Satellite L500 - 'Boot from a hard disk BBS' shown at startup
I have a Satellite L500, when to start it comes up with 'boot from a hard drive BBS' and that's where he stays. I tried to change the sequence of boot and startup speed.
Could this be related material or the recovery disc won't work?
Any ideas I can try?
The value of the default BIOS and try again.
By the way: since when you noticed this message?
Did you change that may be responsible for this?

T400 problem booting from the hard disk, blinking cursor on the top left corner of the screen
I have problems with T400 (2765-TDG). He struggled with the Setup, which requires power 5 minutes/disable to propely operating system boot.
Computer laptop is less than two months, entirely properly the driver being up-to-date, then after that, nothing's been done about it to user or system administrator. Problem occurred suddenly after two weeks of mentioned maintenance.
Symptoms:
- After initialization of the mouse, screen goes black, and the upper left corner white cursor starts to Flash
- There is no key keyb which can contine begin the process, wait for the reboot
- There is no other device connected to the laptop, even mouse not
- We have several, sometimes 3-4, sometimes even 10 times, to restart with the power button in order to get the boot of the operating system
- When he is successful, just before the start of the operating system, the boot in diagnostic mode to start (with fast start disabled) I can hear only a single beep
What I tried to do:
- I changed the BIOS setting to force booting only from hard drive, cut off from any other starting device.
- Also, changed from AHCI mode to compatibility for hard drive, but without help.
- Turned off the coast of quick start, but during the startup process, there is no specific error indicated
- Updated version of BIOS to 2.03 - 1.01 but with no help
- Restored the default BIOS, no help
Done some diagnostics generals, and here is what I noticed:
- After changing the settings in the BIOS, save & exit, the computer hangs with a black screen. I have to turn off and on in order to continue the initialization. The settings in the BIOS are registered correctly.
- When I was able to boot into the operating system (XP), graphics card sometimes is not recognized, not even by the original driver installation. In Device Manager, I have two graphics card drivers recognized traffic sign with "Intel management engine interface" device with warning sign
- In Event Viewer, and then only error line is "Problem with HECI driver communicating with firmware" or something like that
- Operating system is not able to enter in standby mode, it justshows white screen and I have to turn off the laptop by pressing the off button longer
Any help appreciated. Thank you! I hope I can cope with this before I send laptop to the authorized service.
Vedran
I'm sorry to tell you, but in case, can I had to send laptop to the authorized service provider. They replaced the motherboard and the hard disk (!). Now, everything works fine, but puts shame on Thinkpad T series notebook.

HP Pavilion 500-210 QE cannot boot from any hard drive.
Good evening. As you can see on the subject, my computer just cannot boot from any hard disk that I put on it. I tried swapping the power supply, SATA cable, reset the BIOS, allowing the start legacy, changing to AHCI to IDE and RAID...
When I get to the BIOS Setup, I see the hard drive and its features, but it will not start or show when I am trying to install a new OS. I'm not an expert, but I think that the problem could be in the motherboard SATA ports, but I'm not sure. Just to be sure, I tried another harddrive and it did not work as well.
I was also thinking to buy a HDD external and installation of my OS on it, but I don't even know if it is possible and I would really like to have my computer working again.
Thank you for your attention!
Ok. That doesn't say that it is very likely that the motherboard has problems.

Satellite M30X-165 only boot from a hard drive possible
Today, I tried to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 but no media like CD/DVD bootable and works of disk removable (USB key).
Notepad only boots from hard drive.
With F12 I have a start menu, but no matter what I select that does not work and Windows XP boots from the hard drive. Later, I changed the boot sequence in the bios, but it does not work. Finally, I did a bios update 1.60 zu 2.00 but I still have the problem.
How can I boot from DVD or USB stick?Try please enter the BIOS and set it to default settings. After doing this, try again please.
Optical disc drive recognized and listed correctly in the BIOS settings?
It works when you use it in Windows? Also try another thing. Put the bootable disc in ODD and shut down your laptop. Reboot and press the C key several times. If I m remembering well this should force ODD as first bootabe.

Satellite L450 - how do you start the recovery from the HARD disk?
Hello world
I just joined the forum and already I need help.
I have 2 questions (10) I'm an ODP, and I volunteer for a local blind group who all have laptops and rewrite the textbooks in braille users. Now a desire to know how start recovery from the HARD disk drive and what you should do disks for this.
and (2) another received a laptop computer Toshiba A 100 and it does not start as soon as the Toshiba screen appears it lacks a password, we tried all kinds of passwords, tails of start and a new record of program but it does not start. Can anyone help please.
Ken
For instructions how to recover a Toshiba laptop with verification of HARD drive recovery procedure please this document > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
The Satellite A100, I presume that you need BIOS password. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. Accredited maintainer Toshiba can remove the password for you.

