Satellite L500 - cannot activate the WLAN on FN + F8

Hello to all users of Toshiba, Ii'm new to computers laptop Toshiba, this one beeing my 1st and iIhave a well-known problem, I read on the internet.

I recently bought a Satellite L500-13W. It has Realtek Wifi and comes with Vista OS. I deleted Vista OS since I have the license to the retail of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 top intalled. All work well, Audio, video, everything outside the wireless card. I enabled from the BIOS and everything and yet when I press FN + F8 it does not activate. The drivers are properly installed, as Windows 7 brings the upgrade of drivers. He said that the card works fine, but it does not turn on and search for Wifi signals. The Orange of the WIFI led does illuminate not.

If anyone has a solution for this problem, I would be very grateful. I don't know what can be the problem, the software or the hardware.

Advice me please. Thank you.

Hi Darius1990,

> Drivers are properly installed, as Windows 7 brings upgrade drivers
This means that you have installed the Windows update WIFI driver and no official site of Toshiba, right?
Well, in this case, I would try the prétestées WLAN driver from Toshiba. So you can make sure that it s not a WLAN driver related problem. Just check the WLAN from Toshiba Portal:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

Have you tested other FN keys combination?
If they don t work too you must install the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards because these two tools to control the function FN key and are important to use them correctly.

  • Satellite L500 - cannot run the DVD-ROM games

I am currently having problems with my Toshiba Satellite L500 series. The problem is, I can run purchased audio CD, as well as DVDs of the films, but I can't run games DVDrom. Music CD will automatically start Media Player very well, as well as films in their corresponding players... Games (like Dragon Age Origins and Left 4 Dead) DVD - ROM cannot read, or be recognized. When I go to "Computer" and try to access the game, it says "no available disk. Please insert disc into drive D: ". So from what I understand, the CD/DVD-rom may not be completely broken if he reads all types, except for games to DVDrom.

Can someone help me with this please! It is quite frustrating because my computer is just now to a year! I wouldn't think that all computer companies sell computers that fall apart after a year... I was hoping that it was different with Toshiba.

Once more, the CD/DVD-ROM can read CD and DVD of the film, but NOT the games to DVDrom. Help, please! Thanks in advance!

    Hi adecker,.

Maybe it s caused due the upper and lower filters in the registry. You should try to remove as you can read in this article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

I had a similar problem that some discs can't be read more. And I went thorugh based forum to clean the CD/DVD drive lens with a microfibre cloth. Be careful if you do this and don't scratch the lens.

  • Cannot activate the WLan on Satellite A30 card

    I have a satellite A30.
In the manual, I had with the laptop it says that some models have a built in wireless. My computer has an on/off switch for the wireless, but I was not able to activate it.

How will I know if this model wireless connection will work.

I downloaded the drivers of this wireless Web site. After having unpacked the file, I found that there is no installation instructions or an executable file.
What I do with the unzipped files.

Just a note, I have a belkin wireless router and my laptop computer A30 wireless for now but I need an adapter big clumsy network plugged into a USB port

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks Mark.

    Hello Mark

First, you must be sure that your camera comes with the wireless network card. You can check this on two tracks. The first is to check the underside of your laptop. Each camera comes with WLAN card has sticker WLAN. Otherwise you can check the entries in the device under network adapters Manager. If the unit has WLAN card that it will be there.

As far as I know the WLAN for Satellite A30 card is optional and if the device has no card on board you can buy a compatible or use external as WLAN USB stick cards or PCMCIA WLAN cards.

This switch located in the laptop from the front is a button that is not reinforced.

    Any ideas guys?

    Hello

You may need to press the button?
Also, I found a Satellite L20 manual on the Toshiba site and there I found information that the WLan functionality is not available on all models.

    Hello

I recommend you do the BIOS update. Here you can compare the current version on your laptop, latest on the Toshiba download page.
Compare also the WLAN driver version.

After BIOS update the WLAN test new functionality. In a first time without any form of encryption.
    Please post the results.

  • Satellite L500 - cannot install the Intel video driver

    Ok
complete failure of the hard drive, no recovery cd was created, reloaded windows 7, looked up and downloaded the drivers from Toshiba, BUT there are only two video drivers listed, amd and Intel, both marked "for model only supported" its an Intel machine so I tried the Intel driver but it doesn't install, it just closes which I believe if the corresponding material is not found is the default action for these drivers.

But I'm stuck with 'standard VGA graphics adapt' all other drivers loaded perfectly, (I installed the driver from chipset Intel first and rebooted, so it should be ok but it s not)

    Any ideas?

Do you use 32 or 64 bit OS?

  • Satellite L500 - cannot adjust the brightness of the screen

I have a L500 - came out with Windows 7. I can't also adjust the brightness - the external monitor is fine. 17 other laptops in the same school are fine - just this one.
The FN key doesn't seem to work - the laptop screen is so dark, that it is not readable.

I didn't know all the answers that respond to that?

    Hi redmg,

The FN keys are controlled by value added and Flash Cards Support utility package. So if you can use t FN keys correctly reinstall these two tools of Toshiba. You can download on the official page of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But remove older versions before installing the new versions.

After that all FN keys should work properly again.

  • Impossible to activate the Wlan on Satellite

I recently got a toshiba satellite, the problem I have is that when I initially shot to the top of the laptop the wireless light was extinguished, and the Fn F8 combo did not work.

