Hello
Thanks for posting in the Forum the Microsoft community.
If I understand correctly, you cannot open Internet Explorer in the second tab or a new window.
To better understand the question, please answer the following questions:
1. are you able to access any site on the first tab?
2. is it works much earlier?
3. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
I suggest you follow the mentioned methods:
Method 1: Run the troubleshooter for Internet Explorer and check.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/open-the-Internet-Explorer-performance-Troubleshooter
Method 2:
Troubleshoot Internet Explorer to IE quick, safe and stable
http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety
Method 3:
Perform the reset of Internet Explorer and check:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/923737
Warning: Reset the Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings

I have internet explore 8, but something happened to him earlier so now I use google chrome. The logo for IE disappeared and I was getting script errors at the time also and now I want to use IE, but I can't. I tried to download IE 9 and he said: it could not copy a file and then took me to the troubleshooting and IE has no good at all. I have IE 8, but how do I connect it? Its a puzzle to be sure. Help?
IE9 is not compatible with xp...
For the script, open internet options, Advanced tab, look for 'Disable script debugger' & uncheck
the box, too, look below it & uncheck 'Disable script-other', close when thru.
Also, download & install these updates at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/MS10-022
Scroll down to xp 5.8 would later...

If you do a search of the forum, you can find the number of threads on your problem. Have you tried to remove the upper/lower case filters to the registry? Try to use high quality media like Word to Word and Tdk, clean with a lens cleaning disc. It's typical responses to your problem. If it does not help, it may be hardware issue. By the way, have you tried to reset to factory settings?

When I download an update for a program it opens Internet Explorer and not Firefox
Firefox is always kept open on my PC. When I have an update of the program, I accept that but then Internet Explorer opens for me to download the update. It would normally usually Firefox. Why opens Internet Explorer and not open in Firefox as per normal?
Which depends on the program involved. Some programs will use the default browser , that the user has defined in preferences, while others will use the browser that comes with the operating system. IE in the case of Safari on Mac and Windows.
You have Firefox set as default browser in Vista?
Access to programs and default settings in Vista, IIRC. -

When I select the option of automatic reboot disable a blue screen with the following error codes displayed

Boxc contextual of Windows Explorer is displayed when I open Internet Explorer... it does not cancel - runs a secondary Windows Installer box. I have to go through the process to attempt to cancel the boxes about 3 times before finally disappears and allows me to use my browser.
Hi LeonCollins,
1. What is the full error message you get?
2 this only happens with Internet Explorer, or when opening other programs?
You can try these steps and see if it helps.
Method 1: Reregister the Installer engine.
a. Click Start, click Run and then type cmd in the dialog box, and then click command prompt.
b. at the command prompt, type the following and press ENTER after each line:
MSIExec /Unregister
MSIExec/regserver
Method 2: Check your version of Windows Installer and upgrade to the latest version if it is needed.
a. Click Start, type cmd in the search box or click Run then type services.msc in the dialog box and then press ENTER to open a command prompt window.
b. at the command prompt, type MSIExec and then press ENTER. If the MSI engine works, there should be no error message, and should open a separate dialog box. This shows the MSI version.
If the version of the installer is not version 4.5, see the following article in the Knowledge Base Microsoft for more information and a link to download Windows install 4.5:
942288 Windows Installer 4.5 is available
Try to install or to uninstall again.
Hope this information is useful.
