errors, I noticed something, the mem test and the CPU ID say that the RAM is running at 800 mhz, when they are both DDR3 and should be run at 1066 mhz...

Here are screenshots from CPU - ID
    http://img63.imageshack.us/GAL.php?g=96346130.PNG

As seen on CPU - ID, the laptop runs with 2 slots of these:
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/individualOptions.do?service=UK&OPTION_ID=1059...

Also, I went into the BIOS and there is no way to change the frequency of the RAM.

In addition, all pilots, including the BIOS are up-to-date.

Could this be a fault of the laptop?

    >... and CPU-ID say the RAM is running at 800 mhz, when they are the two DDR3 and should be run at 1066 mhz...
Why do you think they should operate on a 1066 MHz?
If the speed of the motherboard FSB 800 MHz faster RAM modules will be slow to run on 800 MHz only.
Believe me that everything is OK with the modules of RAM.

    Hello

Please try to configure the default BIOS by using the F9 key in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS F2 press immediately after the laptop is turned on.
Then press f9 and save changes

I recommend that you test the HARD drive as well... use a tool called 'Test of fitness Drive' for this...

BIOS update requires administrator privileges, so you must run the update as an administrator. Also unzip all the files to zip archive before you start the update.

May I ask * why * you want to update the BIOS?

  • Satellite 1410-604-BIOS update > update BIOS Incorrect in the web?

    Hi there again!

Now with a new and strange issue.

We all know that tell old... "If it does not break, don't fix it." And if you put in more computer terms, "especially if it's a BIOS.

Yes, we all know that the BIOS is something quite dellitate to manage. For some reason, we normally feel as if we manage something like nitroglycerine, or radioactive products. And it's because we all know who is put at risk at the moment: our (or sometimes other) computer, the whole system could end up as dead as some pieces of metal, plastic and son.

Well. I passed through all of this, more than 10 times in my life, and only once, it went wrong. But since this old motherboard was already dead, it was not important. But I've always been EXTREMELY care. Allways cross checked everything before you do anything, allways has a backup and a way to allways and restore that backup... I did COMPAQ systems, which have been prepared in this way. A BIOS update was about about a disc, turn on the PC with the disk in the floppy drive and wait. And if you don't like the results, you just click on 'back to a previus BIOS' and that was it... very nice. And easy.

A few days ago a friend gave me a Toshiba Satellite 1410 604 to solve some problems that have been her crazy. After you remove a Norton Internet Security has expired, install avast and scan, I found more than a hundred of files infected with a variety of viruses, malware, trojans, and everything you could imagine. Avast all removed, but the rest of the operating system was so unstable that we decide to format it and install from scratch.

I asked for the restore disks, which obviously it failed because they were lost in one of his trips. After that we had confirmation of Toshiba representatives there is no disk recovery available for this model, because it is too old, we decided to install from scratch like any other normal PC and resigned to losing some of the utilities accompanying that CD and are not available for download on the Web site.

I downloaded all the software available for this model, including two updates to the BIOS. (In reality an update, but in two versions: Windows and traditional) and prepared a CD with all the drivers and programs as if it were a new system installation. And everything was fine, no problems at all. Until we arrived at the wireless LAN card, but that's another problem is already solved (the mini PCI card for the WLAN does not support the encriptación WEP or WAP, and it is not possible to connect to any LAN encripted wireless).

At this point, and when I started setting up and activation of peripheral PCMCIA and USB devices (this computer only supports USB 1.1, 2.0 not) I discovered this text from Toshiba Web site:

"This Bios update adds functionality to your system.
(BIOS stands for Basic Input and Output System. This program is stored in a chip memory dead on the motherboard.
When the computer comes on, the BIOS is launched to perform various functions to start.)

For more detailed updated information, please refer to Information update BIOS Toshiba"

    (you can find it here):

[http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU], you need to search for:

    Quite specific. Isn't?)