    After long created this light.
However in manage wireless networks, it upward with the wireless is not currently enabled.
When I diagnose the problem he told me that I need to plug an ethernet cable.

I'm not very technical and have not the slightest idea what to do.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much.

First of all, it would be interesting to know what Satellite phone you exactly.

Then in most cases, you need to activate the WLan switch first. It s located on the side of s for laptop. Next, you use FN + F8 to select the WiFi network.

Finally, you need to configure the WiFi network.
Either allow you to use a 3rd third party tool like utility Intel ProSet, Atheros WLan utility or similar or you will use windows own WLan settings

Here, we need the SSID (name of the Wlan), password encryption, encryption of WLan, etc.

For more details, please read the comments here in the forum or google.

  • Portege R700-14f - impossible to activate the WLan

I want to set the standard windows 7 OS on the laptop (PT310E-R700-14f)
I have problems to get Fn + F8.
It won't let me turn off or turn on the bluetooth.

Now I think the problem is with the driver of the wireless (broadcom) adapter

The prepared image on toshiba has the Broadcom driver driver version: 5.60.48.42

in the download section, I can only find the version of the driver:

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver Windows 7 (32/64) 5.60.48.35

    Best regards

    Marc

    Hello

Well, if the Wlan driver is not installed, then you won't be able to activate the WLan using FN + F8
This means that you will install driver WLan.

I recommend the WLan card. Install a diagnosis like Everest home Edition tool that will help you to get the WLan card details.

All the drivers are located here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

  • Satellite L500-1DT - HDD the smart predict service failures

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1DT and the last days he started to say "your HARD drive has the smart predict function failures"-is that what I did for her or is it a problem to manufacturers? I only got two months.

Anyone know if I can fix it myself?
I have just in Spain and I'm here for the next two months.

    I'm useless with technology...

    Any help would be good.

    Thank you!!

    Kate

Please don't fix anything alone. New notebook has warranty valid so if something goes wrong the affected parts must be replaced and warranty will cover all costs.

Visit THIS page and read what means SMART.
In other words, your HARD disk goes wrong so please back up all your important data and contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

I don't know where you live in Spain, but to find the nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer visit the Toshiba support page under
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP contact them as soon as possible.

    Good luck!

  • Question of ' system cannot activate the graphics performance "T400

    Hi all

I have a ThinkPad T400 with Switchable Graphics, running Windows 7 x 64, with the latest drivers provided by Lenovo.  I tried to go to the ATI graphics card today for the first time in a little and got a message "system cannot activate the graphics performance", invites me to disable all external video connections or disable all graphics applications.

The problem is, I don't have any open application.  I disabled several startup programs, uninstalled VMWare Workstation and tried several services, I thought that might interfere with the manual - still no luck switching.  I'll reinstall the driver, but in the meantime, anyone have any ideas, or find a resident program that tempt me not not to be able to switch from Intel for the ATI graphics card?

I believe that after checking the system logs, the error was somewhere in libraries Visual C++ Runtime. I decided at this point, that the question was too difficult to follow and with Service Pack 1 available, I saved and reloaded. Problem solved.

  • Satellite L500 - cannot turn off the WiFi and network icon changing itself

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1GL (comes with Win 32-bit =) and since I installed the latest updates I can not disable the wireless function. When I use the shortcut key to activate or disable the indicator led is turning on and off, but the wireless feature is always turned on and even the icon which shows the network connection, itself changes without doing something with it.

A few times it shows Red Cross (as she has no connection), but says: connected. When I use wireless connecton always displays the cable connection icon. most of the time, when he should have been showing the strength of the signal.

This is reaally annoing. Please help me solve this problem.

    Hi danihun,

    > since I installed the latest updates I can not disable the wireless function.
The updates you have installed exactly?

In your case, I would try a system restore to an earlier point.

  • Impossible to activate the WLAN on Satellite A100 (error message)

HI - please excuse me if I'm missing some information here, I'm not used to dealing with computers and don't know all the technical terms!

I use my laptop computer for 4 years and never had any internet connection problems. Use wireless this morning, and by the middle of the afternoon he had "disabled" itself. I tried to activate it (in ConfigFree) but get the message that "the question does not switch '-'Devices '.

In detail, the three problems proposed are not the cause, none of the items are open. When I run the connectivity ConfigFree doctor, it just tells me again that my wireless connection is turned off.

I am temporarily able to use another laptop and have tried to install the latest driver, does not. I also did a system restore to last week, but even once, he touched nothing.

If someone could shed some light on how I can reconnect to the internet it would be much appreciated as I am only able to connect wireless to this place. If I missed any vital information, sorry! As I said, I don't really know what I'm talking about here...

    Thank you

    Hello!

Have you checked if WLAN is actually enabled on your laptop? You can turn on or off with the switch of material that needs to be defined on and key combination FN + F8. Check this box!

Also have a look in Device Manager if the wireless network card is installed correctly. In your case, I would also try an update of the WLAN driver.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

  • Satellite U500 - 11G - cannot activate the upgrade to Windows 7

Really sorry to this topic, but with the new Satellite U500 - 11G can not activate the upgrade to Windows 7. Keep told by entering the serial number that it was origonally installed with Vista, but no info on how to activate it.

    Any help here please?

    Hi mate

The Toshiba pre-installed Vista OS has already been activated.

AFAIK if you upgraded the operating system Vista to Win 7 using the Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade kit then a Win 7 must be already activated and does not need to be enabled separately