8000 elite: try to boot from the hard drive
After placing a ssd, I get this notification. nothing else happens.
I checked the bios, but I noticed that I can not change the boot sequence (ssd hard drive first, the other second place) so I changed the sata cables too the ssd is the startup disk.
someone who can help?
the ssd already has an operating system installed
Sorry, from your description, I thought you might have "migrated" Win10 from the HARD disk to the SDS, and when people do this by copying partitions, they almost always forget migrate partition, including the bootloader files.
So you did a clean install of Win10 for the SSD?
If this is the case, you might be able to fix it by running the win10 installation media startup repair.
To do this, you will need to use the link to the installation media to download Win10 and burn a DVD or create a USB key: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10
Note that when you download and build install media, the default tool corresponding to what is already installed on your PC (as in home for the House, and 64-bit to 64 - bit). While you CAN change these settings, are NOT. If you do, the media that results will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code. Then, follow these instructions to run the Startup Repair tool: Doing - Startup Repair
You may need to do this same series of steps three times.
Good luck
I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

Z575 will not boot from the hard drive or restore DVD
Need help on a laptop Z575 age of 2 years that immediately after an automatic update of windows, will not start either from the hard disk or restore DVDs (blue screen). Does not start in safe mode, not booting from a rescue of third party DVD. Attempt to start, it will show you the ability to start the Startup Repair tool. Repair shows that it is unable to fix with the detail following problem error messages:
Signature of the problem 1: 6.1.7600.16385
Signature of problem 2: 6.1.7600.16385
Signature of the problem 3: unknown
Signature of the 4:21200196 problem
Signature problem 5: auto failover
Signature of the problem 6:7
Signature of the 7 problem: bad driver
OS version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1Normally think that the hard drive has failed or that windows update caused a software problem, but the inability to boot from any restore disk that makes me think that there is another serious problem with the hardware of the laptop.
Any help would be appreciated. THX
Additional note: when you try to boot from a restore disc, blue screen, error message:
Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78DA640, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
It is a hardware failure that cannot be restarted soft.I also removed the hard drive and RAM, reinstalled and rebooted, no change.
Additional note: I was able to access the hard drive with a recovery of old program, focused on the (SpaceFM) ram charged through the DVD player. Hard drive data appears intact. Still does not start from the hard disk or a DVD of windows system.
Thank you. Rather than buying a 4 GB or more large key USB comes from put this into hard drive replacement. Installed correctly, boots very well now. No other error of the optical drive... and no explanation I can see, but that's it.
Unless something else pops up we'll just call cela a HARD drive failed after 2 years of common use. Thanks again.

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.
It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).
My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.
However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.
But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.
And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.
As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.
Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.
I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.
Someone at - it the same problem with me?
Any suggestion is appreciated!
As you have a laptop, better make this laptop in the computer Forum post here:

I want to move a program from one hard disk to another is possible?
I want to move a program from one hard disk to another is possible? I have the original disc to the software, but it is damaged. The hard disk that contains the program barely works, so I need to transfer all the programs and data to another drive. I used the transfer Assistant, but that will not transfer this program?
Unless you make an exact copy of the installation CD, I'm not sure there is much else you can do.
You can always try using a cloth and wipe the disc from the Center outward. That might do the trick. Or you can use a program like IMGBurn and create a new CD and hope for the best. Other than that, I'm ideas.

Re: Satellite L310 - cannot start from the HARD disk
Hello
My L310 just died on me yesterday. My system just can not start, not even in Safe Mode. And it keeps trying to start using my network card, not through hard drive.
I put the BIOS default settings, but it does not help.
And she has this tone to loud continuous beep when it tries to start using the network card. A continuous beep, even on the screen of the BIOS and in safe mode.
I chose the hard drive manually, but he keeps trying to start through the network adapter.
And the laptop does not meet the keyboard. Even with a keyboard external usb. When I sometimes managed to boot my system on the rare occasion, I get to the login screen and cannot button my password.
Does anyone have similar problems?
Let me know. Thank you!
Looks like your HARD drive is defective. BIOS recognize it?
You should test the disk with Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it:
http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFTCheck this box and give us feedback. Maybe the HARD drive needs to be replaced.
On the keyboard issue it is not easy to say what are the causes of the problem, but in the worst case that he should be replaced also. :(