According to the information in this Web site, the available BIOS fits the following models:

    "Satellite 2410 414, Satellite 1410, Satellite 1410 - 654S, Satellite 1410 814, Satellite 2410-303, Satellite 2410-304 s, Satellite 1410 354, 2410-601 Satellite, Satellite 1410-401, {color: #ff0000} * Satellite 1410 604 * {color}, Satellite 2410-404, Satellite 1410-301, Satellite 1410-304, Satellite 2410 S403, Satellite Pro 2100, Satellite 1410 S203, Satellite 2410-304, Satellite 1410 554, Satellite 1410 S102, Satellite 1410 - 354F, Satellite 2410 703, Satellite 1410-303, Satellite 2410 - S203, Satellite 1410-801, Satellite 2410 603, Satellite 1410-902. Yes... it's here!

Now when you go into the "Toshiba BIOS update information", you get:

    "Ref. FAQ: TRO0000000b07.

A BIOS update is a {color: #ff0000} * operation is relatively simple and can be done by computer more competent users * {color}. All BIOS updates can be obtained from "BIOS update" Section download click here...

Note: the BIOS files are specific machine the correct BIOS for your machine should be used. »

Please note that Toshiba does not disencourage BIOS manipulation, on the contrary: they even encourage people to do. It is not badly needed, but at the same time that they encourage people to 'play' with such a delicate question, at the end of this page, in small letters, they say:

"Toshiba provides this information"as is"{color: #ff0000} * without warranty of any kind * {color}, explicit or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of quality market or adequacy has a specific use." Toshiba shall not be liable to the topicality, accuracy, completeness or quality of the information provided. {color: #ff0000} * Toshiba is not responsible for damage caused by the use of any information provided, including incomplete or incorrect information * {color}. »

This should trigger yellow alarms in our minds.

+ "Human error is inherent in man, and it is not possible to eradicate. It will be displayed always, sooner or later"(Prof. James Reason). +

And finally, I made the mistake. Although I have read this warning, I remembered all these successful BIOS update with COMPAQ and relied for Toshiba. This update was available there, and Toshiba told me that it was for this computer. Great!

So finally, I disconnected all devices (USB), removed the PCMCIA (WLAN), plugged the battery charger to avoid any possible battery problem, restarted windows, and then Windows started the update (windows version, such as recommended by Toshiba). This drug looked very nice, nothing different from what I usually see on these old COMPAQs.

As reported by the update program, the system would restart. And in fact he did.

Windows normally closed (a little faster than normal, but without mistakes, and since there is no other programs that most - even the antivirus not working - no), the computer turned off, all lights (normal) offshore, and then again on...

    {color: #0000ff} * BEEEEEEEEEEEEP... BEEEP... ... BEEEEP * {color}

OMG! I never movement something SO bad. 3-1-1!

And now... What a 3-1-1 is here? Award BIOS would mean no card graphics or video deffective card, but it is not true, because it worked 20 seconds ago. There are BIOS.

He never came again to life. He's still 3-1-1 beep.

But now comes the investigation on the human factors involved in this accident.

I found I committed the following errors:

    * (1) * rely in the constructor, even if they have WRITTEN their information may be incorrect or incomplete. (BAD if I was a detective QA & QC).

    * (2) * I cross checked deep enough (until it was already too late).

    * (3) * I haven't looked above for how to make a backup of the BIOS to restore must anything deceive you.

    * (4) * let Toshiba lead me to a path that I didn't walk, just because of their supply of 'increased functionality.

    * (5) * Beleave in Toshiba when they said "relatively simple operation and can be performed by the most competent computer users"... they never said it is infallible. "."

Then I began the most interesting part of the investigation.

    {color: #0000ff} * "what went wrong?" * {color}

Obviously, the update of the BIOS has not somewhere, somewhere. And I wanted to know what and where.

First thing, I discovered that there is another Toshiba search engine called "askiris" ([http://askiris.toshiba.com]) and I looked to see if, for any chance I could get the old BIOS 1.20 version which was installed at the origin of this machine.

And I found something... VERY interesting:

    GOOD! Or not?

    Let's take a look:

First thing I did was download all four files.

Then I took the same version that made the accident: 1.40

I unzipped the file, which I found:

So I went the readme.txt and I found this:

And the readme file does not list the model 1410-604 in its readme file, so I can't explain it except as a Toshiba error. * {color: #ff0000} they put an incorrect BIOS on their website and has proposed updating and somehow lead to such mistakes. {color} *.

(Except in the case that one of these models is a name that is different from the model 1410-604, and if that's the case... now I don't know why this BIOS do not work with this computer).

The worst thing is that neither the other files (V1.10, 1.20 and 1.30) lists the 1410-604, apparently so no solution possible workaround for this problem. I need an original v1.20 to the CMOS, and Toshiba seems to have. They offered me to solve the problem, leaving the laptop to an ASP, and pay only € 95 for the work and about € 280 for a motherboard replacement, I will get it resolved. But they offer no guarantees of their possibilities because is a model "too old" and "abandoned" and "unsupported"...

In other words, they said 'you don't have to bother with it, just go and buy a new' (something of quite out of my reach in this time of crisis): P

    Thanks for reading so far.

Now, what I need is to get ideas on a work around for this, my ideas are:

    (1) the CMOS has some startup that works (it allows a roll-back if you have the appropriate file). So I need a good BIOS to burn in the CMOS memory, the SAME SAME model (a backup BIOS) but the backup should be sufficient for the burning program (CHGBIOSA.COM).

    (2) it is always possible that the BIOS might be OK, but the CMOS data has been corrupted somehow. If so, the CMOS of compensation could solve problem. But I wasn't able to find a clear cmos from the outside button, and after disasembling I took battery, with no good result. I try to leave the MOBO without battery for a period more long (I left it about 20 seconds) just in case where 20 seconds are not all capacitors for well pass zero values. I don't have a lot of hope in this point.

    (3) try to get a REAL good update from Toshiba. I contacted technical support several times, and I was able to verify that they are only - phone operators, with a script in front of them, and when the problem is going - out of reach, they fall in the same response: "you must go to an ASP. I still have a faint hope to find someone who really knows a little and could illuminate with a good BIOS in this disc.

    (4) as far as I could find, this BIOS is not any BIOS-manufacturer known. It seems that it has been developed by Toshiba (own brand), so the Phoenix crisis recovery disk won't be of any help here. As well as any other BIOS recovery tool not designed for Toshiba BIOS. But I'm open to all ideas, which could be put to the test more or less safely. (Remember that the 'BIOS-BOOT-PART' feature still works, I don't want to lose that possibility alone of redemption).

Wwwaaaaoooowww... what a falks long post! Sorry about that!

Forgive me, but I wanted to be really clear.

Someone give some tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Please don't say that I shouldn't be doing... I already know that. I already did some research and found my mistakes, not to repeat them. Now, I need to spend, to move and to try to solve this problem, or at least learn to solve similar things. As much as possible.

Thank you once again, in advance, and sorry again.

Modified subject to beter reflect what the problem is (apparently erroneous file BIOS in Toshiba Download Center).

    Hi Fenix,

Wow... He tooked a lot of time to read your post...

    Maybe I can help you.

The Bios in the website is the right one. If you have downloaded the right version of the Bios.

Toshiba America, which has most of the time the Askiris you used isn't accurate models for Toshiba Europe.
This should be the reason, why does not the readme file contain the European model.

I'll try to do an update of the fresh Bios using the update of the traditional Bios.

Copy the files on the disk, put it in the floppy drive, press and hold power on the notebook tab.
After that the laptop is off, press on and hold the key on the left side of space power on the laptop new bar and wait until it turns off again.

If your laptop does not power perhaps the most, the RAM is default?

Therefore, if the use of the traditional Bios or change memory doesn't help, and your laptop is still dead you should go to a SPA, but it will cost money.

I now have my fourth Toshiba laptop and I had never problems with the Bios updates.

The 1410 is very old I think, so before you go to a SPA, I'd buy a new ;)

    Best regards

    Maurice

  • Satellite L40 - 14Y Bios Update with HARD drive empty

    I need to update the Bios of my Satellite L40 - 14Y / PSL48E-01F01UGR of Version 1.60 to 5.50 (for Windows XP). The HARD drive is _ * authorized/empty * _.

My problem: the 'solution' as given

    [Http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07]

is unreasonable/erraneous. The instructions provided in this site for the "traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy ' lead 'procedure 7" for a Satellite L40.

7 procedure is however simply: copy the 5 files, such as listed in the respective "bios - 20080617131457.zip" zip file on the disk ("+ extracted the zip file containing the upgrade of the BIOS to a formatted floppy + '). This disk is - of course - _ * bootable * _ and its usage with the error message "NTLDR" not found as shall be provided.

We know a solution to this problen other than the installation of an operating system for the current object of updating the Bios from an operating system?

Additional note: the attempt to install the 5.50 Bios by running winflash.exe (which is the single executable in "bios - 20080617131457.zip") failed because it "does not in DOS mode. But he could start with a few other disk started micro operating system, such as, for example, Caldera back. We know something about that? The statement: "run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. .... . A BIOS update diskette will be generated"as given for other than blackness L40 laptops means that a * _bootable_ disk is"generated ". Other laptops with the same Bios 5.50 as the L40?

    Hi jetztkommich,

Don t do so complicated: anything that can be downloaded from the Toshiba site, you will find. If there is that only a basic Windows Update the BIOS, you can run the update of the BIOS under Windows. I think that s easy to understand.

As Al - Ex worte, you can try the update on a Windows disc packed with bart PE.

  • Satellite Pro M30 Bios Update

    Hello

I have a satellite pro m30 and I would like to make a bios update. Utility hardware Toshiba says that my bios version is 1.4. The existing updates see 1.2, 1.6, but it says nothing about 1.4.

    Should I take 1.6?

    Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

It might be possible that the BIOS version 1.4 is the version of BIOS default manufacturer for this model.

In my opinion you should take the 1.6 version because it is the most recent and it may be necessary!

    Here is the link: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
go to Support & Download - Download BIOS - choose your M30 SP and click for the Description of BIOS for more information!

  • TR/agent.1220467 detected as I ran that Satellite A100 PSAA2E BIOS update file

I was about to update my BIOS Toshiba laptop Satellite A100 PSAA2E on-site official (I downloaded the update file and unpacked to run it):
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_b * ios.jsp? service = EU
When my antivirus (Avira Antivir Personal) has detected a TR/agent.1220467

Of course, I stopped everything, asked to remove, Avira have another full scan, it was deleted again and restarted my PC.

I am always very careful with what I download, but as I trusted blindly the official site of Toshiba as being safe, I don't run a virus scan on the file update and stupidly flat it once it has been downloaded.
HOW CAN TOSHIBA HAVE INFECTED FILES TO UPDATE HIS SITE? This is really unacceptable.

    And now how I will:
    1. ensure that this virus is gone for good?
    2. switch to update my BIOS knowing that it is not safe to do?

    Please help me!
.. .and make sure that this file to update the BIOS is not infecting hundreds of other users!

    Hello

Don t worry buddy there is no virus
The BIOS file is safe and I guess that your virus scan recognized the file as a virus because of the similar application procedures

First of all you should not update your BIOS if your laptop works well!

Second, you must disable all 3 rd party applications like virus, firewall, malware, software software of scans, while the BIOS update!
These tools can affect or interrupt the process of updating the BIOS and the laptop cannot!

You know that the update of the BIOS is a sensitive technique and if something goes wrong during the update, then you will not be able to power the device!

  • Satellite P20-801 BIOS update

    Hi all

I have a question about updating the bios on my Satellite. I got it off ebay a few months back, reinstalled the OS and now try to update the drivers, bios, firmware dvd - rom etc.

I tried to download the update of the bios for my laptop (PSP26E-02V79EN) and according to the toshiba site, the latest available bios is version 1.10. It is very strange, as the bios I have installed is version 1.4. It's what the real Phoenix bios and the Toshiba Diagnostic tool says. How can this be?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to reflash the bios with the original bios Toshiba, rather than the one Phoenix? If so, could you please tell me how?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

I have P20 over two years, and I've never updated the BIOS so far. The device works without problem. It is not necessary to install the new BIOS just if you find that some update is available.

You are right about the BIOS on P20. This is Phoenix one. As far as I know, it can not be exchanged with Toshiba one. If you want more information about this, contact the customer Service of your country partner.

Please check the last BIOS update on http://www.toshiba-tro.de/subpage/bios.html
